For real. This was the only time playing a video game where I've ever had that experience and it was incredible and something I will always remember and cherish. Having never beaten a LoZ game before until TotK, I can attest to the music still having this nostalgic and climactic feel even to newcomers to the franchise like me. It's genuinely magical.
I knew quite a bit of stuff going into TOTK since I got it late What I didn't know was that the bosses could be found in the Depths, so that was a nice surprise
I sadly did the wind temple after doing like 60 or 70 shrines, and had a ton of bomb flowers, so I cheesed this fight pretty bad on my first playthrough. But then in my second playthrough I went straight to the Wind Temple as soon as I could, and did it the "right" way. I was not disappointed. It's so cool that you can defeat this boss with no weapons whatsoever.
That's how I beat Colgera.I thought that was how you where supposed to beat the wind temple boss. Then I realized at the end of the fight. Wait I could have just used arrows when he attacks up. No regrets. Loved the battle. I go into to depths to find other ways to fight Colgera and to hear this epic track again.
It reflects the warmth you feel when you first hear the theme in Breath of the Wild with a sharp, cold feeling that runs down your spine, it’s awesome.
It's also big for us older Zelda fans, because it's the theme of Dragon Roost Island from Wind Waker, the place where the Rito were introduced for the first time.
The whole trip to the wind temple and the wind temple itself had such an absurd musical progression as you got closer to this utter masterpiece. The wind temple for this reason is definitely my fave
the complete silent at the top of the tornado is such a satisfying “calm before the storm” moment matching the whole visual that you’re so high up there’s no wind here
YASSSSSSSS, I PLAYED WIND WAKER ALL THE TIME BACK IN THE 2KS, EVEN THE DEMO VERSION. And Rito island had the most entrancing theme of all, I instantly fell in love with it. And WHEN IT JUST BLASTED DURING THIS FIGHT??? I seriously was feeling alot of things at once. I went into ultra instinct mode to fight the boss even better, supercharged happiness from the flood of nostalgia, tearing up as I began singing along to the tune in reverence...hf it was a magical moment. I think at this point you could save me from a coma/amnesia just by playing that cord.
@@nickythedimensionhopper5160I never had any nostalgia for wind water because I’m a dumb lil 2009 baby, but the music was just an adrenaline shot to push me through the fight, glad to know I wasn’t the only one!
If you’re a long time fan, it’s at times like 6:52 when you come to realize and fully become aware that you are playing Zelda and no other game. What a moment indeed the first time that beat kicked in ❤
I didn't grow up with the Dragon Roost Island theme and it still gave me the hard "I will win" feels immediately. My first zelda game was Ocarina of Time but Dragon Roost Island had a HUGE impact for me in that game.
The entire Tulin Sage arc was spectacular in its musical compositions. The muted version of Rito Village, the sounds of the wind instruments simulating the sounds of buffeting gales as you ascend higher and higher to the Stormwind Ark, how pieces of Vah Medoh and Revali's theme could be heard while exploring to unlock more locks in the gate, and of course, this theme. Nintendo really knocked it out of the park with this region.
I was wondering why it seemed Nintendo wanted me to do the Rito dungeon first. It’s the only one that can be seen from basically anywhere on the map, almost every NPC mentions it the moment you leave the island, it’s really obvious they want it to be first. After hearing the musical suite for the dungeon though, I figured it out.
i THINK the flute represents tulin and ofc the saxophone represents link, theres portions where the 2 are played duetting and then the menacing sounding instruments represent colgera or colgate
@@modcon-based113The Flute is the wind as it is a wind instrument. Notice how the wind is both calm and frantic? Frantic in the whirlwind. Calm as you ascend to the eye of the storm. The Saxophone represents you reaching the apex of the eye, then descending, crashing into the boss. Since you can skydive right through the weak points.
