My dad taught me this knot when I was a kid. The only thing he did differently was that he ran the tag end back through the loop twice instead of once. Don't know what difference this makes, but I still always do it this way simply because it reminds me of him. He was a fantastic fisherman. I'm sure that he is now catching some whoppers in heaven.
*Perfect and I’ve used it for ballon arches as **enjoyable.fishing** recommend well as other decor with parties. It is strong and will hold up well. It works so good that another decorator stole my roll at an event!*
Hey bro thank you very much for the tutorial, I’ve struggled with knots my entire life especially fishing knots… I have issues with my small motor skills meaning I struggle to manipulate small objects and it’s hard for me to make very small accurate movements like typing or TYING KNOTS for example LOL. Anyways I was able to do it thanks to this video! Thanks again. If I had one piece of constructive criticism it’s to record the video with your hands in the same way I’m looking down at mine right now, instead of recording it in reverse which forced me to turn the video upside down on my phone. Happy fishing 🎣 y’all!!
thank you, this is the knot that i used for a while. Its been 10 years since i went fishing and i forgot how it was done. i used to use the version where you have to wrap the line around the hook, then my stoner friend showed me this one, it was a game changer
I remember learning the Clinch Knot from an old wheelchair-bound hero Vet on the dock of Brown's Landing before we took the Miss Charity Isle out to fill a bucket with perch. Great memories, great knot. I've taught it to my boys now. Keep the tutorials coming, JB.
I've been trying do knots for while but mess it up so stuck to a granny knot. These vids make sense and are easy to follow. No more lost hooks in a poor fishes mouth.
Good old clinch knot. I don't use it anymore. I will use the improved clinch, where you pass the tag end through the gap created when you pass the tag end through the loop, if I am using 50lb test braid for my catfish rig. Good video.
I use the Palomar when I'm fishing jigs, but I usually am using the Trilene knot. If fish 10lb braid conceded by an double uni knot to an 18 inch floro leader and a snap swivel if I'm using spoons or spinners. Other than those it is a Trilene knot.
Thanks a million!!! I've been trying to figure this out for a long time. I just tied on the swivels, that I use on my fishing rods and did it in less than a minute.
Thank you. Brother it’s 5 in the morning and there’s a fishing derby tomorrow and I realized I didn’t know how to tie it and my dad is 3 states away since I’m visiting my grandma and grandpa you saved me
As a kid I always thought fishing was this mysteriously complicated affair with lines, and knots and tricks, and tangles, and smart/jumpy fish. Note I see that it’s not inaccessible, but there is a lifetime of learning involved.
Thank you so much!! I've been doing it similar but only been wrapping it around maybe 2 times!! Also didn't know about the lube needed on the line. Thanks again!!!
Thanks, this video helped me, the only part I screwed up when I was doing myself that I didn't pull the main line at the end, I pulled the waste one that you can cut off.
Great video! I have used that knot as long as I can remember! In my experience I have always found its a good idea to leave a little bit of trailer line at the end of the knot because after time passes the trailer will get pulled shorter and can if not long enough cause a knot failure.
I use that same knot when I use plastic line. But, to finish it off. I put the tail end through the top loop, after I already put it through the bottom loop, and pull it tight. I do that extra bit for a more efficient knot.
This what we in UK call a half blood knot, you can make it stronger..after you put the five twists in, you pass the end through the loop nearest the hook eye, then...you take the tag end and pass it through the the loop nearest to your right hand,...lubricate and pull tight. Its called a tucked half blood Knot, I use it when I am likely to catch hard fighting fish like carp, perch or chub.
Thank you! Super very helpful! I’m just getting into fishing and got my line stuck. I know how to properly break the line, but not how to tie a new one on. This was very helpful!
You're the first person I've seen who shows it in a way that my child-like mind can follow so thank you very much.
Seriously
same 😂

thank you for the first knot to work . your xtra comment on sliding the knot tight was perfect to finally get a perfect knot
I literally cannot follow this or any of the other videos I’ve watch so I’m just going to do a normal knot thanks anyway
Love the Clinch, Rapala and Palomar knots. Learn as many as you can. Fishing knots are a work of art.
Well said! I couldn't agree more.

