Dear God this was useful, I am a huge fan of how you interprete funtionality in new releases, its way better to look at the specs from a fellow pro photographers point of reference, you explain the things that matter most to us in the field, koodos my friend, great job there
4:27 "that's what it would be on a traditional camera" - nice pun towards non-vintage cameras :) I personally prefer individual, labeled dials over PASM + control dials. I'm glad Fujifilm resurrected them.
if you are M focus mode and the rear dial button ( or other button ) set to "AF on" you get back button focus without turning shutter focus off in the AF modes.
As always on your channel, your review was very well done. As you illustrated, are many interesting options that might not immediately be appreciated. One of the major considerations is to consider that the new X-Pro3 with a "kit" 18-55 is about $700.00-800.00 more than the XT-3 with the same kit lens. I am NOT saying that one is better than the other, but merely pointing out that one pays a considerable premium for the X-Pro. Obviously there are features in the Pro that some might find worth the added expense. Indeed, in the final minute of your review you suggested that image quality of the X-Pro3 was exceptional. I think that many of us would be interested in knowing if such quality in the X-Pro is superior or different than the X-T3. Thanks again for these excellent presentations.
Required viewing for Fuji owners. I’ve been shooting Fuji for years but mostly just left everything stock and adapted myself. I’m definitely stealing a bunch of these suggestions!
Lots of reviewers are saying xpro3 is a bust… They even didn't put their hands on it! It's maybe the best digital street photography camera on the market. Good tips about custom fuction of the cameras (I already know them)… You can even never go to the menu system with fuji : just long press your display button and custom all your dials.
I'm used to changing shutter-speed with a top-dial without taking my eye from the finder from my Pentax MX. Totally not the most convenient place on a modern camera to have shutter speed, I'll admit, but I enjoy it on my Fujifilm XE1.
Hi. I tried the T setting for long exposure. But it was not actually taking a 30 second picture when i adjusted it. Could you explain more how to set up long exposure on fujixpro3?
I've also recently started shooting with the XPro3 and I love it. But one thing with the Q-Menu I have not yet understood. Does the camera prefer the setting in the Q menu or the simulation I set in the filmsulations menu? So far I assumed that it was the last one selected. But that doesn't seem to be true. I would be happy if you can help me.
I shoot with an X-Pro1. I love Fuji's promo videos for this camera, but I'm VERY anxious to see your real-world review of it. Just with the few examples that I've seen of that Classic Negative sim has me thinking of heading in this direction.
Is there a way to with the Fuji X-Pro3 that will permit a user to toggle between ISO Auto and alternatively setting the ISO on from the front wheel; dial. As I understood it, you could assign the right wheel to make those adjustments so long as you adjust the dial on the top of the camera to ‘C’ … That works nicely, but it seems when you switch that dial to “A” everything has to be re-set. Or am I wrong? Or missing a step?
Can you please cover the use of longer lenses in the X-Pro3? I have a 56mm f1.2 and a 90mm f2 that get a lot of use in street photography. I want to know if I'm going to be at a disadvantage just because I don't always want to get close.
These type tutorials are worth their weight in gold for the amateur/semi-pro photographer...nicely done Ted. I'm itching to purchase my first Fuji camera since they remind me so much of my first Nikon FM. Full disclosure though, I'm holding out for the X-T4? Care to forecast when Fuji might release it?
The focus range limiter is borrowed directly from Sony's older SLT cameras. Why they haven't implemented that on their mirrorless cameras, I'll have no idea. :(
Thank you for that very helpful summary of custom buttons setup. I’ll dive into this today on my XT-3. As always, your videos are always interesting and helpful. Cheers!
Two issues IMHO with the xpro3 for anyone who bothers to read this lol: 1) when shooting without the EVF enabled, the light meter has a significant lag time for whatever reason, and 2) Unless you keep half-pressing the shutter, the sleep mode will activate and may cause you to miss a shot if your out and about and need to capture something very quickly. That feature may be able to be disabled but just something I noticed. Definetely caused me to miss some shots
Had a Pro2 and plan on getting the Pro3. I like shooting the 23mm, 35mm and 50mm. Know where I'm going? As you know on the Pro2 you could change the magnification on the OVF so the 23mm and 35mm frame lines were virtually the same that the 50mm was usable. Based on my X100F, 23mm is usual, 35mm is still usable but the 50mm is just silly. I know they made some changes to the OVF but will definitely miss the two magnifications. Was there some technical reason or was the improvements of the new OVF so fantastic that I will be happy regardless of the inconvenience?
If it wasn’t so expensive I thing the X Pro 3 would be a good camera for beginners because it limits bells and whistles somewhat and makes you think more.
Exactly what I thin! But it's just too expensive for me. I am still a beginner in photography and started using my camera in manual mode as much as I can. The X-Pro3 would increase the learning curve dramatically!
