Sehwag was an exceptional talent. He reincarnated test cricket by way of his interesting strokeplay. It can be easily confirmed that sehwag in tests and yuvraj in odis were the mainstay from 2001 to 2011.

The innings that revived Sehwag's test career. He wasn't in the playing xi for the first two tests. And then he scored a hundred in the tour game after the second test - the infamous one at Sydney. Then he was picked for the 3rd test at Perth. He scored a 40 odd in the second innings. But it was this game, where he genuinely came back. Very unsehwag like. Took 200+ balls for his 150. But made sure India wouldn't lose. If not for his innings, India could have lost the match despite scoring 500+ in the first innings. In the immediate next test that India played after this one, he scored his career best of 319 at a 100+ SR against SA. And after that there was no question about his place in side for next 3-4 years. A true entertainer!

Sehwag wasn’t as consistent as the other Big batsman of his era . But when he scored , he destroyed the opposition and changed the game and mindset in favour of India . Once he got going…pitch , bowler , weather weren’t an issue His 5 best knocks are
      1. 201* vs SL in SL against All time legends like Murali and the mystery spinner Mendis on a spinning tract . All batsmen fell once spinners came . India even the Test in SL den and their tailor made pitches to help their spinner .
      2. 309 vs Pak in Pak , India haven’t won a Test in Pakistan ever and then this guy destroys them on Day 1 bu sheer audacity
      3. 319 vs SA , fastest Triple Ton ever and that too in reply to SA huge First inning score , most would have crumbled under pressure of huge runs .
      4. 195 vs Aus in Aus
      5. 81 vs Aus in World Cup 2003 final . Only Sehwag was the one who trashed the best bowling attack of the wc . India was unlucky that day as once he and Dravid were going strong the rain came and interrupted the match and after resuming Dravid fell . Later Sehwag got run out .

I clearly remembered this series . This was one of the most media hyped series . Every day in the newspaper this series covered in the front page . India were favorites to win the series , as last time when india travelled australia way back in 2003-4 India drew the test series . And one more reason was that india had started winning tests in overseas. They have defeated pakistan in Pakistan in 2004, West indies in 2006 , Won their first ever test match in Sa in 2006. And they have deafeated England in England in 2007 and also defeated pakistan at home series u. 2007. Also won the t20 world cup in the same year.
India was in red hot form . Even prince if kolkata had came in form. But their main test was to win in australia. Australia won 16 consecutive test at that time . India lost the Mcg test badly. But in Sydney test india lost match because of the worst umpairing of the history. But in the third test india defeated australia in Perth . And broke the jinx of Australia of winning 16 consecutive test. And the last match was played in Adeilade which ends with drawn . india lost one of the most competitive series by 2-1 . Fun fact at that time I was in 3rd grade 😂😂. Good old days 🥲.

    151* in a team-total of 269 for 7... next highest score... 20
Guess who was the Man Of The Match? Sachin Tendulkar! For his 153 in the first innings. A very fine knock but the wicket was easy. The Australians scored three centiries in their first innings.
Sehwag's rearguard knock was really special. Surely the undisputed MoM from India's viewpoint.

Sans the century from sehwag India would have been bowled out fore a mere score on the last day just the way there at Sydney a fews days ago and Aus would have won an improbable win.
To judge which 100 was more vital is upto the viewers, people might have different opinion.

Sehwag has more strike rate in Test that Hayden in odi . Hayden who was himself an attacking opener

    • @abhishekn9871
      @abhishekn9871 Год назад

@@aniket385 Hayden wasn't aggressive in ODIs as he always played second fiddle to Gilchrist who used to smash from the word go... But it wasn't the case in tests, as he always had much defensive opening partner...

@3:47 so there were empty stands in Test matches in Australian grounds even back then.
Have the administrators worked out yet how to share a bit of the broadcasting rights money with the match grounds, so that tickets can be made free?
