I took your older videos advice and got myself a 2010 Lexus RX 450h Sports Luxury for an absolute steal. The amount of car for ~$17k still makes me grin. The quality of these cars are simply awesome, smooth, comfort, practical, has converted me to a big Lexus fan. As much as I like some of the European cars, I can’t go past the reliability, relatively low maintain cost, and build quality of Lexus. Highly recommended 👍

My dad imported an 2011 estima 3 yrs ago, at first no one liked the looks, but over time we’ve loved it. Its been economical, has alot of space (even in the back row) and has never broken down
On the longevity of the Prius, we have just onsold our 2007 with 440,000km. Had one battery pack replacement in 2016 which with a changeover discount cost less than $1000 and was still performing well when we sold it. Fantastic cars, if a bit uninspiring to drive.
We used to have an is300h and even though it had around 160kw, it still was good to drive because it was rear wheel drive. Then we sold it for an es300h, that car was bigger and more comfortable but it had less equipment and less power than the is300h and I still miss it. Also the is300h had xenon headlights whereas the es had halogen lights which wasn't great.
The IS300h is fantastic! My mom owns one (at my recommendation). Honestly, it's a car I couldn't recommend enough to anyone, and it actually handles much nicer than my GS450h. I just couldn't get over it being electronically limited to 200km/h, and the IS350 was unfortunately never sold in my country. But if you're not a speed demon like me, the IS300h is the best.
All older Toyota hybrids and some newer models use nickel metal hydride battery, no need to worry about thermal runaway. Just need to ensure the battery vent inlet is vacuumed regularly
Hi all, have to agree totally on reasons for purchasing a hybrid vehicle. Have owned three Prius, and a CRZ. Wished I had kept the CRZ but still own a Gen 4 Prius and a mild hybrid Mazda 3 skyactiv x. All were reliable only the Gen 4 was new but none had any costs other than servicing and three sets of tyres in total. Mazda was also new. Gen 4 Prius currently at 4.3 to 4.4 litres/ 100 km. And between all the cars only one twelve volt battery replaced. As an ownership experience, utterly reliable nothing ever failed or broke. Highly recommend.
Lexus all the way. any of them. And Adam, I got those great Wipertech Blades for both my cars with your discount. The fit, no problems. And they work. This is my second set in five years.
I have a 2013 Prius V with 327K klms on it and it’s NEVER been in for repairs.Only oil changes ever 8k and I had to do the brakes at 274k and that’s it.
As an owner for 2 years of a Nissan Note epower E12 and it's just the standard version but it's a brilliant car, it's still quick although not nisno s level. Cheap to run and super reliable and that transmission is from the leaf and that's unbreakable. The Note epower is sooooo underrated and the even newer E13 is nice! Can't wait to see the Nismo S video!
Was in Japan a couple of months ago, the places we went were an ocean of Toyota Hybrids, and very few pure electric cars at all. In Central Tokyo you were more likely to see a Ferrari or Lambo than a Tesla, not that that is the sole EV on the market. It’s funny how the authorities in Australia benchmark our EV uptake against Scandinavian countries, and conveniently ignore one of our biggest trading partners.
Indeed been here in Japan for over 5 years and if you want EV hybrid it’s Toyota all the way, I hate to admit it but parked right next to my S15 in the drive way is a Toyota hybrid why cause they just work never an issue unless it’s a light bulb that needs replacing 😂

I know a lot about hybrid and full electric drivetrains, and the question I always ask people is, "If you're not buying a generation 2 Prius (ends 2009), or any other Toyota or Lexus hybrid why not?" I just bought my dream 2007 iTech (Side airbags) Prius with 185,000km and a full TOYOTA service history for $10,500....

