Cory Wells, was one of the very best who came out of the blue-eyed Soul genre. he could lay it down like no other, he was the soul voice of the Three Dog Night band, as you can tell on this one including.
🔥🔥🔥 FIRE. Cory Welles hit it out of the park. Phenomenal performance!!!
They said they weren't songwriters, but they were extremely talented in arranging other people's songs. I'm a big fan. RIP Corey
The mighty Cory "Eli" Wells, Mr. Soulman!
They were my first concert when"Shambala came out 🥰I loved them from their start❤️concert was Great
Oh my goodness! I'm 70 and never knew this was an Otis Redding song!
Wow is not the word. This group sang this song that reached into your soul.
Cory was known for dancing and moving all over the stage. He felt the music. What a voice!
Outstanding rendition. Hands down, one of the best. Filled with soul, their emotion and Three Dog Night made it their own. The vocalists delivered a great performance.
Corey Wells is just magical!
Three dog night was more than the three singers, it was the whole band! They were very tight!
Absolute joy and tears going on at the same time for Cory's energy and outstanding performance .Rest in peace Cory wells .....
Cory Wells was a fabulous singer and a truly good human being.
Cory Wells was a fantastic singer and performer. A great underrated singer. He did Otis proud!!
They were my favorite during this time
Epic performance by Cory Welles !!!...he was on.. that nite !...Corey loved Otis Wilson and put his heart into this song of Otis !..sadly. they are both not with us anymore but have left us with such a rich heritage to enjoy ! Three Dog Nite ! what a group !...they had so , so many great hits !! db
I saw them in concert and yes Corie did it just like that every time. It was great. R.I.P Corey
I appreciate this group more and more every time I listen to them.
Cory Wells kills it ✌️
I am obsessed with Cory Wells RIP💔
My favorite cover of this song. Corey Wells is phenomenal. RIP Corey
Awww, the first person I got an autograph from.... Corey Wells, RIP and then I got all the other members' as well! Great concert!
I've been back to watch this 5-6 more times!! Eli's Coming live will knock your socks off, Harri! 3 Dog Night doesn't have a bad song!
This lead is Corey Wells. The tall guy with the mustache is Chuck Negron and the shorter curly haired guy is Danny Hutton. All there are amazing singers.
Definitely that's what added to the greatness of the sensational group
All 3 vocalists were tall: Chuck Negron is 6' 5-1/2", Danny is 6'2" and Cory was 6', so none of them were short.
So True & still my Favorite Group!
That was Cory singing that song. He had great vocals. The three lead singers of the group had great harmony. They were my favorite Rock & Roll band back in the day. Cory is not with us any longer, RIP Cory.
Love Corey.. he and Otis are singing in heaven.. right this damn second!
Cory Wells was a Singers, singer, the soul of the 3 frontmen of 3 Dog Night.
I am soooooo happy that you got the right live version of this fabulous group. 3 Dog Night....some of the best singers of the genre.
He was rockin' out!!! That crowd stinks!! One guy jamming! I'd be jumpin'! Luv ya 🥰
Cory Wells had a lot of soul in him and his voice!!! RIP CORY!!
They are one of my favorite bands. They could do any type of song and it was nothing short of amazing. Can you check out Black and White, another great one by them!
The late great Corey Wells. He expressed his love for Soul music in interviews & it shows. Wished he could have done an album of R& B before he passed. He had the voice for it.
I didn't know Corey passed. So sad.
Definitely the best of the best
@@ANNEAVES : Yes, he died in 2015 of multiple myeloma, a blood cancer at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY, about 40 miles from his hometown, Buffalo.
@@jenniferrogers2492 so sad. He was awesome.
I was blessed to have met him 6 month before he passed 🙏 his voice was spot on ❤❤❤ rest in peace.
Most studio versions are better than live shows, but here 3 dog night is at least as good as the studio version
This is Cory Welles one of the greatest singers ever. I knew you would really dig this I heard it back then late 60s. Believe it was their first recording. What a way to start their long successful career. Definitely one of my favorite songs ever.
He probably watched Otis perform this over and over until he felt he could do it justice, and the moves just came.
One of the greatest band names of all time.
Corey Wells is AMAZING! I am so glad you played this particular venue! It is the absolute best. If you ever want to see them for a little funk, you should look at the same venue for "Brickyard Blues".
One of my favorites Corys vocals are top notch! Thank you for sharing!☮️❤️🙏😎
Three Dog Night is an American rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. They had great songs such as "One" (written by Harry Nilsson), "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Shambala", "Joy To The World", "Liar", "Mama Told Me Not To Come", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
All good songs by a top notch band. There are quite a few more good ones that you didn't mention but my favourite one by them is 'Out in the Country'.
@@festidious2644 Beat Club version is the best
@@festidious2644 Harri did that one a few months again.
