So many people get hung up on having the "latest and greatest" camera gear that they forget, for the past 15 years, cameras have been taking absolutely amazing quality photos. If they went out and really learned how to shoot with what they have and really developed their craft with the tools they already own and know, they'll likely get a better result than they would by "upgrading" their camera and having to feel like they now need to incorporate all the new features of this tool into their craft. I've seen college students with starter kit cameras get better results than people shooting professionally because they are forced to learn how to use their tool in unique ways. You're absolutely right that obsolescence is obsolete.
How much are you people going to beat that dead horse? Of course you're not wrong, but there is way more nuance to it that you're leaving out, so it's not entirely correct either depending on one's needs. Someone who loves taking photos from high and low angles for example will benefit hugely from upgrading to a camera with flip-out display if their current one doesn't have it. I have many favorite photos I wouldn't have been able to take without it. I also have lots of photos that I simply wouldn't have been able to take without the IBIS in my X-T5. Either because I wanted hand-held long exposure for the stylistic effect, or had to use up to 1/4s hand-held in extreme darkness. So, not everything about a new/different camera is about the paper specs like megapixels or FPS. So you're not wrong, but you're also oversimplifying it too much.
@@fotografalexandernikolis OP really isn't not oversimplifying it. Is it EASIER with the latest and greatest? Obviously. But is it IMPOSSIBLE to get those supposed shots you "can't get without X and Y? Absolutely not. It is 100% entirely possible, but you have to be creative enough (outside of lenses, focal lengths, etc. being a factor). That's entirely what photography is about, getting creative. Just because you aren't able to get a shot right away from lack of creativity, doesn't mean it's impossible. There are MANY shots you weren't prepared for even with the latest and greatest. I was stuck on an iPhone X for the last 5+ years, in which, it's been dying for the last 2-3. I honed my photography style and skills better than I ever have before in my life. Been shooting for 15+ years now. Just recently picked up a Nikon D800 with a few prime lenses for $600, and I absolutely do not regret, not getting the latest and greatest, because I don't need it. I'm not saying you can't *want* to get the latest and greatest, but to think it's necessary is wholly misinforming and just plain wrong. I'll sit here with my photography equipment that will do *JUST* as good in terms of overall quality, for a third of the price, and I'll be damn happy about it. P.S. Picked up a Nikon D200 from 2005 as well. Having more fun and getting better shots on that camera than I have ever before in my life. 2005, CCD sensor, 10mp. You don't *NEED* any of the latest and greatest. Except MAYBE if you're a world-class photographer for Nat Geo, or Time, etc.
@@thedude130 Well you're also kind of ignoring the fact that creativity and technical possibility are two separate things that go hand in hand. Take a bird photographer for example, obviously the good ones have amazing skill and creativity, but those properties can't replace the technical need for a telephoto lens. You wouldn't tell a bird shooter to buy an old manual focus 28mm f2.8 lens and then tell them "you're just lacking skill if you don't get good shots of birds in flight with that lens". If what you have works for you then great, but true knowledge also means being able to see when a certain situation actually requires a better tool. Try taking a hand held long exposure (1/2s) of a waterfall without IBIS. If you're in a pinch and didn't bring a tripod, there's no creativity that can help you there. Creativity is obviously the basis, and you won't get good shots without it. But to say that certain features are only a "want" is ignorant. It depends entirely on what you're trying to do. It's like the "the customer is always right argument" where the other half is often left out: "in terms of taste". And similarly the argument "a bad photographer won't get better with a new camera" argument is also missing the other half: "But an ALREADY good photographer who can make use of newer features can get better results in some situations". An already good videographer will benefit from a camera with better battery life. An already good wildlife shooter will benefit from better AF, and so on. This is the other half of the coin that people like you always fail to acknowledge for some reason. This isn't to say that everyone should rush out and buy the latest stuff. But to make it sound like the latest stuff is completely pointless is just flat out false. That's why I'm saying the discussion needs more nuance!
