I’ve fished only twice in my life with somebody else and I would like to learn to do it by my self. This video is gold in my hands. Thank you. You definitely got another subscriber.
Thanks again and great useful content! I've been fishing with buddies and I'm tired of them having to help me that takes away from their fishing fun. Ready for my fishing indepence thanks to your videos.
Yes, turning the hook is very efficient. With ganged trebles like on a hard jerkbait, especially one with quality 'sticky sharp' trebles, the fingers method is much safer.
Been watching your videos for about a year now- my favorite channel on youtube! Is that a big green egg on your porch? You should totally make a video cooking some caught filets on that thing.
I am so glad I found your channel. I would argue it is the most friendly to newbies. I can't even call myself a newbie, I haven't even gotten started yet but I LOVE the ocean and I want to fish to spend more time with it. :)
Really great abrasion resistance and though I've never put the Big Game line ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQ4x31pJVpClzhxzNFeILZYTW7Xbs7ZIF (any poundage) through an official test it always seems to break well above rated poundage. This line stretches a very good amount before it breaks and does well in saltwater too. Not the best line for a spinning reel in my opinion, especially if you're planning on using it for lures only due to it having a bit of memory but still a great line whether filling a spool, using as top shot or strictly for leader line. I've bought a bunch of Big game line in the past and plan on continuing to do so in the future.
I am Aussie thanks mate, love your tips and a great finger guard, I have trouble with sore fingers, can you buy them from tackle shops haven’t seen them, only in chemistry’s. Cheers
I teach fishing knots to the Boy Scouts for their fishing merit badge , we use all these plus the Palomar knot , which I like . I always get a sense of accomplishment when I tie the Uni to Uni . Nice videos , Thanks !
There's nothing wrong with a Palomar- in fact, it's stronger than a clinch. The only reason not to use it more frequently is the looping it over a large bait. I ALWAYS prefer and use a Palomar knot, if I can.
@murphroberts4891 especially with braid line I'll never used clinch or improved for braid Really the only knots you need are uni and arbor. Palomar is nice, but doesn't do anything the uni won't do But it's all crappy opinions anyways lol
The improved clinch knot I use with mono or floro. The second knot I use for braid. The clinch knot is not the best for braid because of how smooth it is. Works great for mono and floro
Hmmm, that loop knot use a two overhand knots. I'm pretty sure if we made the second knot a clinch or improvised clinch knot might improved knot strength 30 - 50%.
Thanks this is a great video for a beginner like me. Using the big hook and line made the tutorial extremely helpful. You explained all knots and instructions really well and easy to follow. I will be following your channel..
On you number 4 the mine line you showed the mainline going back through the eye of the hook and then you pull it up tight if I’m not mistaken you could not do that if you had your main line going back to your rod it would be going to your eye hook
the only knot that surprised me a little was the loop knot. that knot holds okay to what pound test? that's what you use for tarpon etc as well as reds, and trout? That looked really easy.
I know a lot of people are fixated on this knot but I want knots fast and easy to tie and strong. Do Not Need 100% knot unless you don't plan to use the drag on your reel. The exception is if you plan to use a long wind on leader and you need something to pass through the guides of the rod. I never take my braid/leader knot through the guides.
Can i use these for saltwater fishing as well im not new to fishing but i have a bunch of loose hooks with no strings and now i know how to use them but what do you say about salt water fishing
Or just use the loop knot for lures and the uni knot for everything else. A uni knot is heaps easier to tie than the traditional snell on a hook shank.
I use the double uni knot to tie tapered leaders for fly fishing. Far easier to tie than a blood knot. I have no idea why anyone continues to use the blood know.
This guy is smooth no wasted talk.
So glad i found this post ,great knots for my craft work
this guy is a pro. he explains what he is doing very professionally.
I used to fish in my teens all the time but just started back after almost 15 years of not going . I definitely needed this video !
You the goat for this video bro. Real spill 💪
Man, I've seen dozens of videos on tying knots over the past few yrs. This, by far, has been the best video I've seen yet.
Thanks for the demonstration on how you tie fishing knots. I'll be trying a few of them out next time I get the chance to go Bass fishing.
It must be such a joy to work with nature every day.
I love using the improved clinch knot. Never lets me down.
Thanks bud!! Those were very helpful 👍
Got straight to the point!! nice clear instruction for a begginer like me! Thanks man, fish on!!
Very helpful video - added to favorites to come back and watch again!

Best video I have ever seen about these knots..for real! Really appreciate it!
This is exactly what I needed and you did it so simply that I could understand it. Thank you my man!!
Thanks soo much. I am fishing all my life but mastered the rt of knot making. I tried the Uni Knot and it's great.
Dude thanks mate. Practice makes perfect. 🍻Cheers Dude! 🎣
Thanks again and great useful content! I've been fishing with buddies and I'm tired of them having to help me that takes away from their fishing fun. Ready for my fishing indepence thanks to your videos.
the first one works soooo good!
Thanks for the new knots definitely going to try em out
Very informational. Much appreciated, dude!😊
Great video kid, I’m just starting out and this is one of the best instructions I have come across!
I'm with ya, Brent. Our weather has sucked yesterday and today....Supposed to return to normal this weekend. As always, good video.
Good idea turning the hook on the improved clinch. Been looping the line around and around with my fingers all these years!
Same here, I fish ultra light 4 lb. test, 2 lb. leader with #12 hooks. Tying that clear thin line with 69 year old eyes can be a challenge.
Thank you for teaching me these knots. You made it easy for me to grasp!
Yeah easy to see it with that giant hook and that line he is using. Almost impossible with bad eyes to see that loop .
Yes, turning the hook is very efficient. With ganged trebles like on a hard jerkbait, especially one with quality 'sticky sharp' trebles, the fingers method is much safer.
I really enjoy your videos because you find ways to teach this old dude something. Thanks!
Really enjoyed the vid it is the best knot vid I’ve seen.
What a good video!!! Thank you!
Thanx for the great lesson I learned something Ill certainly use..

