Stone Poneys, one of the great band names of all time. Linda, what can you say - a divine set of pipes attached to a fascinating creature. Much more than her hits and she wore her fame so casually. How unusual in LA. Thanks for the tour.
Tell Linda we still love her, tell Linda we still need her. Authentic power and warmth in those pipes.
Wanted to celebrate Ms. Ronstadt's 76th birthday today (July 15th) by finding something about her I'd never seen before. This was just the perfect video. Kudos to your aunt for exposing you to Pirates of Penzance as a child. Despite her debilitating condition of supranuclear palsy, she is still letting her voice be heard. She has just co-written a book called "Feels Like Home" about the Mexican culture of her childhood.
Thanks again for this wonderful video.
She was THE female singer in the early 70's
I was fortunate to play a few shows at the Troubadour. Such an iconic venue. The staff was amazing. First class.
Linda’s voice was one of a kind. So powerful. Her beauty made her brand that much better.
Looks like your grandma was happy that you were there & left a message for you. Obviously, she's your guardian angel. Love & blessings to you & Jah. Thank you for another great video. 🙏💜💋
She was the BOMB. Little trivia for ya she also was the first woman to fill an arena. So that says alot about her 🎶🎙
That’s awesome!
I love her! What a beautiful voice!! I graduated from high school in 1972, so I have followed her from the beginning! I pray for her because of her Parkinson's. I am a retired RN, so I know how devastating this disease can be. Her voice is a gift to all of us!! TY Jordan!!
Kenny Edwards was the third member and bassist of The Stone Ponies, and recorded and performed with Linda throughout her rock and roll years in the 1970s and early 1980s as her bassist and backup singer and also banjo player. He's was a MONSTER bass player and added a lot to the sound of her records and live shows.
There are no coincidences-Uno card was for You, your Grandma, & your Auntie! Linda was my favorite voice coming up in the 70’s as a little girl. An American treasure for all of Eternity. The Troubadour-such talent graced that place. You also mentioned the lost weekend - that was one of my very favorite of your vlogs. I love the whimsy that was Harry. Thank you for another fantastic, fun, & informative blog, Jordan! Have a great weekend! 💗
Linda Ronstandt is one of my favorite singers and performers of the 70’s era. Her song “Different Drum” with the Stoneponies was written by Michael Nesmith of the Monkees. That was the first song I liked from her. She was and is so cute and down to earth. I wish her all the best in her battle with Parkinson’s. God bless her & you too Jordan for another interesting vlog.
My husband and his cousin went to go see Sawyer Fredericks before the pandemic hit. I was too I was too ill to go. Hopefully some day that Lucy’s Restaurant will open up again. It’s 2022 and we’re still waiting for this pandemic to go away. Your vlogs make the days go smoother so thank you Jordan and your fellow vlogging friend who added that tidbit of Linda’s brother as well. ❤️🙏🏻✨💫
I really appreciate this one especially!. I grew up on the So Cal sound of the Seventies & Linda Ronstadt is my favorite female vocalist of all time.
Thank you Jordan. Linda's my favorite female singer. The voice of an angel. I love when her talent is remembered and kept alive.
I love listening to her music! I was singing it yesterday while running errands. She has a beautiful voice!
Jordan 🇯🇴 Blue Bayou was my favorite song .. so lilting so beautiful.. Dodgers, Mexican restaurant meeting Jerry Brown , at Lucy's. Uno card crazy... her brother arrested Robert Bardow, really crazy fact, thank you again Jordan 🇯🇴
Wow, another great video, Jordan. So much good stuff packed into a short vlog...the amazing stories about Linda and her family, the tie-ins to the Adobe restaurant and Paramount Studios, and especially the finding of that Uno card! That was truly meant for you! 😇
That was a chilling story about Linda’s brother arresting Rebecca’s killer. Once again, I am so touched by your kind and humble spirit, and your obvious respect for the subject of your vlogs. Thank you for all of it! Prayers and best wishes as you settle into your beautiful new home. God bless you, and love to Jah! 🐾

Linda was my idol growing up. In high school, I would hole up in my room and listen to her records... I still have them, and they are still in pristine condition.(I even have a copy of a Stone Ponys album) I saw a documentary about The Troubadour on PBS a few years back... Cheech and Chong played there, as well as Carole King and James Taylor together when her mega album Tapestry came out. It's good to see Scott, interesting story about Bardo and Linda's brother. The Uno card... I love when things like that happen. Great vlog, Jordan, all the best☺💝🎆
Your vlogs can be nostalgic that brings sweet memories but with sad updates and then you show flowers. It may seem random but it speaks to the rebirth of spirit. Always makes me smile. Safe travels.