@@fotografalexandernikolis I stated that there are logical factors here based in reality. OBVIOUSLY you're not going to be taking close up photos of birds with a 28mm lens. That doesn't even need mentioning lmfao. Didn't even bother reading the rest of that. My point remains, skill issue. 😂

This was the first mirrorless camera I bought about 8 years ago used. I also had the X100. There was something about both of these cameras that kept bringing me back. They are beautiful, enjoyable to use, and provide underrated and EXCELLENT results still today more than 10 years after they come out. I still have my XPro 1 and to this day still believe it is the closest thing to shooting film. I am convinced I will keep my Xpro 1 for the rest of my life.
I absolutely love my X-Pro1 and find myself using it more than my X-T2 just because of how simple and good it feels to hold and shoot. Plus, there is just something about the colors in the images it produces
I was a Fuji X photographer, and this is so true. These cameras are pretty much all the same. So much hype. I love my older Fuji cameras and will never get rid of them. One is the Xpro 1, the other is the Xpro2.
Respect to the classics. While not on the same level, I purchased a 10 year old Pentax last year. Couldn't be happier, and big upgrade from my 2006 Pentax. Good cameras still take good photos even when they're old. Especially if you work around or showcase it's flaws. Love the older cameras. This Fuji is stunning, and so are the photos
This Camera & the X-E1 are the best cameras' Fujifilm ever made in my opinion. The original X-Trans sensor is just so "real". I love something about it that i don't think carried on. There is something about this sensor and body design (xe1included) that is perfect to me. The resolution from this sensor with the new fuji lenses pushes way past its weight. I will never not have one. It is that special to me. Even more with vintage lenses !
Thanks for this video! I just bought one and I’m really happy with it. It’s my first ever camera for traveling and since I’m a street and cyberpunk guy I really do enjoy the grain of it 🙌🏼
Well. I wanted to buy an X-Pro2 in the near future but I'm really on the budget right now. You just sold me the X-Pro1 with this video. Very professional, real BladeRunner and Cyberpunk vibes. Keep it up.
bought this camera in 2019 for 350 euros and I've used it pretty much everyday since then. Love this camera. It's nearing the end of its life now so I'm slowly transitioning to a full leica kit. Gonna miss the x-pro when it finally kicks the bucket.
i actually sold all my gear recently to preorder the x100vi, and opted for an x-pro3 instead. best decision ive ever made. of course you come out with this the week after. MY GOAT.
Dude. I just discovered this video. Man this is genius. Love the style. Love the subject. Last year (2023) i treated myself with a Fuji XE-1. It has the similar X-Trans1 Sensor and I adore this camera.
Have had mine since 2016. Got it for $400 and i haven’t let it go because 1. Form factor and 2. Which is super niche, how it renders double exposure. Where modern fujis uses some sort of overlay blend mode. The xpro1 utilizes what seems to be a lighten blend mode (speaking in Ps terms). Of course outside of all that it still takes bangers.
The X-Pro 2 is my go to camera every day, I don't go outside without it, and the first gen 18mm F2. This camera took various beatings, even beer was thrown at it (and the 18mm is not waterproof), and it works like it never happened to it. Beautiful, extremely reliable, and make beautiful photos.
Despite its age and a couple little quirks, this is one of my favorite photo cameras I've owned. The pictures looked incredible. I traded mine in recently and already regret it.
I remember having a number of these lenses way back in the '20s. I still have the 60 F2.4 for an old (still functioning!) Fujifilm X-T2. People are always asking me what it is and are surprised that you actually have to use your hands to control it, they are even more perplexed when I explain it only captures tiny 2-dimensional images and not the immersive memories captured automatically by personal drones.
Among my cameras, I have an X-E1....same sensor, smaller with all you need. It's a great cheap camera and is Rapidly becoming a favorite again because of that sensor. It is out more than my X-Pro 3. You may want to consider one.
@@paynalward6921yeah, don't just go for the hype ones. There's plenty of cameras even in the nice physical controls layout like Fuji even in other brands.
