I have been converted to Rythmik. Just bought dual F18s and the quality of bass is just mind blowing. Anyone in the fence about them because you don't hear much about this brand; dont be. They will change the way you hear music and movies.
@@jamesstandard3516 incorrect. For shitty sealed you have to crank it. These you don't. Yeah, you have to turn them up a little higher than a ported but you're getting a lot tighter bass from sealed
Another awesome & thorough review man!! We absolutely love a musical-sounding subwoofer (and that's what drew us into the Bravus 12D for instance!). Rythmik definitely did something right with all of their direct servo-driven subs, that thing looks like a beast! Keep up the great work as always 😀
Really? I've only heard the Bravus 8/10 models and found them to be killer for their size/looks in a theater setting but only just "okay" for music only. But I guess if you match them with speakers that use heavy drivers & voice coils then it would actually be a pretty decent match. They just couldn't keep up with lighter speakers like Focal.
@@NemoPropaganda Yeah, we think it's a great sub for Home Theater use absolutely - and although it's obviously not as fast as a sealed sub would be, for the specific genres/types of music we listen to, we thought it sounded really good!
Just checked out your video on the 12D, awesome. I used to own a pair of Speedwoofers so I found it helpful that the 12D was a step above for sound quality. I have a pair of V6T towers so I'd love to try out the 12D one day. If you get a chance to compare them to the REL HT-1205 I'd love to hear it.
Nemo.... Love your very thorough reviews. I have been in the market for a new two channel home theater subwoofer for duo purpose use,and after watching this review I've made up my mind. Thanks bro keep doing what you do.
Buddy, I didn’t even think about the servo with a ported sub because I’ve just given up on them. But you’ve really opened my eyes on this. Thanks man! Seems like 1 is all you need too!
Subbed for sure. Finally a reviewer who was able to review rythmik! I've been talking about them for years on RUclips to different reviewers and comment sections and I think your the first. I was most interested in the lvx12. I will watch your video on the L12 and F12 to see what difference there is between to have an idea of any potential differences. Atleast the lvx12 has the same amp, not the same as L12, so the driver is the only difference. I'm considering going diy now since buying 2 rythmik lvx 12s - $1700. I found a build for 2 ported 18s that fit in boxes disguised as end tables, with 900w per channel amp controlled with dsp for approx the same price as 1 lvx12. Just need to be able to fit in your space and system, but sounds ideal if you can. Meant for dual duty systems I would think
If you have the skills I'd say go for it, otherwise a pair of FVX12 is $1803 with the 5% dual sub discount. 18" is just way too big for me, even as an end table that's a big end table lol.
@@NemoPropaganda I have a large open floor plan, so lots of air to pressurize to get the low notes, probably not the best for dedicated listening rooms. I'll be sure to build a mock up out of cardboard first to see, but it's 21x26x31? Smaller than most people would thing for an 18. I seen the same build where they built the 2 boxes into the sides of their TV stand and it looked amazing. I always wanted to go rythmik, but once I decided I wanted dual ported subs, the price made me think twice. I'm from Canada, so the shipping, exchange, duty adds a lot.
Thanks for all your reviews. I like listening to music at medium levels and want to feel the bass from movies. Probably 60/40 HT to music. Based on your review of this I just ordered one and listed your channel as the “how did you hear about us” source. Thanks again!
Fucking great review yet again and you crack me up. I have a pair of FV15HPs that I’ve mentioned before. They are HUGE but they continue to blow me away.
i think you've helped Rythmik promote more in the last 3 months then they have since they started. Haha! Your reviews are truly valuable man. Helped me confirm my own purchase recently. (Rythmik F12). Cheers!
ooo congrats!! have you received it yet? The only sad part is I've reviewed about all the ones that are reasonably sized so there are no more Rythmik subs left for me to review :( I suppose I could check out the sealed 15 at some point...
@@Venezuela305 2 12" driver has the same surface area of a single 17" driver so you will get more moving mass and double the motor force with the E22 along with a better voice coil to cone area ratio but the servo tech kind of makes it hard to interpret how much of a difference any of that will really make. I would decide based on the dimensions and visual aesthetic since they cost & weigh the same and based on my experience with Rythmik so far they are all excellent. One thing the E22 should have more of is sense of scale but I'm totally just guessing here based on my L12 vs L22 experience.
@@NemoPropaganda I asked Brian at Rythmik a similar question, and he said: "...E22 is faster and F15HP is more authoritative..." This response threw me off. Even their site claims the E22 has more output than the F15HP. I wonder if it has to do with the power difference. Their claims leans towards E15HP2, but my gut says E22. I absolutely loved the REL 1205. I tested it for 30 days. I never got closed to maxing it. If only would dig a little lower it would be perfect., hence de idea of E22 was born.
@@Venezuela305 I could see that actually, not to get too complicated but the 15" driver likely has a lower Fs (resonant frequency) so at the lowest octaves it could have an easier time reproducing something like 18hz so it would sound more authoritative and effortless in that region despite being 1db quieter than the E22. I think this is a situation where the two products will perform nearly identically to each other which is why I think it's best to make the purchasing decision more so on aesthetics, shape, etc... All rythmik subs have crazy low extension so I think you'll be super happy either way.
Niiiiiice!!! It's still one of my favorite subs, I still have my review sample here (I asked Rythmik if I can hold onto it longer) but when they do end up asking for it back I might buy myself a white one.
@@NemoPropaganda In India, we got them delivered in less time. There is enough stock recently as compared to the first one I bought. I had to wait for 2 months.
I have this same sub, and it’s great! Haven’t had a chance to dial it in yet, but it’s great out of he box! It is paired with a Focal Chora 5..2.1 system.
That is an excellent match! I have the Chora also, try setting it to 1p music & 24db slope at 60hz. You'll have to figure out gain/phase on your own though :D
Great review! If I had the space I would go with a pair of these for 2-channel. Guess I'll stick with my HT-1205 pair :) You've reviewed so many subs now... I think your world would be complete if you picked up a JL Audio E112.
