Got mine in today, this thing is absolutely incredible at the price point. I have an SVS SB1000, Micro 3000 and Def Tech Supercube from way back. I’m running the RSL on my KEF LS50II and I’m completely impressed
Mine is on the way!! I was on the list for the 10S and was contemplateing the SB1000PRO when I saw this video and I was sold instantly. It's honestly a no-brainer.
Can't beat that price. My DIY sub box took me 8 hours of labor so that is worth $300 at least never mind the 2 Parts Express 10" subwoofer drivers (installed back to back). The MDF, plate amp and paint I had laying around.
I cheated on that side. I started with a JBL 550P for $130 refurb. I then ordered a CSS SDX10 driver and swapped that in. The amp isn’t powerful enough but the enclosure size and quality is damn good for the $130 price. Saved myself multiple hours of building. I just need a 500-800W amp to power it properly. But I really want to pick up one of these 10E’s now to compare and I all but guarantee that I’ll keep the 10E instead of the CSS modified JBL for my living room theater setup. I think a ported sub would be the better choice. It will have more extension for movies and I don’t need super tight control for movies either. That’s why the CSS/JBL will go to my dedicated 2-ch setup. I also have two more of the 550P’s that quite frankly disappoint me now that I upgraded one. I’m not about to spend another $650 on two more drivers so I’ll have to try to unload them or something. Or maybe move them to the garage…I don’t know. They should do fine out there for music.
@@Mike.Macmyazka Very nice. You must have some crazy loud mids and tweeters to need an 800 watt sub. The amp for my dual driver sub is around 150 watts and the gain is less than 50% when dialed in to my Triad MTMs.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I sold off my empty Altec Lansing cabinets. I was looking at using them for the JBL subwoofer. These were the solid built 70's Santana series. Dang!!!
As someone who was looking to get the SVS -SB 1000 Pro, this review is making me reconsider. Two for the price of one is hard to resist. Think I'm gonna have to go that route.
RSL is so good that even though they are the cheapest parts of my system, every time I sit down to listen to music it's like, oh, I'm good for now. More than good 👍. For someone like me, that speaks volumes.
Same experience here! I have far, far more expensive subs but my 10” RSL blows my mind and sometimes make the more expensive subs sound weak in comparison. It just has a superb balance.
@PumpUptheJam81 get another one! You NEED 2 of these, it's far far better than 1. Agreed on the SQ, it is superb. I have a hard time thinking upgrade. Did you read the article NY Times, where this was chosen as the best SQ sub, period, regardless of price? In a listening shootout.
@@Audfile Was it the 10” or 12” in the article? I will have to find it! My RSL is in storage as of now and I am running two JL Fathom F113’s ( I still prefer the sound of the RSL!) even though the JL has superb build quality and can launch mortars. I also have a few Monolith coffee table subs but also in storage. I am sadly in apartment life for the time being until I get a career change dialed in.
@PumpUptheJam81 10s. This was before the 12s but I believe Nemo said the 10s are ever slightly tighter. And yeah, not surprised that you like them better. Article says what subs they were comparing with and it was major major stuff. They are the cheapest parts in my system, huge bang per buck.
I've tried to buy the RSL 10 mk2 for 3 months and it's only offered for like an hour a month before it sells out. So if they're serious about this then they have to build a bigger production line.
Or just keep selling out? This isn't an overly greedy company and I'm sure they're making some good money with their current production model. Bigger production lines are a big commitment and make for harder landings if/when sh!t hits the fan.
I just bought the Airmotiv XS10 this weekend. I'm expecting it to arrive on Wednesday. Got it for $400. It's probably not as good as the RSL but I'm sure I'll be happy with it. Emotiva seems to be a standup company. It's 350 RMS and I'm sure it's one of the better ones in the price range.
So do you think that using the rsl center speakers for all would be a good choice? For 150 a piece to me seems like a good price is they sound good in hometheater. Thanks
I contacted RSL about pairing my old front port 10s with the rear port 10e and this is the response I got.. "You shouldn't have any problem pairing the original 10S with the 10E. It's true that the ports will be on different sides of the enclosure, but it's the output from the listening area that's most important. As long as you take a few minutes to find the right location and dial in the phase, the 10E should be very easy to add to the setup. Over the past few years we've had quite a few people pair 10S MKIIs (with rear port) and 10Es with their original 10S’s. These work together very well even though the port has changed location."
I currently run two 10s subs stacked in one corner due to odd room dimensions. It's directed corner to corner to capture the longest dimension of the room and help with large bass waves. When you stack two in one corner you achieve up to a 6 db gain. When I first hooked them up I was stunned at the output. Literally everything in that room was rattling and buzzing until I treated those issues. Still, I can only turn them up to the 9 or 10 o'clock position or they overpower the main speakers. Mind you, I'm running big towers with 10" drivers. Lately I've considered upgrading to two rhythmic L12's at $1,280 or even two F12's at $2,380. You now present me with a third option: Fill all four corners with stacked 10e's for $2,400 (8 subs!) or two corners for $1,200 (4 subs!). Do you have any thoughts on this? Thank you.
L12 is the next logical upgrade from the 10S or 10E, I'm not sure which one plays louder but the L12 gets lower and has the best transients and overall SQ available around that price.
I freaking knew they'd do this shit lol, RSL is NOT here to fuck around, they are here to CAPTURE THE LOW END MARKET! I have to say i am still a bit surprised they undercut themselves! I was kinda missing the lower price point, but they made up for it and then some. My first rsl product may be a freaking rsl shirt if they got em! Here watching at 44 min into it being posted. This subwoofer is actually kinda funny because it's technically competitive on paper with a lot of subs that actually just have fake specs or hilariously misrepresenting/misleading specs lol. This one is most likely to replace the c912 if money doesn't come in quick enough for an L12. #RSLTakeover , broke boi paradise.
