Looking at the thumbnail, I've just had an interesting thought... when it's in it's spider form, it's face doesn't really resemble TotK's Ganondorf, but is pretty similar to Twilight Princess' version. What if Calamity Ganon is the hatred of the _latter_ version of Ganondorf made manifest instead of the newer one?
So I haven't read much on the concepts of the game, but I am a HUGE nerd on Zelda lore. From what I understand, Calamity Ganon isn't necessarily Gonon's incarnation this time, just an off-shoot. I think that he doesn't look like Ganondorf or Ganon because it isn't really them. Just a sentient form of what was then the calamitous material now confirmed to be Gloom.
@@tylerallison9735 Yeah, that's the best explanation of it post-TotK, though I still prefer the Master Works explanation of it being Ganon having lost his mind and become an eldrtich horror over the many cycles of resurrection and defeat he's endured.
@twinzzlers That's true, but Hyrule Historia does establish that TP Ganondorf's resentment has manifested independently alongside another Ganon in Four Swords Adventures, so it could possibly happen again, especially if that resentment had access to the well of malice that was ToTK Ganondorf's mummified body.
