    Another massive reason he is so legendary is the competition he went up against and dominated. In one race it was him, Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake and Justin Gatlin the 5 fastest men in history. Just unreal

      @@dpw0499 I said people haven’t gone under 9.7 in years and that’s true. After the great 5, Bolt, Gay, Blake, Powell and Gatlin, no one has gone sub 9.7 or 9.75. Barely sub 9.8.
      Gay and Blake both hit 9.69 several years after Bolts 9.58 but that’s it.
      Take the last 7-8 years. No one is threatening the top 5 guys, even Gatlin or Powell’s PB much less Bolt lol.

Sprinting at that level is not easy especially when many of Bolt's opponents like Asafa Powell, Tyson Gay, Justin Gatlin, and Nesta Carter were doping yet Bolt beat them almost every time.

      Historically, the record only ever gets beaten by fractions of a second, so that gap is absolutely massive in sprint terms. The fact that nobody is even running 9.7s would suggest it’ll stand for decades

      Did he say that or you are making it up? His 200 is equally difficult to break. Nobody has been able to run the curve as fast as he did. He ran that curve 9.92. Noah Lyles' best is 10.15.

      He could've ran faster in some other races if he hadn't been so cocky and raised his arms before finishing. In my opinion he had the potention to run a 9.4x and I'm pretty sure no one ever could've broken that time, but a 9.58 is not unbeatable cause don't forget that a much much smaller yohan blake ran 9.69

      He had the potential, the body type, the technique … just had untimely injuries and his mental game was always called into question.

    I just can't get over that his world record run could have been quicker. When I rewatch that race, you notice he eases up when he looks around, sees he's going to win, and starts celebrating a bit before crossing the line.

    Bolt is perhaps the only athlete who is the undisputed GOAT. You can argue about baseball, football, etc but not sprinting. His dominance over the best competition, margin of victory, consistency over a decade, and awards are second to none.

      Nah. I know it looks that way but even if you replace the last 20m with his fastest 10m split x2, it couldn't have been faster than 9.62 and the most likely time is 9.63/9.64.

      That's not how sprinting works. You and the other people spreading that myth really need to stop. He ran 2.47 between 60-90m. That is about 0.82 per 10m. His last 10m would have been something like that also, which would have been 9.61-9.64. Given the speed we know he was going at after 60m, which is when athletes are at their top speed / fastest speed in the race, it's extremely unlikely it would have been some other time than 9.61-9.64, let alone a 9.4.

You dont need to hype it more than it already is. It's already crazy impressive. But maybe it's people Who are not that involved in sprinting and dont understand that it's about hundreds of a second in sprinting not tenths.

      Naah he gave his best in 2009, but I reckon he could have beaten it between 2009 -2011 because it was at his physical peak then. But he probably didn't want it that much with all the sacrifices he would have had to make as he said in the video.

    Usain beat age world records & won world junior champs & world youth champs etc., as he got older so his success as an adult was no surprise to those who had followed his career.
    His times being ahead of everyone as he aged from 12 onwards shows he was naturally special, he didn't need drugs. He was a one off - years ahead of his time.

    People need to respect Bolt’s WR. That record won’t be touched for a very long time. In that race he set the quickest time over 60m then proceeded to hit the highest top speed a human has ever reached. So until a human who is a explosive out the blocks and has a better top speed that record won’t get touched

If you were really running those times then the organization you were training with would've paid for your training themselves because you'd have world class potential.

    Cant see his records being beaten! For a start the sprinter needs to be tall with a long stride pattern! Bolt was a physical unique specimen! Fast, tall, and long legs! Almost the opposite of typical spinter physiques! 😮

    Noah Lyles has that exuberant confidence that he can do it cuz he never raced you over and over and over again.
    The people he’s racing are close or within range of him so he can have that. If he is winning a race and you come from nowhere and consistently demoralize him even when he’s absolutely having the race of his life, then let’s see

      Since late 2009, Noah Lyles has the fastest 200m time. And Bolt didn't break 19.55 since 2012. Lyles consistency in the 200m is insane.

      Blake is fast but cannot compared to bolt. Bolt is naturally fast and had so many physical and psychological advantages over any other runner. Imagine if bolt trained as hard as Blake probably would’ve ran 9.20 in the hundred.

      That's true but I think if you follow track and feild you'll understand just how much of an anomaly the 9.58 was. Of course I believe it will be beaten but nobody of this current generation looks close. We are still waiting on a sub 9.69 with legal wind, miles off 9.58
