Hi Friend, Castle Creations warns that “applying voltages higher than 33.6 V will cause irreparable damage to your mamba XLX2 controller. Do not run HV cells (above 4.2v/cell) when running at Max cell count (8a).”
Hey man, just a heads up a fully charged lipo cell is 4.2v so if you run a 2s Lipo at full charge it’ll read 8.4V a 3s Lipo would read 12.6V a 4s will be 16.8V and a 6s will be 25.2V and so on….. your max volt on a fully charged battery should never exceed a 4.2V per cell. Neither should it ever drop below 3.0V per cell when drained/fully discharged. Set your lipo volt cut off to 3.4V so you never over drained the battery.
Your lucky it didn’t melt down every time you hit that throttle. I had one from the 1st batch of xlx2 also. They had issues. Castle replaced my 1st one in less than 10 days. Replacement works great. I have 3 now
HEYY… is this xkx2 problem fixed man?? What you with that 5% they said was faulty? How do I know I’m not going to get a bad one? That’s messed up if they can send a good replacement, then why even send a bad one the first time?? I know there’s a software update, is that the fix or are there still some esc with the misaligned bars or what ever? What do I get to do to not get a fire?? Smh..☹️☹️ how am I supposed to but a good XLX2?
@@AutoBodyEverything It most definitely is fixed. The 1st batch had an issue. If you buy one check the batch numbers just to be safe. You can find them on Castle website under advisory section. I would think all the 1st batch controllers are sold or taken off the shelves by now
Yeah mine was bought on 3 5 22 and is not part of the batch # that is bad and it still crapped out running in kraton 8s geared 28/47 so not overgeared at all
That is over geared for bashing. I have a 23 pinion on my Mojave and it’ll get hot with a 51 spur. That’s prob not why yr xlx2 pooped out tho. Sometimes you just get a bad one. What’s it doing? Sending any codes or just went quiet?
just went silent and shuts off first 3 runs just fine not even getting hot didnt even jump it nothing 28 pinion is overgeared i see 39/39 all the time i thought i was safe nothing gets warm , odd thing is no power to esc with the motor plugs in it wont move freely and when unplugged it rolls just fine nd motor is freed up again and motor works just fine. what do you think i should set the punch to had id down so it would not wheelie as well.
I have 3 XLX2’s and they’re all Beasts! My 1st one was from the 1st batch and it shut off after my 2nd pass. No tones just lights. No movement. Castle replaced it within 10 days after I shipped it. My replacement esc was perfect. I’ve bought 2 newer ones and they run great too
@@bensettos8705 Do you think the castle xlx2 and leopard 58113 V2 870kv motor will be a good combo? I'm using the max 5 now and it has started to cut power only after a few mins of run time. It is installed on a dbxl-e 2.0 that weighs 37lbs.
@@Blueknight1960 yes that would be fine if you don’t want to spend the money on a combo but you can’t beat the power and smoothness of that sensored 1100kv 2028 motor with XLX2.
@@bensettos8705 I already have the leopard and it is an 8kw motor. I tried a center locker on my dbxl-e 2.0 with the leopard and max 5. On the 1st run it bent and twisted both rear drive axles. Replaced those and on the 2nd run, it broke both front and read diffs. I have now put the stock center diff back in. My main concern is my brother had a castle system in his kraton 6s, the 1st motor's shaft broke running on flat ground. Castle replaced it, the 2nd motor burnt. The esc stops responding and has to be turned off and back on for it to work again. After the 2nd castle motor, he put the original motor back in and it burnt. So after the fiasco with the xlx2 catching fire and my brothers experience with castle, I am leery of buying an esc from castle. But on the other hand, I'm not having any luck with the max 5 either. I still thinking hard if I'll get the xlx2, it's not an easy choice.
Ive got 3 of them replaced now i just got the last one back and ran it on 4 s for a couple trips around the drive way and its started glitching out when i hit the throttle 3 of them so far if i have to send this one back its been nothing but shit show since i bought the first combo for 500 bucks i havnt got a good one yet i wont spend anymore money on castle again
Man that ESC is shorted you can't do any thing for it to work. just toss it out and buy another ESC. although Castle ESC'S are very good almost the best but some times you may just get a bad one.
my xlx2 was going then it just stopped no reverse or forward but steering works and plugged back in and just comes on no beeps then shus off any help would be helpful!
First steps to do try different lipo batteries, recalibrate the esc, try if it works otherwise,Is under warranty? If yes send it back to castle and claim new one

Also on your software for castle link make sure if you’re not running a sensor wire to change esc settings to sensorless
