    I had saved my first horse, Puddles, from his Bokoblin jockey. We both saw Kakariko Village, Hateno Village, and so many other locations together. He was my first and only horse. I didn’t take him to Hyrule Castle in fear that he would get hurt. Imagine my surprise when I’m teleported out to face Ganon, one last time, and there’s Puddles, faithfully waiting. Absolute Legend.

    Zelda: “He’s given up reincarnation to reach his most chaotic form!”
    Ganondorf in BOTW2: “Well Yes, but actually, no-“

    • @amanofnoreputation2164
      @amanofnoreputation2164 3 года назад +157

      This needs some clarification.
      Ganon is the reincarnation of the dark god Demise. He cannot be destroyed.
      To give up reincarnation in this case means that he has given up taking on a physical human form and has instead emerged as a spirit entity.

    • @coldfusion1679
      @coldfusion1679 3 года назад +67

    This is actually really genius. I don't know if it was intentional, but for the first minute or so (and beyond for some parts), it's as if two songs are battling for the spotlight; the normal battle theme remixed with the castle theme, and the main theme. It's like the battle theme is Ganon and the Main theme is Link.

      i’m very late to this but after a lot of thinking, i got the impression that the piano is representative of ganon, whereas every other instrument is symbolising hyrule. The main theme that plays behind the piano in this, which also plays when you behold hyrule as link for the first time, sound as if though its fighting the piano, an outside source. A battle between hyrule and calamity ganon.

    I swear to god this song makes me feel Link's emotions and hear his thoughts as he goes through all of this. Imagine hearing about a 'you' from 100 years ago, wondering if you are the same as him, if you are better or worse, if you're living up to everyone's expectations of him. Before sleeping by a fire, you wonder about it every night. Can you do this? Can you save her? Can you really defeat this brewing evil that has been waiting for this moment for 100 years? Everything Link has had to put up with is unleashed here. He's had to go through having this responsibility from a past him thrown onto his shoulders, knowing his past friends are dead, having to see their faces again, though they're transparent, battling the monsters that killed them, knowing they're only an ounce of the final enemy's strength and anger. To finally end the monster that took everything takes away the stress that was slowly breaking Link.
    This song truly is one of the best in gaming history and should be remembered.

The thing is, that everyone tells you at the start of the game not to go against Ganon yet. And you follow the advise, and start growing stronger and stronger. So, by the time you finally go against Ganon you are so well prepared that it may seem easy. But try to kill him with bad armour, not enough food, bad weapons that break preatty easy, no help from the chosen ones, no master sword... I can´t even imagine myself doing that

    The ending gives me serious chills every time.
    The melody repeats itself as the eye opens on the beast of ganon: his very core. You then move Link with your controller for the last time, jumping from your horse and into the air. Link draws an arrow in the bow of light with the champions unseen, but present. That moment turns into the moment of truth. Every hour you put into the game led up to that moment.
    You then release the ZR button, and you defeat Ganon at last.
    Link may be just a nintendo character, but the story and journey you went through together barely seems fiction.

But taking the time to really understand the music has been its own journey. You get the chance to fully understand Links emotions throughout the battle. Ganon’s unrelenting, firelike rage in the piano is fully demonstrated throughout the piece. Link and Zelda’s battle for light in the strings. Beautiful. The depth of this game and this piece is something special. Tears of the Kingdom is one week away, I hope it delivers just as it’s predecessor did.

    I think of it as the cries of 100 years finally coming to an end, the suffering of thousands along with Link's closest friends pleading for him to finish it all and save them, avenge them.. its hard to explain the actual feeling I get, but the emotion of a century of absolute torment, finally free to rest since the calamity is now stopped.

    Everyone is mad this fight was easy. I think the point was to make a fight that felt fluid and epic. It doesn't have to be hard to HIT you hard. The final boss of Shadow Of The Colossus (a game that is only Boss fights) is much easier than the other bosses. You dodge his magic attack which is easy if you know what you're doing, and then the ascent to his head is simple, easy, and painless. The other colosi thrash and attack and scream while you're on them, while the final Colossus simply looks on curiously at what you may be doing on him. His vicious attacks and threatening stature are taken down by his docile behavior. However this fight is the most powerful of all. The moving music and somber tone is as amazing as it should be. The final music and the fact your trusty steed accompany you in the final fight against Ganon make for an atmospheric experience. Hearing the theme we'd been teased with for 5 years played with the same piano that accompanied us the whole game playing fast and triumphant should be satisfying you people. And keep in mind the DLC pack is a whole new story line. Calamity Ganon may not even be the FINAL boss. The ending is a sort of cliff hanger.