I like how well it synched up with how I was playing, it felt cinematic AF how well the music went with everything I was doing and with Tulin encouraging me to act.
OOHG I just realized- Tulin's the flute. (duh, I mean- flutesong is the Rito village's main theme, so tracks that a Rito would be musically represented by a flute, but stay with me here) the third phase theme is definitely the most triumphant one- we start to hear less of that panicked tremolo rise-and-fall that sounds like some kind of calamitous storm, and start to hear the flute come through. It's still racing, though, quick paced and jumping all over the place- fast and small, desperately trying to keep up with everything, to prove itself. the first time the main Rito/Dragon Roost Isle theme crescendos upwards, it does so *without the flute*- almost stepping on its toes, the main rito theme interrupts the flute's melody before we dive back into that quick, racing flute theme- young Tulin is still operating separate from the village, attempting to do things on his own. the second time, though, something changes- the flute rises up WITH the rito theme, a part of the same melody, lifted aloft by the same voices that make up the village. Tulin has realized he cannot achieve his goals and requires those around him, and Link, to save his village. INCREDIBLE thematic storytelling and I adore that this is both an incredible piece of music and a reinforcement of the central themes of the story as well!
I’ve had my own little alt universe brewing around in my head where the 100 years ago champions survived and the shrine of resurrection wasn’t needed and the upheaval happened with the original champions. Working together would also be very good character development for revali.
Revali is probably watching Link from way above and knowing that he can’t help and wishing he could fight Colgera, but having to rely on his rival to fight for Rito Village
@@woolgatherer1196 ngl he isn't a real douche as he finally acknowledges link and is fine with him. he acted dat way cus he was tryna communicate to a boy who didn't talk.
@@thedukeconiosantiago9180, that doesn't give him an excuse to be a jerk, in my opinion. I do see where you are coming from, though. Revali becomes... tolerable at the end (once he realized he had to accept Link's help and that he really wasn't as skilled as he thought).
I feel like a younger developer insisted that the rito segment be chock full of homages to ww, knowing and remembering the original ww would be/turned 20 years old this year. We didn't get a port, but this was a sort of an apology and they paid respect to ww. Tulin is ww link for all intents and purposes. They share a couple similarities. They think they can take on the world by themselves. For ww link, it was saving his sister on his own. They both didn't believe in the stories everyone else heralded as truth. Tulin is basically what link probably wished he had been from the beginning: a trained warrior who was proud to come of age instead of dreading it.
I'm so sad how many people DONT catch the Molgera theme! As soon as I heard 4:18-4:39 during the fight I *knew* it was referencing it, and that this boss was based on Molgera! But people usually just hear the Dragon Roost theme. Such a shame, since the Molgera theme is the best boss theme from Wind Waker 🥹
@@llee_gg exactlyyyyy. I wish more people could pick it out!! I love that every one acknowledges the Dragon Roost moment but I still wish more could hear the Molgera style return
For all of us (like myself) that went after this temple first, it was a hell of way to kick start your very first playthrough 🥹 an amazing first time experience 👏
The surge of emotions I felt when the Dragon Roost/Rito Village theme hit was so overwhelming. I was teary eyed yet energized and in the zone. Brought back such fond memories of playing Wind Waker in 2003
I freaking love this track. It combines motifs from Molgera’s theme and the Rito/Dragon Roost theme of Wind Waker, strings going up and down to represent wind, wind instruments for melodies, descending trills for the snow/hail being whipped around by the blizzard generated by this creature, and to cap it off those haunting reversed zonai chants to tie it all back to the main quest. This track not only fits Colgera, Scourge of the Wind Temple perfectly, it can apply to literally nothing else. Beautifully done.

