The egg-knot is one of the first I was taught. We use it to tie on roe for Salmon and Steelhead fishing. Works great! Unfortunately older age and arthritis makes the knot a wee bit more difficult these days. Tip for you young wiper-snappers: Get your self a large hook and cut the pointy-end off and remove or crimp down any barbs... This makes an excellent practice tying hook when you're sitting around or even in bed. Tie a handful of knots before you go to sleep. A little each night helps build muscle-memory. Thank you for the video!
That first knot I’ve used since I was a little kid. It was on the back of a lure packet and it’s worked every time since I learnt it. I've used it on swings for kids and also in camping.
I picked up fishing this year as something to do on the weekends with my son..I've literally used your videos to help get me get set up and catching fish. Just want to say Thank you!
This dude taught me alot about fishing than any other RUclips videos.. just want to say thanks to you. I started out catching small fishes to now catching tuna and blue marlins.
one of the small things I appreciate about this video is the guidance on finger work while tying these knots. If I had a video of me tying these knots with my current finger work, it might go viral lol. finger work should make me more efficient as my son is just starting so he's getting hung up on a lot of stuff and I'm tying a lot
I only ever use two knots uni to uni for braid to fluoro and palomar for everything else they have never failed me and i have never needed anything else but love what your doing man we need to teach and help everyone we can to help keep our passion for fishing alive for the future generations
Wow! this is a very informative video. Hey Skipper is a professor of Technique Excellent technique making it easy to do by applying it and practicing it as much as possible.. I use to know how to tie these knots when i was a young boy.. My dad would drop me and my twin brother off at the lake where we lived and we spent every day in the summer fishing, for years. We met this older man there who had been a fisherman for more than 60 years and we spent as much time with him as we could and he taught us many great things about techniques and knot tying etc etc etc and he became our mentor on how to catch the big ones but more importantly on being good kids and being only 14 years old the things he taught us were like gold nuggets . i have since forgotten some of the techniques about knots but i still know about 3 or 4 different ones.. and i remember that old sweet man..His name was Bryce.. I'm sure he has since passed on being this was more than 50 years ago but i will always remember that kind old man who taught me and my twin how to tie knots and i have since taught my grand kids the same things we learned.. Paying it Forward ..!
That was instructive. All these years that I have tied off gut I have been making it harder than it needs to be. As a non-fisher I never realised that you should sacrifice six inches of line and then tying knots becomes easy enough for a child to do. I have always wasted time making knots with an inch of tail on gut and having to be patient and meticulous. I learnt something new today.
I'm knot obsessesed! This is one of the best knot videos I've seen. Good job. I was having issues learning to tie a good snell. Love that last snell you showed. Just back today from a mid Oct trip to CAPE POINT. The fishing was very slow everywhere. No drum caught by anyone at the point the three days I fished it. The point shape has changed and I think the fish are out far and going around an island that use to be the tip of the point.
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the account password. I love any tips you can offer me
Hola. Just to let you know I really enjoy all your videos. Gracias for sharing your knowledge. And I send you and to all your family a big hug from Playa del Carmen México 😃🎣
i'm no fisherman. i came here because of knot tying. you did a good job in the technique and the why. i teach knot tying, and nobody EVER (ok, nearly nobody ever) heard about a hard knot and just decided THAT'S FOR ME! but knots are useful and peopel who can tie knots won't ever lose a bookshelf off the top of a car on the interstate.
I'm having to Re-Learn these things after loosing memories due to stroke several years ago. Just starting to get back into fishing. Thank You for this information, and now I'm subscribed ready to view more of your tutorials.
I've been fishing since a child but NO ONE taught me how to tie proper knots, I just kinda did random knots and just hope they held 😅 I mean it worked but thank you guys for the videos that show how to tie proper knots, I think the Snell is going to be my go to. Now just to find which set up would be best, especially for my kids. Just got them some brand new spinner Ugly Stik combos to learn on, they're only about 3'6" so perfect for them to learn with, the closed reels were causing issues casting and the spinner was always easiest for me as a kid so that's what I got them 😊
Thank you for a very informative easy to follow tutorial with close-ups when needed for finger positioning. Glad to see the first knot was the one I've used since being a kid. Fish on 🐟
I always love watching your videos! And that you leave in the funny bloopers… its all good. Going to use one of those for big cat fishing around all the rocks and concrete structures..
This video was an amazing refresher on knots. I always use the no-disappoint knot but instead of twisting and passing through an eye I form a simple square knot and pass the hoop over the hook and tackle and bind it. Way less steps, virtual unbreakable, and less excess to cut
Knot 4 is a perfect knot for me here in southern Idaho fishing large rainbows and browns over abrasive lava rock and threading night crawlers onto hook and line!!👍 Thanks Brother!!
I wanted to give a like and subscribe, but then I noticed I already did that last year. I think this just shows how good your videos are. LOL. Thanks for nice tutorials!
I have used the first one, the improved clinch knot, since I was a teenager. I am 57 now and I have NEVER had a knot slip. The number of times the line has broken at the knot I could probably count on one hand and in all of those instances it should probably have been retied. Improved clinch knot rules!
I use the Snell knot for most of my fishing. I use eyed hooks for sea fishing but, spade end for most of my freshwater fishing. It works perfectly on both.
I learned a snell knot early and use it for everything lol. The snell with a twist looks amazing. I’ll be doing that when fishing around sneaky stuff that’ll break me off. Good stuff!
G'day, Luv ya channel mate. Fair dinkum you make stuff look so simple. I reckon I'm about the same age as ya old man, with respect, he seems like a cool Dad. Keep up the great footage and if ever you're down under, look us up and we'll down a frothy. Cheers.