Greetings from the uk,love your channel. I have two hybrids at home,2018 Toyota Yaris, this is the best value, featured version to go for as Toyota did a lot of updates under the skin and added new safety features,it is very comfortable and gets great fuel economy, average 46-54 miles per gallon in town and 56-60 on motorway, yes the new model is better but much more expensive for not much better fuel economy,5 years on the only fault is part of the led strip on one of the led lights failed, replaced with a completely new head light unit by Toyota for free. My brother has 2019 Camry but I went for the Lexus ES300 H late 2018 ,the ES what an amazing car,so quite, comfortable and refined, there is sound insulation in the engine bay even overlying the shock absorbers to isolate the noise, features like auto stop which will detect you are too close to a wall and slam the brakes when you are parking and the ventilation system that automatically detects pollution in the outer air and switch the intake to recirculation then back again to external intake when the air is clear are only a few of what this car offers in addition to the excellent fuels economy for such a large car as it has the 4th generation hybrid, the only fault is that one of the headlights started to develop moisture inside it , i am sure due to damage from the previous owner as the unit was was bent inward, replaced for free by lexus , likely expensive, got a free curtesy car while waiting for the repair, only downside is the lack of rear foldable seats. highly recommended. The fact that Toyota and Lexus offer you a 10 year full warranty provided you service the car yearly with them up to 100,000 miles Shows the confidence they have in quality of there products and makes them the Best buy that no other hybrid manufacturer can compete with.

I bought a 2014 Honda Fit Hybrid Import and while the family love the practicality and 5L per 100km fuel efficiency, we did manage to blow up the DCTi transmission with 51,000km on the clock so, not bulletproof. In hindsight, we should have had the transmission serviced upon purchase, as a precaution against the $4k spent for a secondhand replacement with 88,000km on it or an approx. $8k for a new one, ouch!
I feel hopeless after watching every ReDriven video. Very entertaining and detailed reviews which makes me want to go out and grab a car. I currently have a 3rd Gen Prius iTech aussie delivery and never had problems with it... if we had to replace it with another hybrid we would get the same car but the JDM Import Plugin Prius
If you're not a fan of dual clutch transmissions, you might want to skip the Kia Niro. Also, the Honda Fit wasn't sold as a hybrid in North America. So they're stuck with the CR-Z, Civic Hybrid (7th/8th generation), or the Insight. Or you could get the Accord hybrid or CR-V hybrid.
Hi Paradigm, on standard acceleration figures it would seem nothing special. However as an auto with paddle shift instantly accessing lower preset gears one or two clicks sail into a bend and back on the accelerator the instant electric boost makes it a natural action for the gearbox to upshift without needing to further click paddles. The auto has a wider spread between top and bottom gearing turning at lower revs on the highway and allowing snappy fast driving. And still achieving over 50 mpg imperial or 42 mpg us. Cheers.
I want a hybrid version of the Kia Rondo or the Mazda 5. I need a small mpv/tall station wagon. I am mobility limited and cant cram my arse into a lot of the tiny cars, I need enough space to cart 4 people and bags for a weekend at the cottage but still small enough that I can park it in the city and drive it everyday to work. I currently drive a 2014 Rondo with almost 92k km on it. It runs perfectly and I wont be looking for a few years yet but I dont know what to look at.

I’d prefer hybrids than full electric as of the moment. Just thinking if the gray import Toyota Estima hybrids will be long lasting and practical (2.4 litre engine).
Up to which year of a hybrid car do you recommend to buy? I have seen a lot of used honda fit 2016 on sale but I'm not quite sure if it is reliable. Toyota seems to be more reliable but they are a bit more expensive.
Well I've recently bought a 2017 Honda Hr-v Vezel full Hybrid in Z spec with the Honda sensing safety package from Japan, it has more features than any Honda on Aussie roads sadly due to your terrible federal government Hating on real built vehicles from Japan, this Hybrid on paper does 3.6L per 100km which mine is doing approx 900+ km per 38L tank of petrol, an absolutely brilliant small-med Suv If you can find one in decent condition under 120km mileage around $20k ish then buy it you won't regret it
i dont find much difference from my 2008 prius and the work 2022 hybrid corolla both get 4.5L/100 (the corolla varies less in winter and is less of a cow accelerating). I changed for a V6 tarago recently, didnt go for the estima hybrid as its battery change is even more back breaking and complicated than the old prius and harder to insure. unfortunately we dont see many of the battery pack upgrades other countries see :/ also got a fit hybrid and i love it, super speedy and nimble (way better than the corolla imo)
After watching this video I was thinking of a Lexus cx200h. But I see from the specs it requires premium unleaded. I can't understand why, the Prius can use regular. When premium is often 25c a litre more, it makes no sense for a car that is supposed to save you money at the pump.
Great piece of information. Following your recommendation from a previous video, I made the decision to purchase a 2012 CT200h earlier this year. I am currently in Greenwich, and if you're interested in featuring my CT, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd be delighted to share my experiences with it.