I should have a T9x pair here in the next few weeks but t9x vs fvx12 has a huge difference in aesthetics and size that should be considered, I'm surprised you'd cross shop the two.
Wasn’t really cross shopping the two. I’ve had my sights on a Rel only for some time. But this review is making me wonder. I have the space for a big sub in a large basement room but don’t want anything sluggish or boomy. Recently sold a Hsu vtf-3 mk 4 that was nice but had to stopper both ports to be more enjoyable to my ears.
@@NemoPropaganda 14’ x 36’ x 7’h. Lots of length for bass waves to propagate. Thick bass traps in the corners of the front wall. Rarely have any boom problems though. The consensus seems to be Rel is the quickest and most musical and the best match for my Maggie LRS.
@@pkats9093 Both have excellent SQ, one gives you more SPL & Extension, the other gives you superior aesthetics, fit & finish. Choose the one you feel an affinity for, you can't go wrong either way. I would call each company though and make sure whatever you're getting is large enough for that room as you have a good amount of volume to fill.
Nemo, you are the sub woofer Emperor! Thanks for another great review. I remember when large sub enclosures where common like those of Velodyne and I can recall an 18" woofer behemoth from Definitive Technology back in the late 90's. Do you plan to review any sub woofers from speaker companies such as Wharfedale, Mission, PSB, etc.?
eh, speakers companies aren't that great at making subwoofers, a few can do it but the rest seem to be a poor value proposition. Like B&W makes a fantastic subwoofer but god damn $1500 and only 250w 10". I'm sure you'd rather have a REL T9x or Rythmik F12SE at that price no?
@@NemoPropaganda Good point on the the value proposition. I already own a Rel T9 but it's been dead since 2018 and I paid like $1.5K back around 2011. So I am no longer interested in the Rel's due to short life span. However, the Rythmik seems to be the best of both worlds (H.T & Music). Am looking forward to your review of the RSL speedwoofer :)
@@Audioloon have you reached out to them to see if they'll send you a new plate amplifier? Speedwoofer is good but it's no REL/Rythmik competitor, not even close. There is a big price disparity. Under $500 the speedwoofer is amazing but the $589 Rythmik L12 would take an easy win.
@@NemoPropaganda No, I did not reach out to Rel as it was out of warranty when it croaked. Never dawned on me to reach out to them anyway. Will give it a shot. Thanks for the heads up on the RSL. Appreciate what you do for us! Thank you.
The rel t5x is strictly a down firing 8" sub and is tonaly... boring! I had that for a weekend as I realized that and traded up for a t7x and fixed all of my issues with the t5x. The t7x is an 8" front firing with a 10" down firing passive radiator... much different technology and sound! Btw, for some good EDM... my personal favorite is Sasha, Airdrawndagger... check it out beginning to end, it never bores and is very dynamic with an expressive sound stage. My opinion, his best (next is Involver) and a pinnacle for other artists. Great job as always! Keep on keepin on!
Thanks Sean, yeah I've heard a few other guys mention that down firing subs weren't a good fit for their room. Down firing in my room sounds just as good as front firing so I guess I'm lucky. I've had the T5X, 9X, and now the 7X and while the 7x is a nice upgrade over the 5x I didn't have any issues with the down firing design but if someone can afford the 7x over 5 it's a worthy upgrade for sure! Thank you for the music recommendation, I'll check it out :).
@@NemoPropaganda absolutely! Enjoy! After you're done with Sasha and if you like it, try Trentemoller, The Last Resort album as it's another good one. Take care!
Just ordered these to help help out my Klipsch Heresy IVs. They begin to roll of at 100 Hz, so these should help. Prior to this, I tried two SVS 1000 Pros which did not blend well. They just did not sound good with my Klipsch Heresy IVs. Based on your review of the Ryhmik FVX12, I will try one of these. I want low bass and accuracy, a subwoofer that will blend well and support my IVs.
The shorter F12SE might look better better visually since the heresey iv are short but either is a stellar option that should satisfy exactly what you're looking for.
@@NemoPropaganda Yes, agree, but they were out when I looked. With that being said, I really do like very low bass as long as it is very well controlled and natural sounding as you mentioned in your review. So, I'm going with sound over looks. Again, thanks!
Just placed an order for the white FVX12 after your review, so thank you! I was tempted to get the SVS PB3000 but after your review, it seems like this is the best choice for me. I'm mostly after music but I dont like the sound of sealed subs. Currently my Polk HTS12 is a little boomy in my living room as its only partially furnished. So I play it at low volumes and it seems quite muddy then. I'm hoping the Rythmik will be a step up. I was edging towards the SVS because of the app and EQ but I figured I could always get a miniDSP to fine tune it and the direct servo sounds like the best way to go. I'll post back once I get it and have a chance to play around with it.
@@NemoPropaganda do you know how long it usually takes for them to deliver ? 1-2 weeks ? Do they make them when the order is placed or done they ship existing stock ?
@@dinosaurd7295 existing stock for sure bro. Mine came in like 4-5 days. They're in Texas which is centrally located so it should come fairly quick most likely via UPS.
Great video as always! Is the F12G ever a contender for review? I saw in the past you said you don’t have much interest in “exotic” subs, but there is one prebuilt by rythmik with the GR woofer, as I’m sure you’re well aware. There’s only 1 review video on that sub and it’s one of the diy versions, so there’s not a lot of secondhand info on that sub, in comparison to other brands or even other subs in the same brand. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the super-high crossover and detail/performance versus other rythmik subs.
I already reviewed the F12SE so I don't think I would also review the G model. Rythmik mid bass is among the best in the industry already but I think Rythmik themselves could probably tell you more on how it's different.
excellent choice! This is still one of my favorite subwoofers and still gets my highest recommendation. I believe this is one of the best vented subwoofers money can buy.
