    the sad thing about the sos thing, is that in Revali's version it starts after a longer time than the others. probably bc he's stubborn and think he can do it on his own, but later realises he NEEDS Link.

      I wait late game to do any of the main dungeons, Revali is always the last since I like to fill my stamina wheel before hearts and I enjoy the aspect of traveling across all of Hyrule by horse, climbing, and gliding. I feel bad for Revali since the English-speaking fandom hates him without knowing that most of his translations are wrong. For example, in the original Japanese, Revali fully admits that he was in the wrong and recognizes that Link is their key to defeating Ganon. Also in his ‘don’t be cocky just because you did your job’ line, he actually said ‘I suppose you’ve done a fine job’. Really wish the translators kept his original character

    Fun fact about the SOS music thing: The SOS all happen at different times in their fights, and I’ve heard theories that it’s representing the different times the champions realized they can’t defeat the calamity - with Revalis coming in way later than any of the others. Knowing his personality, it’s more than likely, if this theory is to be believed, that he didn’t want to admit he needed help, but in the end, called for it anyways - but, as we know, it was in vain. This is of course just a theory I’ve heard, but still - it’s interesting, isn’t it?

What if it represents the urgency that everyone at the castle felt during the calamity? Realizing they would die right there. Fighting till they fall. You can also hear marching in both of the Hyrule Castle themes. The marching is easier to hear when you’re outside of the castle I believe. Even still I believe it’s Zelda’s heartbeat. the implications of their SOSs and Zelda's heart problems is certainly chilling, I wonder if the later will come up in the second part since issues with your heart can cause lasting damage. As for the SOSs it probably means the Champions were all conscious for 100 years of their divine beasts killing their people.... And the opposite ear sound is probably Ganon's influence so the dual sided audio is to infer that the Champions are still actively fighting back in spirit that whole time.

    The fact that people are still uncovering easter eggs about this game almost 5 years later just shows how much thought the developers put into this revolutionary game. From the music to the map and dialogue, it shows that everything was thought through and put there for a reason. It wasn't just a game, but an experience, one that will remain in my heart forever. Coming from the music world, I think when the composer mentioned the dulcimer, he meant the hammered dulcimer - which plays a central role in the Wind Waker soundtrack along with the mandolin. Not many people play the traditional dulcimer, but the hammered dulcimer is one of the more popular instruments in fantasy game scores, making an appearance in almost all of the city themes in Skyrim and often handling melodic duties in fantasy game & film scores.

  • @lundylow
    @lundylow 2 года назад +5

    I heard a theory about how you can hear an S.O.S. distress call in the background of the all Divine Beasts' soundtracks. I'd love a deep dive on that.
    The theory is that when the signal goes into effect reflects when each Champion decided to ask for help while they were fighting the Blights.
    "I need help now!"
    "I got this! ...No wait, I don't got this, help!"
    "I know the other Champions need help before I do, help them first!"
    Edit: Oh my goodness I'm dumb. I clicked away from the video literally JUST before you talked about this exact thing. My bad!

    I went ahead and checked how Tumbo counts in Japanese: He says:「ワン ツー さん よん… ご!」, which literally is "One Two San Yon Go!". So he's just mixing languages but there's no easter egg there. Thus, I really like what the different languages did. In French he sounds like a very young child full of innocence and enthusiasm repeating "frog" after each count, in Spanish he's reciting some kind of nursery rhyme, and in German he's counting like his race might usually do based on their lore. So cool!
    By the way, the name "Tumbo" is supposed to be a play on "Tempo". In Japanese, he's called ポンテ (they switched two characters; the word for tempo is テンポ). In French, he's called Pemto (which is equivalent; they switched two letters). In Italian, Potem (they switched two syllables, which is like Japanese). In German, Tembo (which is close b/p). In English, I'm not quite sure that they got it. And in Spanish, it's "Rudan" (either they completely missed it or I don't get it).

    Speaking of soundtracks, did you know that every "Attack on Divine Beast" Theme (except for Vah Rudania i guess) you can hear a melody that seems to be a conversarion between the champion and his successor, for example, in Attack on Vah Ruta you can hear first a high melody and when it ends the same melody plays again with lower notes with a fast melody on the ground, for me that represents Mipha on the first high part and Sidon with Link on the second lower melody, the same thing happens with Vah Medoh and Vah Naboris. Could it have been intentional or it just me oventhinking?

    Medoh’s SOS is interesting because it’s the loudest and clearest- but also is later in the song than the other three. It implies Revali sent his SOS more desperately after realizing how hopeless fighting Windblight alone was.
