Three Dog Night is a great rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. They had great songs such as "One" (written by Harry Nilsson), "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Shambala", "Joy To The World", "Liar", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
Saw them in concert in the 70s ! I saw just about every concert in those days ! Every Saturday at Rich Stadium there were 3 bands....a 6 hr day of "party"
Yes, and drummer Floyd Sneed is criminally underrated. As a drummer myself, it pains me to see a guy like Charlie Watts getting more props than Sneed. (Of course, Neil Peart, Ringo Starr, John Bonham, Bill Ward, Danny Seraphine and the rest are great, but so are Floyd Sneed, Phil Ehart, Steve Upton, Garry Peterson, etc.) Great video, Jamel.
Played this song for my eldest son when he was 13, told him to remember the words. He's 31 now, and I'm happy to say, he never forgot them, and never caused me a bit of grief.😊

These guys were all over the radio in the early 70s. They had a lot of songs make the Top 40. This one was written by Randy Newman and originally recorded by The Animals.
Back in the early days of CDs record companies were scrambling to release older stock on the new tech. Doing "greatest hits" CDs was an easy, cheap and profitable way to use up back catalog. The problem was that most artists didn't have enough hits to fill up the 20 songs the CDs could handle. As a result, a lot of the CDs had to use inferior songs to fill them up. However, the TDN CD was filled with Top 40 hits from beginning to end. Every single one of the songs on the CD was a monster. Still one of the best values in music.
Like Ken, I had no idea this was written by RN. He also an awesome talent that doesn't get enough recognition because so many of his songs are performed by others.
i have loved 3 dog night since i was a kid. Look up joy to the world by them . Its one of those songs you A. can NOT help but dance to and B will never get out of your head.
I was 8 years old when Joy to the World was on the radio. It came on in the car and I made my dad leave it on. My parents asked me to sing it for them. (I knew most of the words.) so my dad learned to play it on his guitar and it became my song in our family sing a longs. Lol😂
Written by Randy Newman. He's an acclimated singer songwriter. His most known performance is probably with Lyle Lovett doing You've Got a Friend in Me from the Toy Story soundtrack. You might also know his hits Short People and I Love LA.
I got to see Three Dog Night live twice and both times they put on incredible shows. Imagine a band with three lead singers, singers who didn't play any instruments, just sing! They covered many songs and always put their own spin on them. Great reaction Jamel!
Yeah this is a great one ... all over the radio back in the day. We had the best music everywhere all the time! And yes, it appears Three Dog Night are still active and on tour in 2023. Marvelous!
My parents had the eight track tape. Loved lying on my back next to the stereo speaker with the music turned up! Loved all the songs on that eight track! “The child is black … the child is white … together they learn to read and write” was one of the lyrics in one of their songs
MICHAEL ALLSUP is an absolutely KILLER guitar player. Saw them live a number of years ago, and he is a commanding presence onstage. Just brilliant in his approach to his orchestrated parts!! Very, very few can compare to him in the world of rock guitar.
Three Dog Night hit it big about a year or two before Grand Funk Railroad came along, but both their careers were during the same time period, and both were wildly popular! Loved this reaction, Jamel! Thanks! ✌💙✌
Cory Wells was the lead singer here and this song was written by Randy Newman originally for Eric Burdon. A little history here: In 67/68 there was a club called the 5th Estate in Scottsdale Arizona and us high school kids would go there because they had a fantastic house band called The Mile Ends that became well known as the opening acts for The Turtles, the Music Machine, and the Doors. While there we often saw The Cory Wells Blues Band perform before he became part of Three Dog Night. Around the same time, there was a club about a block away called JD's who had as their main house artist some guy named Waylon Jennings. What time to be alive.
I saw them in the 90's at The California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles. Free show! One of my mom's favorite bands, she was SO jealous of me! She lived here in Georgia, by that time, I was still in Paso then. I grew up listening to them, because of her, and live them too. It was an AWESOME show!! SO many great songs by them!
Great reaction... these guys were part of the soundtrack of the 70s that contained some of the best vocal talent in history. Where have all the good male lead vocalists gone??? It just won't get better than what we grew up with.
I was coming of age (13) when this came out in 1970. I clearly remember listening to the lyrics and thinking, huh, there's something I have not been told.
Three Dog Night is still performing. The first album I ever owned was their "It Ain't Easy" album (1970). I love seeing them in concert. I've seen them many times. One of my (and my daughter's) favorite photos is of me and my then 5 year old daughter dancing to "Celebrate" at Universal City in Orlando, Fl in 1999...
Now you're bringing out some music again this is old video of you I remember always telling you Three Dog Night listen to them they are funk God bless peace be with you much love and respect
The source of their name the eskimos would make an igloo and if it was cold outside they'd go out side and grab a dog and bring it inside if it was still too cold they'd get another dog if it was really cold they dragged a third dog inside it's called a Three dog night.

Changed the words of the last verse though . On the studio version it's :" I've seen so many things I ain't never seen before , but the trouble with me is , I don't wanna see no more !" If you haven't done "Joy To The World" by Three Dog Night , I know you'll love that one too , Jamel . I got to see them performing live about 20 years ago or so (I think). It was a different line-up of course but they were still great. They even were doing some new music at that point. They had so many great songs back in the day. It's a shame that they aren't remembered as well as some other bands of the time -- you hardly ever hear them now even on the so-called classic rock stations.