Love the channel and honest reviews. I have been trying to solve this subwoofer puzzle for quite some time, and going down a big rabbit hole. Would you recommend one FVX12 or two 1619 1v's, room is 20x24, only one open doorway, but I do have slanted ceilings that go from 8 ft up to 13ft in the middle. This will be for my HT setup, and maybe 10% music, but I have a separate setup for 2 channel vinyl listening. The one big caveat to this is the subwoofer(s) have to be white per the wife's decor in the family room. I am really torn on getting one FVX12, and then potentially adding another subwoofer down the road, or just grabbing 2 1619's. I am leaning towards the FVX12. Thanks for help!
Rythmik makes the finest ported subwoofer I have ever heard. I continue to use mine daily in a music only system for whatever thats worth. That's how darn accurate it is. Arendal is also a fantastic option though I have not heard their ported subwoofers, only sealed and I consider them an excellent alternative for regions where Rythmik is not available or for situations where you need a narrower front baffle.
I purchased this sub two months ago and agree with your review 100%. Did you play with the PEQ setting? I have not measured my room response so not sure what frequency I would need to even boost. Since I’m 50% HT/music and using an AVR I used the 80hz crossover point and decreased by -3db. I haven’t noticed much difference just curious your thoughts? Anyone considering this sub do not hesitate it is a winner. I will emphasize on point you mentioned which I love and the sub just disappears to the point You wonder if it’s working. Turn it off and you know it is. Of course that’s at lower listening levels. Crank the volume and you are rewarded with authority And slam but you’ll still wonder is it working. That’s because the bass truly sounds like it’s coming from your front stage. Amazing.
I'm sure it is albeit with a +$450 freight charge plus import taxes. Based on my experience shipping abroad (as I have clients in NZ) I'm guessing you'll have a landed cost under $2300nzd. I'd reach out to Rythmik to see if they can get you a quote, it shouldn't cost more than $500 in freight alone.
But it would be much cheaper (with respect to freight) to buy one of their sealed models like F12SE as the box is so much smaller shipping will be much less.
@@NemoPropaganda actually we talked before before you got your F12's, I was encouraging you to get a pair... because I had a pair and always thought they were great. I have/had a James Sub, a SVS PB13 Ultra, a REL S/812, a pair of Rythemik F12's and now a pair of Rythemik G22S's. I still have the James Sub in the tv room with a small Kin mini 5.1 surround system. But for my main stereo/home theatre system I now have the pair of Rythemik G22's. (Think 2 dual opposing F12's) For the large space they are in and they are ridiculously great for stereo and great for articulated bass for movies. Saying that I kept my single SVS 13 PBUltra for the theatre experience (body pounding bass addition), but the pair of Rythmik G22's as well crossed over properly with my front left and right Focal Sopra 3's and placed in dual mode for LFE movie watching. My F12s were fantastic but a little shy of filling up the room, and my single REL s812 was fantastic but holy underpowered for the room. To be fair the Rythmik's place the much hyped REL into second place. The REL was more dynamic but it failed to integrate as well but was just as tonally accurate. (In my opinion as good as it is it costs too much for its performance... My wallet was bigger than my research that day) The Rythemik G22's are a huge step up for music from the F12'S and the REL S812... those dual opposing drivers are incredible.
@@mesonto Oh man I'm jealous! The G22 look awesome, they're just too heavy for me to play with and might be too much for my room. I stopped using the F12 pair as 2 in my small room was overkill so each sub was barely running off maybe a few watts and not really hitting it's stride. Switching to just 1 and making it work a little harder sounded way better. I think my room is best for 2 small subs or 1 bigger one but I can't have 2 12" subs in here, they just wont hit their sweet spot.
Hello again from Nigeria. Your reviews feels like watching the legendary David Attenborough talk about wildlife.... Great! Please I'd like to ask you something straight: please which one subwoofer comes pretty close in solving all your subwoofer needs? I'll Follow your response and decide for myself.
Hey brother, oh man, that is a really difficult question to answer because aesthetics is so important to me. My favorites right now are the REL T5X pair, Rythmik F12SE or FVX12, and the KEF KC62. I have a pair of REL T9x coming, maybe those would be my "perfect" subwoofers :D
Your reviews are good but few things can be improved. One is you show the sub from all angles. Next is measure and share the results since ur review is after listening to them in your set up.
Thank you for the feedback but I just do this for fun :). This review channel is my hobby, not a business but I did start showing more angles in the most recent Emotiva RS11 video, you might find that more to your liking.
Both sound excellent, midbass is better on the FVX12 at any volume. Low end extension at very low volumes was very similar but the larger FVX12 had a sense of scale the tiny KC62 just can't match, even at lower volumes.
Thanks for the review, you've sold me on Rythmik over the SVS SB3000. I am torn on the specific model though and wonder if you would humor me and give your thoughts on the FVX12 vs FVX15 vs F15HP. I know there's a significant price difference between the 12 and 15 inch models but I'm trying to decide if the advantages are worth it to me. Size doesn't matter to me.
Hey Daniel, so I would definitely ask Rythmik their opinion on that but my opinion is this: It's good that size doesn't matter for you but at the same time contrary to the common saying of bigger is better, having too much headroom (big powerful sub) and not using it is not good either because the operation point will be below the optimal linear range. It's almost like having a Ferrari and not going over 3500rpm, the valves will get dirty because the car needs to be driven hard, (to a point). Now if your room is larger and you're looking to create a reference theater experience the FVX15 may certainly be for you. Rythmik will be able to answer that question better than I can though :).
@@NemoPropaganda I really appreciate your input and I'll definitely reach out to Rythmik as well. I'm looking at it primarily for a 2 channel music set-up and it will be in a small room now but it would be nice to have some flexibility to move it to bigger room down the road. Any thoughts specifically about the F15HP vs FVX12? What kind of tradeoffs should I expect with a smaller driver and less power but being ported? Thanks again for your help, I'm amazed at how willing you are to reply to so many comments.
