Got about 7.5 - 7.6 so call it mid 7's for the 0-60.. that's really good and obliterates a Prius from a stoplight.

We actually own one of new ‘19 insights and it really is amazing, apart from needing lumbar support, but I did want to note that I noticed you didn’t use the regeneration peddles. There were two more higher regeneration settings you could’ve used. That would’ve increased your mpg even more I have pictures of us getting into the 80’s and 90’s in the city and a few higher. I realize you were coasting a lot too so there’s always a trade off, but it’s really useful when coming to lights or stop signs and especially off the highway! Otherwise awesome video that actually shows that this car can get quite a lot better than what the epa says, but like most gets lower the higher the speed.

I love your videos!!! Every reviewer of this car is getting crappy mileage, and you drive it normal while knocking it out of the park. High mileage is all about driving style. I’ve had 2 Prii, Camry hybrid, civic hybrid, CRZ. All of which exceed the EPA if you stay at the speed limit or 5-10 over. I have an AWD HR-V and average about 35mpg every tank.

Sweet! It is good to see you got to have a nice run with the new Insight. Hopefully Honda passes the keys to an Accord Hybrid your way soon. That is one of the top cars on my list to add to the fleet as my personal daily driver. The Accord with it's better seats and on-ramp power, quieter cabin and more room all around make it a better car for me but the cost of getting a nice feeling steering wheel and decent speakers is a bit much. I may still go with a CPO MKZ or Fusion Titanium if the Accord hybrids don't start rolling into the lots in 2019.

I just bought a blue 2020 EX and am really loving it. I've not even gone through the first tank of gas, yet. We drive about 300 miles per week and it'll be great to pay this thing off one day and have a very cheap mode of travel. I keep a car until it simply can't be driven any longer, or the cost of repairs are too much to justify against the value of the car.

MPG readouts may have a tendency to overestimate average fuel consumption so I wouldn’t rely too much on that information. Every time I fill up the gas tank in my car I have the habit of dividing the number of miles driven between fill ups to number of gallons bought at the gas pump that way I have an actual real world gasoline consumption average of my car. Then, before driving away again, I set the trip odometer to zero again. I also write out my latest MPG fuel consumption in my checkbook when I write out how much money I spent at the gas pump. That way I have a permanent record of my average MPG every time I fill up my gas tank.

Nice looking car for sure especially a hybrid. The outside looks better than the civic and accord in my opinion. I have two gripes about it though. A real blind spot info system is better than Lanewatch. Also, the rear needs air ducts for passengers in back.

Funny... i was test driving the CRZ versus the Yaris IA versus the new Insight when deciding on what car to buy just months ago.
The CRZ is a real flop by every measure.. it doesn't do anything well..
The Insight is a quick car, but the powertrain poops out at higher speeds, so it's a bit inconsistent.. i also don't like the lack of manual transmission or the price tag..
I can't stand how the new Prius looks and how slow the thing is, so didn't even give that car a whirl.
They were offering $2000 off the Yaris IA, and the car was showing fuel economy numbers that made my eyes bulge.. so that's what i went with.

And for the haters out there (yes you know who you are Chad) that's why you purchase a hybrid to get great gas mileage. I believe a Honda guy said that running on eco is actually not actually better for mpg. Real world figures for 2019 Insight can be found at fuelly.com. Owners seem getting over 46 MPG in average as of this writing. It's still February, so the figure should go up a little more over time, though it will probably level off around 47-52. Will the 3rd gen Insight finally see a commercial success? It's certainly better looking than the previous gens, but sedans are generally selling a lot less these days. We'll see...

Thanks for sharing this. There are people who posted their reviews of 2019 Insight on the Internet that complained about disappointing MPGs they were getting. @@chadhaire1711 OK I figured why you stranger were so upset at my comment. Mind you, I was not referring to your RUclips video clip. Apologies as you seem offended by my choices of words. My earlier comment was about reviews that I had found at other web sites. Now, as an owner of a Honda hybrid myself, I want to say that Honda hybrid's actual fuel economy really depends on how it's driven. Toyota Prius kinda forces "eco-driving" which is dull/boring and even frustrating to some, but Honda's hybrid gives a driver choices - eco-driving for better MPGs, or the other way for mediocre MPGs. This video clip convinced me that Honda kept the same principle and that the 2019 Insight indeed could deliver the advertised MPGs as long as it is driven THAT WAY. If one cannot tolerate hybrid, it's just that and there is nothing wrong with it. But if someone drives a hybrid the same way they drive a sport car expecting to get its advertised MPGs, I have to say that science of fuel efficiency shouldn't be that convenient. You can't get performance and great fuel economy both at the same time.

Its absolutely moronic to have something that can drive on electricity alone and not have the ability to charge it in any other way then running the engine. Also the reason why I'm so rude about your infrastructure issue is the whole point of the hybrid is to be able to use gas on long trips, if your stopping to charge somewhere that isn't your final destination then you my aswell of bought a pure ev.

I really liked this car but bought a Toyota Yaris IA instead because i was actually getting better highway fuel economy ( although city fuel economy doesn't stack up at all, of course )
At a steady 60mph, my top record is 68mpg with the 6 speed manual, but you were only doing 50mph top speed here and got the same.
I hope you get to take a Yaris IA out for a spin. I think it will be your MPG record winner.

neptronix Yaris iA is an awesome car! Hoping to get one on the schedule soon. In other news, I’m currently looking at potential replacements for my ‘99 Civic and a used iA is on the list.

@@mpgomatic have you test driven one yet? I'm convinced that the car has some form of lean burn, as i see the MPG spike into the 80's-100's at low throttle levels and speeds in a similar fashion to my first generation Honda Insight. The stock tires also seem to have a super low rolling friction, and the aerodynamics are fantastic, considering that there's little in the way of underbody panels.
One interesting thing is that it has direct injection and all the modern engine goodies but only makes.. 103 or 106 horsepower, whereas other similar sized motors are making ~130hp. The design emphasizes low end torque and low drivetrain loss over horsepower.. it is much like how the HX's motor was designed.
A side benefit to this is that you can lug the car along at 1,500RPM and still have good torque. The car loves being in 6th gear at 40mph.
The one negative thing about the car is that it seems to take a while to warm up, and MPG suffers in the winter on short trips. I think this is because of the huge oil pan. I believe it contains 5-6 gallons of oil. It is the only downside to the powertrain. But we're one grill blockoff away from fixing that warmup issue :)

neptronix Great Stuff! I drove the iA for half a day when it launched. Liked it a lot. Hopefully they have one in the media fleet.

You are way off that Toyota doesn't even get close to the insight

I like the Honda Insight. I just wish it had a bigger 13 gallon gas tank rather than 10.9 gallon. Its range could be a bit better.

more capacity = more weight. So maybe its best to keep it small.