Great songs 🎵 🥰
Add Black and White to the list 🥰
@@juliewhite7469 and also pieces of April
Harri, I have an obsession for Three Dog Night. They loved and respected Otis Redding. No disappointment on this version. Glad you enjoyed it. Way to go Daniel Volk!!! Outstanding!!! 👍
Thanks Imadrummin. I still owe you many songs as you have brought me many hours of great requests pal. 😉👍
Everybody loved and respected the Otis! 😊
Everything the Three Dog Night sang were hits.. Cory was the man doing an awesome job here; all three main vocalists were gr8. Listen to the Three Dog do "One" with Chuck Negron singing live on stage and then listen to John Farnham from Australia do "One" live on stage. I think John is the only other singer besides TDN who can do that song justice and wail. And TDN's "Out in the Country" is a ballad and "Black and White" with Danny Hutton taking lead is awesome. Cory always "got down", dancing like that. And Cory & Otis are having a party in heaven, because Cory has passed on. RIP Cory & Otis xx
I grew up with this fabulous band...their vocals were brilliant..thanks for reacting Harri! Love you!!!
💘✌🏾😍
They were a hit machine. I saw then in ‘72 in Chicago. 3 part harmony covering some great songwriters, including Harry Nilsson.✌️❤️🎶
Loved 💗your reaction to Try a Little Tenderness by Three Dog Night 💜💎 RIP Corey 😇 he & Otis are jamming together in music heaven ☮️🥰
"Try a Little Tenderness" is a song written by Jimmy Campbell, Reg Connelly, and Harry M. Woods. It was first recorded on December 8, 1932, by the Ray Noble Orchestra, with vocals by Val Rosing. Another version, also recorded in 1932, was made by Charlie Palloy & his Orchestra.
I have come back to this review multiple times. Loved the band. Love this song. Love Otis. And love your reaction. They do justice to the version created by Otis. Homage to a genius by an excellent group.
They could rock it in concerts and sound just as good as a recording plus they had a great time performing too. All three of the lead singers were so very talented and took turns singing or backup singing...this group had so many top hits...Cory had a great voice as did Chuck. Danny did too but was mostly backup in a lot of their songs. My sister had a friend in college who was dating their drummer for awhile.
They certainly did rock in their concerts👏👏👏
With three lead singers they managed to coved many different artist.
THREE DOG NIGHT, "TRY SOME TENDERNESS", The first time I heard this it sent me into a frenzy. Cory Wells sang this song, and showed the respect too the great Otis Redding. RIP Cory I miss those late 60's and up to mid 70's, when THREE DOG NIGHT put out 21 straight charting hits. Simply Awesome. The 3 singers Cory Wells, Chuck Negron, and Danny Hutton, Shared taking lead vocals. All three were magnificent. Thanks Harry you're the reactor to give your sincere thoughts about this awesome song..
Three Dog Night couldn't be beat live...
Great musicians
The organist was the late, great, fantastic Jimmy Greenspoon. RIP Jimmy.
That's the kind of tenderness that I grew up with and LOVE!
It blows my mind the disrespect of the RRHOF towards "Three Dog Night" who deserve to be in along with "Blood Sweat and Tears " and "The Guess Who" before anyone else. There are many!!! Steppenwolf, Grand Funk Railroad, Jethro Tull, The Spinners, Badfinger, Foghat, Dick Dale, Bad Company etc.. etc....
I'm waiting for someone to do something for bands forgotten and disrespected by the RRHOF. Someone can bring some extra light to the matter! 🎸☮️💕
RIP Cory and Otis. Thanks Harri. Great reaction . 👍🤴🇬🇧🇨🇦🇺🇸🇺🇦🔥🙃
Corey Welles on vocals. Three Dog Night was one of the most eclectic bands of their era. No two songs sounded alike. They performed songs wrtiien by the best songwriters of the period. Three lead singers gave them a lot of range.
Three Dog Night had some great recordings. Would love to see your reaction to Eli’s Coming, which was a big hit for them. You will be in for a real treat Harri. Thank you for this reaction. 👏👏🇨🇦
This and Eli are my favorites.
I would love to see you react to their performance of Laura Nyro's "Eli's Coming" from that very same live show. It's a complete tent revival in 6 or so minutes.
Thank you for showing that would agree performance well done
Three Dog Night had '3' unbelievable vocalists. Check more out by them.
What's the deal with the audience? Wish he had the opportunity to play at a music festival. He deserved a crowd that threw it right back at him! Cory, you were one of the best! 💔
I took this band for granted back in the day, but I have gained a whole new level of respect for Three Dog Night of late. Nice reaction Harri! Your open mindedness is very impressive. 🌺✌️
I always appreciate how respectfully you listen to most of an entire song before cutting in to comment. Makes me enjoy your company and feel as though we're in the moment together.
Got me! Never heard this before. Dudes on fire! Love it!!
Three Dog Night also covered this song on their album "Captured Live At The Forum". Performed in front of a live audience.
Beat Club 1972 is the best version
Love the Captured live at the forum Album !
Love, love Otis....and ' Three Dog Night' honored the song "Respect".....
Good job here.....love your reviews....
AND I LOVE YOUR COLORS !!!!!
I saw Three Dog Night at the Pocono Raceway rock concert during a two day rock concert in July 8-9 1972 that featured a number of bands. We got there on a friday night, a van load of us, and Three Dog Night was the last group to perform on that sunday, after a weekend of rain. They were so good, it just energized the whole crowd of 100,000+. A mini Woodstock!