Thanks!
Don't forget the golden rule...If you can't tie a knot, tie a LOT!
If you can't tie a knot..... learn
@@nickster5286 yes which implies practice, or tying a lot of knots like Dave said. 😊
Constant tension or ur knot falls apart , and practice with bigger line and carabineer, etc.
🤣🤣🤣
I just did this just now when I'm fishing, cause cant refer youtube
That first knot I’ve used since I was a little kid. It was on the back of a lure packet and it’s worked every time since I learnt it. I've used it on swings for kids and also in camping.
bowline?
@@p25h76l the improved clinch knot.
Bow line ftw
Haha me to! Back of the box picture. Caught 2 nice rainbows today with it😂
Same here. My grandfather taught me this knot. Never failed and follows the rule K.I.S.S.
I've never gone fishing in my life and yesterday, my first fishing pole arrived!! You're my first fishing RUclipsr!!
How have you been going over the last year?
Are you still fishing
I picked up fishing this year as something to do on the weekends with my son..I've literally used your videos to help get me get set up and catching fish. Just want to say Thank you!
This dude taught me alot about fishing than any other RUclips videos.. just want to say thanks to you.
I started out catching small fishes to now catching tuna and blue marlins.
"less talking and fishing, more teaching and learning," I never expected this from a fishing channel.
He is amazing
Finally got this egg loop down. Thanks
for the clear and detailed presentation.
Tight Lines !!!

Uni knot for me, fast ,easy and very rarely breaks, I've pulled up 8 foot sharks with it, easy to tie when rolling around in the swell
I thought about leaving a funny comment, but I better knot.
Loll
Finally, a video of someone doing a delicate procedure with an actual good camera angle
I only ever use two knots uni to uni for braid to fluoro and palomar for everything else they have never failed me and i have never needed anything else but love what your doing man we need to teach and help everyone we can to help keep our passion for fishing alive for the future generations

I love getting fishing knowledge from you. You're very helpful. I hope to spot you in obx one year.
Easy for you to say. I'm getting so old I find it hard to thread the line through the hook.
When I do get it right I and up making a fishing net. : )
🙏🙏 my knots never been this good. They may be difficult but you made it easy. Very useful video. Thanks
That egg loop knot is insane. I'll have it down by tomorrow evening for sure though!

The explanation of hook types and knots to use was very helpful. I'd never even considered it.

Hola. Just to let you know I really enjoy all your videos.

I have been to playa del Carmen such a beautiful place! Thank you for watching and wishing the best to you and your family 🙏🏼

Wow that’s so true. I never thought of it like that. No body is born knowing how to tie a good knot, so it’s all passed down knowledge.
That doubled leader on the 4th hardest the overhand knots should probably be surgeon(double overhand knots)
I'm having to Re-Learn these things after loosing memories due to stroke several years ago. Just starting to get back into fishing. Thank You for this information, and now I'm subscribed ready to view more of your tutorials.
I'm sorry you had to go through that.
I like the way you explain things it helps thanks
Simplest knot: Palomar! Very strong, quick to tie, and easy!
Isn't that type of food
I've been fishing since a child but NO ONE taught me how to tie proper knots, I just kinda did random knots and just hope they held 😅 I mean it worked but thank you guys for the videos that show how to tie proper knots, I think the Snell is going to be my go to. I ive used a modified version of the first knot for lures and the snell knot for hooks. Works perfectly fine!
Thank you for a very informative easy to follow tutorial with close-ups when needed for finger positioning. Glad to see the first knot was the one I've used since being a kid. Fish on 🐟
I use the first one he showed but I loop the eye on the hook two times with my string THANKS FOR SHOWING ALL YOUR FISH LINE KNOTS.
Great video! Thank you.
That is very true! You can tie the knot for many different reasons.
Sometimes, it is shotgun.
way better than most channels you explain it very clearly everyone else is confusing
I always love watching your videos! And that you leave in the funny bloopers… its all good. Going to use one of those for big cat fishing around all the rocks and concrete structures..
Awesome video mate.
The last one is just amazing 👏 😍

