- With India in all sorts at 4/85 and some big guns back in the sheds, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman came together during the second Test of the 2003-2004 series. The two belted a partnership of 303 as the Australian bowlers had no answers to the dominant display.

Dravid's backfoot cut was a treat to watch. These two have had some legendary partnership.
If we look at any important test victory outside India (some in India as well) , we will mostly have either Dravid or VVS, or both as signigicant contributor. Absolute legends.
Everyone's talking about Laxman and Dravid (hats off to them) but let us all take a moment and appreciate Cricket Australia's RUclips channel , I mean they always show us phenomenal stuffs and the presentation is on next level. Thank You CA for keeping the game alive.

from this knock you can realise why laxman was very very special ❤️
Those drives by Dravid.... Absolutely immaculate....
Those childhood days…when BRITANIA meant a bat manufacturing company for us. This video is 13 mins of pure nostalgia…!!❤️
Dravid Sir....! Beautiful childhood MEMORIES!
Indian test 5 superstars those days ,shewag, Sachin, laxman, dravid, ganguly great line up
I still remember someone saying that Laxman's timing is so perfect that hits so beautifully in the gaps that he doesn't let the fielder move an inch and the ball is gone
Classic, beauty of Vvs laxman dominates the pace attack so beautifuly
VVS Laxman & dravid on fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 stand
Look at the placement of cover drive @11:8
Textbook of how to play in Australian conditions seriously
Both are legends of the game 🙏🏻
Dravid -patience technique solid defence
Laxman -wrist work elegant stylish
Nostalgic hits.
Wake up early in the morning and turn on the radio and listen to the commentry. Was not fortune enough have tv at home but extremely fortunate enough to listen to those Border Gavaskar series. Absolute jems. In recent times. I only follow test matches and short format world cups. Stopped watching ODI for a while now.
After Seeing this I understood, Pujara is not another Dravid. Because is full of class and temperament
This is a classy show from the 2 classy batsmen of test cricket
Two do that twice in two years against the great Aussies is like gem
Now batting has become power game
These were the two dudes who demolish bowling with class strokeplay and dead defence
Those cover drives from Dravid and effortless strokes from Laxman made my day again. May be it was from this match Laxman was called as very very special Laxman. Golden days of cricket against strong teams
Pull at 1:32! Just to say in 2004 I was in a bad way, all of the bad feelings have disappeared and it is now a privilege to watch the game again with a happy mind. In 2004, I could not see the beauty!
3:10 VVS didn't have to choose..
that shot to the boundary was surgically precise
This was a golden era for test cricket. I remember waking up in the morning to watch these test games. What an experience that was!
All the beautiful commentaries about the duos. Beautiful beautiful cover drives, on drives!
12:51 Look out the happiness of bowler when he took wicket of VVS. This shows how strong those cricket players of India at that time.
It was a great pleasure to watch these 2 batting those days..
Rahul dravid handshake in that time is very nice just like forigen style
No one can forget this series, who have seen , this is starting of indian era
I see this movement 20 years before my childhood love you India🇮🇳
This was the rare test victory of India over Aus in Aus. Darvid Laxaman and Agarkar were the main architect...
The series was also drawn.
Mind you, had Parthiv Patel kept a little better India would hav won the series😂😂
If we just had fast bowlers like we do now, India would have beaten the Aussies
David's straight Drive shot was my favourite ❤❤
What a wonderful partnership between V.V.S Laxman & Rahul Dravid. In this match, India beat Australia. Dravid and Laxman ruined Australia in that match. India was 85/4. Then Laxman got out at the score 388/5. Great partnership 👏. India won the match because of these 2 players. Rahul Dravid & Laxman. But now I'm missing that golden era. Now I don't like India squad 2024. I like only Virat Kohli. Now I'm missing my old favourite Indian cricketers.

All time my favourite player dravid
When india actually had proper batsmen
In my opinion Adelaide Oval before the renovation used to look one of the best grounds in the planet, it still looks good but it used to look better before the renovation
3:33 it’s a good piece of wood he’s got 😂😂😂

Laxman the Super super hero of the match in which he scored 281

Most of the players say- Rahul Dravid
Due to ipl v miss the classy batting
More batting legends in the India team
Thanks cricket Australia 🦘 for this video ❤️
Those days when Dravid and Laxman were like a Dangerous Nightmare for the opposition. Two living legends!
They reserved their best against the sledges. Those two were a nightmare for the Aussies. Gem of cricketers. Gentlemen.
Especially for Australia 😂
Say right
Batting for such long periods shows their immense concentration levels