Man that shot at around 1:21 in combination with the sound design is just *chef’s kiss*, next level. Do you mind sharing what lens you were using for this sequence? The circular flare is magical.
I own the original Fujifilm X-Pro1 with the original 35mm 1.4 and yes, my father had an old Fujica auto 7 (that now belongs to me), and finally yes, I bought the Fuji when it came out just because, well look at it! And yes I still use this awesome camera!
Great work on this video! Always cool to learn about older digital cameras that are awesome! Question: What filter are you using on your "cyberpunk headset" voiceover?
The 60 is a surprisingly enjoyable lens. And apparently benefits immensely from the focus limiter on the newer bodies. The 18 and 35 are two lenses I will never sell, along with my X-Pro2. The OVF magnifications pair too perfectly with those lenses and they balance so well on the body.
I sold my XPRO 1 in favour of a 2 because the 1 is a bit of a pain in the ass to use, the pro 2 was a huge leap forward in usability while still keeping the same formula that makes the 1 so amazing
I have bought and sold many cameras of various systems over a couple of decades. But they will have to pry my original X-Pro1 with the 35/1.4 from my cold, dead fingers when I've left this world. The one camera/lens combo I will never ever sell. I shot the majority of my most favorite images with this combo.
Recently I bought one in very good condition and become my principal camera for street photography (with the fujinon 35/1.4). I like so much the first and second generation of Xtrans sensor!
Very cool, love your production quality and storytelling. X-pro3 user but have gone throught the x100, x-e1, x-e2 and xe-4. the x-e1 and 2 have a special place in my heart and I still use them alongside the original Sony A7 and X20.
I had the X-PRO1. The exposure compensation dial was far too easy to knock and adjust. Corrected on the X-PRO2, which was (and remains) a superb camera.
GX, you continue to inspire and amaze me I still and always will remember coming across your channel when you was at 30k subscribers and remembering you hit 100k merely a couple weeks after that, I find my passion for photography can sometimes feel stale and dwindling but you revive it almost everytime and keep me inspired, I bought my first proper camera because of your videos, about 2 years ago. Im sure there are many others with a similar story to this and all our inspiration originated from you, as always, amazing work!
Honestly I've never used a Fuji camera I didn't like, they all just feel so good. Also, I love that you've really upped your sound design lately as well in these videos. Completely unrivaled in this space. Keep it up man.

Wonderful work once again. This is one of those cameras I've always wanted to try but could never justify.
every time i watch one of your videos i find it incredible that they actually exist, they are just sooo good
Thanks for this video!
Keep it up.
The production value of you’re videos are actually so insane, always so snazzy
Nice Mr. Robot reference!
Scroll down to this 🤓
I have an X-Pro 1 and I think I will never sell it. I also have an X-100S, a nice camera but I prefer the X-100T instead.
Man I feel like discovering and watching your videos has been a life altering experience for me. Wow.
bought this camera in 2019 for 350 euros and I've used it pretty much everyday since then.
MY GOAT.
yeah that 14.2khz noise is, noticable. adds to the experience i will say
Interesting - examples?
I'm a newish X-Pro 1 user and can't agree more. For my needs it's a fantastic camera and yields beautiful results!
I came for a camera review and somehow ended up with a piece of art
Reviews aren’t supposed to make you feel things, but somehow each of your videos do, amazing work.
Had it, do not miss it. Switched to X-E2, which I do miss sometimes. Viewfinder much better, diopter correction, overall smarter camera.
Wonder when the X70 video will come. Awesome video as usual.
Despite its age and a couple little quirks, this is one of my favorite photo cameras I've owned. The pictures looked incredible. I traded mine in recently and already regret it.
As always, I love your work. So inspiring. Never change dude
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I've been waiting for the prices to fall below $400 they were so close!!!!!!
Yeah the price shot up like crazy overnight
Literally one of my favorite RUclips channels. No matter what genre of videos. Keep it up!!
