Just think of how she managed to always sound great no matter what the backing band or which tour. She had a commitment to excellence that goes beyond mere natural talent. The sound mix always allows her to sing softly or bang it out and be heard. That is more than coincidence or natural talent.

Linda Maria Ronstadt's contributions say she more than deserves to be in the Country Music Hall of Fame while she is still with us. Members Dolly & Emmylou have been in since 1999 & 2000 respectively. Linda's induction would also complete the Trio again. Get her in while she can enjoy it !

Linda covered many songs early in her career. And her recordings sounded better than the original! Don't try this at home!
Simply the best in so many ways! And always classy.

Fortunately I got to see Linda Rondstadt during her hey day, regularly, last time I saw was 1999, when she was touring her duet album with Emmylou, The Western Walls. I was lucky to see her with Don Henley and Glen Frye, also Waddy Watchell and Albert Lee & Andrew Gold.

Oh, yes! In the early 70's, when I was around 13, my parents and I were visiting my uncle in Southern California. He lived close to Hollywood, and since I was such a music fan, my parents and I would drive around, sight-seeing, since there were so many awesome (to me - I'm sure they couldn't have cared less...LOL!) huge billboards of some of my favorite singers. One time we were actually walking down the street, when a man approached us and asked us if we would like tickets to the Merv Griffin Show. He said it was Merv's first show in California, having just moved it from New York. We gladly accepted the tickets, and I was ecstatic to learn that Linda Ronstadt was going to be one of the guests! The show was being taped that day, and we got to go inside, right then. Linda sang "Blue Bayou" (barefoot, :) ) and sounded amazing.

      Goose Whisperer
So glad you saw my reply. You obviously blessed your parents' lives as they did yours. Ms. Ronstadt had a rich, loving family life that charted the course of her career. Her musical memoir is drawing me into "her circle of friends" and unearthing artists and performances I didn't even know existed. Last night, I listened to her club performance at My Father's Place in July of 1974 in Roslyn, NY; then 17 and not very cool or musically savvy, I was probably spending an uneventful night up in my room a mere 30 minutes away!
Of course, I am sorry that she is now coping with the loss of her voice and the ill-effects of Parkinson's, but as she herself said, she "had a long time at the trough." How blessed we are to have four decades of her musical odyssey at our fingertips! And who knows, we might even meet her on RUclips one day, as she uses it to rediscover the voices of HER youth.
Keep savoring your memories and keep listening to Linda Ronstadt!
