    I had to look at the previous video to see how that happened because i have used this prod in both of my cars and my clients too and never had this issue. So i spotted diferent factors that trigered that reaction to the plastic.
    1. You certainly used degreaser and dawn as the instructions say but you never washed it off, just rinsed it.
    2. You mixed it up with water because you did not took the time to dry it properly. Product states that surface must be clean and dry.
    Also pad is soaked, drenched, in product but it doesnt mean it will cover 4-6 different plastics, specially not with the size of those fenders.

    I used dawn dish soap with a brush, then washed again with a terry cloth towel and dawn. I finished up by wiping it all with denatured alcohol and then applying cerakote to a completely dry surface. I don't have a jeep but I like the product on my car.

    Gonna dog pile here: those streaks came from one of 2 sources: water and/or dirt. The ONLY way to clean plastic is Dawn. Scrubbed! Then fully dry before applying. Use a light to catch all the high spots. This video is clearly a result of poor prep work.

    • @kolourblind3124
      @kolourblind3124 2 года назад +2

      Just seeing the results it’s apparent that the prep work was off, the application pad was filthy and the only reason the mirrors and handles came out ok is because they are not as porous as the flares, they need a deep scrub and proper dry before applying

    I've used it on a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 without even properly prepping the surface and it still came out looking brand new. It's been about 5-6 months and it still looks fantastic! Maybe Jeep has a different type of plastic?

  • @joed1244

    I love the stuff. You don't want to over wipe this product. If it gets tacky and you wipe again..you'll get streaks. Give it a good wet coat and leave it alone. Again, if it gets tacky..don't touch it. The work time is over.

  • @johnnyg8206
    @johnnyg8206 2 года назад +6

    I watched your application video and discovered that the root cause was the improper preparation. As directed, the panels must be cleaned with dish washing soap or other chemicals to remove dirt and oil before the application. In your video, the wipes looked almost black after application which indicates that the panels have not been cleaned.

    I had the same problem and prep work isn’t the issue. I used APC, and then dawn like suggested. I let it dry for hours unmoved. I used almost all of the packets on first application, applying it thick. It doesn’t soak in completely and evenly so in some places it actually sealed in the faded grey under the coating. Looks horrible. Cerakote told me there is no way to remove it. I regret using this stuff.

    I did my entire Honda Ridgeline trim with about 6 pads. It turned out great, repels water really well, and still looks good. You have a lot of plastic on that jeep. Just from my own personal experience, it looks like you might not have used enough, and let the pads dry out, and before getting a fresh one, and finishing each section. Maybe you should reach out to the company, they may be able to help you out. This is the first negative review Ive seen of this product.

    Use a heat gun and penetrol. Just get the plastic hot. It doesn’t need to be super hot and then apply uneven coat of penetrol Let it dry for about 12 hours. It will look brand new for a long time. You can also heat the plastic with the heat gun keep the heat gun moving he will start to see the plastic turning black again once you complete the job, put a coat of clear motor oil over it while it is still hot. Be careful to protect the paint while using the heat gun.

    Isnt this the guy who knocked the shit of a product called plasti dip

  • @mikesmallwood8299

    All those cleaners are garbage when it comes to removing the plastic restorers. The only way to remove the plastic restorers is with vegetable oil and acetone mix with a plastic bristle brush then washing it off with dish soap or liquid laundry detergent. The acetone breaks down the former chemical restorers and they're suspended in the vegetable oil long enough so they can be mixed with liquid soap and rinsed away with water.
    All that said, Cerakote, due to it's poor applicator cloths, is incapable of providing a streak free coating over large textured plastics. They need to use a microfiber cloth and have some sort of solvent spritz to spray on the coating while spreading it with a micro fiber cloth.
    But the streaking you have, is due to not removing the former restorers that are embedded down in the low regions of the textured plastic, they're still there causing the light gray coloration... That requires a vegetable oil suspension with acetone to pull them up and out and the vegetable oil keeps them suspended and emulsified even after the acetone evaporates. Need both mixed to get the restorers to loosen and then remove the restorers, use the liquid soaps to cut the dirty vegetable oil and remove it from the surface via water.

    You definitely used it wrong or something....I have been using this and this product is way better than anything else on the market....if used as directed...

    One would have to think that you didn't follow directions or take the advice of those Cerakote users like me who have had great results with that product. But may someone suggest Another possibility for your failure ? Look at what you are attempting to 'restore'; the obviously DEFECTIVE plastic on THE Worst brand of American assembled automobile--Jeep--. they have the reputation of being mechanically THE Biggest Pile o' Junk on the road....so just how good should anyone expect their non-metallic trim parts to be ? Try that coating on a vehicle of Quality, not junk.....
