This episode was GOLD. Wallace Spearmon was like that dude at the house party that stepped outside for a breath of fresh air, got to talking and then the entire party became an outside concert with everybody tuning in to his every word😂.
I'm with you. Been watching this channel for months now, and totally different mindset and respect for him. This morning I was watching him and his parents. Nuff Respect to the man, one of the greatest.
Ikr. The ONLY dude back in 2007-2019, Degrasse joined the ranks too. We only rocked with those who seemed genuine. I remember those days. Felix got the same love too
We Jamaicans love Wallace, he was robbed of his 2008 Olympic silver medal in the 200 meters but made up for it with the bronze in the 2009 World Championships fastest 200 meter ever. A friend of Usain is a friend of ours.😎🏁
The rule says that if you run on the line AND IMPEDE ANOTHER ATHLETE will disqualify you from the race. They disqualified Spearmon and Martina from the race and they were way ahead of everyone else in the race. As a Jamaican, I think they saw the friendship and wasn't supporting it.😎🏁
Wallace Spearman was the Only male USA athlete Jamaicans really cheered for.. Gay they like, but Spearman could come to Jamaica and we give a real welcome..lol..lmao
I love that take from Justin Gatlin about giving back to sport and also Wallace Spearman telling younger athletes that they have resources out there and a cheat code in former athletes for current athletes to reach out! Loved that take man!!!
Wallace and Alyson felix were similar in that they were ‘deceptively fast’. They looked like they were just coasting or cruising but were moving exceptionally fast.
Wallace Spearman is by far one of the most gifted sprinters the U.S has ever produced. Wished he had coaches who knew how to push him to be his best self.
This platform was much needed; these giving flowers to all time greats, lack of acknowledging the greats, behind the scenes competitive nature beyond track was as rumored. Justin; I had the pleasure of meeting you and your beautiful family this year (2004). This episode proved every single word I expressed to you and why Track and Field needed to see more of you. Wallace; truly left some even great performances out there. I live T&F everyday; you gentlemen are so correct in the revealing side of business. There is a lot of wisdom not being passed down; not just to the elite; but to the many who embrace athletics. I often see great former T&F Athletes who are not getting their flowers, I quietly tell them how their greatness has touch me and the thousands of athletes and their parents. We need the current T&F speaking heads (Alto/Sanya) be less technical and more communication driven for the average fan with their platform. Just like was stated midway in this episode: many of greats spent most of their childhood and early part of their adulthood in track. They should be given the platform (retirement, USATF conferences) to give an account and promote track way more than what is given. This was truly GREATNESS and a great start in improving T&F positive platform. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! Train Hard, Eat Right, Hydrate!!!
Love Wallace Spearmon (9.96/19.65/20.10i/31.88i/45.22), would've been an excellent 200/400m sprinter like Allyson Felix & LaShawn Merritt! Kept waiting for him to make that move up :)
Growing up Wallace was my favourite athlete! I used to watch the race where he leaves Bolt in the dust on repeat. I had the rows and Saucony's thinking it would help me unlock my lightskin sprinting potential 🤣 It's great to hear you guys reflect on your great careers and give us the behind the scenes of those iconic races I've watched thousands of times
The record is 44.72 km/h (27.78 mph), measured between meter 60 and meter 80 of the 100 meters sprint at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics by Usain Bolt.
I have a lot of Respect for Justin (The GUN) Gatlin because he is opening up about the world of Athletics and his Competitors. I do have a question mark about Two Athletes and the records they set and their Honesty Flo Jo and Carl Lewis!
Noah Lyles spoke about how athletes are treated in the USA and Wallace make the same point. Jamaican athletes are treated better and after retirement they are still remembered
I was going to school at the UofA in Fayetteville at the time Wallace was showing out in 05. It was definitely something to behold watching him and Tyson run. WPS! Excellent interview, excellent podcast fellas!
nuff respect to you guys....Ready Set Go is as Americans say 'the bomb'. I really enjoy watching your podcasts. Wallace Spearman is a real legend even if he doesn't think he is, and Justin Gatlin, you the man. This is a Jamaican living in England. Keep up the good work
Those days of track and field were so exciting and glamorous with Usain Justin Asafa Tyson etc still watch those races. Hopefully these Olympics will spark our interest in track again. Ps Loved Justin’s pod with Asafa a few weeks ago. Hello from Australia
Thank you for this podcast. I'm a track head so hearing these stories is so dope. Looking forward to seeing future guests. Hopefully all the legends and unsung heroes of the sport.
Ready Set Goooooo!! That's a tag line man. Love the work you guys are doing. Big fan! Glad to see therapy being promoted especially by track role models.
Other then 1 big blight in his career, I gain more and more respect for Lance Brauman. Never knew he was responsible for the development of our favorite Jamaican legend, Veronica Campbell Brown.
Great interview. Always rooted for Spearmon when he was running. Loved his style of taking it easy round the bend then destroying the field down the stretch 😂
This is my first time coming across your podcast. Watching from Australia, loved every second of this little insight into the athletic runners from USA. I remember watching the races on cable tv. Appreciate this episode. Yous have a new subscriber cheers
I've laughed laughed laughed. I'm di. All the way from uganda. You guys are giving us everything business and entertainment on track."Tysons greatest gift"...😅 This closes a significant gap in commentary and creates a whoooolllleee new entertainment perspective. The jokes are lit. Ive loved every convo with all your guests. Thank you team. bring us bolt for the season finale...😅😅😅😅😅😅
This episode was GOLD. Wallace Spearmon was like that dude at the house party that stepped outside for a breath of fresh air, got to talking and then the entire party became an outside concert with everybody tuning in to his every word😂.

My view of Justin has completely changed since I watched this podcast. Just goes to show everyone deserves a 2nd chance.
I'm with you. Been watching this channel for months now, and totally different mindset and respect for him. This morning I was watching him and his parents. Nuff Respect to the man, one of the greatest.
Same. I was never a JGat fan when he was running, but after watching these vids I’m a big JGat fan!
I’m a 75 year track enthusiast. This episode is the best. My grandson is 10 and runs 100 & 200 we watch your show together
Noah Lyles just sitting out of camera shot listening in on this convo is awesome.
Oh, he's there?
Was that who spoke?
🇯🇲 Always love Wallace our favorite US athlete from the Bolt era
Back then, Wallace was the only US team member Jamaican love😂😂
True 😂❤. We really love Spearmon. We felt his vibe
Ikr 🤣🤣

@@vengance27 for real real,
Big up spearmon from Jamaica! We always rocked with him.
Spearman is like so many Black Americans that were ultra talented, never took their craft seriously but were still able to compete at a top level
Shoutout to Spearmon 🙏🏾 Nuff Respect Bredda from 🇯🇲
We Jamaicans love Wallace, he was robbed of his 2008 Olympic silver medal in the 200 meters but made up for it with the bronze in the 2009 World Championships fastest 200 meter ever. A friend of Usain is a friend of ours.😎🏁
Why he was robbed?

Yeah that was my favorite part

@@jnicemint It's called *gliding*. Glide like a 747 - Earth Wind and Fire.
That lineup up against Nester Carter ,Asafa Powell ,Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt ..Now that’s a RACE !!!
Ya that would have been incredible!
Was Nester faster than Frater?
@@shevyweston5088 yes and a better starter
