Had Sourav Ganguly the left handed batting legend of Indian cricket team played in 2011 World Cup then his retirement would have been far more honorable than a retirement post 2008 test series vs Australia on home soil.

Our current Indian team is fortunate to play against a good Australian side led by probably one of the worst Australian Captains I.e Tim Paine.

Ganguly's captaincy overshadows his batting prowess. Also, that team had legends like Sachin & Dravid. Even after that Ganguly scored so many runs against mighty bowling attacks of Australia, Pakistan, South Africa etc

We cant forget you dada and of course sachin, sehwag, dravid, laxman, yuvi, zaheer, kumble you were given best always. Those are golden days of cricket always.
This is Dada's best test innings ever, if you look at the situation, and how it turned the series, it must be.

Had Ganguly not been Indian captain and played as a middle order batsman only, he could have easily scored 10k runs in test cricket. Captaincy took a toll in his batting as it was a very challenging time for Indian cricket. A very gifted player.

Watching this is 2024. Reliving the memories of 2003-04, this was the best test series back in those days proper test cricket at its best. This innings set the tone for 148, 233, 195 and 241 from the Fab 5
Love this knock from Dada, it changed the whole series and then vice captain Dravid did the rest scoring more than 600 runs in the series.
It's always VVS at the Non striker end whenever it's a brilliant knock from the player be it Sachin or Dravid or Ganguly (Idk why but he's the most under-appreciated player)

Ganguly was one of the greatest stylish left hander India gifted to world cricket.His test match statistics were awesome from his debut to 2000 where he his average was over 50 and more hundreds (7) than his mate Dravid (6).After captaincy his test form deteriorated slightly but he never dropped his test average below 40 that makes him one of the 9 players in world test cricket who achieved it.After his comeback in test match in Johannesburg he scored more runs in test cricket for India till his retirement.

This particular knock got Ganguly out of the team and he came back as the best batsman of his team and finally forced to retire because India had younger players to fill the spot but the fact is we still don't have better no 5 than him and still we haven't found replacement of Ganguly,laxman and Kumble.

@@dibyendukar09 Chappel helped Ganguly with some changes in his techniques while batting and Ganguly suggested his name for the coach after the series and as soon as Chapoel became coach he suggested Ganguly to drop himself from the team and eventually Ganguly was dropped.