6:30 is when it gets sooo good. like i actually feel inspired when i listen past this point. when you can hear all the rito ancestors singing the song in the background
The sad part is you don't get to hear this in its entire glory due to the fight being so short lived. You either wipe the floor with it or it wipes the floor with you
A way to fight with Colgera is to NOT use your bow. Otherwise it goes too quickly, so if you are like me who rebattles Colgera because you want to enjoy the music. I reccomend you only dive through the weak points
@@zekromtrainer1222I didn’t know you were supposed to use the bow until I saw videos of other people fighting it. I just dove into the weak points. That’s how I got to listen to this masterpiece in its entirety.
When I saw that dragon coming out of the portal, I remember my brother saying "I'm almost crying, this is so Zelda!" Indeed, making me feel like a 7-year-old kid since 1998 (even though the game came out on my 3rd anniversary). Thank you, Eiji-Sama

Beating Colgera without arrows makes it even more epic. I would purposefully wait for it to launch the icicles just so I could dodge them as I crashed through it at Mach 2
I legit thought diving was the only way to damage Colgera, I hadn't even considered arrows because I saw cracked ice under the spikes. And to me, cracked ice means skydive and crash.
@@7PlayingWithFire7i did my first time and beat him in like 2 min.but when i found him again in the depths and had no arrows i freaking brain stormed and beating him was EXTRA FUN
True I wish it had like 4-6 phases so we got more time to appreciate it. As is, it's probably the easiest(requiring no weapons at all to beat) besides depths gohma. Definitely the most cinematic tho
It wasn't over way too fast at all lol what. It went on for just as long as you'd expect a boss to, not to mention it's the first boss. Unless you cheesed the fight or something which I'm guessing you did, the boss is a perfect length.
@@sqished Dude no, it's the first boss they should never have that many phases. It's the easiest of the bosses cause it's the first boss lmao that's to be expected from any game. Yeah i wish in master mode they can remaster the bosses a bit especially colgera. Second to queen gibdo for my favorite boss but they definitely should have made it harder.