Yes I don't know what it's called but very easy and it works, hardest part is getting the doubled line through the eye of hook.
We have always known the first knot as a tucked blood knot. Works in almost every situation. Reliable and strong.
Excellent video Young Man!
You would make a good teacher in real life!
The egg loop knot is such a great idea. Thanks.
thanks , remembered them all
Best knowledge to have.. Thank yall..im refer yall to my fishing buddies for knowledge and tips..
Super cool stuff there!
I tied fishing leaders hundreds at the time and mastered the egg loop knot it’s soooooooooooooooooooo good
Nice succinct review. Thanks.
Subscribed and thank you. Hope this reaches you and those you love in great health and happiness 🙏❤️😎🎣
Excellent thank you 👍🏼
Knot 4 is a perfect knot for me here in southern Idaho fishing large rainbows and browns over abrasive lava rock and threading night crawlers onto hook and line!!👍
Thanks Brother!!
Tks, great watching.
Good video and like how the focus shows everything really well
Super-human expert level..
Tie a knot on a size 24 (UK) spade end hook using 0.5lb line and only your fingers! ;)
I’m using this for pike fishing!!
I wanted to give a like and subscribe, but then I noticed I already did that last year. I think this just shows how good your videos are. LOL. Thanks for nice tutorials!
Awesome job sir!!!!! Can’t really find many people that can do those knots.
Top "notch" instruction, seriously!
Those were great 👍 thanks.
VERY easy to understand you, GREAT presentation and camera view. You got a new Subscriber. Thank you so much!

The egg loop looks pretty handy. I use clams alot in the surf up here in Massachusetts.
VERY IMPRESSED, EASY TOO UNDERSTAND, WELL DONE YOU.
🦈🐠🐙🐛
This is a nice video fishing knot for very fisherman should watch for tying fishing hook, thank brother for sharing 👍🎣
3 reminds me much of a straight lash. NIce seeing familiar concepts in something initially confusing.
wow amazing knots
I find a figure eight knot is also pretty useful. Quick to tie, and never failed me.
Excellent info
I use the Snell knot for most of my fishing. I use eyed hooks for sea fishing but, spade end for most of my freshwater fishing. It works perfectly on both.
Greetings, from Algeria, and thank you very much for your explanation
Been using that first knot for the past 56 years...never failed me.
Thanks for this video! It is really helpful for a beginner like me
Excellent tutorial. Thank you.
A bottle of superglue should be in every tackle box. Some of these knots don’t need it but It couldn’t hurt!
I LOVE YOU MAN!!!!
Ty im a beginner in pier fishing and im learning alot ty
I like it! Thanks man, I learned, now I need to practice.
Thank great tutorials 😎
Cheers Mate.
Thank you!
I learned quite a few from u thank you again
Good video, thanks
Thank you so much!!!
Real helpful and good presentation, TY! :-)
Love you videos
I learned a snell knot early and use it for everything lol.
The snell with a twist looks amazing. I’ll be doing that when fishing around sneaky stuff that’ll break me off. Good stuff!
Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo 👍👌🙏👌👍
very useful for me fishing beginners. and very useful for my buwat. thank you for the video. let me save for me to learn more.
Great job on those knots!

i learn a lot. TQ
Very educational videio...I LIKE!!!
Wow #4 is mind boggling. I wish I knew that years ago! Great educational and straight forward video👊
Imporoved clinch knot, i use that one allot
G'day, Luv ya channel mate. Fair dinkum you make stuff look so simple. I reckon I'm about the same age as ya old man, with respect, he seems like a cool Dad. Keep up the great footage and if ever you're down under, look us up and we'll down a frothy. Cheers.
That was cool!
Awesome video. I knew a few and learned a couple.
NICE MITCHELL REELS IN THE BACKGROUND...
I am super exited for the new series
Videos like this are why I am subscribed to the channel
Palomar knot on everything. Small knot size and has never failed me in freshwater.
Instructions knot clear...my top knot is loose! Jkz! Lol. Very informative!
Great video. Thank you for this!
in the third knot i didn't realize you were rolling the line at first and thought this went from instructional video to "Magic Tricks With Skipper"
