It wasn't in this match, but in the following one at Perth. India won that match. This match was lost by India largely due to horrible umpiring. India was, in fact, ahead for about 60 percent of the game, with Laxman and Sachin going bonkers. Lot of time at Scg they actually made Aussies look like the visiting side instead. Anyhow at Perth, this team was fired up and responded brilliantly to win the game. A definite team effort it was, with Ishant getting Ponting after a breathtaking spell of fast bowling

One thing that was so good about Sachin Tendulkar throughout his career was that he always used to look to put pressure on the bowlers no matter how tough the pitch or quality of bowling unit was.Defending good balls and respecting the match situation is one thing but he never really used to go in a shell of only defending balls to not get out.
Well, he did that one time that I remember. Against Pakistan in 2005/06 to save a game. He almost played the game out by just defending! Almost! It was not Tendulkarish for sure. It was like Dravid playing in Tendulkar's body!!

Indians fought like tigers and displayed true grit and determination to win this game of nerves. India was clearly the weaker team that series & still won.
Not even close, 2017 Ind vs Aus series in India was a fantastic series, played on some really tough pitches, rank turners. 2014-15 series in Aus despite the scoreline saying 2-0 was a pretty competitive series.

It absolutely is, you said today's Aussie team is nowhere near Waugh or Ponting's team, but you also forgot that Indian test team of current era especially in terms of batting is nowhere near as powerful as 2000s Indian team.
What made 2020-21 Ind vs Aus series special was it was a rare occasion in history of cricket, that a less powerful visiting team(Indian team of 2020-21) defeating a more powerful Aus team in their home conditions. India was clearly the weaker team that series & still won.
Not even close, 2017 Ind vs Aus series in India was a fantastic series, played on some really tough pitches, rank turners.
2014-15 series in Aus despite the scoreline saying 2-0 was a pretty competitive series.