I almost got a Lexus CT200h, but everyone I looked at was absolutely trashed! Scratches, dents, gutter rash everywhere. I then saw the price someone had to pay to replace the battery pack, after only 100,000km and I figured, yeah nah.
The CT200h absoluteky does not have impeccable reliability. They eat head gaskets, its a well known problem. And among same geneation Prius. They claim it was fixed in 2015 but it wasnt really.
Yes they are and over 800km per tank on 91, great in the city or highway, regen braking [one pedal driving] so little use of friction brakes. Well worth a look, but make sure you drive it too, or treat yourself to the Nismo [with go-fast body kit] or better still the Nismo S but with a 25% lick in elec. power ie for a total of 100Kw 320Nm so it goes to match its looks - a real hoot.]
Several caveats here. An older hybrid, 8-10 years is going to have low battery efficiency, if the battery survives at all. The battery may still work, but you are just carrying a heavy lump that does not affect your fuel economy much at all, it fact it could mean that you are just carry around a basically dead battery, and have an underpowered and uneconomical ICE vehicle. So you are going to have to look at the remaining practical life of that battery. Has it been replaced, and if it has, is the battery reliable and efficient??. Battery tech has come a long way in 10 years, and as late as 2019, they had the older, less efficient types. Plug in hybrids are a better deal overall, if your circumstances permit it. They have bigger batteries, and if you use them correctly [charge them every night] when you have nearly depleted the battery, then they will last a long time. Modern rechargeable batteries have DEEP cycle capability, meaning that you can use most of the watt-hours available. [A lead acid battery, such as in the "house" will only give you 50% of it's capacity before you need to recharge]. With modern Lithium- ion, you can safely draw on about 90% or more [depends on the type] , and after that on-board battery management will shut it off. So a ten year old hybrid with a tired battery is simply not a good deal- whatever the price- UNLESS the battery is only a couple of years old. OEM hybrid batteries are enormously expensive, and after market ones can be a better deal, but you really have to know what you are doing. There is usually a good reason why an old hybrid is cheap as chips. You can be lucky, but batteries need to be properly used to get the stated life out of them. And beware those corporation fuel efficiency numbers. They are not exactly total lies, but nobody actually drives like that, and if you did, you would likely attract some road rage.

I don't think Genesis has hybrids yet, if they ever will. They plan to completely go electric in a few years.
@@damilolaakanni I know they have EVs but thought they had hybrids as well but I could be wrong.
Do you have to use the dual clutch for the Kia niro? Can you just use it in automatic? Sorry I'm a newbie with cars
What about the Toyota Prius C/Aqua?
Accord Hybrid is also a good choice I think; very reliable too.
Is it possible to change the battery of the note e power in Australia?
I have been waiting for this video for weeks!!! Yes!
I really enjoyed this and everything you said made sense but.... it did end up feeling like a Toyota ad.
If only Toyota salesmen were as informed and informative as ReDriven!
Adam, asking because my son is just learning to drive, a top 5 safe, reliable cars for red P platers, I think this would be a great addition to the library!
Going to get a Lexus NX hybrid. Love the look of them and not too large.
Should do chapters in this video @ReDriven :)
Bought corolla touring sports with 1.8 hybrid.
Crown Hybrid please
ct200h resale value indicates that it's not underrated at all. For the same price of 2016, you can buy a 2019 corolla
I am based in Sydney owning a 2014 CT200H
I’d prefer hybrids than full electric as of the moment. Just thinking if the gray import Toyota Estima hybrids will be long lasting and practical (2.4 litre engine).
Up to which year of a hybrid car do you recommend to buy? I have seen a lot of used honda fit 2016 on sale but I'm not quite sure if it is reliable. Toyota seems to be more reliable but they are a bit more expensive.
Well I've recently bought a 2017 Honda Hr-v Vezel full Hybrid in Z spec with the Honda sensing safety package from Japan, it has more features than any Honda on Aussie roads sadly due to your terrible federal government Hating on real built vehicles from Japan, this Hybrid on paper does 3.6L per 100km
which mine is doing approx 900+ km per 38L tank of petrol, an absolutely brilliant small-med Suv
If you can find one in decent condition under 120km mileage around $20k ish
then buy it you won't regret it
Can you please add in some freedom units for us over here in the good old USA
Is the kia niro hybrid acrually thatt good or reliable?
Still waiting eagerly on the Nissan e-power video.
Even willing to watch the raw unedited version......