Wish the Xpro3 was a real rangefinder, not just a viewfinder. Also wish they would redo the combined ISO/shutter button. I've remapped mine to the dials of course. But everytime I do a firmware update or send it in for a repair I have to do it again.
Hey Ted! I'm in the process of setting up my X-Pro3 and was wondering if there's a way to prevent the EVF panel from stowing itself when powering down the camera. Do you know if the X-Pro3 can keep the EVF in the "engaged" position at all times? This would be super handy when shooting with ultrawides and manual lenses... Unfortunately, I can't figure out what this setting might be called, making it tough to find in the user manual. Love your channel. Keep the good content coming!
My wife and I were early adopters of the X Pro-1 and the three prime lenses that were released with it. We have loved the camera and lenses except for the slow auto focus. I think it’s about time to upgrade, but we’re unsure if we should stay with Fuji or migrate to the Sony FF mirrorless cameras that have been so popular. I’d love to hear how you feel about the Fuji cameras vs the Sony A7 series cameras in your review.
Hi if you still have the xpro 1 try the Fuji 16-2.8, 23,35 and 50f2 these 4 lenses are small and fast autofocus and will give the xpro 1 a new lease of life, it really does make a big difference.
Since it is a pro camera (and different pros have different needs) maybe they should offer it with an LCD choice: fold down or articulating. If it comes with different bodies it could come with different screens!
Question for you... I use my camera to do photography (of course) so I have tons of info in my viewer. I also would like to use my camera as stream-camera (using an Elgato card) but to do this I need to remove everything from the viewer otherwise, people will see it. Is there a "one-button" to hide everything... ??
Is the detail of the XT3 good for printing? I'm currently working in a photography agency, and they told me the XT3 detail was crap for printing, and I'm talking about 30x30 prints, so not a big deal on paper. The XT3 was my dream camera, but I am really concerned with their opinion before buying it. Can you do a video about it?
alex fabricio same situation here, i really really want the XT3 but i’m also going to use it to produce pics that will be printed and i am a little bit concerned
One would suspect that if you are printing at such large sizes that the file from a full frame sensor would likely be superior for your needs. At prints up to perhaps 12x18 inches the files from an APSC sensor would likely be completely fine. I must add that if you are working professionally, and if one needs to crop the image before printing, then the larger file size would appear to be mandatory.
While I have seen some reviewers get comparable results with xt2 and 30x30 prints, the xt cameras would not be my first choice if I was primarily printing at that size or larger. I like going up to 16x20 with my xt2 at lower ISOs.
...then why not the GFX...? I assure you 'll have detail to spare... perhaps the agency has some interests in promoting other brands of cameras...who knows...!
All info is appreciated! But you know what is also appreciated. THE FUCKING LACK OF JUMPCATS EVERY 2 SECONDS. Can't believe there are people out there that can still talk for a min straight without cutting. Thanks sir!!
Here’s a question for you Ted: I love shooting my Leica film rangefinders and (and if I could afford it) would love to own a Leica M-D because it has no LCD screen. In your opinion can the X-pro 3 be set up to approximate the M-D/film rangefinder experience in a convincing/similar way? My X-Pro 3 arrives Monday so I suppose I’ll know shortly- but I’d love to hear your opinion! : )
I would love to hear more about the in-camera Auto HDR function. How does this affect the JPG and what type of RAW file are you getting when this function is on? I'm excited to understand Fujifilm's approach "AI" in photographs. I've always thought they could utilize this approach to create more film-like accuracy in there JPG's.
Hey man do you have a video about the best x mount telephoto lenses for VIDEO especially? I can't seem to choose between all the 50mm and up primes or maybe preferably the 55-140 if it can handle some low light and smooth focus when using af mode...Any thoughts?
Good tips. Hey I’d like to hear your perspective on computational photography and when camera manufacturers would finally catch up. Can you please discuss the topic if not already? Thanks!
Hi Ted, is it still impossible to set a slowest allowed shutter speed with auto-ISO in aperture priority mode? There is a user definable setting in X-T3 for example, but camera neglects it when thinks that a frame would be underexposed. So this setting is delusive for the user now.
Some great ideas here that I will be playing with, thank you. I did not realize that the T mode could go into higher speeds. Question, is there a way to lock the shutter speed limit on Auto ISO so that it is actually a limit. I have noticed that if the light falls below nominal exposure - say in P mode with Auto exposure on - the shutter speed will quickly drop below the LIMIT set if necessary. Why call it a LIMIT if it's not so? Perhaps I'm missing some vital aspect of the setup here to make this an actual LIMIT? Thanks, d
Thanks for sharing. I would also love how you setup film simulations, I shoot RAW + JPG and usually i use the JPG for instagram on the spot and leave the RAW for later edit/print. Do you have any preference on the settings for the JPGs, also any tip on how to see the results quickly to pick the settings for the shooting style. (Thanks from Costa Rica... pura vida!)