I love the look Link gives Tulin in this image. He’s like, “Light work, no reaction. We got this.” And Tulin might as well have said “LETS FUCKING GOOOO”
I love the fact that these temples (I’ve only been to two) reference previous themes, you can hear bits of attack on Vah Medoh whilst going through the wind temple and wind waker references for the boss, but with the water temple you can hear bits of attack on vah ruta and a little less in that one’s boss fight
I'm gonna be honest. Everything about this fight is epic, the set piece, the boss design, the music. So epic the rest of the temples just pale in comparison. I wish they could be as epic as this.
Right? The slow ascent into the Stormwind Ark, and how the musical motif establishes itself with every inch upward you go--and that descent into the Ark itself, the confrontation with this horrible beast Colgera freezing the Rito to death, choking the fields with blankets of snow, sucking in clean air and expelling typhoons. Only in video games can you saddle a tornado and ride it like a stallion on your way to murder a god.
This may very well be the best theme in all of the Zelda games. The way it is built off the og classic piece to add the nostalgia, and the wind instruments which personally I am a huge fan of, plus the amazing progression of intensity until it peaks with a call back to dragon roost island, the first settlement of the rito people, leaving you awestruck with chills. I’m seriously in love
This is my background music whenever I get caught up in petty drama online. Like you could call me to mediate a conflict and this will be playing in the background
All of this game's boss themes are bangers. I personally like the Mucktorok theme the best because of how it crossfades but the fight itself is annoying so Colgera takes the cake overall.
@@frederickglass1583right!!??!! it was so annoyign but colgeras was so fun. i preferred tje mini boss fight with the little fuckin worm thing i forgor the name to.
Music tracks with multiple phases like this have become one of my favourite concepts ever since Breath of the Wild, it's a subtle yet powerful way to make the player feel waves of emotions as the track progresses. In the case of this song, with all the motifs coming in from other tracks like Dragonroost island, Rito Village etc. make it feel like as the battle's progressing you're being empowered by the franchise's past, thrusting you into a wave of nostalgia as you remember the first time you sounded your Ocarina, discovered a new island at sea or dove off a ledge to be swooped up by your bird friend. Zelda is truly the most inspired franchise in gaming history and I can't wait to see what adventures they take us on next.
I could honestly write a whole mini-essay on why the Rito Phenomenon was my favorite of the 4. Spoilers ahead. For starters, it's perfectly geared to a first playthrough, kinda like Vah Medoh in Breath of the Wild. You're heavily pointed towards it, and the phenomenon being basically a constant ice storm threatening to starve the village of resources and food was actually kinda intense. The ice theme of the Rito Village gave me chills. The fact that only Link is even able to get there because of the fallen bridge and the large amount of flying with the paraglider makes you feel alone. I also love how the rito kids actually grew up and took on responsibilities from the adults to help out. They take over the previous shop owners and inn keepers until you beat Colgera. The actual adults had no choice but to leave to forage for food, and Tulin being grown up and skilled was really cool. Teba becoming the elder was also nice to see, with the previous elder retiring in the archer's area with a minigame. Looking for Tulin was pretty fun with the many little side quests to help out the adults, and having Tulin be the sage you first try is great, because it's very simple and effective. My absolute favorite part was just getting to the wind temple. The area music was really intense, and actually got even crazier the higher you went. It also took a long time, but also never felt dull or boring despite the intense journey. And finally dropping from above, so high up, into the wind temple, was nothing short of badass. The Wind Temple had great puzzles, the music referenced BotW's soundtrack with the Rito, and the Colgera fight is great because you don't even need weapons to beat him. You can just dive into the weak spots, and Tulin helps with this a lot. Being an archer is the only other way though, but that makes sense because Tulin is an archer. Yeah, out of the 4 phenomenon, Rito was done amazingly. It's a shame it was first because it gave me high expectations for the others. Gerudo was great with the apocalyptic vibes and war planning, and even getting to Gerudo Town was difficult but rewarding. I also loved the gibdos. The puzzle to get to the temple was a little boring and felt anti-climatic. The puzzles in the temple were probably the best though, and Queen Gibdo was a fun boss fight. Death Mountain was an easy trek to the city because the lava was now restricted to the depths and caves, but the phenomenon being that the very kind and hard working Gorons became lazy assholes was honestly kind of genius in a way. Yunobo basically becoming a drug lord was very unexpected, but the mini boss fight with him was great. Especially with the *Clearly not himself* tag, that was great. The journey to the peak of Death mountain was a little more boring this time, but the glider section was fun, and the Fire temple was pretty great too. The boss fight was alright. Zora... might be my least favorite sadly. I fucking love Zora's domain, and the phenomenon being polluted water was pretty cool, as well as the journey to the domain. Sidon is the best sage character wise, but his ability was a little boring. Yona being his fiancee and Dorephan being injured were pretty interesting events. Especially when I just stumbled into Dorephan's resting area, I wasn't even looking for him, but I found him and it was unexpectedly great. The puzzle to begin the journey to the water temple was actually really cool. Going with Sidon up with the low gravity was pretty fun. The Water temple had decent puzzles, but didn't really feel like a temple compared to the other 3. And the boss fight was the most boring. Oh, and I don't think this really counts, (MAJOR SPOILERS BTW), but the quest to find Mineru as the 5th sage was pretty cool. Especially the many puzzles to get her construct limbs to help build the construct, that was great.
I had to skip the last half of your mini essay because I haven't gotten there quite yet, but I TOTALLY agree with what I could read! Nintendo did the Rito some justice in this game, which is warranted because I felt a little let down with their quest in BOTW. Well said, my friend!
