  • How GOOD Was Sourav Ganguly, Actually? | God Of The Offside
Sourav Ganguly is known for his aggressive captaincy and charismatic personality in the world of cricket, however, Ganguly's prowess with the bat is often overshadowed. His elegant strokes, powerful drives, and ability to perform under pressure make him one of the finest left-handed batsmen to have graced the cricketing world. Scoring 7,212 runs at an average of 42.17 in tests and scoring 11,363 runs at an average of 41.02 in ODIS is extraordinary. Let's explore just how good was Sourav Ganguly, as a batsman.

Hey Cricket Lovers, what do you guys think? if sourav ganguly was not dropped in 1992 and 2005, would he had more runs than rahul dravid?

    • @RaviKumar-ww6vc
      @RaviKumar-ww6vc 6 месяцев назад +2

No... In 2005 he was already in a bad form from last 2 years... hence it was good that he was dropped...I remember that first 9000 runs he achieved in lesser matches than Sachin Tendulkar but after that to achieve 10000 runs milestone he really had to struggle a lot...

Sourav Ganguly's batting timing was almost at par with Sachin and Lara. Damn what a legendary batsman Sourav Ganguly was during his playing time

Greatest hitter of Cricket Ball in Indian cricket history.
    .
    .
In the era of smaller bats and larger Grounds, Dada was one of the very few batsmen who could hit a six WITHOUT stepping out. Sachin, Sehwag or Yuvraj were great but notup to Dada.
    .
    Reason? Timing... Pure timing...
    .
Dada was a graceful ballet dancer when he wanted to be and hit anyone over their heads; pacer or spinner, both went for a toss down the ground. And how... When Dada stepped out, most probably the ball would go straight like an arrow over the stumps, above the screen, on to the stands above.
    .
No one understands the feeling of a Ganguly innings like the millennials. We were wide eyed spectators of a Symphony on pitch. We never knew batting could be this graceful.
    .
I owe Dada my happiest cricketing memories, my little heart thanks him.

I am fortunate to have watched his entire career with great interest. Certainly one of the best timers of the cricket ball of all time, equally brilliant to find gaps through a packed offside field, one of the biggest six hitters of his era, beautiful and elegant cover drives, straight drives, square drives, off and on drives, magestic pulls - his talents were many. I had seen him bat for India at the Eden Gardens several times. His presence and style on the pitch was royal.
Many people wouldn't know that he was scoring hundreds after his test debut so consistently, that even Sunil Gavaskar named him 'Sau Run Ganguly' at that time!

people talk about his captaincy, off course for a reason -- such leaders are rare, but I miss his batting! I haven't seen a better timer of the cricket ball ever. His elegant cover drives were just poetry and how can we forget his dancing down the track sixes.

I am a big fan of SOURAV GANGULY. When I came across him for the first time I was thinking how younger he looks like, even at this age. Our conversation started with an odd gesture(so embarrassing for me)but it was concluded by appreciation. That's a leader's quality who understands the situation before accepting anyone as good or bad.
Hope that I shall have the opportunity to meet him again ❤❤

I thought I was a cricket lover and Ganguly is my favourite. But as time passed and after Ganguly’s retirement I under I loved watching Ganguly playing cricket more than cricket itself. ❤ To me he is the greatest player ever.

Thank you for accepting my request to make a video on one of the greatest batsman Sourav Ganguly.
Had Ganguly not retired from Test early and had he retired in 2013 alongside his peers like Sachin and Dravid, Ganguly too would have scored 10000+ runs in Test too.
One more request : can you make a video on how good was Anil Kumble. Bcos it surprises me that he could not turn the ball much but how he somehow still manages to take 600+ test wickets and 900+ international wickets, which is insane for a spinner who can not turn the ball much

    • @CricketStories007

@@CricketStories007 And in that, please educate that how Kumble was able to take 950+ international wickets without turning the ball much, which is insane for a spinner. Bcos this thing about Anil Kumble always surprises me.

If he hadn't been captain I do believe his average would have been closer to 50. Those long years as captain might have led him to reduce focus on his batting between 2003 and 2006 which led to him being dropped eventually. He came back as a pure batsman and proved what a great batsman he was.

maybe a great player on the offside but a he had his ups and down. He was never able to pick p is test career after that ball from Shoaib AKter and he really struggled against the short pitch bowling.I think if DADA was a little less arrogant and worked on his batting and running between the wickets maybe he would be mentioned among the best but i can think of 20-30 maybe 40 batsmen better then DADA, tendulkar, lara, ponting, hayden, waugh, gibbs, Kallis, AB , gayle, viv richards, clark, jayasuria, jayawardena, de silva, Slower, Klusner, Kohli, williamsen, root, pietersen, cook, warner, chanderpaul, dhoni, yuvraj, azhauddin, answar, martin, stokes, morgan, mohammad yousif, symonds, Macmillian, sewag, dewan, dhoni, sangakara, Langer, Amla, Graem SMith, Trescothic, Brandon Mccullum, Rohit Sharma, Alan Border, David Gower, Stephan Fleming, Inzamam (50/50)