Was doing research on subs and came across this video. Then a quick google search on people’s consensus on the brand. Then ordered 2. Yeah these sound dope af, very happy with them. Thanks brotha
Great review my dude. Like the 10S I can see a 12E in the future for a little bit more. RSL is Making Moves for the people's ✊🏼 crossing my fingers a 15S is on the drawing board 😮
Damn Nemo your gushing. Looks like a nice deal bro, buy 4 and totally charge your room with 2 nice double stack arrays and still be at a respectable price.
I bought 2 of the 10S's when they came out a few years back. Are they a 15Hz extension monster? No, but for under 1K you can have fabulous under 30 Hz performance that's loud and clean. What a setup!
Both of my 10e’s arrived yesterday. I set them up quick (shitty placement and no calibration) and they are LEGIT. I replaced one RP1000 with these 2 instead of getting another RP. It was basically an even swap price wise. These absolutely sound better with music. I’ll test them with movies after I set them up right. WAYYY tighter than the RP, but the RP can definitely dig a little deeper. I don’t really care, as I’m like 80/20 music and movies. CERTIFIED BANGERS
Selling directly to consumer, if shipping cost is low, makes this one a real winner. The only feature that I'd like to see is balanced XLR input. This makes it completely matched for preamp and/ or crossover hookups.
This sub is an amazing buy. Unfortunately it’s a bit on the large size for my room. But if I had the space. I’d go for 2 in a heart beat. Definitely product of the year contender, and it’s going to be almost impossible to beat. At least at this price anyway. It’s a great time to be into audio man. ✌️
Just ordered one earlier, looking forward to using it. There are so many subs that are the same price or even cost more that are complete junk. RSL=quality and powa!!! Rock on 🤘 Nemo!!
Youre right about toyota. Friend of a friend worked for hyundai, toyota and Honda. Toyota litterally engineers their stuff to last to 750000km vs hyundai at 250 000km.
Is two better than one? Certainly but there is also an argument for one SB1000Pro. Recently I was integrating an SB1000Pro I own into my 2ch system and while it is only one subwoofer with all its room modes, the SVS App was actually very, very handy. To do the integration, I performed REW measurements and then changed subwoofer and or pre-amp settings (basic tone controls). Because of the app, I was able to do dozens measurements while tweaking different aspects, phase in increments of 1 deg from 0-180, three sets of PEQ where each can be centered on a specific frequency adjustable in 1 hz increments and tunable from -10 to +6db and adjustable Q (slope), this is in addition to the basic controls such as volume and crossover AND adjustable crossover slope. So while two is better than one, there is a good argument where one in this case the SVS with built-in DSP would be compelling. With two RSL, and basic controls, I’d probably have a much tougher time with the integration without getting into room correction or external DSP.
there certainly can be an argument made for a single sub in many situations, ultimately your room and needs will dictate what's best. For most people it will be dual subs but for some it certainly will be a single sub for one reason or another.
Recently found your channel and I really enjoy all the info. I currently have a two channel set up for music listening using dynaudio emit 20’s and an NAD C388. I’m in a 9’x11’ treated room. Do you think this would be a good addition to that system? Been wanting a little more clean bass in my system.
Came back to this video to comment. I clicked on this video the moment I saw it in my feed. RSL has thrown down the gauntlet in a market where brands like SVS and the reasonable price heavy weight Emotiva have raised their prices.
Great review Nemo! I have an SB1000 for my HT set up and want to add a sub to my office -- 2 channel listening room. I was looking at the RSL 10S MkII for speaker level inputs (Yamaha R-N303 - no sub out) to add to my Emotive XB2+. Now, I'm thinking the 10E would go in the HT and SB1000 in my office. Is the 10E going to punch better in my HT? BTW, I grew up in So Cal and bought my first real stereo from an RSL shop in Pasadena. I got the RSL Eighty tower speakers, Yamaha separates and they ROCKED. So, I'm a long time fan of RSL. Thanks!
Hey Rick, it's a lateral move in some ways but the 10E should have a little more oomph in it and sound a little more forceful down low. The SB1000 Pro is my favorite SVS sub but it starts to lose some of its strength when pushed too hard in the lowest frequencies and that's where you'll notice the 10E keeps its composure. It's not so much that the 10E is better it's more the inherent difference of their designs, vented subs like playing low so I think that's a good idea! Of course if you want a bigger upgrade for your theater theres always the 12s :D but that's a pretty large box!!
Great video as always...qick question...I have a RSL 10s in my system...have always wanted to get a second sub but just couldn't afford it... would the 10e match up good with my 10s?
@@NemoPropaganda just curious were you involved in the development or tuning or the product or just got early access to it? Doesn’t to influence my buying decision just interesting to know.
@@aceofspades6667 nope, they just sent me a review sample ahead of launch. It's very rare for anyone to ask my 2 cents on a preproduction unit. RSL has a good team that knows what they're doing. I'm surprised they even still send review samples, they don't need to, their stuff sells out so quick. But they're super cool & down to earth people that just love the hobby.
@@aceofspades6667 value questions are so personal so it's hard to say, if the physical size was not an issue a single 12s is just so damn effortless I'd still rather have that but in a bigger room where I needed more even bass I might prefer the dual 10E or even 10S.
Yep, bought my wife a 24 Camry. Coming from a Kia. Got burnt with the oil burning issues. I have 1MK2 and was trying to integrate it with Infiniti SUB R10. Didn't work to well. I may get another MK2 eventually. Thanks...
This may be my ticket. I purchased an Emotiva SE-8, about a year ago, and haven't been able to make is sound right. Thoughts? This must be a lot better? Thank you, Nemo!!!!
