Alfred basically ran Shacarri’s personal best this year. Shacarri did not look like herself at all. She looked tight and nervous. Her starts were poor even in the semi. Never showed that confidence or energy she usually comes with. Shacarri needed to run her best race of the year and she wasn’t close to that. Alfred was amazing and it is great that she won her nation’s first medal.

But above all thank you for introducing me to the Justin Gatlin the world never knew. The man "they" vilified, was not in reality what they made him out to be. He is a decent, honest, sincere gentleman. I'm glad the world gets to see the true gold "in" and immense worth "of" his character, and not the "villain" created by the false narrative of intense competition.

Proud St. Lucian here and Congrats to our very own Julian Alfred.... Here is my 2cents... When Sha'Carri got serious and was on the rise to win her medals, who was the only person to defete her in a race.... the very same Alfred beat her... The advantage Sha'Carri has is her top end speed which i have always stated was Julian missing piece and said the day Julian gets that fixed she will be a beast and hard to beat. Julian is the 60m champion for a reason.. Out the blocks she is an explosion and her running was powerful but back then she burned too much energy in her flagrant flaring of her arms and fighting her strides which hendered her top end. If u noticed now she has gotten this under control and runs effortlessly and her top end has improved immensely. Sha'Carri knows that and that makes her scarred which mentally defeated her. Watch the races ppl. From that semi final where juju beat her she knew she was in for trouble. Because in that very same race she relied on her top end to catch juju but couldn't. She realized that was a different juju. As this was the first time Sha'Carri raced her after Julian improvements... My issue with the USA is they are too arrogant... Already calling the race as a guranteed victory for Sha'Carri as if the other athletes doesn't matter. Like the campaign of Noah the fastest man on the planet... like fing really, the man with the fastest time for this year is Kishane Thompson and he is going make a mess with Lyles in the men 100 finals. Thompson hasn't even open up the after burners yet for the world to see and his time of 9.71 is the fastest so far this year. The said in that same campaign Sha'Carri is the fastest woman on the planet and got proved wrong in the 100m finals as juju made a mess with her. The biggest lead of victory in a 100m Olympics finals since 2008. My take is let your talent do the talking, be humble and respectful. Cause u may have to eat your very own words later cause u talk too damn much... Noah be ready to do so....

I dont think the 100 semi and final should be on the same day at the Olympic games or World Championships. They're usually 1-2 hours apart from eachother. This doesn't give atheletes enough time - physically and mentally - to rest, recover and warm up.

I genuinely do not understand athletics media.
    This is the Olympic Games.
The 100m Olympic final is one of the most significant events in world sports.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is a worldwide icon and one of the athletics GOATS.
And she wasn't able to compete in the Olympics 100m semi-finals because of a pathetic rule change and unreasonable security.
And the athletics media response to this is... NOTHING.
    You don't give a damn.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ATHLETICS MEDIA???

I think Paris Olympics treatment of the athletes was wrong. From the ceremony, to the conditions in the Olympic village to the the events. From a psychological perspective this definitely will affect athletes minds and ability to perform well especially for athletes who are accustomed to super Olympic appreciation, presence and ambiance. I think this is what pushed the Jamaican athletes to withdraw. As a Jamaican, we don’t stand for foolishness. Shelly has her legacy to protect and she did the right thing. I am happy Sherika did the same. Elaine will join the two next year for World championships and we will see dominance again. So they give others the chance to achieve this year by bowing out gracefully Good move

I am trying to trace your discussion on how unfair it was to do lights out to men's 100, and not to women 100. I am a man but am surprised like what the heck didn't any of the Paris Olympics organizers see an issue with that? We would somehow pardon them if men 100 m was the last event of the paris Olympics inside the stadium. But that was too much disregard of women 100, more so when the men n women are sharing the same stage, same fans, same media coverage. The women 100 was quite exciting too. I believe Noah Lyles wudnt disregard a gold by Sha Cari simply because he can run faster than her in 100. And these women have massive following dammit. That was so cold to women champs