Those early morning days.
2003 finished 10th standard and was relaxed in 11th standard and jr college use to be morning time hence I use to get up early and atleast watch an hour or two of these series.
This series will forever be in my memory.
Funny, how I remember so many of personal achievements from this series and when compared the same with recent series I hardly remember anything.
This partnership and then in Sydney Sachin innings of 241 was incredible.
I still remember in this Adelaide match, Australia didn't dismiss Dravid and hr played twice and scored 300+ combined.
Can so relaate to this.I was in my 2nd year Engineering and ws during our internals.Plan wss to to get up early and study but was glued on tv .Even now remember each and every thing about this series. Back then beating Australia in Australia was just unthinkable. Like u mentioned funny how we dont remember much abt recent series but remember everythinh so clearly abt series back then. The good ol days of pre social media life.
Same remember watching this series on ESPN. Waking up early to watch sehwag scoring brilliant hundred at mcg and this partnership those winning hit by dravid at adelaide. Time really flew very very fast.
I was in 4th standard, would get up at 4 am and switch on the TV to watch a match. Don’t see kids nowadays studying in 4th standard doing so. I remember every single series india played since NatWest 2002, ct 2002, West Indies tour of India in Diwali 2002, then India’s nz tour, memorable 2003 wc, tvs cup 2003, this series in Australia and VB series where Zimbabwe was third opponent. What a golden days❤❤❤
I was a kid then in my 6th Standard..All i could understand of this was that there is a match going on between india and Australia and india is batting..
Just wanted to watch..didn't know much about the intricacies of test match ..
But still watched..Just knew that when a team is winning and when it is not...
I am in 10th class in 2023 and one day I'll be talking same about 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy series and Virat kohli's incredible knock. This hurts the most🥺. King is not gonna play for a long time😭😢.Time flies away. The loss of 2019 world cup is still in my ♥. I want to become a cricketer and to win a world cup for my country but my parents are not supporting me a very little in my carrer 😣.There is only one life and we have to try once what we want to do because failures don't hurt but regret does.
I rate this partnership at par with the Kolkata stand. Trailing by almost 500 runs with 6 wkts remaining in a country you haven't won for 22 years - also the giants of that era. I know McGrath and Warne were missed in this series, but don't forget that these bowlers have bowled some amazing spells in cricket history as well.
True and well said. However Eden is just a little bit more special and only by a wee bit because we won after following on.
I think Adelaide is up there in terms of the challenges posed. 4 down for 85 in Australia, trailing by 470 odd runs! What are the chances of even beginning to believe that we can do it from there.
Yes Kolkata will be the greatest, but Adelaide is right there on top as well.
Definitely one of the greats but Kolkata remains the best. It came while following on as well.
Lost my father in 2000...only joy for me was these cricket matches during those years

Perfectly commented on this duo and aus.
No they did not.

I've loved to hate the Aussie team cuz of their unparalleled dominance in the late 90s and 2000s. But one thing I love about Aussies is their never say die attitude and they do give their opponents their deserved due. An Australian channel uploading this partnership is a testament to their gamesmanship. In India only the games where India won are featured Ad nauseam.
Dravid and Laxman always been a nightmare for Aussies bowlers..
2003-04 .. Golden memories of childhood...
This test series always remembered for Indian cricket team exceptional performance..
303 runs pathnership stand by Dravid and VVS. Then 241 runs inning by Sachin Tendulkar at Sydney in the very next match.. 141 runs inning from the bat of Dada at Bribrane, Gaba..
Anil Kumble perfect replay of Shane Warne bowling...
All it means this series had been a milestone in the upliftment of Indian Cricket...
This is pure Cricket. An excitement for 1-2 days.
Way better than the 1000 other 20-20 being played today.

I didn't watched VVS much, but after this video, he is a genius & class player for me.
Those pure timing ground shots with cricket bats that were just cricket bats and not baseball. And that crowd that cheered for the home team in Australia, unlike now when Indians dominate in crowd at every Aussie ground too - this video is throwback to days which won't be in fashion ever again, and be almost like a folklore for future generation.
P.S.: It's a thrill to see Indian crowd in Australia the way it is these days, especially myself being an Indo-Aussie, but the purity of this video is something else.
The crispness of the shots off VVS' bat.. what a duo..
One of the best Australia tour of India series.... This Australian team was a monster the best tour l must say. Under Sourav Ganguly that tour first showed the steel of lndia ❤❤❤❤
Not the best Ausies side without Monster Glen mcgrath
India were also without Zaheer Khan , injured after first test. He took five wickets in that match..
So it was even out..
And any team can't be dependent in one player😂😂😂😂
From 85/4 to 388/5.. two
determined yet delicate batters stitched one classic partnership to pull india out of trouble. I can watch this cult batting display all day to be honest 🇮🇳🤩👏🏻

Very true. Also there was no ipl that time to make competition in between own players
The boundary @ 5:31 by VVS was just a flick & it raced to the boundary. He was on a midas touch that day.
I remember watching it when I was a kid. I turned off the TV after Ganguly got run out. Next morning I wake up and see Dravid has scored a century!

But since then I have seen Brendon Mccullum & BJ watling revive NZ from 94/5 to 600+ and Also Partnership between Laxman and Ishant Sharma in Mohali 2010. This is cricket and it’s pure class from Great Rahul Dravid and VVS
Those days are gone when our players used to play sessions after sessions without failing any wickets and piling up big partnerships and dominating spinners
Rahul Dravid is pure gold
Great to see placement of VVS and R Dravid. When top order failed these players really played well helped to win the test match. Present team must learn from it..
Rahul getting to century with a six is pure gold
These two gentlemen were a treat to watch. Especially Laxman.
Especially his effortless cover drives were just ❤️❤️
I think McGrath and Warne were not playing, but that doesn’t take the shine off of Dravid and Laxman’s superb batting. Some of the shots are just wow...And the commentary by Tony Greig, Ian Chappell and Bill Lawry...icing on the cake.
I remember the Aussie coach was cocky about winning the series 3-0, but in the end, they have to scramble for the draw😊
Mcgrath and Warne were both playing in the 2001 kolkata test and could do nothing
they played well but I think the Aussie bowlers didn't bowl particularly well overall other than Bichel. this series had excellent batting pitches in general too.
Imagine we managed to win this test match after facing 556 in the first innings and being 85-4 in the first innings. These are are simply legends.
