I grew up on 3 Dog Night. They had awesome harmonies. This is a Randy Newman song .
Newman a great song writer.
Newman is a frigging genius!! I didn't know he wrote this too....I've gotta google a song list of his. I'm sure it'll blow my mind!
Ahh.....Randy Newman.....now I know the reason why this song is so hilarious !.....I would strongly suggest Harri to react to "Short People" !!!
Such a talented writer and performer. You remember the heat he got for his song Short People ? Amazing he survived that - certainly wouldn't in today's world.
First rock show I ever saw, at an Iowa county fair. The line took hours.
Great Randy Newman song. Three Dog Night were huge in the early seventies. "Eli's Coming" by Laura Nyro is another great cover by them.
Especially their live version of Eli's Coming...it's amazing!!!!!!
CLASSIC!!!!!!!
Coolest "talk" song from the early 70's. Courtesy of 3DN. And yes, my mama told me not to come!
Written by Randy Newman. First recording by Eric Burdon & The Animals.
You can really go down the rabbit hole chasing their songs. My favorite is "Eli's Coming," but "Easy to be Hard," "One," "Celebrate," "Joy to the World," and a whole bunch of others are really great.
So super glad you’re digging what was my coming of age music...and I know if you were there then, you’d feel just like I did, and still do! Thanks Harri!
I had older siblings who brought all kinds of music into the house….sometimes I was probably exposed to things a bit too early, but….I shaped me and gave me many wonderful memories ❤️🤍💙
An oldie but a goodie. Fantastic thanks Harri.
Their cover of Otis Redding's "Try A Little Tenderness" is good.
Written by Randy Newman for Eric Burdon & the Animals in 1966.
Another really great one is "the show must go on"
3 Dog Night is a ridiculously talented and sometimes hilarious band.
I wasn’t aware that Tom Jones covered this. I’ll have to check it out!
These guys were my first concert, at age 13, with my 14-year-old sister. I've craved loud, well-made music ever since.
Love me some Three Dog Night! Possibly the most succesful cover band ever. In this case, this is a great Randy Newman joint.
Yes and the musicians were very talented. Great band behind those voices.
I've know this song since the 1970's and once when I picked up my middle-school twins from a birthday sleepover, and I asked how it went, one boy told me that it reminded him of this song. Once I heard more about their night, I never let them go to that house again. Gotta laugh now, because I didn't even know that they knew this song, lol
Check out their songs Shambala, Black and White, Old Fashion Love Song, Out In The Country, Joy To The World, I Must Let The Show Go On, Eli's Coming, I Never Been To Spain, Easy To Be Hard. All Their Songs are Awesome!✌️
I first heard this song over 50 years ago (1970) and I enjoyed it as much just now as I did back then. Poor guy is just in over his head so clearly, he should have listened to mama. He's choking on the smell of stale perfume and "that cigarette you're smoking". GREAT LYRICS! and great harmony by Three Dog Night. One of my all-time favorite groups. Thanks for playing this great old song.
My older cousins lived down the street from me when I was a kid back in the 70s. They had a magnificent sound system. It is there that I heard this song for the first time. Fond memories.
Another great song is Joy to the World
Three Dog Night, Ruled the 70's.!! Loved Them!! My Dad was a Cop 👮♂️ night shift..I was having a party..Before he left that night..he turned on the lights and yelled "Hand Check!" 😅
Love this Harri. Thanks for this reaction. Still waiting for you to do a reaction to Eli’s Coming, also by Three Dog Night. I’m sure you will love it. Keep doing your great reactions. 👏🇨🇦
Good song!
There were some great parties back in the late 60s, early 70s.
So many great 3 Dog Night songs. “Black and White” “ The Show must go On” “ Joy to the World”
3 dog night = great talent
Joy To The World
Never Been To Spain
Black and White
Out In the Country
EASY TO BE HARD... The next 3 Dog Night song you need to do Harri.
This song is about every 70's party us old folks attended. You never knew what to expect. Boy oh boy we had fun. 3 Dog Night are just rockin this song....Phenomenal band with so many mind blowin songs. Keep it up Harri. Mamma told me not to come but I did. 😉😉 Thanks Harri for a memory. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
I remember some of those big parties from the late 60's.early 70's...Thanks brother Harri
So much great 60s and 70s music from 3 Dog Night! Shambala, One, Joy to the World, Eli's Coming, Never Been to Spain, so many more...
I love this song. Loved it when it was new, too. "Don't turn on the lights cause I don't wanna see." Ha!
Another great song. I appreciate it more now than I did when it was played on the radio when I was younger.