I love your vids man keep up the great work
I'm sitting here with some hooks and a couple rolls of mono practicing these knots. Plan on putting them to practice this weekend.
Thanks for this video! It's helping me! I really appreciate it!
From Down Under Down Under Hobart Tasmania. Thank you for the lesson, :-) God Bless for sharing :-) :-) :-)
Very nice and easy to see and understand. 👍
Good video thanks
Ever heard of rain gear? Follow the barometer. Rain or not fishing is an all-time sport.
Much appreciated mate!
great video, easy to follow!

Awesome video thanks for sharing!!
Really like how you can make it look so easy!
Easy and simple 👌 thank you broski
Excellent video! Thank you.
Great tip
Thanks for the video. I Need to try some new knots, failing eye sight is causing me to miss-tie knots these days.
That’s awesome thanks for it 😊
This was solid
I am so glad I found your channel. I would argue it is the most friendly to newbies. I can't even call myself a newbie, I haven't even gotten started yet but I LOVE the ocean and I want to fish to spend more time with it. :)
Thanks for all the info.
uni knot is the best!
Really great abrasion resistance and though I've never put the Big Game line ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQ4x31pJVpClzhxzNFeILZYTW7Xbs7ZIF (any poundage) through an official test it always seems to break well above rated poundage. Best video ever
Excellent video
well presented mate! You have shown us novices how to tie a fishing knot in simple forms!Well done for us inexperienced people!

@@murphroberts4891 i asked why hefore but you answer here thanks
@murphroberts4891 especially with braid line
I'll never used clinch or improved for braid

Good Job!
Dude your scissors were killing me!🤣
Yes, they are dull for sure
Good job 👍
That is awesome thanks
Great vidio . Thanks
Thank you 😊
On the snell knot, you want the leader coming out the eye on the hook side of the eye to help rotate the hook when a fish bites.
That first knot helped me a lot, I don't have four years of college.
I have got where I ty the trilene knot a lot of times I use Trilene A lot holds good easy 2 ty great videos
Keep it up, and. Your videos will go far!
Cheers Mate.
Great idea thanks
Very nice thank you
The improved clinch knot I use with mono or floro. The second knot I use for braid. The clinch knot is not the best for braid because of how smooth it is. Works great for mono and floro
Can’t go wrong with a Uni Knot
Nice job
well done knots
Hmmm, that loop knot use a two overhand knots. I'm pretty sure if we made the second knot a clinch or improvised clinch knot might improved knot strength 30 - 50%.
(Improved clinch) so you gave the knot I invented a name very interesting
Thanks!!!!

Thank you
Thank you.
Can u use these knots for lures too? Right?
Yes!
I found the double uni won’t grab if the leader line is thick ! Am I doing something wrong ?
I'd recommend doing a couple extra loops with your braid then, so like 4/5 turns with the leader and like 6/7 turns with the braid. See if that helps
I do 3 and 7 every time, no issues. the braid needs more wraps.
Thanks
Great video Brent very informative also it didn't take very long to jump up a grand in subscribers congrats!
Tanks broo
In Alaska with Sockeye I love the loop knot with a circle hook for flossing. It really helps position the hook for it to turn as it hooks in.
On you number 4 the mine line you showed the mainline going back through the eye of the hook and then you pull it up tight if I’m not mistaken you could not do that if you had your main line going back to your rod it would be going to your eye hook
mantap bos 👍
Is the uni knot strong enough for most saltwater fish such as reds and snook. Or do you recommend a stronger knot.
I can speak from experience that it is. It's what I tie 90% of the time for everything from trout to tarpon
Brent Schirmer thanks! I’ll be giving it a try.
How many fish have you lost because of a Uni?
You ever been trout or redfish fishing in louisiana?
No I haven't, but Louisiana is definitely a place I want to go fish! Especially for the big bull reds and offshore for tuna
Trust me its amazing for the bull reds im actually goijg to grand isle sunday to try to get on some from the pier. And some monster speckled trout
the only knot that surprised me a little was the loop knot. that knot holds okay to what pound test? that's what you use for tarpon etc as well as reds, and trout? That looked really easy.
I've used that loop knot on 40lb leader before, but now I use uni knots nearly all the time for everything inshore
Just wondering, are these knots for fresh and seawater?
You can use it for anything
Surprised that the FG knot was not on this list and your primary used for braid to leader?
I know a lot of people are fixated on this knot but I want knots fast and easy to tie and strong. Do Not Need 100% knot unless you don't plan to use the drag on your reel. The exception is if you plan to use a long wind on leader and you need something to pass through the guides of the rod. I never take my braid/leader knot through the guides.