The SE8 is a great little sub, you should be able to get it to sound good, try playing with the phase and keep that freq knob turned down all the way! As far as the 10E, it's not even close, the 10E is on another level, even if you had 3x SE8's it wouldn't come close to what a single 10E can do.
@@NemoPropaganda Thank you so much for the quick and GREAT response. I'll keep trying w/ the SE8 but this 10E by RSL is in my future. Haha! God bless, brother! Always looking for your next one!
Thanks for reviewing! Quick question...I'm looking to replace my current subs and wondering if 4 of these 10E's or 2 of the 12S's would be better? Thanks!
I had dual Klipsch SW-110s in my bedroom 5.2 and it all sounded pretty good. I recently moved and one SW-110SW-110 didn't survive. I watched your video here and decided to get a pair of the RSL 10E's. HUGE difference. I can really tell the difference. Blade Runner sounds incredible now. Kong really pounds in Ready Player One. Club shootout in Wick 1, better but not huge difference. Edge of Tomorrow. So cheap, so good.
Hi Nemo! For strictly music, would you go with a new 10S MKII or a used T/9i? I'm looking for high fidelity, clean, fast, tight sound. I don't care for max power/loudness.
I'm looking for a sub for my apartment. I really want this one so i was wondering, if I have to keep this super low, would it still be worth it to add to my setup?
yes, vented subs generally sound great at low volumes, its an inherent benifit of the design. Usually in apartments you can still have a subwoofer if you keep the volume reasonable and don't play it loud past 8pm.
Hello again Nemo, I have the first S10 for 6 years now, and is excellent. Between my experience with it and your recent review, i bought the 12" one ( surprisingly cheap shipping cost both times, as i live in Mexico City) Could you tell me please if this E version is good for music? Im thinking about buying one of this for *complement" the other two. ( More than buy one for fun and see how it blends 😊) As always thank you so much for what you do, love your work.
I have the 550p got it for under $200 5 years ago. Its been pretty solid. Except now phase 0 doesnt work (just buzzes the whole time) and once in a while I get a low hum (have to unplug and replug the sub cable now and then). I cant tell if being on phase 180 is an issue... Sounds okay to me. Do you think its worth the upgrade to drop $300 bucks for the 10E? Another reviewer says they are pretty similar if you just increase the volume on the 550p and had graphs to back it up. Thoughts?
yeah I saw that guys review, I'm a very anti-measurements person for this very reason. I've owned both and they are absolutely worlds apart in real world use. Measurements may be useful to the engineer that is building something but for the listener I find it mostly useless unless you're using it to intigrate a multi channel theater which is another story because time aligning all those drivers is very difficult by ear. Measurements will show you a Toyota Camry & and a BMW 3 Series both can drive 65mph without any issues but it tells you nothing about the actual driving experience ya know what I mean? I'd take a single 10E over a pair of 550p all day long. This is what I think is gonna happen, you're gonna be a little apprehensive but you'll think about what I said, you'll pull the trigger at some point, it'll arrive, and you'll have that holy Sh moment and wonder what the hell that other guy was talking about. The 550p is great at $200 for sure, but the 10E extends lower and has much cleaner output overall. Some people are absolutely deaf with respect to bass quality, something the 550p lacks. Anyway, hope that helps.
@@NemoPropagandaEverything you've said makes absolute sense. And you're right, I will probably be contemplating this decision for a bit, being that I don't necessarily "need" to spend $300 + tax when for the most part, the 550p has has filled my apartment space decently. One day I may just pull the trigger and say.. why did I wait so long 😂. On paper it appears the 550p, 300w RMS goes down to 27hz (vs 26hz for the 10E) but not sure how accurate that is being that you said there's a big difference between the two. Maybe I can see RSL's return policy to try one out and do a side by side comparison.
@@tomle2553 if your 550p is working and the phase issue is not affecting the sound then you can totally take your time and just let it ride until its on its last leg. If you got the extra cash and its no sweat though I say just go for it!
Still trying to get mine dialed in. I think I’m pretty close. I’m using the bass management on my Outlaw stereo receiver, and bypassing the crossover setting on the subwoofer. My speakers are Martin Logan bookshelves with6 1/2” midrange.
@@NemoPropaganda, thanks for the response. I’m using a mono RCA cable from the subwoofer out to the LFE in on the subwoofer. I have the crossover on the sub set to bypass, and the receiver’s bass management set to 80. As you probably know the receiver has a sub 1, and sub 2 out with a slide switch for crossover frequency.
@@tpr299 80hz is way too high IMO, personally I've never heard a sub sound better at 80hz versus something lower like 50hz. I've always felt the 80hz crossover is something that just keeps getting repeated but doesn't really work. Try setting the switch to the next freq down, I think it's 60hz, should sound better and integrate better. The higher the freq is set the less the sub will integrate generally.
Thanks, Nemo, for this video. I was about to order the mkii but was hesitant because it was pushing my budget as a retired person. I can afford the 10e and don't need the extra 100 watts and remote features. Put my name on the waiting list 7/13/24. Side note: I remember Roger's Sound Labs on Van Nuys Blvd. In the San Fernando Valley in the 1970's. Never thought I'd buy their product 50 years later.😊
either one should be fine, if you're worried the 10E won't be enough then go for the 10s since it has a little more output. Your listening habits will determine how much bass you need. Since your space is larger it would be wise to er on the side of caution and go for the more powerful 10s.
Do you change your crossover depending on what you do like putting it on 120hz or higher for movies and games, then 50hz for music? Or do you just set it to one frequency and leave it at that?
