Thanks for the video! I was getting 90-91C constantly in Battlefield 2042 on stock settings with the thermalight peerless assassin 120 SE. After applying these settings I never go above 76C. So glad I could do it from the BIOS. MSI is awesome for this update.
Thanks for the video! I used to do a minus 0.05v core voltage offset and limit PPT to 100W on the older bios without the curve optimiser. Now with the new Bios we finally get the PBO curve optimiser offset control.
Was having the hardest time finding these settings and this was the only video I found for it so thank you. Was hitting temp limits way to quick on some games and now it’s as smooth as warm butter.

i was getting 90C on Cinebench 23 but with this undervolt it is now 80c max, it was reaching 80c max on games and now is constantly between 60c and 68c hardly reaching 70c i live in a warm city 32c is the average temperatura on here, u made my life better with some heat off and also noise is lower than ever, thanks sir.
I just got my 5800x3d and applied the most recent of updates but not with a msi and on CinebenchR23 I was only getting boost to 4300ish then I applied a minus 30 on the optimized Curve and now its boosting to that 4450 mark and the temps seemd to have drop a little bit. I havent run A64 on it nor plan to but the optimized Curve seems to have made a small but good difference in boosted clocks.
@@tisikygaming I was doing some comparisons score wise and last night leaving Load Calibration on auto seemed best with just the minus 30. It was about a 5ish % increase in the score for R23 with the latest bios for my gigabyte + minus 30 curve. Not entirely sure if I should try voltage limits to get anything more out of the cpu. Its a pretty good score at 15.1k but with everything turned off on the desktop other than monitoring software and r23
@@deadpool790R23 is just a simple benchmark. I wouldn’t worry trying to get maximum score unless you are looking to get more points on benchmark leagues. If that was the case, you’d be looking at more serious hardware than the typical user anyway (LN2 cooling etc).
Thanks for the video last week my 5800x3D starting over heating, paste dried up. But I had in on Artic Freezer II 240 AIO your setting gave me the best Cinebench R15 score I've ever had and helped keep it cooler. Stress testing proved that. But it is worth nothing even though Artic Freezer II 240 AIO is a decent cooler like many 360's it is not upto the job with a 58003D. I will be upgrading cooler to a Artic Freezer II 280.
@@Harrison.DuRant 0.5Ghz at full load? Sounds like an issue with the chip or the motherboard/PSU if it did that. Also these settings arent confirmed for the 7800X3D, just the 5800X3D as the two chips are masssively different given the 7800X3D allows more voltage control IIRC.
The key is the parameter of ppt EPT ppb the first parameter this limit the cpu power package if you don't touch this parameters and don't do a manual undervolting the cpu burn like hell
Are you using Kombo Strike together? realize that when I use PPT 100 I lose a lot of score because the clock drops to R23, releasing it to auto is around 127w so that the cpu at 80 degrees
Cinebench peak temps down from 87c to 71c! Youre a life saver man. In terms of stability do you think its neccesary to run any stress tests or should we just see how regular use goes?
Yes I would say its always worthwhile to do some stress testing. I personally run folding@home for anything up to 24hrs (good for scientific research too!), or you can do some cpu tests on OCCT along with some heavy gaming.

No, dont use Kombo Strike. Just use the settings in this video. You want cstates and cppc enabled, but preferred cores disabled. BAR resize is a function for certain Nvidia GPUs and should be enabled, assuming you are using a PCIE4 slot motherboard too.
@@Jbpennesthis probably occurred because your cpu wasn’t stable with the PBO2 values. If your cpu is stable with Kombo strike 3, then it means you can use PBO2/CO and set it to minus 30 for all cores. Then you can skip the PPT values.
I was applying these settings through the “motherboard settings” in bios but when I tried to save and reboot it doesn’t show the settings I applied instead it’s says no changes were made but if I apply these settings through the “overclocking settings” icon in the bios and went to save and reboot it shows the changes I made? Is there a difference? And if there which one is better to stick with?
Hey, sorry my mistake. Technically the PBO2 settings are motherboard, but I just rebooted and checked and confirmed my PBO2/CO settings are applied from the motherboard settings and they are working. I set them in the overclocking tab too, so ive set it going in both. Working fine. So go with whichever setting tab will make it shows settings applied.

The Arctic Freezer 34 duo esports is an air cooler, not an AIO water cooler. That being said, it is still a good enough cpu cooler for the 5800X3D with PBO2 yes.
It happens due to the physical layout of the CPU die unfortunately. Are you sure your board doesnt support PBO2/CO? There's a new bios out 12th June 2023 might be worth flashing that to see if it offers the features? I just had a look at another YT video and there is an option under "extreme tweaker" that is called precision boost overdrive, does your board not show this?