@@danielvogel7322 I havn't heard the F15 so I'd rather not guess and instead suggest asking Rythmik directly, they're really best qualified to answer that question. Anytime you're between two products made by the same brand I think it's best to ask the company directly. Us reviewers are better at helping people decide between different brands.
I haven't heard the monolith 12 but it's a PB2000 ripoff, the FVX12 would most likely be better than the monolith in every category. I kind of view monoprice the same way I view Hyundai but at least Hyundai isn't copying anyone else...
@@NemoPropaganda Really? Wow I have heard nothing but glowing reviews about monoprice subs. From AVS forums to even right here on youtube comparing head-to-head to svs.
@@Professor5180 most people don't have as many data points with respect to music as I do. This channel is for 2 ch music application. Most people singing high praise to the monolith are doing so with respect to its home theater performance. I'm not a HT guy, I'm a 2ch music guy and there is a huge difference in what I need from a subwoofer in a 2ch music system that 95% of large box ported subs simply can't do. Large box ported subs generally sacrifice everything to accomplish maximum low frequency extension and SPL as is required for HT. The FVX12 is an exception here, it's servo tech stops the trade off from happening and instead you get the best of both worlds. HT subs are like drag cars, they're 1 trick ponies while music subwoofers are more road race cars, they're still fast and can tear up a drag strip but they can do everything else the race track demands besides simply going straight as fast as possible.
Awesome review, now I’m contemplating on getting my first Rhythmic, preferably this one, maybe two of them. I know you owned the svs pc-2000 and that was a ported cylinder, how does it compared to that one? I’m coming from an hsu uls-mk2 15 sub which is awesome for a sealed sub just thinking this one might give even greater feel for home theater and keep on the same level on musicality as my 15. Thanks.
Rythmik ported subwoofers have sound quality that rivals and often beats most brands sealed models. FVX12 is one of my most used and loved subwoofers, my only complaint is it's not small and cute looking lol
Thanks for the reply, I’m almost certain that the fvx-12 will be my next sub upgrade maybe two depending on how open or big my next house is. I also have Polk r200s thanks to your review and others, they are amazing for the money and I almost went for the focal aria 906 but the price of the polks won.
@@roelcorral7720 Nice dude! I still have my R100, I can't bring myself to sell them even though I don't need them lol. They just sound so good for the money. I love them.
Now if only Rythmik would make a passive radiator version of this sub. I love the extension a passive radiator design can provide minus the size of a ported design that my listening room just can't accommodate. Two sealed F12SE it is.
Rythmik will make a passive radiator sub the same day REL adds a DSP to their subwoofers which would be never. For Rythmik to do a passive radiator the cabinet would still be large as it would only shrink by the amount of volume the port takes up if you expect it to have the same extension. But I'm also guessing it may not pair well with their servo tech and could potentially undo all the goodness the servo brings to the table.
Everything you described about how this sounds in 2ch is exactly what I look for. I currently have a speedwoofer 10s in my 15x20 size room and wondering if you've had a chance to hear the RSL and how it compares? However, the size specs of the FVX12 is unfortunately not going to fit my room. Which is the closest other sub comes even close to it with a much smaller footprint? The KC62?
I have an RSL Speedwoofer here and it's fantastic at its $400 asking price and possibly the best subwoofer under $500 but it can't even come close to the Rythmik. If the Rythmik FVX12 is too big how about the F12-400? I have one of those here too (well F12SE version) and it's very close the FVX12, just sealed version essentially. It has an identical sound signature just less authority at its lowest extension but still loads more than the Speedwoofer.
Looking at the output comparisons, the sealed 15 outputs just a hint higher than ported 12. So that's $450 more for sealed. I cant decide. I wonder how much of pain it is the return these subs if one decides to go bigger or ported...
@@samray3461 Rythmik ported subs play just as clean and quick as sealed subs so unless you're looking for a certain shape or want sealed for it's smaller cabinet I'd say just save the money and grab the FVX12.
Hey Nemo, ordering either an FVX12 or a b-stock E15 soon. Will be replacing a Rel HT1205v1 and my only question is if I will notice anything that the Rel may have done better. I understand an overall comparison between the two doesn’t make sense but is the Rythmik better in all categories or just the vast majority with a couple small wins going to the Rel? Mainly trying to avoid setting the bar too high and being let down lol. Thanks!
The 1205 V1 is fantastic but I think its important to remember it launched at $699. It's a great performer and I still love mine but it cannot compete with the E15 or FVX12 both of which are much larger and more expensive.
Thanks for the review. Did you set damping on low or high? I have seen Shane's review from Sparechange about the F18's. He set the damping on low and he said that there are better subs out there that are snappier than the F18's. Did he do something wrong? Because you would automatically think that servo tech is way better than the standard tech in a subwoofer.
My review is based on using all settings. Shane has an extremely challenging room so he has to set his to low to get the most rumble. Changing damping to medium or high will have the F18 play tighter and faster than most subs on the market so I would not worry about that so much. There is a user in my discord that also has a pair of F18 if you want to ask him his experience. Our discord is free and links are in all the newer videos.
I am thanking about buying one Rythmik FVX12. I am trying out one SVS sb 3000 for movies It did very good music is just ok and trying Rel HT 1205 V1 great for music not for movies not impactful enough that's with two of them. Hey nemo! Love your reviews. I'm confused between F12 and FVX12, my application will mostly be 70% ht, I can fit the FVX12 but it sticks out quite a bit. Will the F12 suffice for a 1600 cu. sq. ft room?