Great review. Question. You asked what might be great in this price range. How would you compare the Martin Logan 400? Looking for a sub mostly for music with B&W 600 desktops. Thanks
The dynamo 400 is extremely limited in terms of output compared to something like the RSL 10E, you might need 3 dynamo 400's to equal 1 RSL 10E. Since you're going to be using for desktop then maybe output is not as important and instead you'll prefer a smaller sub like the 400.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks so much for your prompt reply. Not using on a desktop. Using with desktop speakers. I have always had speakers with excellent bass (Klipsch Forte's, assorted Kef Referances.). This is my first real subwoofer. I was also considering refurb B&W ASW608 since i have B&W. But the RSL 10E new is the same price as the B&W refub at accesseries4 less and not sure I want to mess with refurbs?? I care more about music than movies. SInce my original comment, I spoke to Drew at RSL. Excellent customer focus and they even offer a veteran discount. Have a great day.
300$ for this is really pushing it. You couldn't even DIY a similar speced sub at that price point as a decent 300Watt plate amp will set you back 150$ alone. This is a crazy good deal. I don't actually know how RSL does that.
HUGE props to RSL !!!!!! HOLY SHIT THIS IS INSANE... IF ONLY SVS could have something like THIS... Lets see IF they respond ....???? ( THIS coming from an SVS owner ...)
I don't think they will, SVS is more of a technology/feature driven brand at this point and they do a really good job at that and offer a fair value. RSL is just an insane value!
Another thing we have in common. I’m a Camry lover too. I’m on my 4th, or 5th one right now. And my Mom has a Lexus on my recommendation. Toyota is where it’s at. Sure I’d rather drive something fast like you do. But I need mine for work. So I go for reliability first. ✌️
the 1205 mk1 is a great sub, it's going to integrate better and have better transients but the 10E being vented will have higher ability for dynamics and more output at the extremes.
Help tip the scale for me… if you had to choose, which 2x would you pick? Main reason I’m interested in switching is aesthetics since I picked up the rel used and they have a little ding here and there and I can get the rsl break even price. If you think it’s a waste of time then I’ll probably scrap the idea of switching. I live a boring life I’ve got too much time on my hands! :D
@@speedthree3 ahaha, I hear ya. Honestly brother I'd keep what you have. I have an original 1205 also, it's an outstanding sub. Unless you were lacking in output I don't see any reason to change to the 10E.
So you sold me on the SVS PB 1000 but now watching this I'm torn. I'm buying strictly for home theater and gaming. Will 2 of these be better then one SVS PB 1000? I run a full Kef set up with Q950s as the fronts.
depends what you want more my bro, dual 10E will have the benifits of dual subs and should have more headroom which is pretty sweet but the single PB1000 Pro will extend lower, you can't really go wrong with either choice, both options are great for the money and will produce great LFE effects in games & movies.
of course the baby 8" t5x cannot come close to having the output or extension of the larger 10E but yeah in terms of fidelity REL & Rythmik are in their own world.
Hey…I know this is an older video. But, just got my 10E in today. Running off of a musical fidelity A1 and q acoustic 3030i’s. Holy shit! I’ve been using q acoustics 3070 for music. They were on sale for $219 and I figured no big deal if they suck, I could give them to my yard guys. But, I found the fast response of the dual 6.5 woofers were really good bass to my ears. I still use them to augment my Lintons on another system. I use a klipsch 12 for my small movie room. It’s great for movies. my point, the 10E seems quick for music too, but, with the ability to go lower-transitions are better. I’m going to use RSL on everything after my brief exposure to the 10E. Also, I was one I the first to get their small amp. I’m not a class d fan but this one is the exception. Gave it to my son-he lives in the dorms at Barksdale afb. The low-pass filter is incredible. RSL has a military discount, so my 10E was like $269. Now I’m thinking of a whole new RSL system for movies. Like Toyota, just buy it, knowing the quality and customer service is excellent.
Hey Nemo . I have a problem . I’m putting a Onkyo RZ50 in my barn AKA garage to put a small home theater out there . I want to connect it to a REL but they want to know what kind of amplifier is in the RZ50 . Do u have any idea ,or could you tell me where to look ? Thanks Nemo . I think this would be make a good match with the RZ50 as it can take two subs but they aren’t separated it’s like having two subs on one plug but you can put them across the room from each other .
I have not reviewed the RZ50 and I am not a topology expert by any means but based on the pictures of the internal circuits it very much appears to be a traditional Class AB amp.
I have a 10s and was thinking of upgrading to a pair of subs. From the sounds of your review, the 10e should match well for a second sub. Knowing the output and extension is a little better on the 10s, do you think it will perform good with the 10s as a second sub with a little push on the volume. I use them equally for stereo music and also 2.1 currently for movie. Love the 10s. The price of this thing will settle and remove my ambition on replacing the amp plate on a 12" high excursion ported sub that I never really liked. I also read your 10s review a long time ago before I bought that. Good review and it turned out it was not hype. Hearing the 10e tone/sound feels the same of the 10s is similar is very important to me. Thanks for that distinction. I trust your reviews.
the only problem I'd see is if you have the older front vented 10S you could have some timing issues with the rear vented 10E. Or if you are really pushing your subs to the absolute limit of extension or output you will find the 10E will hit its limit first but it doesn't sound like you'll be running them all out like that.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks for the quick response. Yes this is a front port 10s and wonder if turning to the back would be an option if timing was an issue? As far as power I run very modest on the sub (50-60%) as I have ported towers, Polk Monitor 75T that I will be upgrading from 100 to 200-250watts power amp. Thanks again and I won't find any more questions for you but turning a front ported sub to a rear ported sub is way out of my league. I realize I may need some distance from the walls. Thanks again, Bob
@@robertingraham8413 you should be alright but I think it would be wise to email RSL to be on the safe side, worse case scenario you sell the 10s MK1 and buy a pair of 10E :) emailing them is easy enough and they really know their stuff.
sooo that one is a bit of a marketing gimmick, heres why: they quote the extension as going down to 30hz but that's at minus 10dB! No other subwoofer manufacturer uses -10dB as a reference because it's so exaggerated, if the 10E extension was rated at -10dB it's extension would probably be 16hz!! But that's a BS exaggerated spec so RSL rates it properly at -3dB and it's still lower than the SW15. The reality is the SW15 cannot extend reliably below 40hz because it has a high port tuning frequency. That's a very poor design for music and even worse for theater, it'll have a strong 40-60hz region and that's about it. It's essentially a narrowband one note wonder. But I will admit that kind of tuning is well suited to playing very loud so if you need a big party sub the SW15 will get the job done, I just wouldn't use it for anything besides parties or small DJ setup where sound quality is not a factor.
