GOOD NEWS , and Ernie they must have been listening because Keith now manufacture a LARGER all titanium coffee filter , I just got one and it rocks ! Another High end Keith product is a 250ml Tiny kettle it also costs silly money , I've used mine daily for over 2 years and I've now gotten over the pain of the price tag ,and like the small coffee pot/ filter it delivers repeat use satisfaction .
OMG!Thanks so much for the awesome video! 😊 Loved it, and it looks amazing in action! Just a heads-up, all KEITH Titanium products have new and lower prices now on our official website.
I recommend steeping the coffee like you would tea. It's very different from using the drip stand, so worth trying (especially if you want espresso like strength). Steeping is more forgiving of the grind, as well. I bought once and cried only once, the coffee is sooo good. For backpacking I replaced the leather case with an Allmansright small stuff sack, a perfect fit.
Because I drink only one small cup of coffee per day, and I use this pour over every day, I consider this set well worth the money. I enjoy Chinese tea brewed Gaiwan style and this little set is also perfect for that. Yes, it is expensive, and I use mine daily, so over a couple of years of use, and the set still looks brand new, it’s worth every penny. Keith quality is top notch.
Honestly, I'd rather just carry a little jar of instant coffee. It's not as good as fresh coffee, but I can quickly and easily make a big ol' canteen cup of coffee and it doesn't cost $200.
👍👍👍 Absolutely! I put two teaspoons of Instant Coffee with two pinches of Salt into a small Ziploc Bag and I have one cup worth. Four of these fit easily (more if necessary) into the next size up Ziploc and you're good to go. Much cheaper than the commercial 'single-serving sachets and .. the ziploc bags are reusable.
@Valco458 understood. But if you've got the space, which I normally don't, the patience, wich im usually too hungover from drinking whiskey till 1 AM, then why not. Im over all that and instant coffee it is. Need to recoup and get back to wheelin.
For me the best and simplest way to make coffee on the trail is the MSR mugmate, super light, super easy, no need for filters, fits most mugs, allows better brewing as it’s not just a pour over. I’ve tried aeropresses, mini espresso pumps, pour over filters etc, and even when car camping I still take just a simple gauze filter such as the Mugmate. Often the easy way is the best way - thanks Ernie 👍🙏
Wow, what a beautiful setup! A little too expensive for a medically retired Army Sergeant on VA Disability, but still a beautiful setup! Seems to me that this would be the absolutely perfect set for my “Valet” or “Man Servant” to brew the perfect cuppa of my English Breakfast tea in the back seat of my Rolls Royce or Bently (if I owned one) because if I owned either one of those expensive vehicles and had my own personal “Valet”, “Man Servant”, or “Executive Assistant “ I wouldn’t be worried about the $200.00 price tag for the set!!! (And actually having been an Army Sergeant [or “Warrant Officer” for UK forces] we prefer 16oz [473 ml] or above!).
It's so light that it now more trouble to carry the coffee beans. Now that I discovered "little's instant coffee" from Columbia I have no need for a coffee set. I replaced it with with Titanium Sake flask ( only $200). I fill it with Zacapa Rum. For that kinda money let's cary what really matters. Great review btw!
Between MSR, Snow Peak, and Evernew, plus one Keith rice cooker, I have about one hundred (100!) pieces of titanium cookware. This excludes titanium stoves and flatware-eating/cooking utensils. Yeah, I know you don't believe me...tell you what, you live in Louisiana as I do. Say when and where and I'll pack it up and bring it all to show you. Of course I've had over fifty years to collect it all, but there it is. I too have been lusting after the Keith coffee set. I haven't bought it because number one it's too expensive. If you being an MD don't want to spend that much, me being a firearms instructor/bodyguard would feel pain spending that much at once. As you pointed