The UNO card - a "sign" from your grandmother saying hello... ❤
That’s exactly what I thought
Many thanks Jordan, Linda's legacy lives forever! 🥰
My first band played our first gig at the Troubadour. What a trip finding the Uno card after your story about your aunt. Linda was beautiful, and I wish her grandfather could have found that cure to Parkinson's.
I LOVE this episode!! Linda Ronstadt is my all time favorite singer and I love everything about her. I love the "walking tour" part of your videos and this one is GREAT, but how sad that Lucy's is closed!!!!
I love Linda's voice! I know she can't sing anymore, how devastating but most people have not accomplished what she did! It's not fair... We love you Linda💋 Thanks Jordan, Hugs to Jah! 🎵🎶💜
Very nicely done. And what a voice and soul she has. Stone Poneys covered Different Drum & Some of Shelley's Blues, both written by Michael Nesmith. Her recordings gave him a chance of being seen as a legit musician. I think even Steve Martin's early tenure at the Troubador brought him across Linda. He described her as beautiful, but out of his league. Thanx for posting. Take care.
I got to see Linda in early 1980 at Buddy Holly Park outside Lubbock and she sang Blue Bayou. I'll never forget that day, because a severe thunderstorm hit and since we were out in the middle of the country we were stuck (literally) and had no shelter. So we used trash bags or anything we could find to cover us as the rain came down like buckets and lightning everywhere. Whoever the band on stage was, ran off and did their best to find some type of shelter under the stage or in their equiptment trailers, etc... and as the lightning hit and we hunkered down on this muddy hill waiting for the storm to let up, we heard a female voice over the speakers say "if you're going to risk your life being here, I'm going to sing and be with you. If I have to go, I'll go doing what I love..." I remember you could hear a gasp from the audience and we all threw off whatever was covering us and just sat listening and praying for who was on stage. That was Linda, and she sang Blue Bayou, and she gave an outstanding performance. Just yesterday I was over at my Neighbors house who has a recording studio, and we were discussing plans for an upcoming video where I plan to interview him and hear his stories in the music industry in the 60-80's in L.A. and he showed me his old files with negatives that he took in the 60's and 70's in L.A. and a (very young) Linda was among them, along with The Doors, Morrison, Crosby Stills Nash, you name it, they were there in the photos, I sat at amazement. I knew he had played and did sound and photography for the top guys back then, and even co-wrote a song or two for the Byrds, but these pictures were moments in time, frozen in history. All I could think is how after all these years, maybe I can show the world what he took and did and saw and knew. I do remember him telling me about giving a ride to some guys and Morrison (I think it was) after a show at the Troubadour and my Friend had a brand new car and Morrison was so drunk he puked in the back seat floorboards. He told him he'd never give him another ride... LOL This interview will probably take a year to research and edit but it will be a doozy when it's complete. Wish me luck. I'm going to need it!
Linda’s version of Blue Bayou is amazing. Thank you for this blog. The Uno card is a sign from your grandmother. Telling you she’s always with you. ❤️❤️❤️
I forgot how cute she was. Parkinson's is so awful. Such a beautiful talent.
She has a fantastic voice! I also love her "Blue Bayou," but my hands-down favorite has to be her album with Nelson Riddle. Even as a kid I remember the distinctive sound of his band opening up the Jackie Gleason show "from beautiful Miami Beach." Years later when he did the album with Linda I was in Heaven. Thanks for the great vlog, you told me a lot I didn't know about her.