Suggest watching a live version of this with Cory singing lead, they have such fun and multiple expressions when they sing it too, it's a hoot. And momma raised him right if he was disgusted by what he saw, ha ha. I remember sneaking off to some keg parties back in the day, we always camped out and went to the party, I'm guessing my parents caught on but didn't say anything. They know now, love you folks 😘❤
3 dog night had some great songs like, joy to the world 🌎, black and white. Lovely 😍 👌.
Just a great song. 3 Dog Night are the best at covering songs!
The live version is the best one to watch.
Love 3 dog night
The best of the best, 3 dog night, amazing vocals
Saw 3DN back in the early 1970s. One of the best shows ever! The back-up band could have toured on its own. And of course the 3 Dogs were absolutely amazing. Thanks for the reaction!
Harri 3Dog Night had multiple albums numerous #1s,your could sit down take a whole evening to listen to them all. A Beautiful song you would appreciate Harri by them it's called "" Easy to be Hard"" , Thank You Harri your the Best, no pun intended. 😂😂👍😎
I cannot express enough how much I wanted to go to that party when I was a kid, lol
Spill the wine; take that girl.
This is one of my favorite songs from my youth.
1:56. It's from 1970, so yes, I'd say that qualifies as very early '70s. 1970 was the year Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" debuted, and this was the very first #1 song on the program.
Grew up on Three Dog Night, they were pretty popular in the 70's. Gee, I remember this song so well! Thanks Harri.
Got to watch this live. They are hams!😊
I'm a senior citizen an this is still one of my favorite bands. So original!!!
I LOVED 3 DOG NIGHT..glad you heard the original.Keep digging in to them..
I always loved Three Dog Night, great band, great music
This song was introduced by and written for Eric Burdon in 67. This was the best version by Three Dog Night.
Harris, you have to listen to "Eli's Coming" 1974 live version. You will hear the great voices of the 3 lead singers. Bill
Eric Burdon originally recorded the song in 1966 and it was written by Randy Newman for his first album. Randy Newman is one of the finest songwriters who didn't hesitate to showcase the American way of life. Only later did he become one of the best movie songwriters ever. If you like his lyrics you should definitely listen to the LP (yes - the vinyl) "Land Of Dreams" - for me it's his masterpiece. Best regards @all from hamburg (germany) PS: Your mum must have been a very considerate and loving mother - just as my ;-))
Thanks Harri 💎💎💎. This was my favourite until they did Try A Little Tenderness ❤️🔥 You made my day with this reaction, Three Dog Night songs were party songs back in the 70’s 🎉🍻🍷🥃💥🔥💃 🕺 😻
Hearing tres pero nocho is a flashback ... 1969 or there about, I’d put this on and do the dishes for my mom...she was just glad I gottem clean. I was just glad I got to hear 3 Dog Night again-LOUD!
Very interesting it's fun listening to the music again been a long time my old bones got old😢 glad to hear how people feel about that song I've been through the 70's 80's I've been through it all 90s and it keeps on climbing thanks for taking me back home my youth😅😂❤
Love this song
These guys are still fun to rock to...this is what good times music sounds like!
They are the finest group! My personal favorite is " Out in the Country ". A song that celebrates nature!
My fave too
Harri has reacted to Out in the Country. I requested it about 6 months ago. I love it too. Thanks. 🙃👍🇺🇸🇨🇦🔥🇬🇧🤴
@@danielvolk237 Thanks. I'll look for it!
Momma bought me this album on 8track tape 1976
I didn't want to click on this, because I will have it playing in my head for a few days, but, I couldn't help myself. Thank you for the fun you bring to the world!
It wasn't a party, but when I was 12 I went up to my sister's room. She was 4 years older & WILD, I was a total goody-two-shoes nerd. She'd just pulled out a baggie full of dark green vegetable matter (I didn't wanna see!) & had started to tell me what it was when our Mom walked in. Stuttering ensued. Then my sister got herself together & told Mom it was gerbil food. I've always wondered what those poor little gerbils thought about their Night of Being Stoned.
Iconic band with monster hits!!
I had this album! Love Three Dog Night! Their name means it’s a cold night when you have to sleep with 3 dogs to keep you warm. ☮️💙👵🏼🌈
I saw them in concert 50 yrs ago, saw them again a month ago!!! They were just as good or better!!❤ The video version of this is fantastic!!!
