    ***ANNOUNCEMENT***
    Yes this video has no pictures or on-screen elements. Spending time with friends & family during the holidays is more important to me than editing a youtube video to add pictures. If that bothers you I don't really care. There are review links in the description for every product of the year mentioned if you want to know more about any of these products, and always remember: If anything I've said offends you please know from the bottom of my heart, I don't care.

      Hi John, thank you bro. Small channels like mine don't get too many review samples and opperate at a loss. This year I reviewed some expensive gear like Kanta No1, Special 40, and JL Audio E110 all of which I paid for with my own money. It's a little bit difficult to justify too many big purchases just for the purpose of making a video. About half of what you see are products I buy with my own money. For example I have reviewed Focal Chora, Aria, and Kanta all with my own money, I asked them for a Sopra 1 sample and they didn't even reply to my email. This is very common so higher end gear generally won't be seen on a channel this small :(.

    Loved the video as always- in terms of ~2000+ subs what is the biggest thing that would have you choose between the JL E and the Kef kf92? Maybe room size or wanting more extension versus more overall output? Seems like even in a smallish room you prefer the JL audio all around or am I wrong?

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Год назад +1

      No, JL Audio makes an amazing subwoofer capable of substantial output & extension in a compact for factor and I happily recommend them to a lot of people but the sound is far too aggressive & heavy for my personal taste. As far as KF92 it's all about extension in a compact enclosure, maney people have gotten the KF92 flat down to 11hz in room which is incredible. Both are very good solutions but if you need maximum output the JL does that, it doesn't extend as low as the KEF but still has very respectable extension and the KEF trades some max output for extension.

    The 3 small speakers that you mention that I have heard - the SS-CS5, BS41, and B1+ - and I generally agree with you on their relative qualities. My personal opinions are that while the Sony is "clear", it is too bright for me, and it has a pretty major issue of the tweeter plate resonating at higher volumes and/or with some recordings.
    I agree the BS41 is differently flawed, and its bass bump is not great, I find that better to live with than the Sony's "shrillness". The main flaw for me of the BS41 is a "fuzziness" at higher volumes and on some recordings. This is from an interaction between crossover components, as it turns out.
    The B1+ is much better, in its stock form than either of the other two. The B1+ is "less" flawed, for sure - though it too has some cabinet resonances (between 1kHz and a bit above 2kHz). And the treble has a *touch* of peakiness, for me; but to a much lesser extent than the Sony.
    I like the tonal balance of the B1+ best, followed by the BS41; and the relative lack of bass extension of the Sony holds it back, for me.
    I have modded all 3, and after this, the BS41 *leaps* to the top - it also happens to be the easiest and cheapest to mod. The transformation is as great as I could have imagined. It has in-room bass essentially flat to ~42Hz, and clarity, soundstage - and fabulously smooth and even response is as good as I have ever seen. The *design* of the crossover is impressive - it just has a major faux pas in the way it is manufactured. Smoothing/extending the bass is pretty easy, as well.
    The Sony after modification is also very, very good. But it took a *complete* crossover redesign/rebuild, and somewhat tricky tweeter brace.
    The B1+ after modding is also very, very good - it just isn't "transformational" because it starts in a better place. It falls in between the simplest (BS41) and hardest (Sony).
    After modding, it comes down to bass extension for me; so w/o a sub, the BS41 is my preference, followed by the B1+, and then the SS-CS5.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Год назад +1

      oh yeah, cheap speakers are all going to struggle if you push them. With the Sony I have heard people describe them as shrill and I almost wonder if there is a variance in manfucaturing or different versions perhaps.

    • @NeilBlanchard
      @NeilBlanchard Год назад

      @@NemoPropaganda Right - the recording is going to matter, as well. But the (ABS?) plastic tweeter plate is *never* going to be as good as the MDF panels. The Sony actually has decent corner gussets and doubling plates on the larger panels.