I have to report a bug on xpro 3 after the update. Somehow in my lcd lags and I have to switch off and on again the camera. It's bothering fuji please fix this
Hi, love your videos. I have one question: Does the Xpro3 offers focus peaking on Video? I can't find the answer anywhere. Please let me know. Thank you
Question: Any hacks to have a tripod plate on while retaining the ability to flip the screen all the way down? Unless Small Rig builds an abomination cage for it... i really cannot image what could be done. In the ideal situation, i would LOVE to have a L-Bracket similar to the one Small Rig made for GFX50R for the X-Pro3.
Dennis Lim The Peak Design standard plate (Arca Swiss compatible) can be mounted to allow the screen to flip most of the way down. It does stick out the front a little, but doesn’t appear to impede the lens, to at least not in the case of my f2 primes. I’ll see if I can photograph it set up and will post a reply if I manage it.
Love your videos man, but how do you do it all on one breath? :}

Great review Ted thank you for sharing with us! Just an off-topic question, is the DELETE text misaligned horizontally with the DRIVE on your X-Pro3 as well? I can't decide if this is a design decision or it's just a printing issue on my one. If anyone else can confirm either would be much appreciated.
im stupidly searching for an answer to the following: how far does the rear LCD fold down when on a tripod..? i would need it for some of my photography.
Great review and tips! Thank you. - But I can't get my X-pro 3 to recognize that I have remapped the Fn2 button to AF Range Limiter. It is now marked as such in the menu, but pressing that Fn2 button (on the viewfinder lever, front of camera) nothing happens. No menu pops up. Is there a scenario where that AF Range Limiter is not available? Thanks! (So much to learn on this beast.)
@Naturally Art I see, I'm doing some research on what is the best mirrorless camera to purchase and I I'm leaning on purchasing this one Fujifilm X pro3 silver with Dura, but I see it's just for photography and no video it's a shame for such great looking camera
Great tips, X-Pro3 seems like such a great camera ! I own a pair of X-H1 and i'd like to ask a question to you or the community about the topic : i haven't been able to map the ISO setting (way to switch between 1, 2 or 3) to any function buton or quick menu, has anybody managed to do that ?
Tell/show Image quality or more precisely image detail. I feel my xe-3 details are kind of slushy. It feels like af is not accure enough🤔 and of course that classic negative!
I'm kind of hoping Fujifilm will put out an XE3s with this sensor. The XE form is perfect for me, but if I was buying a new Fujifilm, I'd have to choose another camera for the new sensor.
I firmly believe that reviewing images in the EVF will be too immersive, therefore not optimal for working, you could miss what is happening around. To flip out the screen on assignment does not seem very sustainable either. Shame, because I think the range finder-style is a great for professional work.
Totally understand. I really thought about returning the camera but have now fully adapted and prefer it for photography. Not so good for video. I’m now more analytical and faster before the shot like I was in the distant past with a film SLR.
skeeterbait How do you find the image quality from it? I was never over impressed especially anything from iso 3200. I still have the money in the camera store wondering what system to buy in too.
@Naturally Art if you cant afford the xpro3, the xpro2 is still extremely capable. The main difference is the generation old sensor but it's not a huge difference. In fact, the XPro2 is better with certain focal lengths because the optical viewfinder has multiple magnification levels. The Xpro3 only has one.
@Naturally Art Oh, that makes more sense! Shockingly, they did change the OVF and it's set in a single magnification now. Where the Xpro2 had 0.36 and 0.60 magnification, the Xpro3 only has 0.52.
Naturally Art not that it is completely noticeable, but to what I could see it has better dynamic range which is good for your art form, and it is quicker to shoot and focus, well worth the upgrade if you’re using it professionally
Thank you for the tip using the 'T' selection on the SS dial, utilizing the back dial on the camera. Thank You
You can also long press the DISP BACK button to go faster to the FN button setting menu (on the X-T3 at least) :)

X-T3 great, great camera. X-Pro 3 LCD is a downer. Great video.
Haben sie Probleme mit dem Sub Montor?
Did he ever end up making that review? I cant find it
Thank you. In your review it would be interesting to learn more about picture quality and also in relation to raw versus jpeg. Thank you.
Keep debating on trading my a7iii for the X-Pro3. Am I nuts?
Dylan Digby do it, i did it N i did not regret it
No you were not, did you do it

have Sony and Canon, but Fuji is the next in the line up without question !
fuji MUST give the X-T3 the customization options of the xpro-3, or i am going to start crying... 😿📸
Punk Rachmaninoff don’t fret. xt3 can do this too.