RSL is a legitimate speaker company. Big difference. I used to work for the owner. He has a passion for what he does. Monoprice sells evertying under the sun, sort of like a flea market - junk
Hey Buddy going to order 12s now can I get it sealed ? If not I will buy anyways or do you think 2x 10e would nw nest on a room 14ft x22ft and 17 panels 8 diffusers ' ceiling treatment as well ?
no, you should not seal the 12s, plugging the vent on a large vented sub will result in a sealed sub with a giant box and a high Q so it will be very underdamped, generally sounding sloppy and in a worse case scenario a reduction of power handeling that could cause damage. Some drivers can take abuse all day long in a vented enclosure, you put that smae driver in a sealed enclosure and it can fry with the same power or less. I'm not famliar enough wtih the RSL 12" driver to know how it would perform in a sealed enclousre but I know 100% there is not a 12" driver in the world that would perform well in a 4+ cuft enclosure :). Anywho, as far as dual 10E or dual 12s that's a tough call, there is a massive size & performance difference between the two. A pair of 12s will recreate reference theater in most room sizes. The 12s performs more like a compact vented 15" in terms of scale & output. If you want the big daddys def go for the 12s. If you don't want such behemoths in your room then the 10E are without a doubt the best subwoofer you can get at its price and easily rival some brands subwoofers up to $1000. Ultimately this just comes down to how much bass you want which is like how much sugar should you put in your sweat tea, everyones gonna have a difference answer since it's so personal :). Hope that helps though.
@NemoPropaganda ohh I was wondering if they build a sealed enclosure I may go with 1 12s for now small room 14ftx22ft I do like the high level inputs on 12s for my vintage intgrated Amps ' But me on the bench because 10e doesn't have high level input but 2 of them may have better balance in room than 1 12s ? And I don't have alot room ' I am more in to speed n upper bass punch than how low the sub can go' I may call them I will tell then you the reasoning I am buying
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 if you need the high level why not just go for the 10s Mk2? That one has high level :). Based on everything you've said I think you will love the 12s so long as the physical size is not an issue, it's freaking big!!!!!!! You can also just use a high to low converter, it's not ideal but it works. ruclips.net/video/rQeYdz7vKqQ/видео.htmlsi=uoU1Z_cPDOTPAzGI
My home theater 5.1 system started 4 years ago. I went from 1 10 in sub to 2 10 in subs in 6 months. It wasn’t enough! I decided to just bite the bullet and bought 2 15 in HSU subs. If you are building a true home theater system, skip all the affordable subs and save it for true subwoofers. My next upgrade will be a miniDSP and REW. The loudest I play movies are 90 decibels at my main listening position which is 12 ft from my tv.
I'm not sure I really agree with that, there are plenty of people that run 8" subwoofers and never feel like they need anything beyond that. Enough bass is a very personal thing, it's like how spicy do you want your food, we may have different desires for different levels of spice. Personally I'm extremely happy with a little KEF KC62 in TV rig.
Which would you go for to upgrade a 5.1.2 system which currently uses an SVS SB 1000 pro: Two of the new 10E subwoofers or One of the rhythmic LV 10 M ?
I can't really answer that question for you but you're welcome to hop in my free discord and chat with some people about it, maybe after we see your room we can help you a little better.
I picked up a B&W ASW610 for $250 used after watching your ASW608 video! How would you compare this subwoofer against the B&W? Is it an upgrade from an overall perspective?
The ASW range was great in terms of note to note distinction but very lacking in power & output. B&W really need to update that range but they are so lazy. The RSL 10E is superior to any of the ASW subs, you'd probably need 3 or more 610's to equal a single 10E but if you don't need the output and you got a good deal the ASW subs do sound very good, just over priced in todays market, at least in the USA.
Building my first system I think im going with one of these and 3 of their CG23Ms for the front to start out. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this company and I’ve only ever had cheap soundbars. I can’t wait to experience something better
Thank you! Hope to snag a pair when the next batch are available. I moved my 10s to my 2.1 system and really miss the deep base from my temporary standby sub.
if you have an old crappy AVR that has a crappy filtered subout then high level might sound better, if your amp has no preout or subout then high level is another way of getting your subwoofer connected. There's no inherent benifit of high level for the sake of being high level. It all gets converted back to low level inside the subwoofer anyway.
So the rsl 10e or 10s mkii or rel t9x? Mainly for living room system both 2 channel and some movies....have dedicated theater room. Run rsl bookshelves 3.1... i can purchase duals in either of these. Thoughts??
those are two extremely different subwoofers my bro, I don't gernerally get people cross shopping those two models. What do you want from your subwoofer?
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks for the reply. I want a subwoofer that is musical, accurate, has clean bass notes. This is the main tv in the home for watching sports, shows & few movies from netflix etc when we dont want to climb stairs to watch in home theater. Find myself listening to music on this system more often now though. Having the ability to place 2nd sub anywhere in the room is a bonus so wireless ability is good although it may not be completely necessary. I currently have 1 10s mkii and was going to add another OR maybe go rel route if there was justification for doing so.