I agree. Really had a ton of expectations for the rest as well, since this was extremely fine. Most of them were good, second fav was the Lightning temple, but the Wind one, even the ascending to the Wind temple felt like part of the temple itself, since it's in the wind. Also, Tulin as a sage is broken. He saved me at least 20 times in all the game, just because of the headshots, and his ability is really intuitive. The wind temple was what I expected, slightly easy. The boss, however, was really easy, but fun. It would have been amazing that after ending it, it had a final stage, where he's heading down to the Rito village and you have to crush it before it arrives, or something more challenging, but not impossible. Anyways, it's quite an adventure. My least favorite was the water temple as well. The boss sucks, it's annoying. It would have been amazing if the entrance to the water temple was in the skies, and that you have to go downwards a special waterfall and that's the access to it. It would have been even better if it was like the one in twilight princess, where you can swim, and Sidon can protect you as well, but I know the game had limitations (and still became one of my favorite games of all times). But the music, omg, the music nailed it. Many people complain about lack of music, well, I complain about their lack of hearing 😛 horse ride's music is really subtle, you can hear it with headphones and be chilling, traveling through all of Hyrule with that subtle music is extremely relaxing. And well, this boss fight OST is just... wow. No words, really.
For me climbing up to wind temple was the best part, along with the boss being my favorite in the whole game. The setting was so good I had to take a couple screenshots. The wind temple puzzles were alright but not as good as some others. I’d say it’s my 2nd favorite really good. Water temple was really underwhelming, but Sidon is a fun character and the quest to get up to the water temple had some cool set pieces. The puzzles in the water temple felt slow because of the low gravity and weren’t challenging at all, and the boss was annoying but was somewhat redeemed by the low gravity. My favorite part was watching the boss shrivel up and explode when you beat it lol. Probably my least favorite but it’s still good. The whole fire temple quest was fantastic, all 3 bosses were fun but easy, and death mountain is just a fun place to mess around and use Yunobo. Best part was definitely the actual fire temple, being inside death mountain is awesome and having easily the most fun puzzles with the mine carts opening paths to higher or lower floors. Probably my favorite out of all of them and it helps that I love lava levels. Lightning temple quest was really cool, the gibdos along with the sandstorm made the whole place kinda eerie. The wave battles against the gibdos were pretty cool, but the mirror puzzle could have been better. Best part was the lightning temple itself, it was very fun to solve the puzzles and fighting the boss once outside and again at the end of the temple made it a lot cooler especially how hard the boss is. 4th favorite but I still really liked it. I ended up doing spirit temple before lightning temple by just flying into the center of the stormy cloud which actually made it so much cooler. Building the mech felt like a mega shrine puzzle with how much you had to use ultra hand which is great, and the boss was pretty funny and cool. I later cleared the clouds as intended and it was cool. It was my 3rd favorite. TLDR 1. Fire 2. Wind 3. Spirit 4. Lightning 5. Water
Two things: first of all, I just learned there's a way to fight Colgera without archery. I'm not kidding XD I feel a little stupid for never trying, but I mean, I had arrows, it worked well, it was fun, just kinda... didn't feel the need to try anything else? But at the same time, it's TOTK. Of course if I had tried something else, it would have worked :D And also, regarding the discussion of the 4 phenomena, something I wanna throw out there - I love how the 4 phenomena are: weather condition threatening the way of life/lives of the population, weather condition threatening the way of life/lives of the population, environmental pollution threatening the way of life/lives of the population, and ...crippling addiction XD one of these things is not like the others! ...not a problem at all, but it's just really funny to me how much of an "outlier" that one is imo XD
I bested Colgera during the Rito quest line using arrows and bullet time. Then I re-encountered it in the Depths, and yeah, this thing is so much easier just skydiving through the weak points.
This was easily my favorite boss fight in the game, both because of the music and the gameplay. I loved how it uses the glider mechanics in a creative way to create an entirely new form of combat, and I was enjoying diving through the weak spots so much that I didn't even notice that it's underside was exposed until I was almost done, and I just immediately decided to not bother even testing if it was vulnerable to arrows from below since I felt that the way I'd been doing it was more fun anyways. Since I went to the Rito first, I ended up being somewhat disappointed that none of the other main sage storyline bosses used mechanics in a creative way like this and were instead focused on just using a sages ability repeatedly to render the boss vulnerable. Moragia kinda did some unique stuff by having you fly around it with a zonai device, but it's not the main boss of that storyline, it's a super short fight, and it still ultimately boils down to "use a Sage's ability repeatedly". The only bosses I enjoyed anywhere near as much as Colgera were the first three Kohga fights. I probably would have enjoyed the last fight with him more if I hadn't already faced the Seized Construct, and would have enjoyed both more if Mineru didn't feel so clunky to control.
Putting a hydrant+shock emitter on a roomba and having it chase muctorock was probably my second favorite boss fight after colgera. I made a disco ball for Queen Gibdo, which doesn't work well for the depths rematches and marbled Ghoma is...... there. The music for all of them is great though.
I have a glorious sensation that boss battles are now so more EPIC. Like, they have the right mood for a great adventure climax. BOTW soundtrack was already astonishing, but HEAR THIS TUNE!!! The battle full of ups and downs, flying, facing a huge weird crystalized bug inside a hurricane with flying boats surrounding the scene. HOW COULD THEM?!?!
At 6:10 I had NO idea why it sounded so familiar when I played this fight the first time. Then I heard it again on a tiktok video and it hit me- the dragon roost theme from wind waker! (Though I didn't know it was called that) The last time I heard this I was four years old, watching my older brother play Wind Waker. We both really like music and whenever he got to rito village or any other place with really cool music in a game he'd sit and wait for the entire track to play so we could listen it. God, this brought back memories. I am about to be 21 years old and he's married with his own son now. It's been a long time! But I hope he also recognizes this song when he has time to play it himself.