Hey Phillip, "suffice" is very personal my friend. But here is the simple answer. Yes the F12 will not have any problems in a 1600 sqft room. The FVX12 on the other hand has bass more like a sealed 15". If you can fit the FVX12 I think you will be extremely happy with it but if room aesthetics are very important to you the F12 is also very capable. Basically the FVX12 will have more of that theater rumble than any sealed 12" but the F12 also rumbles, just not as much as the FVX.
I’m thinking of selling my two Rel S/812’s due to them bottoming out on some movies. They’re absolutely great for music, but I expected them to do a better job in the SPL department. Do you think two FVX12’s would perform where the Rels cannot? Thanks
Hi Brian, I love REL and Rythmik but just to be clear I have not heard the S812 specifically but if you like the REL sound but want more output for your money Rythmik is the logical place to look or REL's own Predator 1510. Vented subs generally have twice the output of their sealed counterparts so yes you should gain a good amount of headroom by going from dual sealed to dual vented subs and since the vented subs you're considering are Rythmiks you can also expect to have very good extension & transient response also! Now if you're trying to play the intro of Edge of Tomorrow at 110dB without bottoming out you may want to consider something larger like their F18. Another way to look at the FVX12 is (and again this is generally speaking) a vented 12" has similar output to a sealed 15" so you're going in the right direction for sure.
This sub fits my use case exactly for a mixed system. I have a 16ftx16ft open on one side with 8ft ceilings. Do you think one sub would suffice? Two of these monsters would look really ugly in my living room
it depends how extreme your taste for bass is, maybe you will only be satisfied with dual 18's maybe a compact sub is enough for your taste, it's really hard to guess unfortunately but for most people a single FVX12 will be plenty! Your bigger struggle is the square dimensions of the room which may hurt some frequencies but that will happen no matter what sub you have so nothing you can do about that anyway, you're welcome to hop in the free discord and show us a pic of your room if you want more feedback.
In terms of music capability and use how does this compare to the SB3000? What would be better for a 15 by 12 by 9 room (feet), going dual SB3000's or dual FVX12's?
I would later go on to crown this subwoofer of the year for 2021 and it remains in my arsenal as one of my favorite and most used. The SB3000 is a well made compact subwoofer if space is a concern however it cannot compete on any level against the FVX12. The FVX12 is better at any discriptor of sound or bass you wish to use. Transient response, note to note distinction, integration, handeling of delicate passages, etc... music or movies it doesn't even matter, it's the champion.
Since the bulk of my reviews are subwoofers for 2ch stereo I do not test maximum output. Generally speaking most subwoofers have more than enough output for music systems, especially larger vented models. As far as comparisons it's really simple, there is no other vented subwoofer that exists anywhere close the FVX12 in terms of price that has the sound quality & fidelity it has. The FVX12 stands apart, it's on it's own island, it has no competitor.
@@NemoPropaganda haha, I am still stewing over this subwoofer. Only because I have limited space. I can only swing 15 inch wide cabinets, OR I put my bookshelf speakers on top of the subs, either on short stands or actually resting on the sub cabinet. You think it is a bad thing or a faux pas to have bookshelf speakers resting on top of a subwoofer? If it is better to have bookshelf speakers on seperate stands, I can always get 2 Emotiva RS11, which I have had a very close eye on as well. Thanks in advance for any feedback you can offer.
@@tycheesey that would look too weird, I wouldn't do that. I'd get the F12 instead, that's 15.75" wide if that fits? Otherwise the Emotiva RS11 is pretty damn good!
@@NemoPropagandahey thanks! I literally have millimeters to spare with two RSL speedwoofers, which are exactly 15 inches wide. I read that the Emotiva RS11 are exactly 15 wide as well. I could fit one fvx12 with the audio rack off center, but my rack, subs and speakers all fit exactly into a nook that insets from a long stretch of wall.
@@tycheesey it sounds like you prefer to keep the aesthetics which I totally understand. A pair of RS11 is a badass option for sure! Here you can see the size differences, ruclips.net/video/AlUJQor6tM0/видео.html
No it does not, it uses a 400w Hypex based servo amplifier. I suggest you reach out to Rythmik to see if they have other options. Sometimes they are able to offer an alternative if you email them.
Can you give any indication of how much of a upgrade FVX2 is compared to the LV12M when it comes to output and spl? Like, is it a little bit of a upgrade or is it kinda drastic?
+2.5dB at 20hz, is that dratstic? If you're maxing out the LV12m then yeah that's going to be a pretty big improvement but if you're barely using the LV12m's maximum capability then that increased output will just be there for extra headroom which is never a bad thing. My advice is always the same, the LV12M is great, it beats everything that's cheaper than it and competes with many other brands subs costing double, it's an outstanding subwoofer, but if you can afford the FVX12 it's an upgrade overall but if you can't afford it and need something cheaper buy the damn LV12m, that's what it's there for. Also consider you can always add a second one down the line if the single is not enough.
@@NemoPropaganda So, I have two LV12M's right now. I'm not entirely sure if I'm maxing them out to be honest. I try to be in the safe side. I've got them hooked up to a MiniDSP 2x4 HD. How would I know if I'm maxing them out?
@@Chriswelder1 A few ways but primarily you wouldn't satisfied with the amount of bass you had no matter how loud you turned up your subs. Or you notice your subs play louder when you crank the volume but the extension stops increasing with the volume like it's louder but the rumbles aren't really getting louder, just the midbass region, or lastly you hear that dreaded bottoming out or distortion when a sub is maxed out and pushed beyond its limit. If this is a music system it's unlikely you're maxing out dual vented 12's. If it's theater well that's another story, you theater guys can get pretty crazy but the room size & listening habits will be the bigger factors.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks for the info!!! Its primarily a theater system and secondary music. I only have a 3.2 set up in my living room. Open floor plan. I'll stup up a few db's in the dsp and slowly rais the volume and see what happens. Maybe, im being modest with the subs. Don't get me wrong, they sound great! I just feel like missing a little that oomf in the bottom end.