Great songs great live show great music 🎉
They have 3 singing helpers to put them over
Back then, we had all been at a party when the parents came home & were yelled at & told to leave. I asked my kids why they never had friends over to our house & they said "because you were always home". That's why! Great song. Glad you listened to the studio version. These guys can get silly doing a song & it kind of takes away from the goodness of it. They were my first concert. I was so disappointed. They were too high & goofing around so much, I don't think they played 1 whole song right. Playing before them was someone named Buddy Miles. We had never heard of him back then. We wanted him back. He was GREAT! However, I do love 3 Dog Night. I was crushing on Chuck Negron.
Growing up with great rock and roll means you remember who you were dancing with you to it!
My first concert at 16! They played this. Great band
I haven’t heard this in a while. This was my favorite band when I was a teenager. Chuck Negron was so handsome 🥰.
Three Dog Night- Golden Biscuit was/is a good LP.
The song hit #1 here in the states in July 1970.
One of my favorites by one of my favorite groups. Great reaction Harri. 👍🙃🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇧🤴
Hi Harry, this song was written by THE famous singer-songwriter, Randy Newman for Eric Burdon (of the Animals) for his first solo album (1966), and this cover was done in 1970. Tom Jones' version wasn't released until around 2000, if I recall correctly. In this version though, Donna Summer sang background vocals and, as I just read, it was the number one song on the premiere broadcast of American Top 40 with Casey Kasem (July 4th, 1970). If you don't know him (he and his song were VERY famous at the time and over the years), you also might know him as the voice of Shaggy in the Scooby-Doo franchise and as Robin (Batman's partner) in the TV version of "Super Friends".
These guys were all over the radio and TV back in the seventies.
Lots of great music from them.
Boy do I remember this one Harri. Running around in my brothers 57 Chevy Nomad Wagon listening to this.
Written by Randy Newman 1966 for Eric Burton’s first album.
Fun song!!! Have you done Black and White by TDN Yet? Hugs from Canada ❤ yes it is the original. Great band for a 3 man studio band!!
Have this on OG vinyl! Thanks dad!
You need to watch them singing live. They are great entertainers.
Great song, I love 3 Dog Night! I agree that you ought to listen to Joy to the World, Never Been to Spain, and more.
They're probably best known for their song "Joy To The World" but had many other hits as well. One of my favorites is
"Brickyard Blues" aka "Play Something Sweet". "The Show Must Go On" is another must hear, and "Never Been To Spain"...I better stop cause I could turn this into a novel.
I believe this is from 1970, as I was in high school at the time.
Love the live version...
Gracias Harri
Thank you, Harri, for being part of my life.
Thanks for this.
Those guys were printing money back then! One hit after another!
You are so great! Love your reactions! 🤗
Eli's Coming is my favorite by these guys. I used to buy their 45 records
How can you not love this song. Heard this at a concert in about 2002 -- not all the original people in Three Dog Night -- but it sounded just like I remembered it when I was younger. Newer music is good too -- but there is a lot of music from the 60's, 70's, and beyond that is pretty good too. But what the heck, there are pretty good songs from the 40's, 50's that still hold up. Good is good, heck, Beethoven's Fifth is still great music.
Love, love, love this song and always have. Thanks for reacting to it!! His voice is amazing
"Brickyard Blues" is another gem by Three Dog Night..
This song used in film: "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas" to great effect.
I love this song and Three Dog Night has a ton of good songs, some which have already been played of course. ☮️
You'd love this one live . . . so much fun!! Great reaction - thanks! xox
LOOOOVE seeing others enjoy my childhood soundtrack! ❤️ Hugs, from Mesa, AZ 🌵
Cory wells vocal lead on this song.chuck nergron and Danny Hutton
Mike allsup guitar
Jimmy green spoon keyboard.great group.should be in the rrhf
It sounds just like something that Randy Newman wrote, because he did. Three Dog Night had an amazing string of hits, my fave is the lesser known "Out In The Country". Mama Told Me Mot To Come was pretty scandalous when I was teen, haha!
Obviously don’t remember much but this was technically my first concert. 1970 at the Forum in LA which wound have made me seven, and my parents took me. Do recall the interesting fragrances.
Three great lead singers Cory Wells, Chuck Negron and Danny Hutton
Randy Newman's version (the composer) is also great. I'm told by wikipedia that he wrote it for Eric Burdon and the Animal"s 1967 album.
This song has always given me chills. I think part of that is the Hohner Pianet N electric piano that you can hear throughout. Thanks for playing this fantastic song Harri
Eli's comin , is incredible! Please watch official video!!
I actually saw these guys in concert in 1972 (does that mean I’m old?) It was so loud I actually suffered hearing loss!
Love Three Dog Night!!This is MUSIC!! 🎶 Our music!I have that CD now. TONS of great music on it!!! Pick another, Harri!