@@theoallen100 generally if someone is happy with the sub they have and they want more adding a second matching sub is what I recommend. You certainly can ditch what you have an go in another direction but I'd only recommend that if you were unhappy with your current subs sound signature or aspects of its performance. The REL T9X and RSL Speedwoofer simply don't belong in the same conversation. If you have the speedwoofer and you're looking for an upgrade the path would be to go duals or if you want different subs the next step up would be something like a Rythmik LV12M or if you want to keep things small the XTZ 10.17 Edge is also fantastic.
@@NemoPropaganda thanks for your honest input and guidance! (Huge performance car guy as well bro!) So after thinking about this more, and reviewing specs, I'm now wondering if the S510 should be on my radar as a possible single sub solution? (Would prefer single vs. duals to conserve floor space) The Rythmik's size is the only issue for me since it's in my living room and I just ordered the SF Lumina II 3.1 system after hearing those. Thoughts on if the S510 is too large or too much?
@@theoallen100 hmmm, the RSL Speedwoofer 10s is a vented 10" and can play very loud for how small it is, the REL S510 is an absolutely outstanding subwoofer but it is a sealed 10", I can't be sure it will be enough for you or not. How much bass is enough is a very difficult question to answer because everyones room and taste for bass are different. It's like how spicy is spicy enough, everyone will feel differently.
My next purchase will be a $110 RSL amp as soon as I sell my Triumph America. The wife barely likes me having new Sportster and certainly doesn't like me having 2 bikes. Not that I care that much. If I really wanted both I wouldn't sell the Triumph. I have Florida property taxes to pay so...
yes, do keep in mind if you push them to the absolute limit the 10E will hit its limit before the 10S, if you can afford to have them match do that but if you can't the 10E will tonally match the 10S no problem.
most of us (myself included) don't use any highpass filter. Just set the sub around the natural inroom roll off of your speakers, play with the phase (pick the one you like more or the louder one) and dial in the gain. Feel free to hop in the free discord if you need anymore help.
The 12S is an absolute beast! But I get what you mean, size matters and it has to look good in the room too so if the room is too small a giant sub can dominate the room.
@@NemoPropaganda but you know what... I think that while I'm at all this, I'm just gonna go for a Rhythmik in the next couple months, possibly a lv12m, but maybe follow your lead and go directly for the fv12x ... so I'll think that through for a bit, examine my space. I'll keep my RSL, and save it for my future office system. But, like you, I have a really nice main system, about $13k worth like yours, so I should really just suck it up and bring it to reference level while I'm at this. Thank you again for your insights.
I just saw this email and was about to come comment like damn this has got to be the subwoofer referenced a few days ago and sure enough here’s the review.
Absolutely incredible for the price! And yah the peak numbers marketing is terrible. Even if a lightning strikes your subwoofer it'll probably never hit those peak numbers. That's why the subwoofers with 2000-3000 watt peak numbers still have standard 120 volt setups typically.
Hey Nemo, first Happy Birthday to you. Hope you had a good time. I need your help please. I'm looking to buy a Pair (yes, 2) subwoofers to integrate in my small room. Size : 9.2ft W x 12.8ft L x 8ft H. I'm into music and music only and really need low extension but sound quality is definitely my priority so proper crossover to my mains is on top of my priority. My budget is very limited and would really love to get the best integration I could get. Been playing with REW Room simulation and know where to put those. The thing is that I am using a RME ADI-2 DAC FS and it only has one stereo output (Actually XLR and RCA but both cannot be EQ'd/filtered separately) . Which lead me to my issue. As much as I would love to get the Rythmik L12, I would also need to buy an External Crossover as there is no output on the L12. Now I have a few models in mind and would love to get your POV. By the way, my mains are Lipinski's L-707 Mastering monitors and I do Audio engineering so flat frequency response from 20hz to 20 khz and proper crossover is vital in my case. High output volume, is pretty much the least important thing in my use case. So I'm debating in buying a pair of those : SVS SB-1000 Pro, Rythmik L-12 or Paradigm Defiance V12 + Marchand Passive Crossover. Or would you suggest anything else ? My budget is 1600$ USD max and I need them ASAP as I'm working on a bass heavy project as we speak. Thanks a lot for your help.
Got mine in today, this thing is absolutely incredible at the price point. I have an SVS SB1000, Micro 3000 and Def Tech Supercube from way back. I’m running the RSL on my KEF LS50II and I’m completely impressed
RSL 10e or SB1000 for strictly music?
Mine is on the way!! I was on the list for the 10S and was contemplateing the SB1000PRO when I saw this video and I was sold instantly. It's honestly a no-brainer.
Can't beat that price. My DIY sub box took me 8 hours of labor so that is worth $300 at least never mind the 2 Parts Express 10" subwoofer drivers (installed back to back). The MDF, plate amp and paint I had laying around.
Yeah, I built the ultimax 15 with the spa1000.Ive never heard anything, even 3x that price even come close.
I'm glad you talked me out of the JLB 550P on your discord. This was worth waiting for. $299 is crazy for this spec.
Do it. These will sound better.
@@wking8Good to know. Thanks for the advice. Appreciate it.
It's doubtful that you'll regret it and it's pretty low risk especially if you can return them.
I now own both and the RSL crushes the SB1000
Two will also balance out each other. It won't sound like it's coming from one corner
If I hadn't gotten a 10S MkII just last year, I would be all over this. Big RSL fan.
Bought the RSL ia with the help of your review. Really like it and now this may have to take up the sub out .THANK YOU !
hell yeah brother!
RSL is so good that even though they are the cheapest parts of my system, every time I sit down to listen to music it's like, oh, I'm good for now. More than good 👍. For someone like me, that speaks volumes.
Как его получить в России ?
Way to go RSL 🎉
Thanks for sharing Nemo
Such a killer price, I just received an email about this. Hitting it out of the park again! Thanks Nemo!! Just may pick one up!!