@@Chriswelder1 if you feel like they're lacking a bit for sure turn them up a little and see what happens :) they're amazing subs but dual 12's are nowhere near the largest options Rythmik offers so they certainly have their limits but for sure try driving them harder before considering an upgrade :)
Hey Curry, the 12" should have better transients but the question is can you hear it or not? And I'd say the same about 2hz, sure it's a difference but can you hear it? The 12" is seriously capable, unless your room is very large or you want to recreate a real reference theater the 12" should be more than plenty.
easily class leading. I have yet to find a vented subwoofer that sounds better and of course it has the output and extension also. This is the biggest hidden gem I have found in all of my hifi journey.
Hi, Nemo. Need your opinion regarding choosing between FVX12 and F12. My HT size is 16 x 16.5 with a 10 feet ceiling. Space / Size of the subwoofer is not a constraint. My usage is 60:40 for HT : Music. I did demo the L12 (at the dealer's place) and found it to be quite good, although, I did not really feel that chest thumping or chair shaking experience. Need your opinion / advice in choosing between FVX12 and F12.
Hey Shankar, FVX12 for sure bro!!! The FVX12 has roughly double the output of it's sealed counterpart which is really important for theater and it' still killer for music. If you want chair shaking bass you might need a pair or something bigger than a 12" though :). With that said in my 2021 year end video I ranked the FVX12 as subwoofer of the year and I still stand behind that, it is the finest ported 12" subwoofer I have ever heard and I do not believe a better one exists at this price point nor do I know of a more expensive one that is better. Essentially the FVX12 gets my highest recommendation.
@@NemoPropaganda Thank you very much for your speedy reply. I really appreciate it. Your reviews are really great and helpful. I 've subscribed for your channel. Thanks again.
@@NemoPropaganda I suppose even dual L12s can't match a single FVX12. Am I right. Also , the Amp on F12 are different from the Amp on FVX12. Will that make a difference in th SQ??
@@shanxac FVX12 uses the highly regarded Hypex ampifiers, you're welcome to read up on them yourself, personally I don't care about the tech, I only care how it sounds, it could be powered by goldfish, if it sounds good I'm happy, and FVX sounds absolutely fantastic :)
@@NemoPropaganda ""it could be powered by ...."" 😀😀. Very well said. I agree with you. Well, you've made my decision making a lot easy. Guess I'll pull the trigger on FVX12 then. Thanks Nemo. I'll pen my thoughts on it post-purchase. Peace.
unfortunately they're a bit too large for my room, exotic designs like folded horn, infinite baffle, etc... have their pro's and cons, they can sound really good at one aspect at the cost of another.
When you talked about how good it sounded I was really leaning towards one but when you got to the size I was like "noooo", lol. Although it was expected since it is a ported sub. But I can't and don't want a sub that stand out too much in my living room. Maybe F12 is the best compromise.... I am curious how and why these subs have so low wattage I mean they have around like 400 watts RMS ported or not and compared to other servo subs like Velodyne that have 1000 watt amps. I thought the servo almost required a lot of watts. Why can these subs have so "few" watts?
That's a great question and Rythmik can probably explain more but wattage is only 1 factor. My understanding is the old Velodyne servo models were very inefficient so required more power and it's important to remember they were also very expensive. Rythmik subwoofers are very efficient so your power goes a lot further. I would not worry about the wattage, even the 300w L12 had plenty of power and played plenty loud!
@@NemoPropaganda Awesome, great to hear! 👍 I feel I am leaning towards a F12 beacuase I am very curious in the servo technique. But I just have to evaluate if I should continue using my BK subs. Thanks for the reply!
@@NemoPropaganda Yeah that is what I feel I am missing with my subs at the moment. They sound really great and integrate very well especially for music but the physical feel is really missing. They go on paper down to 20hz but I guess the output isn't there. And size-wise the F12 seems to be what I want. Besides the more expensive alternatives like Velodyne but Rhytmik seems to be what I am looking for. I guess SVS would be a great choice but I wanna go a little more different route because everyone wants or have an SVS as it seems. Also I am with you as you said in the video if it works well with music it works well with movies. 👍

I've been wanting to get a real sub for a long time but never sure what to get. Looks like the FVX12 is the way to go plus Ascend Acoustics sells them also and are recommended by them. I still would like to see a head to head comparison with the Monolith 12 but that will be for someone else to do it.
I'll put it like this my bro. I genuinely believe Rythmik makes the best ported subwoofer in the world and comparing it to a Monolith is like asking how a Porsche 911 compares to a Ford Mustang. There's nothing wrong with a Ford Mustang, in fact it's a great car, but it's not a 911, and it never will be.
@@NemoPropaganda I totally believe you. If Ascend Acoustics sells them then they have to be something special. My next sub Will definitely be the Rythmik.
@@NemoPropaganda Really that’s too bad. They seem to make some good stuff. The rythmik in this review I’m debating on my room is 14x11 with 7 foot ceilings and it’s a sealed room too. Would two of these be ok in my room or would I be better off on a single sub say the 15hp ? Im also very curious about the rel 1508 too any thoughts on that ? Thanks man !!!
@@chrisrichardson958 For theater or music? I have not heard the Predator 1508 yet but a good ported 12" generally has the output of a good sealed 15" so if you're between dual FVX12 or a single Predator the dual FVX12 is an easy choice to make here.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks for getting back to me! Sorry yes it’s mostly for theater. I do love ported subwoofers but idk the rel just seems so fast and articulate but 2 is definitely better than one
@@chrisrichardson958 FVX12 is also extremely fast and articulate, in fact it's midbass is better than the HT-1205 I reviewed and is more on par with REL's TX range. You said it yourself, you like ported subwoofers. This is the best one i've ever heard, buy a pair and don't look back, you won't regret it.
