Thank you! Trying to convince hubby I can tie his hooks and lures when broken, rather than throwing away and buying new. He said he didn't know how to tie the knots onto the hook shanks, went to RUclips typed in "How to..." and up you came! Watched you, then showed him I could do it on a sewing needle! I have little hands with more dexterity. Easy peasey, wifey can do!

The overhand “Safety Knot” is called a “Stop Knot” or a “Jam Knot”. The Canadian Jam Knot or San Diego Jam Knot relies on the same concept. Haven’t seen it on a Snell until here, and it makes perfect sense! Thanks!

I am new to catfishing and struggled to tie this knot. The way you tie this just works so much easier with my hands and I ended up with a knot I was super happy with! This video alone made me subscribe thank you!

In England, instead of tying your safety knot, just blob it with a lighter, it’ll never come undone. Good video brother.

Fishing line ,monofilament should never use a flame , it breaks down and weakens the whole line as the heat dissipates down the line, your eye might not see it ,but it weakens it. Hell the sunlight / heat over time weakens fishing line

Finally a video with good camera angles, clear images of the line and hook, and a contrasting background so I can see exactly how it’s done.
Tried this knot this morning on a 6/0 circle hook for surf fishing on the NJ shore. Perfect knot! Landed a nice Tautog as well.

Great video and thanks for posting.
Here's hint for those who want you use the safety knot. I find it easier to tie the safety knot after I put the line through through eye and before I tie the snell knot.
I do this for 2 reasons.
    1) it makes the tag end easier to hold on to when tightening by gripping the safety know with my thumbnail
    2) I don't have to fiddle around tying to tie the safety knot as close as possible to the snell because its already there. I use this method more on light line than heavy line.
    Hope it helps.

When tying any knot with braided line, the safety overhand knot on the tag end is a good idea. With any type of knot, make sure you pull the tag end tight after cinching down the main knot and then clip off the tag end. I fish the Great Lakes and whenever I'm using braid (30 lb., 8lb. diameter), especially on a heavy pulling device, such as a Dipsey Diver, take the little extra time and make it slip proof.

Straigt forward, good and simple video buddy, will try this knot for my hair rigs since it leaves a very similar "hair" on the back or front of the hook deepending on wich way you start it from if you dont trim it down fully, If it works well I will start implement this knot on my hair rigs from now on becuz it was way way easier to both tie and remember then the ones I been using so far. But no matter If it works good for hair rigs or not its still a great knot and video, Thank you and greetings from Sweden !