      I agree with you cus i felt the same ...the fight felt, yes, easy as all would like to say, but also quite epic, and you forgot to mention that this part has the best line that Zelda says in the entire game, a very quotable one and also, the way she helps you is quite important for the story and serves to settle more her character. And that's without mentioning how they make you use the slow mo for the final shot directly to the head, sealing the deal with shear epicness.

    This piece is so amazing. From Ganon’s theme in the bass to Link represented in the main theme, and, as I see it, Zelda in the occasional flute. The piano sounds like it represents the fierce battle. The key change in the middle of the song sounds triumphant, Link and Zelda are winning the fight, you can barely get Ganon in the bass anymore. The transition to the final repeating notes, all the turmoil in the song is gone, it’s time to end it, and you can hear a note that’s reminiscent of the tone that Zelda’s power creates. And when you finally lease that arrow, the music stops, all you hear is the ring of Zelda’s power, overcoming Ganon’s malice, till silence, and a white screen.
    It’s over.
    This song, and this game, is beautiful.

      The high pitched note that repeats itself definitely represents how Zelda is about to burst the moment that arrow of light strikes the eye, but also you can hear the bass in the back and it kinda shows how Ganon might finally realize he’s lost

    I really love how this starts off with terror in the presence of Ganon, then we hear the piano fade in. This reminds Link that he must win, then there is the battle kicking off (Link realizing, this will be the final fight) its perfect Link going from terrorized to adrenaline pumping to on his toes ready to fight. This truly does capture Links bravery and terror at the same time. Also I love how at the end it gets faster and more suspenseful (Link now determined to defeat Ganon, knowing he will) I know the triforce of courage isn't used but this embodies courage at its finest, being scared on the inside but overcoming that fear. btw the roars of the beast in the background bring you to the setting.

    My favorite reference in Botw is the final battle of Dark Beast Ganon, and the overall musicality of the song. At the very beginning it introduces such a "dark beat" that is consistent all the way through. The song truly begins with it's reference to the field battle theme with the piano solo, then transitions into the game's main theme, but with a twist. I can't say for sure if it is, but I'm pretty confident the main theme in the battle was written in a minor key, to give the "world is ending" type feel the song. In addition, it has a piano harmony referencing riding a horse throughout the overworld. In the middle of the piece it "slows down" a bit for a peaceful motif using the flutes' solo, reminding the player of the peacefulness they are fighting for. To top it all off, the song transitions to Ganondorf's main theme, reminding the player it truly is the fight for Hyrule.
    This is only phase one though, transition into phase two and the song introduces a heroic motif. The song becomes a smaller loop of the main theme, but back in a major key like it was written for. It still contains the piano harmony of riding the horse and suspenseful "dark beat" from the very first note performed, yet it introduces the heroic trumpets in the background to rise the player's morale. "I can do this! Hyrule can win!" That is what I believe this sounds like.
    Then to the final phase of shooting the classic eyeball, a short simple tune to top the entire battle off, with Zelda's Lullaby being partially used in this theme, a reference to her holding Ganon back for a hundred years.
    Dark Beast Ganon's theme I feel is a masterpiece, and an underrated one. Many references coming together to create a piece of music that represents the battle for Hyrule. Unfortunately I don't feel like the battle itself truly lived up to its piece, which may be why this piece of music is so underrated.

    I just imagine, people of all corners of hyrule waking to the divine beasts launching their attack, seeing the castle hit and seeing dark beast ganon on hyrule field. The very being that brought hyrule to ruin 100 years ago and continued too after. Just an overall epic scene and fight to experience

    My interpretation: the ending sounds unfinished, like it's missing the last notes to a contending end. I think it reflects how link's battle with Ganon is not yet finished either (hence BoTW2). Pretty cool foreshadowing for people to pick up on.