    I have the Rel TZero sub in a near field desktop system, it's a good fit with small speakers, especially if you want or need to high pass them. I also have the original Rel HT1003 sub, it was about $50 more than the TZero when I bought it for use in my living room, it is a much better fit than the TZero for that use case, even if it would be used exclusively for music.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  Год назад

      From the discord thread, and this is everything I have to say about this comparison: Predator 1510 vs Rythmik E15hp2: I think it's important to keep in mind Rythmik is only available in a few countries while REL is available globally so if Rythmik is not available in your region just buy the 1510. The E15hp2 has a few options including a painted finish and has a narrower look while the 1510 comes in vinyl (with a painted top) and is much wider but looks much shorter in the room. As far as bass quantity these are both bigger subs and both capable of tremendous output however the Rythmik does extend a few hertz lower. As far as sound goes the Rythmik is the classic SQ subwoofer with audiophile bass that comes from an ink black background, bass that never draws attention to itself, and excellent handling of delicate passages. Rythmik is a great example of how going manufacturer direct can get you more bang for your buck (for US customers at least). The 1510 is also very capable of many of these SQ characteristics with the primary difference being a tone that is a touch heavier than the Rythmik. The 1510 doesn't draw attention to itself but it's bass is heavier handed (kind of like JL though nowhere near as heavy handed) and your attention may be drawn to the bass region of the movie or music in a way that makes you go "holy shit". Both subwoofers blend seamlessly and integrate perfectly. In short the E15hp2 is SQ 100% while the Predator 1510 is 95% SQ with 5% of that SPL style heaviness. For context if JL Audio is a 10 on a 1-10 scale of SPL heaviness and Rythmik is 1 out of 10 on that scale of SPL heaviness the Predator 1510 is like 3 out of 10 for SPL heaviness. Personal taste will be a big factor here. Both subwoofers are non-DSP purist pieces so no surprise I love the hell out of both of them.

      @dmitris77 Год назад

      @@NemoPropaganda Wow. Thanks so much! That is a perfect way to explain it. From the sound of it, I think I’d prefer a little dash of spl that the 1510 gives you… Seems like the perfect combination

I’ve got an older sb13 ultra and hasn’t really done it for me as far as impact. Would you go with the 12 or 15 ported Rythmik? 12x16x9 room but has a 10 foot opening into a large living room.
    Also do you prefer to run your preamp into the line in on the sub, then line out to the amp or do you just use the sub pre out on the preamp/amp?

    The E15HP2 review sealed the deal for me and I ended up getting duals right after. Super happy with them and may end up getting 2 more to even out the room modes. I seriously considered getting dual G25HPs, but they are too big for me and I wasn’t a big fan of the amp placement. I don’t actually know how good the E15HP2s are because they’re my first real subs, but they blended super easy with my bookshelf speakers and the transition sounds seamless to me. I got them in piano black and I consider them one of the best looking subs on the market and I consider myself very OCD on aesthetics. If I don’t like how something looks I won’t get it and these were 10/10 to me personally. Thanks for such insightful reviews Nemo!