I just can't get enough of this theme, even after so many rematches against it. The dungeon design, the leitmotif, the atmosphere, and the fact that we're doing it with a Rito really makes this a love letter to the Wind Waker fans
A little after 4:15 if you listen closely you can actually hear Ganondorf’s theme. To me, the juxtaposition with the swift wind instrument/violin runs symbolizes how Ganondorf sent the storm to ravage the Rito so, so well. Yet ANOTHER reason why this might be one of my favorite TOTK tracks
EDIT: I just realeased a new song! Have you heard it? ruclips.net/video/8EQxfDYKycc/видео.htmlsi=QHk8vf-jLjqh8nyE This has got to be the best piece of music to come out of any Zelda game. I love it so much, I had to share it with you all!
Its nowhere near the best, but the thing I love about it, is the mixed in old music from older games! There is alot of mixed old music in BotW and TotK, but in this piece particularly, its done extremely well.
I was about half way through this fight before I almost lost because I just wanted to hear the soundtrack. I'm not sure yet, but I think it's my new favorite Zelda song.
This theme is one of the best boss themes I’ve ever heard in my history of playing video games! This music is magnificent whoever composed this deserves a gold star!

Wind waker was my first ever zelda game, and hearing part of dragon roosts theme in rito villages theme was an amazing touch, and adding rito village/dragon roost islands theme was an awesome touch to this song. The composer outdid themselves
The Rito Village questline is my favorite one in TOTK; it wouldn't be remotely the same without the absolutely outstanding soundtrack pieces. It really felt like that whole section was a beautifully written love letter to Wind Waker, while still being entirely fresh and original, and even more grand. I really really hope Nintendo keeps including these awesome WW homages in the future. Also this song makes me tear up??

What I really love about this is how in BOTW when fighting Windblight Ganon, you hear notes reminiscent of Rito Village and Kass’ theme in the song and it really makes you feel like you’re fighting for the justice of a Rito warrior (which you are) and it’s similar in TOTK. You hear notes reminiscent of Rito village and Dragon Root Island from Wind Waker, it makes you feel like your fighting for the survival of the Rito. You get a similar feeling as when you fought Windblight in BOTW. Truly such a beautiful game with so many emotions told in a single song.

Never before has the concept of "Let me play you the song of my people!" been so epic.
Yeah it’s really epic to think about
Its so cool and a great idea in my opinion
I feel bad for the people that didn’t think to dive through during this boss fight. Definitely one of my top Zelda moments and that’s 20+ years.
Omg my first thought was "I bet I could dive through his crystaly bits like I was super man"
But theyre covered in spikes, its videogame shorthand for "dont touch this"
however, the spikes fly off as colgera attacks
The part where the Rito Village theme hits makes the battle feel more critical because you're literally fighting for the survival of the Rito
She's so incredible, I realize when I do a bit of music how much work it takes, it's incredible. 🔥
It reflects the warmth you feel when you first hear the theme in Breath of the Wild with a sharp, cold feeling that runs down your spine, it’s awesome.
Which is itself a reference to Dragon Roost Island
It's also big for us older Zelda fans, because it's the theme of Dragon Roost Island from Wind Waker, the place where the Rito were introduced for the first time.
@@Lieutenant_Dude I did not know that. I haven't played Wind Waker, but I def wanna get to it.
The whole trip to the wind temple and the wind temple itself had such an absurd musical progression as you got closer to this utter masterpiece.

That Dragon Roost/Rito Village motif at 6:51 is AMAZING
AMEN! As someone whose first Zelda game was Wind Waker, this was a particularly special moment for me.
Instant goosebumps when hearing it in game.

Bro, ✋🤚.
I didn't grow up with the Dragon Roost Island theme and it still gave me the hard "I will win" feels immediately.
My first zelda game was Ocarina of Time but Dragon Roost Island had a HUGE impact for me in that game.
Hell yeah
When that section hit, I wanted to stand up from my chair and roar.
👋
The entire Tulin Sage arc was spectacular in its musical compositions. The muted version of Rito Village, the sounds of the wind instruments simulating the sounds of buffeting gales as you ascend higher and higher to the Stormwind Ark, how pieces of Vah Medoh and Revali's theme could be heard while exploring to unlock more locks in the gate, and of course, this theme. Nintendo really knocked it out of the park with this region.
Amen to that!
When the Dragonroost/rito village theme comes in at 6:50 in triumphant brass instead of the typical spanish guitar… it’s a thing of beauty!
It really was! Nintendo has seriously talented Audio design teams/engineers.
And then both Yunobo and Sidon's suck. At least Riju's is decent.
I love the fact that boss themes in TOTK are so unique each one differing from the similarities all Blight Ganons' had in BOTW.
Right? It's so refreshing!
I thought it was familiar music.. but it really is!
i THINK the flute represents tulin and ofc the saxophone represents link, theres portions where the 2 are played duetting and then the menacing sounding instruments represent colgera or colgate
@@modcon-based113, that's what I thought too! Excellent thoughts.
Yes! This is so true!
the game does sync up songs to your fights you can notice that in any miniboss or lynel, the score goes louder whenever you stun the enemy
OOHG I just realized- Tulin's the flute. (duh, I mean- flutesong is the Rito village's main theme, so tracks that a Rito would be musically represented by a flute, but stay with me here)
the third phase theme is definitely the most triumphant one- we start to hear less of that panicked tremolo rise-and-fall that sounds like some kind of calamitous storm, and start to hear the flute come through.
Yes! Great observation! It makes me appreciate this game so much more!

