How much obedience is necessary to keep the wrath of God from abiding on anyone? One act of obedience is all that's necessary. It's he that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
That is the issue with folks like Shamoun(it seems), that how many works is needed to prove you will be saved. According to the law of God if you sin once you are under His condemnation to hellfire. Either saved by faith alone, by grace alone, in Christ alone, for God's glory alone, apart from our works, or then hellfire.

Jesus and Paul make that clear. A living faith cannot help but produce good works, while a dead faith does not. That simple. James is not saying works save you. Faith is proved genuine by its fruits, but it is the faith that saves.

The Bible is very clear
Galations 2 16 : “ knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the FAITH of Jesus Christ, even we have BELIEVED in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the FAITH of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the law shall no flesh be justified.”
you are right that we aren't justified by the works of the law. The law shows us that we can not be justified by it unless it is completely and perfectly followed. No one but Jesus has or ever will attain that completion of the law. But by our belief we are spurred into action so that by our works our faith is made known (faith preexists works). Real faith is a living faith which produces fruit within the believer. So works do not save, absolutely correct, but justifying faith will be accompanied by obedience to Jesus in repentance and good works.
The Bible is clear.
Faith without works is DEAD.
James 2:26: ”For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.”
Your faith in Christ will be judged by how you treat others.

Um, no, the fruit of a Christian is another Christian, everything brings forth after its own kind. I know a lot of people that are unsaved, they do a LOT of good works, they live a way more righteous life than I do, but they don't believe in Jesus, they will die in their sins.

There has to be a condition called faith without works in order for it to be called faith, or else they wouldn't call it faith. You notice that it doesn't say faith without works is in vain or pointless or something to that extent.
An apple tree that doesn't produce fruit is still an apple tree. A dog without life is still a dog, just dead, it profits nobody. good for nothing. Which is exactly what James 2 is talking about, having works with your faith so it is profitable to OTHER PEOPLE. Sure you're saved, you're going to heaven, good for you, but how does that help your fellow people if you do nothing with that faith?
James 2 is justification before MAN, man can't see your faith and what you truly believe on the inside, but they can see your works. The chapter also sticks in a few "my brethren", talking to saved people, we're way past salvation at this point, this is about perfecting the Christian walk, NOT to get saved.
Compare Romans 4 with James 2, justification before God vs justification before man, it beats it in that it is without works, if you look at Romans 3:28 as the conclusion, a man is justified BY FAITH, WITHOUT the deeds of the law. So, it's not even a part of the equation for salvation. It doesn't say with a little bit of the deeds of the law, it says WITHOUT. Also it doesn't say in Romans 4:5 to him that worketh a little, it says worketh NOT.
You didn't do any works to earn it to begin with, Christ did ALL the work necessary for you to be saved, so why would you need to do ANY works to prove that you're saved? Your works are filthy rags in the sight of God, so how are they a part of salvation? They're not, not even a little bit.
The change that it talks about is on the inside, Paul delights in the laws of God after the inward man, but he also has the flesh, there will always be that war going on, the old man vs new man as long as you are in the flesh, until you die. 2 cor 5:17 says ALL THINGS are become new, if that change is on the outside, on your works, then wouldn't God just make you perfectly sinless? No, he gives you the freedom of choice to do what you should, he doesn't hijack your free will and force you to serve him. That's choice is up to you

Faith alone (sola fide) implies that you're saved by your faith alone, since Christ has died for your sins and by believing in Him you're already saved? Or did I understand it incorrectly? Doesn't that explicitly mean that since He already died for our sins we only need to believe in him and are saved?

What I said was that a true belief in Christ will change you by the work of the holy spirit and produce good fruit but you are already saved. Now if someone truly believes in God and sadly passes away the next week obviously theres no fruit to be shown yet but this person had true faith I do believe they are saved😊 the fruit as proof of a saving faith comes woth sanctification but its not what saves you its just a fruit of being saved already and conforming your life to Christ

The quality of faith is what is in question throughout scripture. Demons believe but that is not biblical faith. Biblical faith is one that will work but works are not required for salvation. That is the point of Romans 4:5. Why people can't understand it, is beyond me. You can't get any clearer than Romans chapter 4. The Catholic cult has twisted scripture and prevents you from understanding it for yourself. Works come from faith and salvation not for it. We obey by first having faith then second by obeying his new covenant commandments.
Faith alone compares to having love alone. It's like loving a spouse but God knows the heart. Showing love should be a response to the love you already have, not something you do to gain love. If we have love THEN we will show it. Many say they love and show it but they really don't in the heart and the spouse knows it. It's called "going through the motions." That is what scripture warns us about and why love alone must first be clarified from the works of love. A spouse does not truly love simply because of what is done for them but because they know they're loved and that love will be expressed. We don't keep his commandments to gain our love. We love him and then keep his commandments. Huge difference, even in human relationships.

Sam Shamoun has changed the gospel from what Christ did for us to what we can do for ourselves. Catholic soteriology is like the saying, "God helps those who help themselves." Turning the gospel into Greek and Pagan mythology where a god must be appeased before granting a blessing.
Praise the God of scripture who stands apart from such pagan nonsense. Jesus alone fulfilled the law covenant expectation of perfection with its curses on sin, on our behalf. The real gospel is what Jesus completely did for us (1Co 15:1 -4). He did for us what we could not do for ourselves. The only thing Jesus asks from us is to believe him. We respond to his salvation accomplished for us by trusting and loving him and then obeying him. The foundation is Christ. Our works of obedience will gain a reward but have no part in our salvation by faith alone in Christ alone.