I stopped packing to take a break and watch this masterpiece.
this video actually convinced me to switch from a X-T10 to an X-pro1 and I'm so happy tbh
I remember having a number of these lenses way back in the '20s. I still have the 60 F2.4 for an old (still functioning!) Fujifilm X-T2. People are always asking me what it is and are surprised that you actually have to use your hands to control it, they are even more perplexed when I explain it only captures tiny 2-dimensional images and not the immersive memories captured automatically by personal drones.
and now that this video is out, the frikin xpro - i have been scouting for weeks for is gonna go up 1000% in price.
thanks ace
Among my cameras, I have an X-E1....same sensor, smaller with all you need. It's a great cheap camera and is Rapidly becoming a favorite again because of that sensor. It is out more than my X-Pro 3.
You may want to consider one.
@@paynalward6921thanks m8!
@@paynalward6921yeah, don't just go for the hype ones. There's plenty of cameras even in the nice physical controls layout like Fuji even in other brands.
insane results with this sensor, its the slowest camera ive used but the images it produces makes it worth
Yall youtubers gotta realize you are the reason you CAN’T buy these cameras 😭😭😭
I mean i got it 6 six years ago, is mad someone made a video on it
Please don’t ever stop making these videos.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Thanks I bought this camera today
Man that shot at around 1:21 in combination with the sound design is just *chef’s kiss*, next level. Do you mind sharing what lens you were using for this sequence? The circular flare is magical.
Can we talk about this intro? My god. Seems like you reached another level my dude.
The music is so well edited, on spot every time.
New to photography and watching your videos reminds me there's a long way to go
It's very exciting
I had the original x100 for a decade, then upgraded to X-Pro2. What an amazing camera. I sometimes regret selling it, even though I moved to M10.
I've been using mine for 12 years. I just got the outer body rubber replaced directly by Fuji. Amazing customer service and build quality.
Amazing didn’t know they would do that. What was the cost ? I’ve got an xpro2 and it showing some wear.
@@loteq101 it was 120€
I picked up my Xpro1 last year and it was one of the best purchases I've made. Such a fun camera to shoot with. Great video as always
Recently I bought one in very good condition and become my principal camera for street photography (with the fujinon 35/1.4). I like so much the first and second generation of Xtrans sensor!
These videos were the first time I realised exactly what I wanted my photography to be. Thank you for inspiring me!
Very cool, love your production quality and storytelling. X-pro3 user but have gone throught the x100, x-e1, x-e2 and xe-4. the x-e1 and 2 have a special place in my heart and I still use them alongside the original Sony A7 and X20.
I love my X-E2s so much.
I had the X-PRO1. The exposure compensation dial was far too easy to knock and adjust. Corrected on the X-PRO2, which was (and remains) a superb camera.
Brother, I just found your channel and I am just floored by the production of your content. Keep it up! You are so talented!
Still have my XPro 1, last year Fuji agreed to service my camera and it is mint!
It's a good day when I see a new video from you in my feed.
Im sure there are many others with a similar story to this and all our inspiration originated from you, as always, amazing work!
thanks to all these youtube videos i now paying more on a X PRO 1 than when it was new A FEW YEARS AGO!
Honestly I've never used a Fuji camera I didn't like, they all just feel so good.
Also, I love that you've really upped your sound design lately as well in these videos. Completely unrivaled in this space. Keep it up man.
Hard to believe this is a review video, mate. Your editing is next-level, feels like I'm watching a sci-fi scene straight out of a blockbuster movie
The quality of your content is phenomenal, it is like crack for the eyes and ears. There is no hesitation when i see a new post, i just click.
PS. What a thrill to meet Sato Jun, you must have been floating after that encounter ❤
If anything Fujifilm X-Pro2 is the legendary camera. It's a lot better than X-Pro1, X-Pro3, and in some aspects it's even better than X100VI.
actually my first digital camera after shooting film for a year. Love this camera so much