OK, I'm late to this party, but... What about FVX12 (and even F12se) compared to the RSL 12s ....? I have the RSL 10s mk2 and appreciate its dynamism and integration, but I realize it does not dig quite as deep as I might want. On the other hand, I'm not sure I want to go with a BIG sub... but might be willing should the case be compelling enough. I find that too much bass muddies the midrange and puts a veil on vocal dialogue clarity (which is paramount to me). My two main criteria are 1. integration, 2. midrange dialogue clarity. I suppose then dynamism, size, and depth as long as depth does not produce any smearing or muddiness of dialogue. I have put the RSL 10s mk2 directly against the ELAC 1000s Varro Reference, and I prefer the RSL based on my criteria, even though the RSL is 1/5 the list price... so I do not believe higher price = more enjoyable product. I'd hate to have to send one back, based on size and hassle and also the ding the company takes... but if I have to do head-to-heads like I did with the RSL 10 and the Elac, sigh, I will do so...
That comparison is in my free discords nemo FAQ section. But if you just want more extension and fidelity the most logical upgrade from the 10s (without going too big) is the Rythmik LV12m.
@@NemoPropaganda ok, so... if I start with an LV12m, and then move into a bigger space in a year or so, could I put an fvx12 in the front of the room and maybe the lv12m in the rear? (or some other dual sub configuration with the two...) I think I plan on playing the fvx12 with one port sealed anyway, most likely, as my emphasis is on music.
@@curt5802 You can mix any combination of Rythmik subs with great results but if you can afford the FVX12 to start you won't regret it, it's the sub I use most of the time despite owning many others. It's like a more refined version of the LV12M, little more clarity in the leading edges, little more precise, it's not a massive difference because the LV12m is already so damn good but it's worth the price difference if you can afford it. If not just grab the LV12m, you can't go wrong either way.
I have not heard monolith but I have a hard time imagining any brands ported subwoofer being better than this one with respect to sound quality and extension for this size and price.

I have not heard the PB-2000 but I did own the PC2000 for a bit and I prefer the FVX12 however for customers outside of the US where Rythmik is not available the SVS 2000 series is a fantastic option with a lot of output.
Yes, absolutely. Rythmik ported subs have better SQ than 99.99% of sealed subs and more extension than most vented subs of the same size. They are the definition of a hidden gem.
@@hometheatertamil9859 Hi bro, I can't review everything and I am already covering Rythmik A lot, I've done L12, L22, F12, FVX12, and soon will be doing E15HP2 and G22. Rythmik is like ferrari, you don't need to see a review brother, it's the best, just buy it :D
Do you think you'll get a chance to listen to any of the Rythmik 15's? I'd be curious to see how you feel about how they sound with all your experience with the Rythmik 12s. I have a fairly decent sized room (17x19, 10' ceilings and opens to the kitchen and living room). I feel like I have too many options to choose from (pair of 12's, dual 12s / opposed 12s, single 15, etc...). I'm probably 50/50 music / HT, but I'd really prefer to not sacrifice any speed.
At some point physics is just going to be a factor, even the larger REL's aren't as speedy as their smaller counterparts but it begs the question what is "fast enough". Rythmik will know their own subwoofers better but I would imagine the G22, E22, or pair of F12 may have a quicker response than something like the E15HP. But the E15HP is probably still a very quick subwoofer compared to other 15" models. I am thinking about reviewing one of their 15" subs but the weight is kind of a problem for me. It might be best you just ring rythmik and have a chat with them and see what they recommend.
@@NemoPropaganda I guess when I prioritize, SPL is not really as important as fast transients and overall SQ (might push me toward the 12's)...but I'll have to think about 1 vs 2 subs a bit. I'll give the Rythmik folks a call. There probably isn't a "bad" solution, perhaps ones that are slightly less optimal. They can probably help with those finer details. I hear you on weight. I might have considered some of the bigger Rythmik subs (dual 15s) until I looked at the weight. I can only imagine the fun in trying to find the "optimal" placement for a G25HP... :D
@@nmnate You are correct my bro, you're deciding between 2 very capable options :D. I'll say this, I'm pretty busy right now but after things cool down I will give some serious thought to reviewing the E15.
Nemo Propaganda Ya “fast enough” is a good question. Also what kind of music you listen to matters a lot. Rock music may benefit from the slightly quicker transients, but for rap and pop maybe benefit from the more authoritative sound. I hear a lot of rap bass is pretty sloppy to begin with.

I have not heard the PB3000 but vs SB-3000 there is a big size difference to consider but the FVX12 is more effortless with it's bass, has more authority down low, and much better midbass. The SB3000 is amazing and has crazy output and attack for it's size.
i have had pair of sb3000 and they are loud and have huge attack but everything sounds the same, totally lack of sq and definition. Totally do not recommend svs.
they're very different in overall size but based on your earlier comment of wanting a sub that could handle a larger room incase you move heres my 2 cents: the FVX12 is a vented sub, you'd need 2 1205 MK2's to compete with its output at all frequencies. These are both extremely high SQ subs so fidelity is not a concern on either. So you could either buy the larger FVX12 now and be set for a larger room or buy a single 1205 MK2 now and upgrade to dual 1205 MK2's later down the line if you move to a larger room. Either choice is a great one.

Really? I've only heard the Bravus 8/10 models and found them to be killer for their size/looks in a theater setting but only just "okay" for music only.
Yea. Nemo is the reason why they are out of stock in most models.
I'm debating between an E22 and E15HP2.
@@NemoPropaganda I asked Brian at Rythmik a similar question, and he said: "...E22 is faster and F15HP is more authoritative..."
This response threw me off.

Bro I want one but they're too expensive, JL would have to send me a review sample.
welcome back sir
Good to know. Thanks for the review.
Very nice review. Concise and to the point. Definitely got me interested. Been considering a Rel T9
@@pkats9093 Ah, I see, how large is the basement?
Thank you.
@@Audioloon of course my dude! Even if you have to buy the plate amp, maybe some haggling will get you a deal on it :).