It is simple to me. Believe in what Jesus did for us. That he is alive and well sitting next to the Father. And letting Holy Spirit do good works through us. We must love God and others.
I think people are hung up on response verses like "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." (1 John 5:3 KJV...but other translations are pretty much the same). So obedience and love of God are tied hand and hand. But it is the order of them that matters. We don't obey God to be righteous, we obey God because He is righteous. We aren't saved by obedience, but because of our salvation we joyfully obey. His yoke IS easy and burden IS light!
That raises the question. If I follow what Jesus commanded but I do not believe in Jesus as my saviour, am I still saved?

The Lord knows we are not going to be perfect in this wicked flesh and world. He knew this from the beginning/foundation of the world as his plan was to be our savior since then. That does not mean that he does not require/will for perfection from us, just as he is perfect. I don’t know anyone that believes in Christ that doesn’t want to obey. I don’t think anyone has this whole “license to sin” idea in their head. It’s just…how much obedience is enough to know you’re okay? If I could obey perfectly then I would’ve followed the law perfectly already.

I think I've said this before but I have a list of over forty scripture passages that clearly and unequivocally state that salvation comes from BELIEVING in Jesus Christ. While the Old Testament does not contain the name of Jesus, it certainly supports the concept of justification by faith. Of course, it also speaks of the messiah extensively. Our faith is dead if we don’t use it to help benefit others or give glory to God but we’re not going to lose our salvation. Salvation is when we believed in Christ. We will get punished if we don’t produce good works but we won’t lose salvation.

The best illustration to me comes right before John 3:16, using an old testament illustration of the brazen serpent on the rod that was lifted up, people only had to look at it to be healed. They did not have to accomplish anything in order to be healed, and their healing was not taken away by future disobedience or sin. This is a clickbait video . Sam Shamoun did destroy the protestant faith alone doctrine by quoting the bible verse . But the content creator/vlogger tried to twist Sam's argument to inject that believing in Jesus Christ is the same as obeying The Son . The truth is believing in Christ requires the faithful to obey His commandments so that one is justified as a true believer not like the hypocrites who say something but does another thing . I pray that the Holy Spirit enlighten you minds .
Not a single one of these Lordship salvationists can give an explanation or even obeyed this passage. (AND REMEMBER these ARE the words of Christ.)

@Onorato Diamante This is the way it is written according to the interlinear or original Greek, but it doesn't mean works salvation. Every time Sam looked up the definitions, the word reject or refuse to believe came up along with it but he just kept yelling about OBEY. Do you realize all that is doing is mimicking what Paul said about the Gospel many times??

So you can see this is not in relation to obedience to the law, it's obedience to the faith - faith alone. This term when concerning salvation is not relegated to just the modern versions. Hopefully this blesses you.
So what Sam is saying is that a Christian must obey “the law” in order to be saved. This is heresy.
The gospel is that God demands perfection, man is incapable of perfection, Jesus lived perfectly and imputed that status of perfection to us by faith.
Faith alone is dead. You even said in you reply that if we have Faith we Trust Christ and Trusting us a verb, an action, something we do as our loving response to our Father.
There is NO distinction between Faith and works of love.

@@havefaith4382 Reading this one verse in isolation, I can see how one can think this... but when you read all of Paul (and the rest of the Bible), Paul calls people to avoid sin and repent and become a slave for Christ... he is not saying in this verse that our works are opposed to Grace. God's gift to us to even be alive is an act of Grace. For us to know about Him through His Church AT ALL is a gift of Grace. But should our reply to that gift be one of arrogance that are works don't matter? Of course they do...
I have never met a single devout protestant who loves God dearly who doesn't try and refrain from sin and live out their faith in works. So good Protestants and Catholics all live the same way, Catholics see that the works that we do are also an outpouring of God's Grace and that since we ARE the BODY of Christ on Earth, it is our witness and works that will lead others to know Christ.
What if the Disciples had all said - yep - works don't matter. So we will just sit here and worship God and NOT GO TO ALL NATIONS and even DIE for their Faith. And then generation after generation did good works so that all of us today could know of Christ.
The issue with Sam's teaching here is how he changes the definition of obedience mid way through his argument. He claims that to obey is to believe, believing the gospel is obeying the gospel, which he gets right, but then to say if you're not obeying Christ, you arent believing is to change the definitiom from prior. If Obeying= Believing, then its redundant to say not obeying is not believing. The only way that Sam's saying has any meaningful impact to repeat is if he changed the definition so that obeying means a plethora of other commands, which is where Sam gets it wrong.
Obeying is believing the gospel. Sin is anything that falls short of the glory of God. All of our acts ,deeds, and speech, thoughts are corrupt and sinful. The best deeds of man are like filthy rags and I spit them out of my mouth. That is how amazing Jesus is and why his blood does cleanse us when we believe. If you think you only sin some times then the fact that Jesus was sinnless is not that bigger deal.

The only kind of obedience that leads to salvation is what 2 Thessalonians 1:8 says: In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. To obey the gospel means to believe upon Christ, not anything else. The only kind of work that leads to salvation is what John 6:29 says: Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. The work is to believe on Christ, not anything else. Shamoun's teaching makes no distinction between faith and works, and so is heretical.