@@partshopmax it’s not being given enough power then or it’s thermally limited. It can also depend on the game. In rocket league it barely used any cpu so mine boosts to maximum there. On multi core gaming needs it won’t boost to maximum.
Nope. Doesn’t matter what cooling your using. If you don’t adjust the voltage settings on the 5800x3d it will more than likely suffer high temps. It’s the way the chip is made.
yea I agree with tiskeygaming, I'm also running my 5800x3d on a custom water-cooled loop with dual radiators. Before this bios, and at stock settings the cpu temps will spike to 90+ C.
What is your setup? What CPU cooler? What thermal paste? What case/fans? Are you sure its running at lower voltage during stress test? It should be running under 1.20v during stress test if you applied the undervolt correctly. If the undervolt is applied correctly, and you still see 90c then the issue if with your setup. Either bad contact between cpu and cpu cooler, or poor airflow in the case.
@@tisikygaming i tried 2 cpu coolers my first was air cooler 140mm 2 fans (as500plus) and i changed it to liquid cooler called (ls520se) 240mm i have 3 intake fans cf120 and 2 exh and im sure from the mounting cuz i did it twice also the fans of the cpu coolers and the pump always on 100% and still im sure the fans is spining and my thermal paste is thermal grizzly and the case name mb530p and im sure from the airflow i even tried to remove the front cover from the case and i did exactly what u did in the video and still i ordered 240mm arctic freezer 2
Yes it does, since we are now controlling the maximum voltage available for the CPU. This is however only up to a certain point, if after using PBO2/CO you still get big spikes you might need to consider re doing the thermal paste or get a better cpu cooler.
No, the lower the better since it will result in lower power draw and lower temps, but if you go too low the CPU wont be stable or wont boost as high as it should do.

Well it depends what settings your using. If you have set the PBO2/CO settings correctly, your cpu should boost to 4.4-4.45ghz in CB R32, if its not thermal limited.
The thing is it looks great in cinebench but does nothing for gaming. Even in a cpu intensive game like WZ, temps with an AIO or decent tower cooler rarely go over 60c so there’s no chance of thermal throttling and it boosts to 4550 all day. Sure the cinebench thing is fun and I played around with it but unless you’re into synthetic benching or you’re on a stock cooler maybe then it’s kinda useless.
I wouldnt consider less power draw, lower thermals and longer lifespan useless. On the flip side, the opposite to these benefits is "useless" in my opinion if you are getting the same core frequency. At stock vcore your cpu will probably use 50% more power, and will more than likely not boost as high during gaming. With my settings, my cpu always boosts to 4.45ghz in gaming, and temps rarely go over 55c.

Theres zero chance of thermal throttling in gaming. with a decent cooler(360mm) mine sits 58-60c on a hot day and i live in the tropics. ive seen 2 cores hit 4.55 and the only thing ive done is turn off cool and quiet. the fact you said probably and more than likely means you dont really know. reset your settings to stock play a game and tell me the difference. For reference 1440p 3070ti corsair 4000d airflow 6 fans 360 mm aio.

Entirely possible on B450 so long as the motherboard bios supports it. Only major differences B450 vs B550 is PCIE4 for the GPU and M.2 slot.

You’re welcome 🙏 but I don’t think switching from a 240mm rad to a 280mm rad will make much difference.

Maybe it’s unstable? You obviously have to run your own stress testing when adjusting these sort of settings.
Mine did the same. Tried this on a 7800X3D and it went down to .5 GHz.

What's yr cpu temp when u play BF 2042 ? Mine go 65-70.
Usually hovers around 55-60C. Ambient temp isnt helping at all (currently 29C ambient!)

I'm still having same overheating problems with it 90c on the first 1m in ada 64 could it be a bad cpu cause I've tried it on different pc and coolers

Yes you can set PBO limits manually. But you wouldn’t want to. The limits in the video are more than enough to let the 5800x3d run at a decent speed!
I think tech demos and reviews suit you a lot better than the gaming content.

Asus Strix x570-f. My 5800x3d 1.12v boost to 4250 in cinebench and only 12k score... WHY ... when he have stock vcore and trottling i have 14k? :/

@@tisikygaming Tnx mate. Yeah I don’t play cinebench. Its great you’ll like it but it’s not for me sorry. It must be annoying having to reduce core voltage to keep your chip from down clocking, especially with a custom loop to only gain 5c?! I play games so it makes no difference to me☺️
@@qubes8728 Nah its not annoying when you know what your doing, and only takes a minute in bios to set it and forget it. The only time I go into bios is to take screenshots for videos like these :D