This may very well be the best theme in all of the Zelda games. congragurations, you have found me
Music tracks with multiple phases like this have become one of my favourite concepts ever since Breath of the Wild, it's a subtle yet powerful way to make the player feel waves of emotions as the track progresses.
Kiddo you are pathetic
TLDR
1. Fire
2. Wind
3. Spirit
4. Lightning
5. Water
This comment is so on point!
Two things:
first of all, I just learned there's a way to fight Colgera without archery. I'm not kidding XD I feel a little stupid for never trying, but I mean, I had arrows, it worked well, it was fun, just kinda... didn't feel the need to try anything else? But at the same time, it's TOTK. Of course if I had tried something else, it would have worked :D
And also, regarding the discussion of the 4 phenomena, something I wanna throw out there - I love how the 4 phenomena are: weather condition threatening the way of life/lives of the population, weather condition threatening the way of life/lives of the population, environmental pollution threatening the way of life/lives of the population, and ...crippling addiction XD one of these things is not like the others! ...not a problem at all, but it's just really funny to me how much of an "outlier" that one is imo XD
Nintendo had absolutely no business making this singular boss theme the best song in the entire game. And it's an optional boss too.
Does anyone else hear Mario being blown away at 2:20 ?
Holy shit lol I do
OH MY GOD
waaaaaaaaahhhhh
Wahhhh
I bested Colgera during the Rito quest line using arrows and bullet time. Then I re-encountered it in the Depths, and yeah, this thing is so much easier just skydiving through the weak points.
Noted!
Not easier, but definitely more fun
Wait you weren't supposed to do that-?
I didn't realize you could do that >.>
@@Xazyv, same!
I enjoyed building impromptu sprinklers for Mucktorok instead of using Sidon
I hope so too!
Wait, he's married with his own son?

This song genuinely makes me cry holy moly
It's so emotional, I can just feel the struggle it touches my soul
I would erase my memory just so I could re-experience this fight for the first time.
To be bored a second time by an easy and bland boss

Shame, isn't it?
Yeah should have put ad

I was super stressed during this battle bc I had to keep eating cold resistance food bc I kinda just wandered into this temple without actual prep work lol so as I’m stressed and eating my last cold resistance dish and trying to figure out how the heck to beat this thing when I’m constantly dying with like 5 hearts to my name I was like “hold on this music HITS“ lol. wish I could have enjoyed it more in the moment but still I recognized how amazing it felt listening to it! Haven’t felt like that with a game in a long time :3
Same! So glad this is up so we can enjoy the theme to our hearts’ content!
I hadn't gotten all of the Cold res Items required, YET I STILL WON because I had cooked a lot of food beforehand!
I just can't get enough of this theme, even after so many rematches against it.
The dungeon design, the leitmotif, the atmosphere, and the fact that we're doing it with a Rito really makes this a love letter to the Wind Waker fans
"Brave fledgling, you are the pride of the Rito."
Wait, Tulin is a fledgeling?
6:50 is when the game reminds you that your fighting for the rito and that you NEED TO LOCK THE FUCK IN!!!!
Language!
Language!!
@ yes sir 🫡
just listening and trying to whistle along to the Dragon Roost part actually taught me how to whistle correctly, what a true GOAT of a music
Thats actually such a fun way to learn how to whistle omg
A little after 4:15 if you listen closely you can actually hear Ganondorf’s theme. To me, the juxtaposition with the swift wind instrument/violin runs symbolizes how Ganondorf sent the storm to ravage the Rito so, so well. Yet ANOTHER reason why this might be one of my favorite TOTK tracks
Wow totk music has so many easter eggs
And i have 570 bird eggs in my inventory
Revali: Oh, you must pardon me. I forgot you have no way of making it up to that Divine Beast on your own.