out it makes approximately 1/3 of the cup of coffee or tea that I normally make. Last I already have a Snow Peak coffee set with a Ti French press and Ti milk frother. I can highly recommend the Snow Peak set but if you want one I strongly recommend you buy it quickly. Snow Peak is world famous for discontinuing the best things that they make. At one time, not too long ago, Snow Peak made the absolute best mountaineering stoves and cookware that you could buy. But they apparently got out of the mountaineering/backpacking equipment business and now serve car campers and perhaps mule packers. It really was/is a tragedy if you're a hardcore ultralight type.
I have one, works well. I think it’s way over priced. I wish it was at least 16oz. I bring it with me when I travel. I still also bring other ways to make coffee when I travel.
I understand that this is a niche product but I think they missed the target market. Most of us drink a larger coffee. While I like the design and no need to carry filters I can’t get over the small brew size and price. I’ll stick to my GSI pour over and wait until something better comes along.
I don't know if you've tried Nescafe GOLD coffees and Expresso instant coffees but I was blown away by how good they are all you need is hot water no gizmos - no gadgets and I'd put them up against any coffee method out there These are freeze-dried coffee and NOT the old-fashioned instant coffee big difference. When traveling 100X better than the coffee machine at hotels or the gizmos we lug around on the trail...
Thanks for the review, Ernie! I like titanium, ultralight and coffee, but I also like inexpensive... which this is not. I make cowboy coffee in the utensils I already own, and that's about as ultralight & compact as you can get. If you're not into cowboy coffee, you can get coffee in tea bags or pucks. I'm not in favor of rewarding purveyors of insanely & disproportionately high-priced stuff. Keith is really charging an insane premium on this... hope some of their Asian competition can humble them a bit.
Keith missed its target demographic when they added the leather pouch. Should have made it out of X-Pak or Dyneema. The other problem with it is that you still have the task of heating the water. This will require a larger container, which is where they should have started in designing it. I might have chosen one of Keith Titaniums western canteens as they are larger than your normal canteen at .5 and 1.1 gallons. If you were trying to min/max you might have picked the Keith Titanium Dubhe Kettle at $599, but it looks impractical for hiking because of the long handle.
Earnie as far as the ratio you just gotta play with the grind settings. Theres a video on youtube where the designer shows the procedure to tqp the filter with the lid a few times if the coffee stalls while brewing. I do it everytime. A couple taps with the lid on the filter gets it flowing and the coffee flows much faster into the cup. Plus the filter has twenty five thousand holes laser etched into the filter thsts where the high cost comes into play. They always do a Christmas sale for 50 dollars off. To me its an heirloom piece it will last a lifetime makes excellent coffee and with the smaller size i normally make two cups. It shines with highend coffee like lightrost or medium. To really highlight the fruit flavors.
The case appears to be exquisite, extremely well-made. Other than that, this is some sort of joke. $200, makes a cup so small it's an amount I'd drink while waiting for my ACTUAL cup (12-24 ounces), and seems a bit fiddly and annoying to use. Even if they gave it to me I'd never use it. Thanks for the honest review!
From my perspective, the only thing worth a hoot would be the strainer(design and size) and the stand. Is the strainer big enough to hold enough grounds for a larger brew? The drinking vessel is roughly 7.5 oz, less than an actual cup, yet larger than the standard 5-6 oz coffee cup serving(to 1 tablespoon of grounds). Still, is the strainer capable of holding enough grounds to do more than one, and if so what is the maximum possible per strainer? $200 is way over priced, $50 or less would be more suitable considering the size.