Low supply increases demand.
I literally just checked my email and saw this and bam Nemo already hit us with a review!
Same.
I have 2 Speedwoofer 10S and use the wireless connection. It makes placement super easy.
This seems like the perfect subwoofer for a not as serious secondary system in a spare room or something! Love it.
I had an XS8 die on me in less than a week.
@@gregwwinkler Did Emotiva exchange it?
I returned it but still haven’t been refunded. Takes a few weeks I guess.
@@gregwwinklerDid Emotiva ever actually process the refund?
@@LordWaterBottle I'm curious to know as well.
RSL is Amazing , I have a full 7.2.4 RSL build with 2 12s subs , and let me tell you the sound is mesmerizing pure bliss.
These work together very well even though the port has changed location."
awesome news, thanks for sharing!
Deflation in goods coming in hot. Would be interested in seeing a nemo review on the Holo audio cyan 2.
$300 for all of this is actually insane
yup
Also, it’s $300 shipped. That’s a huge bonus as well.
Was doing research on subs and came across this video. Then a quick google search on people’s consensus on the brand. Then ordered 2. Yeah these sound dope af, very happy with them. Thanks brotha
hell yeah brother, enjoy!!
I like the tight base and fast leading edge comment. Excellent review Andrew. Cheers
Looks Excellent if you can find it. Need more affordable equipment for the average buyer. Thanks for the review.
A speaker company being honest, and working to provide something that exceeds expectations. Brilliant!
It didn't take much convincing, but I bought one right away! Can't wait to try it out! Gonna try it in the desktop system. Awesome review!
CERTIFIED BANGERS
hell yeah brother!
Selling directly to consumer, if shipping cost is low, makes this one a real winner. The only feature that I'd like to see is balanced XLR input. This makes it completely matched for preamp and/ or crossover hookups.
Hard to imagine it’s going to be any better than the other $300 subs out there.
Orders in! Thank for another great review bro. Home Theater in a camper so no room for the 12s
Nice bro! A few of my friends have RV's and I've been trying to convince them to add a sub but no luck so far :)
Awesome, now when is the 12E coming?!!!
I'd guess never, I don't see that form factor getting any cheaper, it's already pretty amazing.
Recently found your channel and I really enjoy all the info. I currently have a two channel set up for music listening using dynaudio emit 20’s and an NAD C388. I’m in a 9’x11’ treated room. Do you think this would be a good addition to that system? Been wanting a little more clean bass in my system.
Yes! However the EMIT have A LOT of bass so you might need to plug their ports to get the best subwoofer integration.
I got the RSL Eighty tower speakers, Yamaha separates
and they ROCKED.
I ordered two of these. Should be a nice upgrade from the single Sony SACS 9 I'm currently using 😬. Thanks for the video!
wow! that is going to be an absolutely massive upgrade for you, I'm so happy for you!!
Great video as always...qick question...I have a RSL 10s in my system...have always wanted to get a second sub but just couldn't afford it... would the 10e match up good with my 10s?
yes but they do look slightly different, the 10S has the little ledge/chin at the bottom while the 10E front baffle is completely flat.
@@NemoPropaganda thank you
My 10E will be here Monday. I’ve been using an Outlaw Audio M8. It will be interesting to see what kind of upgrade this will be.

Yup! this is the one!! :)
Thanks...
I'm not surprised, mixing brands rarely works out well.
Thanks!
I'm not sure, that's a better for RSL directly but if I had to guess I'd say dual 12s.
So cheap, so good.
hell yeah brother, I'm glad you got to see the light :) on paper those two subs look similar but in real world use the 10E is a different beast!!
RSL makes good stuff, and you can't beat the value. That's a strong combination. Especially in today's market.
Hi Nemo! For strictly music, would you go with a new 10S MKII or a used T/9i? I'm looking for high fidelity, clean, fast, tight sound. I don't care for max power/loudness.
I never heard the t9i, only the t9x.
RSL doesn't miss!
they really don't!!
Between my experience with it and your recent review, i bought the 12" one ( surprisingly cheap shipping cost both times, as i live in Mexico City)
Could you tell me please if this E version is good for music? Im thinking about buying one of this for *complement" the other two. ( More than buy one for fun and see how it blends 😊)
As always thank you so much for what you do, love your work.
if you already have the 12s then I don't think you really need a 10E. The 12S is crazy good!
My speakers are Martin Logan bookshelves with6 1/2” midrange.
if you're using the RR2160 I'm guessing you're using highpass? If so you just gonna dial in phase and gain.
@@NemoPropaganda, Yes that’s correct the next setting would be 60hz. I’ll give that a try. Thank you for the advice.
Just curious??? Does the little RSL amp set the crossover at 90hz? I have one on my desktop hooked up to my Outlaw Audio M8 subwoofer right now.
I thought about getting two of these for near field.. I already have 2 12S subs and I love em
Yup, the Toyota Camry comparison is spot on. Totally get that. What else could you say really?
Honestly RSL is rocking THE HOUSE...
100% agree.
Thanks for covering this model. Does this 10e have have the music mode vs lfe like the 10s skiing has?
I don't remember, I sent it back right after the review.
@@NemoPropaganda I'll look on forums. In fact, I will call RLS and ask since I'm in ernest to buy one of these. I;ll report back
For a large open space living room, should I get this or the 10s mkii? Can't afford the 12
either one should be fine, if you're worried the 10E won't be enough then go for the 10s since it has a little more output. Your listening habits will determine how much bass you need. Since your space is larger it would be wise to er on the side of caution and go for the more powerful 10s.