Good tips. Hey I’d like to hear your perspective on computational photography and when camera manufacturers would finally catch up. Can you please discuss the topic if not already? Thanks!

What was the lens on your xpro 3 on this video? Thanks
Jerry Qian 35 1.4
I believe it was the 35mm 1.4? 🤔
lol - it might have been the 35mm 1.4 ;-)
When I put my shutter on T the front it doesn't change to front dill! Can anyone help
Fuji please give us some light prime lenses
18-55mm 55-200mm excellent light
Hi, love your videos. I have one question: Does the Xpro3 offers focus peaking on Video? I can't find the answer anywhere. Please let me know. Thank you
Looks like a very nice camera - but I vote no to the downward view screen!
Understood. After one week I’m used to the change and now prefer it for photography. Not a good choice for video

Hello, pls suggest your fav camera Sony 6400 or Fuji XT 39. I am little bit confused whether to go with Sony or Fuji.
@Naturally Art thank you sorry typo mistake XT 30.
Nice, have the xt3 and xpro2. Love the camera but hate not having $. Maybe sell my older gear before I consider.
im stupidly searching for an answer to the following: how far does the rear LCD fold down when on a tripod..? i would need it for some of my photography.
on the reviews I've seen - it doesn't.
I’m curious, how does the Pro 3 have better picture quality than the X-T3 if they both have the same sensor? I’m debating which to get. Thanks.
the xpro-3 doesn't have anything different in the IQ department than the X-T3...
Im in same boat, my head is telling me xt3 but the pro body is dope in silver.
Naturally Art .....well how about this one.....the X-T3 does 4K 60 and the Pro 3 only 30fps. Pay more for less video capability? Nah!
very, very very useful video to me!!! Thanks a lot!
Maybe you had the switch in the front on manual focus?
I thought the rear dial didn’t push in like the XPro-2 does?
It does. It’s the front dial that doesn’t.
its the new dura camera be the same as this one only having a titanium and waterproof body?
@Naturally Art thanks for the reply
@Naturally Art I see, I'm doing some research on what is the best mirrorless camera to purchase and I I'm leaning on purchasing this one
Fujifilm X pro3 silver with Dura, but I see it's just for photography and no video it's a shame for such great looking camera
@Naturally Art I want to purchase the latest and newest technology I'm also leaning on the fujifilm X-A7 what's your thoughts
@Naturally Art. What is your take on the sony 6600
When you watch the video and dont even own a fuji 🤦♂️
Tell/show Image quality or more precisely image detail. I feel my xe-3 details are kind of slushy. It feels like af is not accure enough🤔 and of course that classic negative!
I'm kind of hoping Fujifilm will put out an XE3s with this sensor. The XE form is perfect for me, but if I was buying a new Fujifilm, I'd have to choose another camera for the new sensor.
'T" Selection has always been there on previous models...
I firmly believe that reviewing images in the EVF will be too immersive, therefore not optimal for working, you could miss what is happening around. To flip out the screen on assignment does not seem very sustainable either. Shame, because I think the range finder-style is a great for professional work.
Thank you for the tips friend you’re the best
Why simulate film when a high end pro film camera is an easy buy and you can actually use film ?
Toomuch speed.... Not understand.....😢 for what's speed?
everyone who is blaming this camera just use it the wrong way. :)
first! - finally, after 5 years of watching this channel. i got a first. :)
no, it does not matter, the world is not a better place, not will i take better photos by being first. still... little victories matter.
I sadly couldn’t put up with the screen so it had to go back. 😔
Very speed.... Not understand ! 😢
I just got hands on my Xpro-3 (schmitzoide on Instagram) and yes the image quality is very impressive. Thank you for the tips!
Nice photos, dude
@Naturally Art if you cant afford the xpro3, the xpro2 is still extremely capable. The main difference is the generation old sensor but it's not a huge difference. In fact, the XPro2 is better with certain focal lengths because the optical viewfinder has multiple magnification levels. The Xpro3 only has one.
@Naturally Art Oh, that makes more sense! Shockingly, they did change the OVF and it's set in a single magnification now. Where the Xpro2 had 0.36 and 0.60 magnification, the Xpro3 only has 0.52.
Thoren thank you!
Naturally Art not that it is completely noticeable, but to what I could see it has better dynamic range which is good for your art form, and it is quicker to shoot and focus, well worth the upgrade if you’re using it professionally
pleas do vido bout xpro3. thank
Chimpers should stay away from the xpro3
this camera so sexy
Interesting how dials are no longer traditional, but the 'idiot' green square is 😅
i dont like the screen
Succinct!
"Im not talking about the screen" ok im not watching your video
All the effort you could have spent on something else to comment on.
@@Zenutheduck no dude, nobody has addressed this screen, i want to see if it will flip when its on a tripod. my guess is no, what an awful design.