    Hi (from the UK!), thanks for your brilliant reviews and keep up the great work! Just so you know my scenario (very relevant to my query below!) unfortunately I had a MX (Motocross) accident many years ago which left me a Tetraplegia C4/5 (paralysed from my chest down - I have a 'little' arm movement, have to use wrist splints on my hands to keep them horizontal and a finger splint on each middle finger with rubber thimbles on the ends to enable use of keyboard/keypad 'phone etc and courtesy of an ongoing - 5 + years now - pressure area problem I have a very limited time up in my 'chair, currently 4 & 1/2 hours which = 19 & 1/2 hours a day in my bedroom!, 7 to 10 of which are spent listening to music!). As you can hopefully appreciate/understand, my HiFi/Music is literally my everything and main thing in my life; I do not think I would cope without it etc! I have a wide range of music (mostly CD's ripped directly into my Naim HDX - 'some' via Bandcamp Wav files burned to CD, then ripped), from AC/DC to ZZ Top, Anthrax to Voivod, a lot of Contemporary/Technical Prog’ Rock/Metal, a ‘bit’ of traditional Prog’, but I also like a lot of many other genre's from Beth Hart to Tracy Chapmen, Kate Bush, some Blues, some (mostly) lighter Jazz, Melanie De Biasio, Patricia Barber etc, Electronica such as Moby, Yello, 'Cyber Punk' etc and many more!
    I know you've reviewed them before and the 1 mentioned here etc, I 'think' I've narrowed it down to these 2, but can I ask in your experieced/valued opinion of which would be the best of these 2 Sub's in a higher end system using Kef Reference 1's (not the recent Meta's - and wanting to use their wireless options): Kef KF92, or the REL S/510? Many are for/say the Kef, many are for/say the Rel... Please take into account although it will be potentially used a little for movies, my main priority (90%) is for music use in my 2 channel stereo HiFi system (as listed below for your reference for potentially more accuracy). Have a great Christmas & ALL the best for the New Year! and I look forward to your 2023 reviews! Simon.
    My system (taken me approx' 30yrs to get to via buying/selling, deals & demo's etc!):
    Naim HDX (2TB - This is truly SO good for me because I cannot physically use a standard remote control, but with environmental controls I can use it in virtually the same way; When I had it in 2013, it was the first time since 1989 that I could interact (myself) with my entire CD collection!).
    Naim XPS Power supply.
    Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 800 Amplifier (Tuned further by John Sampson - HIGHLY recommended, from an already great Amp’ to a superb Amp’ IMO!)... those three components are plugged into a Russ Andrews X4 Block (which was a very audible improvement) each using an Atlas EOS 4DD UK Mains Power Cable.
    Kef Reference 1 'speakers (Foundry Edition).

      Hi Simon, thank you for sharing that. I relate on a much smaller level, I had a pretty bad back injury awhile ago and music was one of the only things I could enjoy, I still have the injury but doing its much improved and I'm doing physical therapy now. As far as your question I have not heard the S510 so I can't really comment on that. I love the KF92 as a compact solution, mixed system, etc... But I don't think it's at home in a 90% or higher music only system. It's amazing extension in a compact enclosure is what makes it so special and music rarely goes much lower than 30hz. Of course some music certainly does go lower but its not very common. A user in my free discord has the tower version of your speakers and he went with a single T9X and absolutely loved it. Since I have not heard the S510 I can't speak on it but perhaps you can email REL (include your phone number) and have a chat with them about how S510 is different from T9X. There are also users in my free discord that own KF92 and S510 if you want to hop in there and get some feedback from owners, theres a section for Purchase Advice: discord.gg/nemopropaganda

    I would suggest you try a power supply upgrade for the Node 2i that I *love* - a power supply interface board from PD Creative in Poland. This replaces the internal 5V switch mode PS, and gives you filtering / regulation for an external 5V power supply. This cost me $107 total - exchange rate, shipping, and tax.
    I got a 5V 50W LPS that also has a 12V 50W output that I am using for my Geshelli J2 AKM DAC. The unit I got cost $210 total, and is very solid.
    Upgrading their power supplies (both the Node 2i and J2 AKM) each made an enormous improvement - soundstage, dynamics, instrument separation, bass control, etc.

    I have a pair of Klipsch La Scala II that are used in a 18 x 18 with 12 foot ceiling. This is a purely music listening room. I am looking at adding a pair of subs to these speakers and I am considering the G22 as Klipsch new Jubilee is using two 12 in woofers instead of the single 15 that is in the La Scala and Khorn. What a great review! I've been thinking of a great dual subwoofer setup. I've had my eye on a pair of the SVS Sb-3000s. But stumbled on to Rythmik. Your review made me lol 🤣. Thinking now of doing dual subs with the E15hp2. Plus the form factor is still pretty good. Thank You.