Thanks for the breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
What are the dimensions of the cup itself? Trying to see if the brew portion could work on a taller cup when/ if you wanted to brew a taller cup or 2 cups of coffee ☕️ to share .
I’m guessing going with a taller cup might result in a weaker cup as you’re still only using that small container of grounds but putting more water through them.
Theres like 12.99 USD moka pots bout the same size as that. I got the 2 cup servings moka pot and its really small. Stainless steel as well. The one serving is even smaller. Aslo theres french press in same size same price.
The leather case looks really nice and seems to be well made too but leather is a relatively heavy material and seems like an odd choice for a piece of ultra light gear. I mean, why use titanium if the weigh does not matter and on the other hand why leather if the weight DOES matter.
"Ultralight" in a leather case with a huge metal zipper. hahaha! I don't know why this came up in my feed... Toaks pot, paper filter, thanks. This is ridiculous.
That looks like a great piece of kit, but how can they be serious about the weight when they include such a heavy case? Price is ridiculous, itd be expensive at a quarter of that price. Just my own thoughts, feel free to disagree!
Too expensive, makes too little for me & I’m concerned that setting your grinder on a pour over grind is too fine for the strainer. I’ll stick to my #2 filter paper & collapsible silicone cone that tucks into a pocket of my travel bag, or in my vehicle. Hey, I thought you got a stove so we can boil some water?!? ☕️🫖⛺️
You ask the the question...so...waste of money IMO. Many way better choices out there for way less. Making "cowboy" coffee is the best way to make coffee, a pot/cup, grounds, water and fire, don't get much simpler than that and the coffee is smooth with no bitterness.
No thanks. Another 'Holy Grail' aka the 'Perfect Whatever' to chase after .. and $$$ into the Manufacturer / Seller pocket. Many will buy stuff like this for their own reasons and satisfaction but .. No thanks. Two teaspoons of Instant Coffee with two pinches of Salt into a small Plastic Ziploc Bag and I'm good to go for a Cuppa. Four of these fit (more if required) into the next size up Ziploc. Cheap as chips and the Ziplocs are reusable. Yes .. I also drink Cowboy Coffee. Required amount plus salt into the Ziploc .. Cup / Pot / Kettle to brew in. Strainer and Insulated Cup and Bob's your Uncle.
Send it back..Grossly over priced. So many options cheaper and basically does the same thing. Good cup of Coffee is high determined by the Quality of the Coffee. If your not using a Coffee press well..suck less and get with the program. Brew a cup of coffee with water Hotter than 206 degree..you begin the bitterness brew.
Sorry, that does not make me smile. It’s ridiculously overpriced and it’s ridiculously tiny. I like a large mug of coffee. This product would not meet my coffee needs at all. I would not buy it. I might take a leather case on a business trip or car vacation, but why would you ever take a heavy leather case on a hiking or backpacking trip? For an ultralight titanium product? I sure wouldn’t. It really makes me wonder if they are confused about their target audience of customers here. This strikes me as a “luxury product” that no one really needs.
$200 Coffee cup in an unnecessary case. Made in China. I suppose I better get one now before Trump comes in and they are $400! I guess if you didn't care about the $200 another $200 won't matter. You can buy a whole cook set for $60 and it comes with a 900 ml mug/pot. Not sure if its Trump proof though. Best buy everything that not made in the USA sooner rather than later and before its double the price. Keith could have thrown a bag of coffee in, and a grinder for $200.
I will never be able to assist you on the size of the grind… there is no way I would spend that much money for a light weight coffee system In a leather case that triples the total weight. Cool… but not this guy

