Great one again, Paul! I agree that a good lightning setup is the main thing to go for when starting up a RUclips channel. Most of us are on a budget so my recommendation is to go for a Canon EOS M50 for a great beginner's camera system and spend more on the lightning setup. Your setup is an excellent choice! 👍
I am in the process of setting up a guest room as a studio for my son. Great video and great advice. We are on a budget and look forward to watching your reviews of equipment. New subscriber.
@@PaulHeimlund what if I cannot use the 2 ports to the canonm50. I already have a cam link setup for live streaming, is there a way I can still use the external monitor? The canon m50 screen turns off when we live stream thanks!
@@ikillprettythingz7947 I only have an expensive solution (lol), so instead google m50 for streaming. You might need a kind of a mixing board. Hope you find a solution! Let me know how it turns out 😉
Just found your channel... You have made everything so simple for me. You also just confirmed something for me today I was thinking of buying a camera but then I got an idea to first buy good light and hire a camera for now.... You mentioned in the video that light is much more important that made everything clear for me Thank you.... I have subbed
Just found your channel dude! And I must say after watching 10 on your videos you’ve earned a new sub! Amazing videos! Did you say you live in Barcelona? I didn’t know those mountains existed! Is it the pirenees mountains? Your content is awesome man! I’m just starting my RUclips journey and learning so much! Got a canon 80d and a few lenses
Thanks! Great to have you onboard! I live near Barcelona, and yes, the mountains are the eastern Pyrenees, less than 2 hours from Barcelona. Amazing place to live for creators, as the scenery is so varied. Good luck on your RUclips journey and stay tuned for more tips and tricks ;)
Thank you for covering all of this, Paul. Very inexpensive equipment for a high quality video 👌 What hair light did you use in this video? I didn't see it linked below but I like the effect it gives.
Thanks! If you mean tips regarding ligts I’d start with the lights in the video. First the Godox and then a Weeylite. It might seem expensive in the beginning, but these lights are actually quite inexpensive ;)
Nice video homie..stay connected.. me, daughter, wife and son all are dj's... wanna make a studio... thanks for great tips.... Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪💪😉🔥🔥
Thanks! I recommend a newer light than I used in this video: iFootage SL1 60DN (link in description). Check out my review of it if you want to. Should be around $200. Hope this helps ;)
Great video! But I would like to ask, how do you get around audio echo? I am trying to setup my own home studio in a small room, but I’m worried about echoing while recording, and advice or tips would be greatly appreciated 👍👌
Get some acoustic foam stick it to your walls or and ceiling this is a cheap easy way to get rid of echo in your room! Can get it cheap on Amazon aswell 👍 a cheaper alternative is hangin blankets from the ceiling (out of shot) this will stop noise from bouncing off the walls.
Hi, I got lights based on your other video recommendation. I am not getting same bright and even key light effect with godox 60 and softbox. Can you share how far and at what angle have you setup the key light (godox one) ? Is it 30 degree in front around 6ft from face? Thanks
Hey! I have the light and softbox as close to me as possible. If you’re not getting enough light, it might be your lens not being fast enough. If I shoot with a f2.8 lens I have to set the Godox to 100%. However, if I use a f1.8 or faster I set it at around 50-60%. I try to keep the angle at 30-45 degrees. How fast is your lens?
@@PaulHeimlund thanks..my lens are f3.5 -5.6 .. so I am guessing there is something wrong with my camera settings/location itself. Do you have a video on rough camera settings/placement you use?
Same here. I have the Godox SL60W with a big 120cm softbox and a honeycomb grid. But it does a terrible job, as my farthest eye from the light is so dark and dull (no catchlight) you'd think it's dead. Im starting to think that maybe 60 watts simply isnt powerful enough. Anyways, I sure wish I could have both eyes nicely lit with catchlight in both eyes just like Paul manages to do.
Thanks! I’m using a black paper backdrop, 3x11meters. As the package of these rolls are so big, you have to find a local provider. Search for black paper photography background in your area and see what you can find ;)
I have been having a problem with the Elgato prompter software it stops at (Connect a devise) , Elgato company NEVER answer the phones and return their email in three days ., Worst customer service
Hiya, the key light you've linked here goes to another Godox one (UL150 LED Silent video) . Is this an updated version or should I search for the Godox SL-60W? Thanks. :)

Thanx Paul great content well presented. Would you recommend the neewer Nl 660or what light s do u recommend thanx
Sure! The Neewer is a good light to start with. If you need stronger lights, check out the Godox or Sokani. Links in video description ;)
I happen to have the canon R6 and the Sony fx3. Which one will give me better image quality?
Both are great cameras and will give you fantastic images. Technically the Sony might be a bit better ;)
Thx great stuff. 👍 I don't have much space in the back so how so I place these lights.
You could place them on the floor and light the background like that 😊
