Real Opinion here >>>>>>>>>>> I own the previous 923 Hot Metals, they are absolutely a confidence booster. Smooth feel, play longer than most brands per club choice (strong loft). The flight tends to be little lower than other brands.... your not hitting to the moon. They are very consistent distance wise, once you know your distances, pretty much dead on when your choosing what club to hit, hence confidence booster. Results......look really clean, great durability, very consistent distances on every club, all for well under $1000 pretty much wherever they are sold. And , Mizuno (as of right now and last year) offers free shaft choice and grip at no extra cost!!!! I paid $900 (5-LW) and got my mid Golf Pride CP2 grips and blacked out Hazardous Smoke XS shafts on every club at no extra cost!!!! And they were fitted!! Cant beat that!
So glad to hear they still offer that when you get a set!!! I got midsize tour wrap white over 4 years ago, with KBS130 XS shafts i was fitted for with my mp18 mmc’s in todays market and industries thats awesome theyre still doing that. You cant beat Mizuno for irons they’ve perfected the craft and kept cost down because they dont go wild with the unneeded tech
Thanks for the input. Always like to hear what someone who actually has and plays the model for their opinion! You’ve made me reconsider these as an option for my next set.
921 hot metal checking in Love them and when you pure one the feel is as real as it gets Brought them to Moldova and there isn’t a golf course in the country, but the parks are nice and with imagination I’m at my home course ⛳️ 🏌🏻♂️
I bought my first set of mizuno irons a couple years ago. After trying near all brands.. I am a mizuno fan for life. The most forgiving and best strikes I have ever had.
Mizuno is huge here in Asia (Been here for 24 years). We don't see many Callaway, Tailormade or Cobra on the golf course. Honma and Mizuno is what is being played in Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and Singapore. It mostly has to do with the "stock" shaft, its flex and response. Believe it or not but in Asian countries the golf swing is quite different from the European or American swing. There is a pause (exaggerated) at the end of the upswing and the shaft are not being torqued at the end of the upswing but rather on the down swing (from 10am to 6am) in consequence, the shafts used in Asia are very flexible and impossible to time with a full high torque swing. These heads (Honma and Mizuno) have always been designed for forgiveness and not distance as golf courses are shorter in Asia due to the lack of land. Distance is not an issue when on a 145y par 3 or a 365y par 4. Staying in the fairway is. I tried mounting Mizuno heads on stiff shafts and I had to change my swing to a half swing to keep the ball on the fairway as they are clearly not designed to be used with a stiff shaft.
I have some 2021 Honma clubs I got for a steal in the US because no one knows what they are. Are they considered in the same category as Mizuno and Muira in Asia? I love my clubs but I feel like I might be missing out on a little bit of feel/performance. And I don’t mean the beres line. I have TR21X’s and am looking at the 757p’s or 757vx’s
@@alexwheeler1468 The Honma would be like the AMG version of a Benz. They are more expensive and also more beautiful (style) than Mizuno (20-30% more expensive). Performance wise, I could not tell personally, as they are not made for a 5"11 200lbs person. These clubs (Mizuno and Honma) are really made for the Asian market. They don't come with extra stiff or stiff shafts here. I would have to spend 2k for a full set of Irons and re-shaft them all. It's not worth the money when Pings are also made in Japan (1 Hours from me) with a large choice of stock shafts (Made for the American Market.)
OF course the swing is different. Asians are on average much weaker thus slower swing speeds.. SO an Asian man is probably a little less strength than a stocky black woman so you'll need extra flex on the shaft and more forgiveness with a chunkier iron profile to gain a higher trajectory. It makes sense for asians to choose mizuno; however, I think Honma is overpriced.
I got fitted for a set of JPX 923's a few months ago and they have been incredible for me. They are just so good. Frankly I like the look of the 923's over the 925's.
I've just got fitted for the standard JPX Hot Metal and wow! They are incredible for me. Off centre hits are very forgiving compared to my previous irons. Really happy with them so far.
just got fitted yesterday for the jpx. i was hitting my 7iron 180 consistently. i traded in my 2019 big bertha i never hit my 7 iron even close to that. now i just have to wait 3-4 weeks im pumped.
I have the 923 hot metals and I love the look of them. I got fitted for them and my swing has changed. It’s been a bit of a process to find my swing with these clubs but I still love them
I used to rock a set of Mizuno JPX EZ Forged. They felt like a hot knife through butter. So Smooth and fantastic feel. They were game improvement style irons, but with a forged design which helped me feel better with my shots and instantly feel if it was going to go well or not. To this day I regret selling them to upgrade my set (needed to happen) but wish I had kept them for times when I felt like takin them back out.