Jordan, thank you for covering the beginnings of Linda Ronstadt's career. She's one of my favorite artists and possesses what I would call an angelic voice. By the way, finding that Uno card in the way that you did is called synchronicity. These kind of mysterious patterns can happen throughout our lives and are often meant to show us that we are on the right path.
OMG "Blue Bayou". Takes my breath away.
One if my favorites!
linda singing with aaron neville "dont know much" shows her talent and she sounds beautiful ! my fav song by her is"when will i be loved" Thank you Linda! oh and i still have her poster from the 70's!
Love Linda Ronstadt!! She was my dad’s favorite and Blue Bayou was his song!! Great vlog!! So great to see The Troubadour!
I hope Lucy’s will reopen. My familiarity with Linda Rondstadt singing was her duet with Aaron Neville and a little of her singing in Spanish. You always do the most respectful and honoring vlogs 🙂
I absolutely love Linda! I listened to her constantly in the 70’s...thank you for doing a vlog on this amazing woman ❤️ oh and the UNO card discovery gave me goosebumps 😳
Linda Ronstdat is one of the most beautiful and gifted, world class singers, of all time. Thank you for this great video.
No irony involved! That card is a message. Do doubt Jordan. 💝
I got the chills with the draw 3 card. Luck, luck, luck!!!
Thanks for the Interesting background on Linda Ronstadt... I actually saw the production of the Pirates of Penzance with Linda Ronstadt and Kevin Klein onstage at the LA Music Center. She was an amazing singer. Her recordings will live forever.
I love Jordan’s knowledge and great stories, and anything with Linda ronstadt always gets me attention💖
I always preferred Linda's version of You're No Good to the Van Halen one which is quite good as well. So much history at The Troubadour.
I love both!!!
Van Halen covered You're No Good? Didn't know that. I need to get out more😌
@@laurastrobel718 Van Halen II. I loved that version as a kid. If you like VH, you’ll really like it, Laura. 🙂
@@kk-bootsie Thanks☺... Van Halen was great at covers for sure. Pretty Woman is awesome... Sure many kids at the time thought, "Oh, that guy is singing a Van Halen song" when they finally heard Roy Orbison singing it Lol☺
@@kk-bootsie You're No Good was originally a hit for Dee Dee Warwick in 1964 ! When I saw The Kinks in 1979 they opened with You Really Got Me , Ray Davies proclaiming " This is our Fu*king song ! "
I was in Pirates of Penzance in high school!! I watched it with my classmates and loved Linda’s performance in that and listened to her music she loved her. Both my parents are fans! Also jealous she got to be in a Saturday Night Live skit with my celebrity crush John Belushi ❤️
Always loved Linda...💙 And I'm loving the dark blue sun glasses Jordan. Thanks for another interesting and informative vlog!! That was wild with the Uno card !!
Awesome as always!!!
I hadn't realized Linda had met the Jerry Brown so long ago! Also, just seeing those tents of the homeless in your old neighborhood makes me so happy for you that you are out of there!
Love, love, love Linda! Thanks Jordan.
❤ her music! Great video and thanks for sharing!
Linda was already a Mega star she had cut Blue Bayou and she was 31 not 26. It was the World Series of 1977 at The Dodger's stadium. Trust me I grew up Looooving Linda Ronstadt! I bought every album she ever made that I could find. Thank you so much for this Tribute to Linda Ronstadt! She was born on July 15,1946. Just wanted to help you out with some Linda Facts. I enjoy your videos! The Dearly Departed videos, I will miss those. Loved the Lynyrd Skynyrd video. I hope Scott keeps the Jayne Mansfield car.
You're right
Linda Ronstadt met Jerry Brown before he was governor and before she was the Megastar that she was in 77
Jordan the Lion must have seen The Linda Documentary a few times because he recited many parts of the documentary almost verbatim.. Now that's a true fan!
I actually have. About 5 times.. if I don't say something verbatim, people tell me I'm wrong and that whatever I said didn't happen. Since much of Linda's documentary is her telling the stories, I figure it's the most accurate you can get!
Great Stories Jordan. I played the Troubadour on an open mic night during that time. Unfortunately, we weren't discovered that night. But, I also saw Joni Mitchell there when she made her Los Angeles debut in 1968.
such a voice! good to see you Jordan. been a while for me.
