    hi everyone!
    I'm getting a lot of question about setting up other parameters. Here's an example on how to do it:
    -30 -30 -30 -30 -30 -30 -30 -30 120 75 110 0
    120 is the PPT
    75 is the TDC
    110 EDC
    0 means no change for the rest of parameters.
    Set the values to your preference - this is just an example

    Did not work for me at first. Apparently when you have "fast boot" enabled in BIOS the system doesn't shut down completely, so no cold boot and it won't trigger. What worked for me was setting the trigger to "At log on" instead of "At start up"
    ...maybe that helps someone who's struggling with this.

  • @jonathanparle8429

    I would caution people against doing this. If every AMD Ryzen CPU out there really could 100% reliably undervolt to such a large extent (and minus 30 is actually quite significant), AMD would simply have made their CPUs faster to begin with. Afterall, everyone seems to have bagged a magical silicon-lottery-winning CPU if you go by the internet and this simply is not true. I have four 3rd generation Ryzen CPUs and all four of them can effortlessly run flat out for days on end with a minus 30 curve optimiser setting. But all four will also be unstable in lighter workloads resulting in random freezing specifically when in a split second the CPU goes from a sustained high or medium workload to a light workload. I do not think I have lucked out in the silicon lottery four times over. More likely the difference is that I thoroughly tested them for stability at light workloads after undervolting rather than concentrating on how they function when running flat out.
    So the reason I caution is because these CPUs will almost certainly become unstable lower down in the voltage frequency curve since the only thing this curve optimiser does is move every voltage / frequency datapoint to the left on the x (voltage) axis. It does not come up with a stable combination for every datapoint unlike something like ASUS's OC Sanner for their GPUs which does. Instead, it only does so when the CPU is working flat out. There is no free lunch.
    This low frequency undervolting will result in system freezes and other issues when the CPU goes from a heavy load to almost idle or at least a significantly lighter load. A good way to test for stability is to run the Guardian of Time benchmark for Serious Sam Fusion. When you get to the cut scene around 70 minutes into it where the computer goes from full on CPU/GPU real time rendering to basically a very low load pre-rendered cutscene, it will freeze if your undervolt is excessive You have to keep reducing the negative voltage offset until the computer no longer freezes at this point and successfully manages 10 consecutive passes of this. So yes, this exercise will take most of a weekend. Though be warned, you might be extremely disappointed to find that minus 30 undervolt of yours ends up being something less than minus 10 and probably more around the minus 3 to minus 8 mark. If it is too good to be true then it usually is and this curve optimisation undervolting is one of those examples where it is indeed too good to be true, except in highly exceptional and extremely rare cases. Use with extreme conservatism!

I don't know why but with pbo my cpu remains constantly on 4450mhz also the temperature slightly lower as well as the consumption. For average user bios might be the right solution, but for cherry picker like pbo tuner combined with task scheduler is the way to go.

    Coming from overclocking in extremes in the 90s-2000s to undervolting them out of the box seems so backwards as fuck for me. Detuning it or undervolting it for not even 10c temperature and a barely noticable clock speed doesn't seem worth while when you can just make custom fan curves and simply turning the fans up negates more then the undervolt. I might of got lucky with the silicon lottery but I havent undervolted and I never see temps over 75c in gaming and real world stressful environments.

    • @leizerg
      @leizerg  9 месяцев назад +1

      All depends on what you have, for SFF builds (like mine) it really does help. Plus you dont lose anything from UV, no performance loss and better temps, meaning you can run your PC quieter. But, 75c is pretty great so no need to bother imo :)

    • @esaedvik
      @esaedvik 9 месяцев назад

      Anything AMD nowadays is worth trying to undervolt for a bit of extra clock speeds and less heat. Nothing backwards about it, apart from AMD not doing so at the factory tbh, but that's what it means to be an enthusiast, you test the limits. -20C temp drop some get isn't insignificant. Just optimization.