I will not buy any other brand of golf clubs than Mizuno. The feel is fantastic and they look great. I am on my third set of Mizunos. Currently rocking the Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal Pros
Yes. I have the 923 HM pro’s and they are awesome. For only $963 with upgraded shafts and free grip choice it’s the best value iron from a big name brand. I have MMT shafts and MCC grips, no upcharge! They look and feel awesome and go a long way
My Mizuno 245s are amazing to hit and feel smooth as butter when you hit them correctly. Great clubs to enter the game with. Distance, control and forgiving with some challenge (not being huge heads). Would recommend for anyone and the modern blade style look of the 241/245s are gorgeous in the bag.
Thanks! Here's the "downside" (if you want to consider it a downside) of Mizuno: their irons are so good you may never need another set! I was working with a golf pro near (not at!) Pinehurst about 18 years ago early in my golfing days and sought his input on replacement game improvement clubs (using used Pings then to see if I liked the sport). He suggested I move up instead into a set of Mizuno MX-23's noting I'll "grow into them" -- and I did. Lately, (now a "senior"), I gave them a critical eye thinking I'm overdue for replacing them -- and saw that my game is better than ever, the ball flies true and straight and the grooves are good! I figure I can spend $1000+ and maybe get a set as good but decided to save my $s!
Had the JPX 900 Hot Metals for the past 7 years, recently upgraded to the 923 Hot Metals after trying some forged irons 1st. Love Mizuno and will be my irons of choice from here on.
I’m playing the 921 forged after playing some big Nike vrs GI irons for years. Love the mizunos. Looks, feel, and still forgiving while not being too hot on pure shots.
Played Cobra for past 2 years, 14 hdcp and switched to HMP 923 late this season and the feel is incredible! Couldnt work the ball with the cobras, but these....Wow! On a miss strike the cobras would vibrate like an old wooden bat with a crack, HMP are pure butter. Love em!!!
Big Mizuno iron fan here. Nothing is sexier than a Mizuno blade, too bad I can't hit them. I play the Hot Metal Pro 921 and they have a lot of forgiveness. Hey Rick, it's time, it's time for you to join the Mizuno family. The way you were crushing the 7 iron was incredible.
I absolutely love Mizuno Irons. Played them for 16 years. I’m currently playing Titleist T100s/T200 combo. I played Titleist Clubs before Mizuno. My Titleists were stolen, so I eventually replaced them with Mizuno MP-32. I am absolutely enjoying the forgiveness of my Titleist Irons, but if I had the $$, I would love to add a Mizuno 243 Combo Set of sorts. But the Titleist is also so good. By the way, I do still have my Mizuno MP-32s. I got them reshafted and bent to the correct specs for me. Plus 1” X100 TT, 2° Upright. 🥂
Disagree. Srixon has less than half the feel and feedback of a Mizuno. Had a set of ZX7’s and every hit felt the same. Kept wondering why a pure feeling shot was comin up short and right. Toe hit felt the same as sweet spot.
I’m off 4 play JPX hot metal. The added distance it gives you thru the stronger lofts opens the course to u building ur bag in a different way. The decent angle on them is amazing. They just go sky high. Best club I’ve ever had I the bag. Closely followed by ZX5
Just got fitted for a set of 925's. They feel great. They are replacing my 2017 P770 set that I bought from my friend (so not fitted). The P770s were still a great set for me but as I got older into my 50s, my swing speed dropped and I lost quite a bit of distance. This new set was crazy long. I get that the lofts are stronger but its more than that. When I compared the shaft lengths of the 925s vs my P770s, they are the same lengths except that the iron numbers are shifted. The 925 4i is same length as my P770 3i. 925 5i is same length as P770 4i. Along with the shaft length, the lofts were still stronger. 925 4i was 19 deg while my P770 3i was 20.5 deg. The bottom line for my comparisons between my P770 and the 925, I have to compare one club longer on the P770. 925 7i was longer than my P770 6i. Regardless, I'm excited for this new set. 4-6 weeks to wait sucks but then again, its winter in Michigan.
I know hitting off of a mat with a simulator is an easy way to do a review. It still has value, but doesn't truly show what happens if you hit a tiny bit behind the ball. I like hybrids. If I hit a bit behind the ball it skids into it and still advances the ball well. Out of the rough, I find a hybrid much easier to hit.
Luke Kwon plays them Clare Hogel games them James Robinson does a whole series (Next 100) using them and Seed balls with Chris They got a lot of love on RUclips
This is my first season playing golf. I picked up 4-GW Mizuno MX-25 with SteelFiber graphite shafts for 80USD. I LOVE THEM! They still have many years left in them
Just got fitted for these it was the 925's and the Ping G430. Had an early lead with the pings its what i hit first, then 2nd round 925 started off alittle shaky since im a +15 handicap but man i got into a groove and was crushing the 925's and my dispersion was 6 shots all just slightly right of down the middle. Went with the Mizuno's taking them out tomorrow for their first round!