I love Linda! My parents and I were fans and we had many of her records. It's funny; when I was in elementary school, I so loved The Pirates of Penzance that--for some strange reason--I wrote an all-dog version for a class writing project called The Pooches of Penzance. Heck, maybe Jah could star! lol
Love Linda and country music 🎶. Great vlog as always Jordan 😎👍
I do remember watching The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in the late 80's or early 90's and he had for a musical guest Linda Rhonstadt. She wound up singing a mexican song that ties very much to her fathers roots. That was pretty good to watch. Man I miss late night shows like Johnny Carson hosting. She had some very good music too! Sad to hear that she is not doing so well. Excellent vlog Jordan!
Love love love Linda Rondstadt, saw her twice in an open arena in MA, can’t remember it’s name, she was great!!! Ty ty ty for doing this vlog. 🥰
Message from Grandma🤗
Linda was the greatest voice in my lifetime. The first album I ever bought with my own money was “Heart Like a Wheel” which I still have. What a phenomenal music she made in her life.
I grew up with the animated movie An American Tail and Linda was the singer of the famous song Somewhere Out There.
Brilliant video, so many memories of growing up in LA in the 70's and 80's, but it made me cry to see my hometown look like a disaster movie film set and so much is completely gone. If only we could take time trips, you would have loved the Saturday shopping scene on Melrose in 1984. The UNO card was just a little hello from your loves, they're always with you in spirit ☮️💟
The shirts are called "Guayabera". A few of my uncles would wear them too. I had the biggest crush on her until she started dating the governor.
I read somewhere she was his beard?
Hello, Jordan! Checking in again! Dave and I have been following you back and forth from old home to new home and loving every minute of your vlogs. This was a good one to watch as we loved Linda and really digged that culture back then. Hope The Troubadour opens! 😄
Linda Ronstadt was poppin back in the 70s and early 80s when I was a kid. Thank you for that great theme, Jordan.😎
Linda started out commercially with the Stone Poneys. Their big hit was Different Drum. My older brother had their album. I was 12 at the time.
What an amazing voice!!!
My wife and I ate at the El Adobe a few years ago while awaiting the beginning of our Paramount Studios tour. We had good food and good service.
So cool
Hi Jordan, what a brilliant cause to raise money for, Parkinson's is such a horrible disease. Finding that UNO card was a bit spooky. Prayers and thoughts go out to Linda battling this disease. So sad to see all those tents in Los Angeles, let's hope we all come through this soon. Great vlog Jordan.
I love Pirates of Penzance (and all Gilbert & Sullivan operettas) and have always admired Linda Ronstadt’s talent and she seems like a really good person.
Love this Vlog Jordan!
Great vlog and the Uno card was interesting to say the least. Walking tours of Southern California neighborhoods is where you excel
She is still one of my favorites! Love this cover of her career
My first concert was Jackson Brown, Linda Rhonstast and The Eagles at Anaheim Stadium!
Love Linda, always one of my favorites. When I think of the 70’s her songs are so important. Part of the sound track of my life 😌
Love and hugs to you and Jah! Just watched “The story of Jah” and realized his (is it 7th?)birthday is coming up!! I’m sure you have a special day planned! Happy early Birthday buddy!
Amazing voice. So sorry to hear of her illness x
Howzit~Glad I finally watched one of your vids! Much obliged ✊~Dig your style/LovE the pics of young Linda R.
I enjoyed see this blog, thank you.
When I was in high school and living with my parent's, I went to the famous Troubadour. We lived about 6 or 7 miles away and my friend's and I would take city buses to get there. Never saw Linda there because we were going there in the 1970's, so after the time when Linda would have been performing there. Only went there a few times, especially on the hoot nights (open mike night,) I think it was free to get in on that night or just a dollar maybe. It was a great place and so much fun!!
I knew where Lucy's El Adobe was but as teens we didn't have money for restaurants like that.
Sad another singer with Parkinson's in their later years. Neil Diamond has it now too. Great vlog. Thanks for doing this. Stay safe, take care and God bless.