Cory Wells was awesome! See: “LIVE 1972 Try a little tenderness” & Three dog night LIVE - Jam 1972
You can never go wrong with Three Dog Night
RIP Cory, you were my favorite!
Your choices for tonight are making an old gal squeal. Lol. Spot On Harri.
This cover has to be my favourite for this song. Otis planted the seed.Three Dog Night blow this song out of the water. Put your seat belt on. By the end of this song you'll need it. Told you Harri.
Super reaction. Thanks Harri and Daniel.
What a night for choices. I'm to the moon and back on this one. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks for your kind comments. 🙃👍🔥🇨🇦🇺🇸🇺🇦🇬🇧🤴👍🙃
One of the best bands, vocalists of the 70's and STILL going strong, finding a new audience!!
A great evening of watching submissions, thanks, Harri.
Daniel, I had never seen this performance, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!!
Thanks for the nice remarks davebzen
I tried a little tenderness to my reaction towards Three Dog Night doing this song. They sound great! However, and this is just a personal opinion, no one will ever do it better then Otis. Beautiful song either way.
That had some kick to it sure enough
I think Dagmar said it very well below, Three Dog Night were phenomenal live. They could take covers of other's songs and make them their own. They had three lead singers who didn't play instruments, just sing, and all three were equally talented. Adding one more song to Dagmar's below, their cover of The Band's Chest Fever was really really good as well. Great reaction Harri!
Ditto on "Chest Fever," and their mostly acapella "It's For You," a McCartney composition that REALLY showcases their vocal gymnastics!
Yes they were fabulous 👍👍
You really need to listen to The Commitments version. It's fantastic
It was originally recorded in 1932 by the Ray Noble Orchestra with vocals by Val Rosing. Others went on to record it in the thirties. It was a tender acknowledgement of suffering during the depression.
Most people probably think of Dock Of The Bay when they think of Otis, but this one and "These Arms Of Mine" by Otis are epic for me. Love 3DN and this is a great rendition. It takes grapes to cover Otis.
Actually, this song was written and performed by many artists, including Frank Sinatra, in the 1950s, I think. It was sung long before Otis Redding sang it, but his is a fine version.
I was fortunate to have seen them live three times back in the 70s. They gave amazing performances all three times. So glad you like them Harri.
The song dates from the early '30s and was reecorded by Frank Sinatra for his debut album in 1946.
The mighty Cory "Eli" Wells, Mr. Soulman!
It’s kindof like “apples and oranges”. Each version is different from the other, but each has its own, unique beauty.
I saw them in person, and they sang this song! I was extremely surprised what a great cover. But Three Dog Night was very talented. They knew how to sing almost anything.😊
Brought back some great memories! Thank you!
In case you are wondering, the origin of the name Three Dog Night comes from arctic residents who would jokingly measure how cold it was by how many sled dogs you had to sleep with to keep from freezing. Simply, a 3 dog night was cold.
Love Three Dog Night! My favorite version of this song is from the 1969 live album “Captured live at the Forum “
I totally agree about Live at the Forum. Loved it. 🙃👍😉
Otis is unique in music and to me.
Don't remember ever hearing the TDN cover before.
It IS a great tribute to Otis Redding! 😘😘😘😘😘
On tour, the singer, Corey Wells, would find local black churches and listen to and often sing with the choirs. He was the real deal.
Their '69 Live at the Forum was my first album purchase and was on heavy repeat. This song was on there, but it was not nearly as great as this one. He really did seem to embody Otis on this one. They gave great concert.
You'll love his version of A Change Gonna Come... The first time I ever heard of Three Dog Night was in winter 1969 and i heard this song on the radio! Awesome!! He did it as a tribue to Otis. He was a big fan. He always does the song the way through the years. Have a good night, ,Harry!
Love love Three Dog Night❤❤❤❤ Was a teenager in the bands era. Such great music.
Saw them in concert once. Incredible showmen. Seems like yesterday.
We will cherish the music you gave us! Rest in Peace, Corey.
To many Hits. Three Dog Night. ✌️🍷
This entire concert from Soundstage is absolutely amazing. I’m pretty sure the whole thing is on You Tube and should be watched for a really great live performance. In 1975 there was no auto tune or electronic help for the singers and band and their harmony was unbeatable.
Just saw 3 Dog Night a week ago! Sound as amazing as they did 50 yrs ago when I saw them in concert the 1st time!!
Love them. They endured. I saw them in 1969 and then worked a concert they played in 2009.
I also have a passion for Otis, but this is right on up there!
I got to see them 3 times back in the early 70's
I totally agree. It was like he was channeling Otis. If the vocals hadn’t been up to par,
his actions would seem pretentious. Wow what a great performance!
Otis had that staccato step! And You were worried.
Awesome performance 💙
Great pick Daniel 👏
Thanks Julie. 👍🙃
Outstanding!!! I love that Cory did this HIS way and didn't try to copy Otis's style. LOVE!!