My beginner set of clubs are a 3-pw MP-64s I got off Ebay. Love them, not the most for distance compared to others I've used but great to shape shots (Took some learning).
I played Taylormade brand of irons very early on in my golf journey. However, I switched to Mizuno JPX 800 irons in 2011 and never looked back. I played the 800s for nearly 13 years before upgrading to the new JPX 925 Hot Metal Pro irons. They're definitely worth a recommendation.
Have only played Mizunos since I started playing in the late 1990s, admittedly it’s only two sets but when I changed my irons a few years ago I wasn’t set on Mizunos, tried lots of different ones at fitting and for me the Pro 225s outshone everything, even the Pro 221s and 223s. Love my Mizunos ❤
I game the 243's and for me they had the best turf interaction and consistency They're great 241's were pretty but tricky to hit and front to back dispersion was all over the place The 245's are seriously good irons Hollow body in the long and solid forged in the short and a combination of everything in between Every iron is bespoke They felt incredible flew lovely and are probably the best all round iron set on the market But all three sets in the Mizuno pro series you need to be a good ball striker before considering them Titleist have the playable irons market sewn up with the T150 and T200's without going into split sets It's an exciting time for irons right now I'm drooling over the Taylormade P7 cb 🤤
went from old 695CB irons to JPX921 Hot Metal Pro. very hot faces (and too strong of lofts IMO), but for a non-forged iron that is "game improvement" they have a great feel and responsiveness that I am not sure other club makers can compete with. I sure do miss using forged irons though...butter.
Ive been looking at the 925 and 923 models for a couple of weeks now ( high handicapper ) will wait to watch the high launch vid before making up my mind but seeing some of the comments has pretty much made up my mind that I’ll be treating myself to a set of Mizuno irons very soon
I tried Mizuno MP irons 7 years ago during a fitting. I’d hit TM P770 and Titleist 718 AP2 and they were neck and neck. We’d settled on a KBS shaft. I insisted on trying the mizunos before deciding. I hit 5 with an MP25 and proceeded to spray it all over the place. They felt dull and gave me no feedback. Went back to the AP2s and striped 5 out of 5. I’m a happy Titleist AP2 player but would try the Mizunos again next time. Certainly the JPX forged, but the T150s are top of the list for my next irons.
I've been playing the Mizuno JPX 923 HM HLs since Dec. 2022. I have lowered my handicap from a 25 to a 12.9, and I just shot 75 for the first time last week. Excellent clubs, hot ofnthe face but like Rick said, very forgiving. A great club if you're interested in improving your game/swing/taking lessons.
I played with the jpx 923 hot metal pro previously, found them relatively inconsistent for length of shot, now using ping i525 irons and far more confident with them
Love my JPX 921s. Paired with some kzg wedges. Would love to see a full KZG iron and wedge review in the future! The KZG Tri-Tour is awesome for my wedges. Would love to see other opinions on the KZG lines.
Man these lofts are insane! I have the JPX 921 SEL which are standard lofts (combo forged blades and MBs), this 7 iron hot metal is basically my 5 iron! The 9 iron is less lofted than my 8. I do wish there were more forgiving irons with standard loft for people that have the distance but still need forgiveness. If I used these, I would need 6 wedges!
Do you plan on doing any videos with any Takomo irons? I was thinking about getting a set but you’re one of the few golf reviewers I trust and I want to know what you think
I have JPX 900 forged 5-pw and also a 919 hot metal pro 4 iron. Getting a bit older and needing to chase a bit more distance/forgiveness. Might have to give these a try.
Honestly, some of the more budget brands make the best irons I’ve ever hit. More recently some of the hybrid irons I’ve hit whilst testing were phenomenal. I tried Wilson launchpads, Cleveland launchers/halos, pxg 0211s, and cobra t-rails and ultimately went with the t-rails. I hit them straight and they don’t rly jump as much as u would think.
I waited for the 925s hot metal to release, when they did I preferred the 923s so bought those instead. so far, seem really nice. wish I'd played mizuno before..