👍👍👍 Absolutely!

But what if you want to look important on the trail .
Drives me nuts every time I see the overlanders dragging out the French presses for a cup of coffee 😂
@Valco458 understood. But if you've got the space, which I normally don't, the patience, wich im usually too hungover from drinking whiskey till 1 AM, then why not. Im over all that and instant coffee it is. Need to recoup and get back to wheelin.
Why put titanium in a heavy leather case?
To keep it from being all noisy, rattling around inside your cast iron dutch oven. Duh.
Titanium is nice and it's expensive so worth protecting. If you have dreams of doing long distance with this thing, then just throw it in a mesh bag
@@mastabas so $120 and your supposed to buy your own bag? Not well thought out
I think I'll stick with my GSI mug and Java drip system.
With the savings I can pay for a weekend away.
Thanks Ernie.
First. Yes. Like the video.
Lightweight, and even more relevant, ultra lightweight, only makes sense when not a single-use product.

I have the Ti3911 and I agree it does not make the amount of coffee I desire, and the price is high. But it is very Cool!
Ernie, you just like that cool case!
I'm watching this while drinking coffee from a titanium mug, for full immersion 😅
Between MSR, Snow Peak, and Evernew, plus one Keith rice cooker, I have about one hundred (100!) pieces of titanium cookware. This excludes titanium stoves and flatware-eating/cooking utensils. Cool video. I'm the don't have a budget guy so I'm going to stick to my GSI Glacier Cup with the GSI Java Drip for now.
MAn, I was excited. This would be perfect for my stanley lunchbox setup, but $120? That's way rich for my blood.
$120 buys a lot of instant coffee packets
exactly. Plus for a $120, i am fine using my $10 silicon filter holder thing and a cheap camping mug
Thanks Doc for the review...really cool product, but not in my budget.
I understand that this is a niche product but I think they missed the target market. Most of us drink a larger coffee. While I like the design and no need to carry filters I can’t get over the small brew size and price. I’ll stick to my GSI pour over and wait until something better comes along.

Hi Ernie. Another great video. What happened to the 2nd item? Was it a stove ?
It's both - cool and a waste of money 😊
Good review, thanks for sharing, YAH bless !

So what is your camping coffee set up?
Too pricey for me. I can buy a lot of high-end instant for that much. $40 would be my upper limit for that.
I am in Arkansas as well. What part are you in?
From my perspective, the only thing worth a hoot would be the strainer(design and size) and the stand. Is the strainer big enough to hold enough grounds for a larger brew? I agree with you it's way to small and the price is way to big.
It will last a lifetime so for that reason alone 200 may not be all that bad. Although I agree its a bit much.
If it do not come with the leather case, the price tag can be lower a lot!
I would buy one if I had an extra $200 dollars because I’m a coffee nerd.
Vargo has a poreover
I know a few Japanese glampers that own this coffee maker. They go ga ga over products like these.. 😂
The leather case looks really nice and seems to be well made too but leather is a relatively heavy material and seems like an odd choice for a piece of ultra light gear. I mean, why use titanium if the weigh does not matter and on the other hand why leather if the weight DOES matter.
I save a lot of weight and bulk on the trail by being incapable of enjoying coffee or tea
"Ultralight" in a leather case with a huge metal zipper. hahaha! I don't know why this came up in my feed... Toaks pot, paper filter, thanks. This is ridiculous.
There is no way to justify the price. Also, because it is so small, you must pour the water in stages, which will give you a cooler cup of coffee.
$147 on sale at Amazon today. Still $125 too expensive. Lol
Cost kills it. There are too many other excellent ways to make coffee for a lot less to justify the cost of this kit.
You can get a titanium g2firebox for less money😂😂😂
A Tomahawk steak in a nice steakhouse costs $195. $200 is not that much anymore.
That looks like a great piece of kit, but how can they be serious about the weight when they include such a heavy case? Price is ridiculous, itd be expensive at a quarter of that price. Just my own thoughts, feel free to disagree!

Too small and too expensive. If Keith makes a larger capacity model I would buy one.
Nice outfit but overpriced for myself. I'll stay with my Vargo Titanium coffee filter for $49.99.
You ask the the question...so...waste of money IMO. Many way better choices out there for way less. Making "cowboy" coffee is the best way to make coffee, a pot/cup, grounds, water and fire, don't get much simpler than that and the coffee is smooth with no bitterness.
nice but too much $$$ for me...
Over priced but then I don't drink coffee. I wouldn't want to carry an item only for coffee/tea
Quit watching at the 2:18 mark when you said the price was $199.
They’re out of their minds.
The background emotional music for this product says a lot. Why do you want to run a fake life?
No. Not for 200.
cool and a waste of money

That’s a expensive chinese gimmick…. Take just a titanium mug and a javadrip and go!
Sorry, that does not make me smile.
It’s ridiculously overpriced and it’s ridiculously tiny. I like a large mug of coffee. This product would not meet my coffee needs at all. I would not buy it.