@@NemoPropaganda thank you
Do you change your crossover depending on what you do like putting it on 120hz or higher for movies and games, then 50hz for music? Or do you just set it to one frequency and leave it at that?
no, I set the x-over to the speakers I'm using and that's it. The only thing I change is gain, more for movies/games, less for music.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks for the quick reply man keep up the good work!!!!
Ordered two of these to replace my Def Tech Prosub 800. Thanks for the review!
nice, hope you enjoy them!!!!
It might be hard to compare, but should I go with two RSLs 10E or one RSL 12S for a 16'X19'X10' open-space living room?
I can't really answer that question, theres just too many factors, 1 giant sub has its benifits as does 2 smaller subs.
Thanks for the review. Question, how would you compare 2x 10e to 2x rel ht1205 that I picked up for $500 used? Thanks for your time!
the 1205 mk1 is a great sub, it's going to integrate better and have better transients but the 10E being vented will have higher ability for dynamics and more output at the extremes.
Rel T5x is still better for music first right?
of course the baby 8" t5x cannot come close to having the output or extension of the larger 10E but yeah in terms of fidelity REL & Rythmik are in their own world.
Like Toyota, just buy it, knowing the quality and customer service is excellent.
nice, happy to hear you'r enjoying it!!
@ awsome Nemo I knew I could count on you 100% 👍❤️
I have a 10s and was thinking of upgrading to a pair of subs.
@@NemoPropaganda Thanks, I guess I should of thought about contacting them first thing but you got me all excited. Thanks.
The monoprice SW-15 is also 299 and on paper it has more output. Not sure about the reliability though
sooo that one is a bit of a marketing gimmick, heres why: they quote the extension as going down to 30hz but that's at minus 10dB!
You the reason I am ordering today !
no, you should not seal the 12s, plugging the vent on a large vented sub will result in a sealed sub with a giant box and a high Q so it will be very underdamped, generally sounding sloppy and in a worse case scenario a reduction of power handeling that could cause damage.
And I don't have alot room ' I am more in to speed n upper bass punch than how low the sub can go'
I may call them I will tell then you the reasoning I am buying
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 if you need the high level why not just go for the 10s Mk2? That one has high level :). Based on everything you've said I think you will love the 12s so long as the physical size is not an issue, it's freaking big!!!!!!! You can also just use a high to low converter, it's not ideal but it works. ruclips.net/video/rQeYdz7vKqQ/видео.htmlsi=uoU1Z_cPDOTPAzGI
@NemoPropaganda yes I have used those converters before in car stereo ' thanks Nemo
Which would you go for to upgrade a 5.1.2 system which currently uses an SVS SB 1000 pro:
Two of the new 10E subwoofers or
One of the rhythmic LV 10 M ?
@@NemoPropaganda Wow thats crazy, the ASW is pretty outdated in that aspect. Will definitely consider the 10E now. Thanks for your help!
Building my first system I think im going with one of these and 3 of their CG23Ms for the front to start out.
I’ve heard nothing but great things about this company and I’ve only ever had cheap soundbars. I can’t wait to experience something better
nice bro, that's gonna be a nice upgrade!
Great review, thanks!! (Best subs start with an 'R' (RSL - REL - Rythmik.. )) 🤔😄
For home theater, would you do a pair of 10E's or a single 10s mkii in a medium size room? Only asking as the 10s gets lower.
Dual 10E for sure my bro. A couple hz isn’t enough to pass on dual subs.
Thank you! Hope to snag a pair when the next batch are available. I moved my 10s to my 2.1 system and really miss the deep base from my temporary standby sub.
Hey! Would you recommend dual RSL 10Es to pair with dual SVS SB 2000 pro? My considerations compact size, performance, and price.
I'm against mixing brands of subwoofers, it can be done sometimes but generally it's not something I recommend.
I’ll wait for a good deal on the SB 1000 pros, I appreciate the advice
So what is the advantage of a high level input? I have them on my KC62 but do not use them. Am I missing out on something?
if you have an old crappy AVR that has a crappy filtered subout then high level might sound better, if your amp has no preout or subout then high level is another way of getting your subwoofer connected. There's no inherent benifit of high level for the sake of being high level. It all gets converted back to low level inside the subwoofer anyway.
Dang I didn’t know they made an even cheaper version!! Sweet!!!
Would it be good to pair this with a 10s mkii for home theater?
yes, do keep in mind if you push them to the absolute limit the 10E will hit its limit before the 10S, if you can afford to have them match do that but if you can't the 10E will tonally match the 10S no problem.
Any rec’s on how to integrate this if my systems lacking a high / low pass filter?
most of us (myself included) don't use any highpass filter. Just set the sub around the natural inroom roll off of your speakers, play with the phase (pick the one you like more or the louder one) and dial in the gain. Feel free to hop in the free discord if you need anymore help.
I need this! I have a Speedwoofer 12s and frankly it's too darn heavy and takes up too much room.
The 12S is an absolute beast! But I get what you mean, size matters and it has to look good in the room too so if the room is too small a giant sub can dominate the room.
so... two of these, or one Rhythmik lv12m ...?
Don’t you already have a 10s? If you like what u got and want more of it just buy another 10s.

I'll keep my RSL, and save it for my future office system. I just saw this email and was about to come comment like damn this has got to be the subwoofer referenced a few days ago and sure enough here’s the review.
great, now that is an affordable subwoofer sixpack :P
someone quickly review that setup!
Absolutely incredible for the price! And yah the peak numbers marketing is terrible. Even if a lightning strikes your subwoofer it'll probably never hit those peak numbers. That's why the subwoofers with 2000-3000 watt peak numbers still have standard 120 volt setups typically.
Got in the waiting list for this, looking forward to picking it up to replace my Yamaha HTIB sub.
This will be a huge upgrade for you! Enjoy :)
@NemoPropaganda that is very reassuring. Just got notified that they have more stock coming in next week. I am very excited 😊