Hey hey hey there's a queue for that video lol I can't wait for it
Im looking at a 2013 toyota sai. But the suspension is very hard. Im thinking its been lowered. Should it be like that?
Love this channel
Aww you’re too kind
Where does Kia Sportage HEV (after 2021) stand?
Your CT200h video put me off them
i dont find much difference from my 2008 prius and the work 2022 hybrid corolla both get 4.5L/100 (the corolla varies less in winter and is less of a cow accelerating).
To help prevent blowing a head gasket, which nobody talks about 😉
@@ln5747 that's just silly.
@@TheTimmymango no it's not, they literally have head gasket issues.
Great piece of information. Following your recommendation from a previous video, I made the decision to purchase a 2012 CT200h earlier this year. I am currently in Greenwich, and if you're interested in featuring my CT, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd be delighted to share my experiences with it.
2012 CTs aren't great. You'll change your mind when it inevitably eats a head gasket.

Didn’t they make a Holden version of the Opel/Vauxhall Ampera aka. Chevy Volt? Would be interesting to see what its like nowadays.
HEY kislux !! I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
Hi there, what U think bout sell 2016 Corolla/Auris wagon 1.4 diesel 210k km on it and buy 2007 Lexus RX350 140k km? Is it a good idea to buy so old suv?
Waiting for the Nissan note nismo video review!!!!!!!!
Tune in next Friday! (not this Friday)
Are after market parts easily available in Australia for the JDM imported cars you mentioned like Toyota Sai and Fielder etc..
Avoid all toyota 2AZ 2.4 hybrids or non-hybrids unless the ringland recall was performed.
Don't sleep on the Honda CR-Z. It's the only affordable hybrid with a manual transmission
CRZ ...??
@@paradigm3876 yeah lol my bad
The Honda Fit hybrid with the DSG transmission is extremely problematic, there are many of those in NZ and they failed consistently. The 4 transmission recalls from Honda did not fix the problem
Do you mean CVT?
@@ln5747 the CVT is reliable, but the 3rd gen Jazz/Fit hybrid has a DSG (dry dual clutch) transmission that is extremely problematic. There were 4 recalls on that tranny
Please adam could you review the mg3 excite i have as well as a suburu outback but i love driving the mg3 be interested in your thoughts. Thanks heaps .
love my 2020 hybrid gx 2wd rav4 hybrid
Bro just showed us the whole Toyota & Lexus catalogue
IS300h or new Kona Hybrid would be my picks.
I almost got a Lexus CT200h, but everyone I looked at was absolutely trashed! Scratches, dents, gutter rash everywhere. I then saw the price someone had to pay to replace the battery pack, after only 100,000km and I figured, yeah nah.
Given your endorsements for virtually every Toyota ever made can we punters assume that Toyota's CVT gearboxes a very reliable with good longevity?
Watching this in Canberra Hospital. 😢 Where's the Escort, boys.🎉
Hey im base in sydney and i have lexus ct200h 2017. Let me know if you keen to do a review. Thanks
Awesome info! Hey everyone what do y'all think about a 2014 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Limited for 16,900. 89,000 miles?
Hi, if most of my km are on country roads, is a hybrid still worth the investment? Thanks
Not in the slightest you exhaust the battery in a few k's but have to lug around the weight all the time
Not as much as a city runabout but still perfectly viable. The Toyota ones anyway, because of their Atkinson cycle engines.
Hey you tested an Opel Astra hatch a while ago, i can't find it?
The CT200h absoluteky does not have impeccable reliability. They eat head gaskets, its a well known problem. And among same geneation Prius. They claim it was fixed in 2015 but it wasnt really.
Any love for the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid?
Maserati as background cars… love it.
Redriven have you done a Lexus LS 430 review.
Please suggest me a car in sedan shape in budget of 10k to 13k.
Could you review a Toyota Sienna
Nissan Note looks like fun
Yes they are and over 800km per tank on 91, great in the city or highway, regen braking [one pedal driving] so little use of friction brakes. Well worth a look, but make sure you drive it too, or treat yourself to the Nismo [with go-fast body kit] or better still the Nismo S but with a 25% lick in elec. power ie for a total of 100Kw 320Nm so it goes to match its looks - a real hoot.]
@@paradigm3876 Sounds good 👌
The fact that the q50 doesn’t make this list shows me how much of a secret that hybrid is.
Which one is Paul Maric
Where is the Volvo S60 T8 Recharge?????
First like and comment ❤
