  • Sharing my real-life driving experience for the 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring. I'll show what's the avg MPG that I get out of my 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring. The results should be similar to other Honda Accord Hybrid with different trim levels. However, each driving experience for the MPG will differ based on the road, driver style, temperature, level of A/C, and other factors.

    I'll start with the vehicle exiting the garage and present a test drive analysis. Using the re-gen paddle on the left definitely does add mileage gain.

    I have a 2018 hybrid touring. I’m routinely getting over 47 mpg. If you really get in the habit of using the regenerative braking you can get in the high 50’s. Best mpg is off highways. If you’re doing a constant 70 mph you will get in the low 40’s. Only other car that did better was a diesel chevette.

      Any tips for city driving. I actually get less mpg in the city than the highway for some reason.

    do you have to warm up the vehicle before you drive it? like after you leave it in the garage over night. or do you just start it, and take off.

      No warm-up needed. It starts in EV mode. Just start it up and drive.

    I have a 2019 hybrid EX-L. After about 3500 mi, I find that I cannot get more than about 43.5 mpg on a tank. ECO vs Normal is virtually identical. I've tried using regenerative braking as much as possible with no real change in mpg. My normal driving is combined highway/city. And even with a long vacation "road trip" doing 70-75 on the interstates, mileage doesn't really change.

      Thanks for sharing. It also has to do with the temperature on the weather also. For warmer temperature, I was able to get a higher MPG. Your mileage is about right for my Touring also.

    But what is your driving style and conditions to be getting this 41 figure? Are you an aggressive driver? Highway? City? Using climate a lot?

    • @netman88
      @netman88  5 лет назад +1

      I'm not an aggressive driver but I do drive to keep up with the flow of traffic. I did find Econ mode does improve the mpg but I haven't tested enough to say how much. Someone posted in another video that they got up to 50 mpg. So far the climate has been cold averaging in 60s this winter so far. I expect the summer to warm so I may gain some mpg.

    But my question is folks, okay all the money you save in gas, when you have to buy a new battery, doesn't all that money just go there?? Like the all the money u saved goes into buying the new battery no?

    • @netman88
      @netman88  4 года назад +1

      Smart question. If you sell before the warranty ends. It's 8yrs or 100K miles. CA extends that battery warranty to 10yrs or 150K miles.

    My old 2011 Camry hybrid was advertised as 36 MPG. It got 36. I used it for the same work route I use for my new 2018 Accord Hybrid Touring. Advertised at 47 MPG, but does not get more than 42. I have tried everything. Really a great disappointment. The Toyota got the MPG promised for my daily work, the Honda does not. While there are some great features, the MPG is a fail based on the Honda promise.

      I'm not sure how the EPA rates the gas mileage but I have to see in the warmer summer weather. IMO, maybe both the new Accord and Camry are around 42. I found using the paddle regens I can get around 2 mpg more.

      @@netman88 Thanks. I have been looking for a great summary of how to use the regen paddles, but have not seen one. If you come across a link, let me know. I am not smart enough to figure it out.

      @@pouchboy1Robert, when the weather is above 55 degrees or so you can easily get 60MPG in your car. As long as its not super hot and you are cranking the A/C. At any rate, the regen is so simple. It has 4 levels. It's in level 1 by default. Anytime you let go of the accelerator and coast, it's in 1st level of regen which is very very week. Use the left paddle shifter on your steering wheel to increase. You can click 3 times to get to highest level. Use the right paddle shifter to decrease the regen level. When you get good at it, you can really limit your brake use. You will recharge your battery more by capturing more energy and your brakes will last much longer. It can be fun man, give it a whirl. You will get it after a week or so. So, to recap, use the left paddle shifter when coming to a stop sign or red light to increase regenerative braking. Use the right paddle shifter if you need to reduse it. Good luck. You can do it!

      @@brianmccartan1491 I'm about a year late on this, but can you elaborate on this? Also, I drive in the high 80's-100MPH range, what king of mpg could I expect? I don't accelerate hard and fast or anything, that's just a decent cruising speed for me