I wish I had the room for that sub. I'd get the sealed version myself.
The sealed one is great too!
I was looking at the Monolith THX 12 but you have sold me on this one for my HT setup.
excellent choice! This is still one of my favorite subwoofers and still gets my highest recommendation. I believe this is one of the best vented subwoofers money can buy.
@@NemoPropaganda How does the SVS pb-2000 pro compare to this sub. I see they are the same price
@@DiscoDub74 PB2000 Pro is very good but cannot match the FVX12 in any metric. FVX12 stands apart and is possibly the best vented subwoofer.
I will emphasize on point you mentioned which I love and the sub just disappears to the point
You wonder if it’s working. Turn it off and you know it is. Of course that’s at lower listening levels. Crank the volume and you are rewarded with authority
And slam but you’ll still wonder is it working. That’s because the bass truly sounds like it’s coming from your front stage. Amazing.
No I don't like PEQ and PEQ should only be used if your room has major issues. Luckily my room does not have any major issues :).
I love servo subs. I hope its available here in NZ
So much for the REL HT series subs then! Would rather have a pair of these for theatre viewing.
The REL HT1205 subs are great for sealed 12" but they're more of an sb2000 competitor. If you can fit the larger FVX12 you surely will not regret it.
My wallet was bigger than my research that day)
The Rythemik G22's are a huge step up for music from the F12'S and the REL S812... those dual opposing drivers are incredible.
@@NemoPropaganda Take measurements for fun hahahah
@@navinsamuel2005 that doesn't sound like fun to me 🤦♂️
At lower volumes did this sound better than the KEF KC62?
@@NemoPropaganda Fair enough, thanks for taking the time to reply.
How would this compare to the monoprice monolith 12"?
I'm getting the F12-400 because it's for home theater and tv watching...in my master bedroom...a ported sub would be unsightly....
great choice! the f12 extends very low and sounds fantastic!
Thanks for the reply, I’m almost certain that the fvx-12 will be my next sub upgrade maybe two depending on how open or big my next house is. brother we both know that would be awesome, absolutely do that!

@@chadhunter8757 I hope so Chad, an 18" driver has 92% more surface area than a 13" 😁 You would essentially need 4 13" subs to equal 2 18" subs.

@@NemoPropaganda thank you. Can you send me the discord link to join? I couldn’t find it on your channel

I've been sitting on this review for quite some time. Do you think going from two speedwoofer 10s, to one FVX12 would be an overall improvement?
Hey Tyler, yes absolutely. I would choose the single FVX12 in a heartbeat.
Like the F12, does this model have the same amp plate (A370XLR3) with XLR inputs?
Hello Nemo how does FVX12 compare to new RSL 12s
its in the discord.
Would you say the Rythmik fvx15 is less accurate than the 12? Is the two extra hz worth it? I don’t care about extremely loud
Hey Curry, the 12" should have better transients but the question is can you hear it or not? And I'd say the same about 2hz, sure it's a difference but can you hear it? The 12" is seriously capable, unless your room is very large or you want to recreate a real reference theater the 12" should be more than plenty.
How is the mid bass on this sub from 30-40 hz for example ?
easily class leading.
Am I right.

Peace.
would be nice to hear your thoughts on the HSU research subs
my opinion is that they are inferior to rythmik but represent a fair value for the money.
any thoughts on open baffle servo subs?
unfortunately they're a bit too large for my room, exotic designs like folded horn, infinite baffle, etc... have their pro's and cons, they can sound really good at one aspect at the cost of another.
I feel I am leaning towards a F12 beacuase I am very curious in the servo technique. But I just have to evaluate if I should continue using my BK subs. Thanks for the reply!
@@sebulbathx unless you like to feel the weight of the bass (like heavyness) you will enjoy the Rythmik a lot. Though I'm not familiar with BK.

Hey Nemo ,
Question for you have you ever reviewed hsu subwoofers at all ?
No, Hsu is not interested in youtube reviews at all. I have sent them 3 emails and made 2 phone calls and never got a reply.
@@NemoPropaganda
Really that’s too bad.
@@NemoPropaganda
Thanks for getting back to me!
How would you compare this to the monolith V2 12
I have not heard monolith but I have a hard time imagining any brands ported subwoofer being better than this one with respect to sound quality and extension for this size and price.

This by itself. It two smaller subs in a 12x12x8 room? Albeit at like -6, or -10 probably. He -3db is at 42hz I think, but it's definitely lower with room gain. As far as I can tell anyway. Using my cell phone, and an app. ✌️
Hey Scott, depends on which 2 smaller subs you're considering.
82 lbs is a good solid for weight for a subwoofer. I'd really like what I'm reading and what people are saying about Rhythmik subwoofers.
if SQ is a top concern when buying a subwoofer Rythmik is the only option. Nobody else is making high SQ vented subs.
@@NemoPropaganda Wouldn't Hsu Research also be a top contender for high quality SQ vented subs too?
@@oniiz8685 I honestly don't think anyone else makes an SQ vented sub besides Rythmik and I've never heard any of the guys in my discord that have owned them refer to Hsu as an SQ sub.
Nemo Propaganda Please do. E15HP2 if I could make a request. Looking forward to it.

This subs looks so nice, what about compare with SB3000 or PB-3000
I have not heard the PB3000 but vs SB-3000 there is a big size difference to consider but the FVX12 is more effortless with it's bass, has more authority down low, and much better midbass. The SB3000 is amazing and has crazy output and attack for it's size.
i have had pair of sb3000 and they are loud and have huge attack but everything sounds the same, totally lack of sq and definition. Totally do not recommend svs.
fvx12 vs rel ht 1205 mk2?
they're very different in overall size but based on your earlier comment of wanting a sub that could handle a larger room incase you move heres my 2 cents: the FVX12 is a vented sub, you'd need 2 1205 MK2's to compete with its output at all frequencies.