"game speed" earned a like and a comment. Crispy, clean content. 👍👍
You deserve a trophy for this short and simple demonstration
Finally someone has a video where you can actually see what's going on...THANKS!!

I'm 69 and been using this knot my whole life ! great knot !
This is the knot I learned as a child from my dad (RIP) and it's the knot I'll be teaching my son this week.
You sir are a great teacher. Thank you 🙏🏼 for sharing this important knotting technique. Sub and liked 🤙🏽✌🏽🎣
Somebody give him medal! Can't be easier if explained like here!

An improved clinch will hold braid, eh? Good to know! I usually go palomar on braid rigs.

Thanks this saved me from utter embarrassment with friends
Best video on the internet by far! :D
I'm using a fishing pole to fly a kite today and needed to know this. Thank you for the quick, easy to follow video!
Thanks a million!!! I've been trying to figure this out for a long time. I just tied on the swivels, that I use on my fishing rods and did it in less than a minute.
Thank you, I suck at fishing so this made things way easier haha
I haven't salt water fished since living in Florida. Nice video so beginners can figure it out. I wanted a quick refresher before going to Florida
Thankyou for making this so easy to follow. I hadn’t tied a knot for years and needed a refresher
Thankyou for this. It was really easy to understand.

Thanks used to catch mirror carp and I’m trying to get back into fishing
Thank you for telling me how to tie the rope, I am very satisfied ❤️️
Thank you for this vid, taking my son on our 1st father son fishing day and needed to relearn how to tie a knot.
This helped me a lot I understood what you did and it wasn't that difficult
Thanks for the video. Helped alot with tying my small trout hooks.
This is the first fishing knot my dad taught me when I first started fishing!! Nice video!!!
Honestly made life so easy for me today, I could not for the life of me remember how to knot a hook. Subscribed!
Thank you so much!! I've been doing it similar but only been wrapping it around maybe 2 times!! Also didn't know about the lube needed on the line. Thanks again!!!
You've been lucky not losing fish! You can always bring the tail up through the top gap. Called improved clinch knot. Been trying it since I was 8
Nice..and so easy!!! Cool video!!!
I am 47 years old and brand new to fishing… thanks for this advice! Can’t wait to try it out soon.
Wow! Great video. Thanks!
Live this method easy and very effective, thanks for the video
This is pretty slick. I just tied my predator rig onto my tip-up while watching this video on how to do it. Thank you
Thanks, this video helped me, the only part I screwed up when I was doing myself that I didn't pull the main line at the end, I pulled the waste one that you can cut off.

Good point. Thanks!
Well you've just made this lady happy .. the clinch knot is the easiest for me to do .. thanks for sharing :)
Thankyou for getting straight to the point.
whats the advantage / use case for this vs a snell knot around the shaft of the hook? is the other one primarily for tying on yarn, hoochies, etc?
Thanks for this, was wondering why the line kept breaking or coming lose, never lubed it up before pulling tight.
Very good and strong knot🍷🍷
I’m a beginner and this seems super easy thanks bud
I love you for this 😩
I do be liking how this man be going really slow for them loosers like myself.
Great video, thank you!
Thank you so much. I am now an expert at fishing
Thank you…used it tonight and caught a bass ,,knot held ..so simple ..hard to believe it works…but does.
I use that same knot when I use plastic line. But, to finish it off. I put the tail end through the top loop, after I already put it through the bottom loop, and pull it tight. I do that extra bit for a more efficient knot.
Yessir, that works too.

Thank for showing how to tie your Knott on the hook
Thank you for this sir!

These knots work and can verify from all the snags I got where I had to snap the line. It wasn’t that knot that was the failure point.
it failes me alot because I always pull the tag end thanks for the help :)
Same, glad I saw this
What's a good knot for the opposite end to clip onto your leader?
Thank you so much for making this!
Clinch knot.. thanks for that. Will use this. I have been wanting to learn to tie a hook but keep procrastinating..
Very informative.. thanks.

Thank you so much this really helped me alot
Thank you! Super very helpful! I’m just getting into fishing and got my line stuck. I know how to properly break the line, but not how to tie a new one on. This was very helpful!
Thanks for this I was pulling from both sides and this resulted in messed up knots. No tutorial or diagram ever explained this.
