    I’m getting 48 mpg overall in my ex Insight. Just took a 220 mile road trip and it preformed awesome. Love this car.

    It takes time to figure out the transmission? D for drive, P for Park, R for Reverse. How much time could that take?

    • @iorshkee
      @iorshkee 5 лет назад +1

      Well, u really need to see them talk to realize they could use a full 6 months course to operate that shift transmission.

      I think it probably just feels dumb after years and years of some type of gear shifter.

    Have owned my Insight for a few weeks now and have just over 600miles... I am averaging 51mpg. Most of my driving is done in eco mode and highway.

      Priscilla Pie I am very happy. Love the amount of tech...great drive. The CVT engine noise on hard acceleration take a few trips to get use to. In sport mode has more than enough pickup to get out of tight spots. Btw I have the EX mid trim.

      Man I have the Civic ex-t and on my 330 roundtrip to Houston and back everyday I consistently get 46mpgs at 70mph. 51 seems kind of lame for being a hybrid.

      Quick Sipper I get about 50mpg on my civic coupe touring trim on highway driving. The Insight doesn't do much better, but in city driving it does much better than the civic.

    The ex and touring has apple carplay as well as Android auto. Also for your lack of mpg you where driving in sport mode which adjust rpms and doesn't get the mpg that you would get in econ mode. Also there is a ev mode which allows you to drive a short distance ,1 mile, on pure electric.
    You also showed the paddle shifters. Really they are for the regenerative braking. You have three different selections that will help you recharge your hybrid batteries as you brake.. other than that. Thanks for the video..

    This car really is the best hybrid. I have had many hybrids and EVs and I can say without a doubt at 33k miles that this car is fantastic. Winter I get 45 mpg to summer I have gotten 62 mpg without trying mix of country roads. Closest to my Tesla Y without the Range anxiety.

  • @user-pg9fv7su8q

    I own the touring and get 43 city 47 highway. I live in Texas and we have speed limits up to 85mph if you drive 80mph you'll get 39mpg drop it down to 70mph you'll get your 47mpg. Don't bother with 85mph you'll get 36ish. In the city it really depends on how annoyingly slow you want to accelerate. If you accelerate to 45 in half a mile you'll probably get 51mpg however if you drive normally with traffic you'll get 43mpg. Honestly dissatisfied with the gas mileage, hopefully a class action lawsuit will pay out for the bad mpg figures. Other than that it's a pretty good car, I like that it doesn't have a turbo and it's much nicer on the interior than the civic. Overall I'd buy this over the Prius again just for the android auto, toyota is really behind on that front.

    Subjective can be tough at time, I realize, but if "driving the future" means driving a slower car that looks like something out of Pokemon (no offense to those who like that), and all that technology at one time, ah, no thank you. I need not know how plumbing works when I have to use the bathroom. As many of us car buyers (and enthusiasts) are far past 25 years old, a degree of "old school" (Insight looks) still has our attention in overall usability (Insight controls and layout). What I'd like to see is a gender/age survey on these two cars, that would be interesting. For me, Insight for the big win. But a good review, none the less. Thanks, guys!

    How does it compare to Clarity plugin hybrid - is it the same hybrid system? I know the Clarity is a larger car but is it worth the jump in price to get the Clarity?

    • @alliejr
      @alliejr 6 лет назад

      The hybrid systems are very similar. Both have no transmission and use the ICE as a generator and to supplement the electric powertrain at higher speed. The Clarity is slightly larger than the mid-size Accord while the Insight is a compact car. The Clarity is a plug-in hybrid with a larger, wall-rechargable battery and modest (45-ish miles) electric-only range while the Insight is a regular hybrid. Is the Clarity worth more? It depends on what you value, but in a basic sense the Clarity is one size (or more) larger so it's priced higher. The Clarity might also qualify you for a tax credit and/or HOV lane access.

    • @ronaldmail00
      @ronaldmail00 6 лет назад

      Yes, Clarity has same engine/E-CVT. Two big differences. Size: clarity is accord sized and insight is civic sized, so Clarity is more car. Clarity has bigger battery and is tuned to promote electric only driving while the insight version is tuned for optimal fuel sipping. The great weight difference makes clarity more thirsty, but hey, it's also more car.

    Every time I see someone driving a Prius, I think of that episode in South Park and the people who drove them are smug, so smug, that they love the smell of their own farts. With the addition of the the Hybrid Corolla, and the Insight, a hybrid is now an option for me. I want the great MPG but don't want the horrendous looks of the Prius.

  • @towardtheeast
    @towardtheeast 6 лет назад

    Went to a dealership, ask the salesman about the transmission on the clarity and the insight, he told me both DO have a transmission. What's the truth?

    • @ronaldmail00
      @ronaldmail00 6 лет назад

      Ejecutin Andobas they both have the same transmission. They have been calling it a "E-CVT" because it mostly uses just the electric motors but it still has planetary gears in there so it can dial in the engine directly over 45 mph.
      Kinda like only having the top gear in a trans but it just free rolls the rest of the time at low speeds with the electric motors.
      Its complicated to explain to salesmen and non auto savvy customers. Chevy Volt were the first ones with a similar trans system so not to scare away sales. Made sense, but eh...

    Plus not everyone wants a car crammed with a crap ton of tech! It's the classic argument more to go wrong! Tech is good don't get me wrong however, some car's can be over kill. So bouncing off his Toyota comment about the Prius I would not buy one mainly because it is hideous! But I don't want so much tech when I am 5 to 6 years into ownership of the car, I don't want to replace expensive electronics. Our society uses car's like cell phones. People rearly keep car's over 5 years now, they just trade up for another.

    Yeaaah, if you're not seeing the EPA ratings for mpg, then you're driving it too hard and too fast. Give me that car for a few hours and I'll get 55+ mpg on a 100 mile loop. Possibly 60-70 mpg if I hypermile it. I can get nearly 60 mpg over 15-20 miles in my moms 2015 Honda Fit EX, which is supposed to get 38. I can also get about 35 mpg in my 2015 Odyssey over 600 miles. It's all in how you drive.