This has got to be the best piece of music to come out of any Zelda game. I love it so much, I had to share it with you all!
@Wilt&Blush Yuga! Flawless, Flawless, Yuga!
Yuga! Powerful Yuga!
Hey, Be a Fellow Painting.
Yuga! Flawless, Flawless, Yuga!
This is one of my favorites for sure but imo Yunobo's theme tops it
The third trailer beats all
Its nowhere near the best, but the thing I love about it, is the mixed in old music from older games!
There is alot of mixed old music in BotW and TotK, but in this piece particularly, its done extremely well.
Mid.
3:58 I don’t hear enough people talking about this part
exactly!!
That perfect flute flourish! Chef's kiss.
Before ToTK, I would say Malladus from Spirit Tracks had the best boss fight theme. Colgera now has the best boss fight theme in the Zelda series.
And yet it doesn't. Such a borong and easy fight and such a childish song that has zero emoțion. That's what zelda fails at, good emotional songs
Months later this track still gives me chills and a couple tears of joy every damn time, definitely the best track in a recent Nintendo game.😊
Yeah no
@@mihaimercenarul7467 calling someone a child is a compliment... we all yearn for our youths

I spin the last fan and push the button. The grate on the ship opens up and there’s nothing but mist…
Me: “A giant fan is going to blow us into the sky, isn’t there?”
The unquestionable best boss ost of the game, just from the amount of power you feel trough that dragonroost island leitmotif
i love how theres rhe underlying diving theme at 5:11 with the rapid piano notes.
Wind waker was my first ever zelda game, and hearing part of dragon roosts theme in rito villages theme was an amazing touch, and adding rito village/dragon roost islands theme was an awesome touch to this song. The composer outdid themselves
I cannot agree more!
This amazing track reminded me of the Mandalorian soundtrack. I wonder what would happen if Link combined a bokoblin horn with the Darksaber
dude...wtf
BAHAH THATS INCREDIBLE DUDE
Dark-boko-reaper
6:52 gave me chills. It slaps harder than Link’s back when he dove through Colgera.
Dude whoever got to conduct this is like the luckiest person alive
The Rito Village questline is my favorite one in TOTK; it wouldn't be remotely the same without the absolutely outstanding soundtrack pieces. It really felt like that whole section was a beautifully written love letter to Wind Waker, while still being entirely fresh and original, and even more grand.
I really really hope Nintendo keeps including these awesome WW homages in the future.
Also this song makes me tear up??
you guys should listen to:
- THE LORULE MAIN THEME FROM A LINK BETWEEN WORLDS
- Vaati's Wrath
- Boss theme from Minish Cap (Actually come to think of it... the whole Rito dungeon/boss in TOTK seems to have a HUGE resemblance to the Palace of Winds in Minish Cap as well as thr Gyorg boss fight)
- Deku Palace theme from Majora's Mask
- ballad of the goddess field/sky theme, of course
- spirit tracks realm overworld theme
- tal tal heights
- Mount Crenel theme from Minish Cap
- Ghirahim battle theme
- gerudo valley of course
- THE FINAL GHIRAHIM BATTLE THEME
- Oracle of Ages and Seasons ending/credits theme
- the list can go on
although the colgera music IS really really good and the boss fight was amazing
Yes please feed me more
Any recommendations on other games?
Btw here to spread Origami King propaganda, please listen to The scissors theme and the tape theme from Paper mario: the origami King
Check out the hole punch devil theme too while you're at it, and also the event battle theme
when that one part played tulin said something right before the beat drop and it was so majestic i literally teared up and paused the game i had to take a breather😭
I like they mixed kind of zonai whispering, sound like you hear the low demon whispering , make it feel you were in their realm
The moment I used a spear to pierce through one of his rings was the single coolest thing I’ve ever done in Zelda
Dawg i was terrified after seeing the colgera fight because i didn’t know it was coming and it was my first real boss in totk because i ran away from every single creature with a healthbar and now i have to fight this dragon with tornados but it was the best fight in the game
Conductor to orchestra: alright everyone please look at your sheets
Conductor to percussion: just do your thing guys!