Interesting to me that you mentioned laundry and Pirates of Penzance in one sentence as I have a Pirates of Penzance beach towel. In NY many shows ended up on a beach towel
Such a great singer; so sad the situation she’s in nowadays; she’s been very sick lately. The shirts you talked about with the pockets I believe are called “guayaberas”; used a lot in Latin American countries. Love your optimism, Jordan. Have a great day and weekend.
I'm sorry to hear that... it must be very tough to live with
Linda Ronstadt is an actual Queen and when she was a part of the Trio, I became a country music fan
Same 😎👍. Love some good old fashioned country music 🎶
This was so great. Love Linda Ronstadt. I remember as a little maybe 12 year old buying the 45 of The Stone Poneys Different Drum and playing it over and over and loving that girl's voice. Loved this.
Thanks for sharing this video and I think Linda Ronstadt is a great singer she is so talented .. have a wonderful day 😎🎸🎶🎶 🎸🎶
Don't mind me I'm just over here bawling over the story of linda's grandpa trying to find a cure for his wife
Hi Jordan, where did you get your sunglasses at. I really enjoy your vlogs!
Jordan we are so happy for you and Jah, absolutely beautiful home Congratulations! Appreciate all you do, you have come a long way my 2 Buds, Cheers to success ! Luv&Peace Sean&family.
Wow Jordan that Uno card was a very unique event. 3 groups of people...first your grandparents household, your aunt's and yours. All at one gathering. There fore 3 in UNO. This was a wonderful vlog. It's fun and informative. Thanks. By the way, best wishes for your new place
How interesting to learn of the Eagles start, as a band.
Love our Jordan n Jah ❤
Seeing the World through your eyes is like a cool drink of refreshing water on a sweltering , hot day.
I enjoy your sight so much having just came back from Palm Springs with my son. Spent most of our time driving thru the streets looking for Stars homes. Wish you had been with us. You are awesome! 🎶🎵 “You have a new fan in me.”🎵🎶🤩😘
Someone's talking to you with that UNO card, Jordan. Maybe it's your grandma, anyway great video!
Great channel, Jordan
Jordon. The radio station across from the Adobe was 93 KHJ AM. That’s we’re I worked in the early 70’s. It was a big deal back then. The Real Don Steel, Robert W. Morgan, Charlie Tuna all worked there. Regis Philbin did his show TEMPO in the same building, with Rita Lee at KHJ Channel 9 and he and I often had lunch at the Adobe. The Nickodell was next door to KHJ and Don Steel and I had many drinks there on many occasions. In fact, it was at the Nickodell that Jo Anne Worley picked me up one night. Great memories. It was an old celebrity hang out in its day.
Jo Ann? I loved Laugh- In growing up, she was such a hoot, I loved her fashion sense and how she swung and her long beaded necklaces😄
Nice job!
Wonderful really enjoyed this😉
17:05 YES! blue bayou is my favorite song of hers, well one of them anyway, hard to choose
Will always love Linda Ronstadt! Saw her live in "Pirates of Penzance" in Central Park in 1980. Her duets with Rex Smith were AMAZING! The truth is, she could sing ANYTHING. Keeping her in my prayers now that she is plagued by Parkinson's. So sad.
TC
Really good vlog
"93 K-H-J," most popular radio station in the LA area. We all listened to it. Another station was K-Earth 101.
Linda Ronstadt had one of the great voices. Remember her so well from my childhood in the 70s.
Did not know the backstory of Miss Ronstadt's mom and how her dad spent his money looking for a cure that has now consumed his daughter. Always loved her vocals. I don't know if your aunt has passed on but if she did, the UNO card was her message telling you she's with you. :)
I just caught part of the livestream and heard your story about the UNO number 3 and you, gma and aunt playing together. My hair stood on end.
I have fond memories of that little park at the border of WH & BH :-)
Me too, lived in BH for seven years and made great memories.
lol. how did you know a musician would want to see the back entrance lol :) i did
Because I played a concert next door, in between Dan tana's and the troubadour, when I still had a band, and I wanted to see the Troubadour door when we first arrived.
