That is what threw off his race and he started chasing at 30 meters instead of being patient and trusting his speed like the other races. That final was one for the ages. I can say even the biggest Noah believer wont be confident he wins especially with how his heat and Semis went, infact i dont think i have seen a 100m field where all 8 finalists rightfully had a case to make a medal.
But cometh the hour cometh the man. All through the season i have seen Kishane have this air of humble arrogance but for the first time he looked tense. But i became a fan with his entrance, i have seen him all season and i know there is a showman character in him too but for whatever reason he hides it, when he came out and roared, i became an instant fan.
If you think talent alone will push this sport forward then you have missed it, without personality, this sport remains in the trenches. See the reception Noah got everytime he was introduced. Truth is win or loss in this 100m, he would still be the most recognizable in the sport. You need to see the hate he got online just coming 2nd in the heats and semis!!! What title do you get for winning those. He was trending all day. If anyone won besides him, they wont even have gotten the recognition, it would have still been about Noah.
You need to understand the mental strength needed to not fold knowing you havnt beaten your closest competitor all season, and losing the same way twice (Oblique looking back and smiling at him).
They started and i knew Noah will be last out but to see him last at the 40M, i was already losing hope, then around the 80m mark i just saw that blur and by the time they went through even though alot thought Kishane won, it could be the angle from my broadcast channel, i shouted Noah's won!!! It was just an unbelievable race. I couldn't understand how he did it but then i saw the race analysis and when they posted the top speed and showed how long everyone held it, He didnt only record a top speed that was superior to everyone on the Field, he held it the longest. For a guy who just focused on the 100m last year, impossible really is nothing. If you are a true track fan, you should celebrate this guy as we won't have as much interest from the outside world without guys like him. He talks but also walks that talk.
Since Bolt, i have seen alot of kids want to be Footballers or Basketballers, even Tennis players, but now i see kids getting more interested in track and that makes me happy.
God bless you Noah for all you do for this sport and to RSG hosts you are pioneering an era of quality track and field podcast which i see going places.
Every finalist was a winner to me as i think this race will go down in history. Imagine 9.86- .87 in 6th and 7th!

As a track fan, I have a new respect for Noah, not because of his victory in the 100, but of what he said in the post race interview. Suddenly, I realize that this man is a visionary, and has a plan.
When the reporter asked him what does he want to get out of this victory? When he replied that he wants his own shoebrand, like Michael Jordan, I suddenly realized that its not all about his ego, but he is already planning for his post athletic career, and ensuring that he properly leverages his success.
Important aspects of his plan that he noted were - 1) He pays people to get his name out there. And he works hard to create that image.

REALITY CHECK! Those who believe that Noah is going to be ruling things in the 100 for the next few years is in for a shocking surprise. First of all time is on Kishane's side, not Noahs. Secondly, Noah ran the best race of his career and it still didn't equal Kishane's 9.77. Kishane actually let off the gas at the 85 meter mark in that 9.77 race. What happened to Kishane last night can and will be corrected the next time they race, it was a simple case of first time Olympic jitters.

Noah has constantly gotten better at the 100m year by year. At first he sucked and he continued to run faster and faster until this point which was his PB

@@calebjohnson7617Yea, Noah had to run a PB just to catch Kishane, who eased just before the line & didn't even fully execute. And after all that, it was a mere TIE! ☺

Kishane inexperience got the better of him. No way Noah beats him again!! He's gonna dodge and play Hide n Seek with Kishane for the rest of his career.

Thompson couldn't run any faster even if he wanted to. Lyles just has that different kinda closing speed. Noone can touch..Thompson would have to have his perfect race to beat lyles. Fred kerley congratulations. Boi you deserved a medal. You came and conquered

Bro why cant you people just tell the truth,We both know Thompson didn’t have to run his perfect race to beat Noah, he literally ran 9.77 and that could have been better. Hats off to Lyles he executed the best race but to say Kishane had to have a perfect race to beat 9.79 which he already is laughable

thompson has plenty of potential, he had all the ingredients to be the fastest this race. the issue is that was his first ever major competition and it was at the olympics of all places. of course hes gonna make some first timer errors, and noah is more experience and typically makes up his ground those last 30 meters. kishane has plenty of improvement ahead of him and this 2nd place olympic medal is a phenomenal result, as is noah's gold and everyone else's time this race