Rick,,, don't forget about Cleveland Launcher irons,,, I retired my full set of beryllium Ping eye 2's for a set of Cleveland Launcher XL Halo's and they are AMAZING!!! and the Zipcore's are top notch as well!!!
for someone like me who wants a bit more forgiveness than the blades offered but with close to traditional lofts I would highly recommend the Mizuno pro 223/243s . i feel they get a bit overlooked because of how successful the pro 221s were. they offer much more forgiveness than the pro 221s and their other brand equivalents like p7mb/mc t100 etc and has a good logical lofts gapping with a tradtional p wedge thus allowing you to continue with your wedges, hate those clubs in which you have to buy a seperate wedge cause the p wedge lofts is something crazy like 43. club gives great spin numbers , lower flights than my old titleists and in asia atleast you can pick them up new or second hand for cheaper than other brands
Mizunos still make some of the best irons and more affordable too. Love their last pro line. Currently play the MP-18mmc. Very forgiving but also a slight cavity blade style. Love how they aren’t strong lofted and dont have an insert
Good video, my only negative about modern game improvement irons is the lofts. A normal 5 iron is a 6 iron in the new irons, which is fine as I can club down but then you get the hot flyer that goes miles past the normal distance. When you know your yardages you want to be confident that the iron will be consistent with that yardage. Not flying 10 yards over the green. Very easy to hit and good confidence boosters for sure.
😂 what I'm going to have to deal with: I've been playing with an old set of Cleveland Vas's. The VAS 7 iron is 38 degrees of loft, while the 925 7 iron is 28° hitting the 925 the same distance as the VAS 3 iron. Going to take some learning. And alot of notes to dial it all in
What about Srixon? Been playing them the past couple years after trying all the major brands and they are a fantastic iron, but all we hear is TaylorMade, Ping, Callaway etc. the ZX5/ZX7s are outstanding.
I know you are currently playing a Wilson set But I don’t know if you have tested/ reviewed the Wilson D9 Forged irons? In my opinion it’s a very overlooked iron set , good looks thin top line , forged, forgiving and a lite bit off umf in distance 😊 think many would be surprised how god those irons are!
Been playing Mizuno for over 15 years plus. 923 Forged current set. Just can't beat the feel. Some are close but not the Mizzy feel. You know when you know.
Rick, I play the 921 Hot Metal Pros. I Chose the Pros because I spent my entire golfing life using non-offset clubs and the Pros offer less offset than the Hot Metals. The regular Hot Metals are probably easier to hit straight, thanks to the offset, but my eyes and my timing wouldn't adjust.
When I came back to golf after a ten year layoff and wanted to replace my 20+ year old clubs I went to get fitted and the JPX hot metals were what we landed on. I was crushing them. However when we went to order them for me it turns out they were unavailable in Left handed. That's how I wound up with Callaway Apex 21's. Can't buy them if they won't sell them to me.
I have the Hot Metal Pro 923, best irons I have ever had. I don't get to play as much as I would like, so these fall into that category for me. they help a lot
Loved Mizuno since a junior but didn't enjoy a Mizuno fitting a couple of months ago. Didn't get to try the Mizuno pro 243's as they didn't think it was forgiving enough and they showed me how I'd gained more yards with the JPX over my old Mizuno's but failed to mention the lofts were stronger 🙄 Got the chance at American golf to try the Mizuno pro 243's and loved them. Was hitting them well but chose the Wilson CB's as they were much better suited
Mizuno is the absolute best for irons. I have the pro 243. Never seen a better blend of forgiveness and workability. Slightly more players compact sort of shape. PACT with forgiveness. Feel is unlike anything else.
I like when you review clubs for the average golfer. That being said, a couple weeks ago you reviewed the Apex TI fusion irons, any chance you could review the Apex Ai200 and Ai300? These are much more designed for the average golfer than the fusions.
@@osiris7800 Yeah that would be great to see, also very interested in shapes and ball flights, if range balls dont move so much.. coz i'm always straight on the range haha
Not a fan of the strong lofted forgiving irons but then I'm not the target market. I'd consider a JPX 3 and/or 4 iron for a little help there but currently using MP-20 MMC set and not looking to change for the sake of change.

Would love to see a full Takomo review. 101T, 201 and 301. Especially the 201s. A forged set 4-p at 580Euro should get more attention.
I really would like to see a review of the Tacoma irons as well. I know the Bryan Bros use them, but Mr. Shiels is my trusted review guy on RUclips!
@@charlesgourley90 i play the 201s and their 3 wood. Absolutely love them
Luke Kwon plays them
Clare Hogel games them
James Robinson does a whole series (Next 100) using them and Seed balls with Chris
They got a lot of love on RUclips
Just was fitted for the 925 Hot Metals and I'm watching this as I await to receive them. I cannot wait to get them on the course.
Still playing the mx23s that were fitted in 2005 still look great and feel excellent
Every time I try a Mizuno iron, they feel fantastic. Haven't bought any yet, but I give them a shot.
I’ve only ever played mizuno irons. Every time I go for a fitting I try all the irons but always come back to mizuno
Another make to consider is the Srixon irons. So impressive on how they preformed as a high handicapper
Zx5 mk2 ?
I would love to see the Mizuno Pro 245 vs 243 vs 241. I think those are now aimed for more golfers.
I game the 243's and for me they had the best turf interaction and consistency
They're great
241's were pretty but tricky to hit and front to back dispersion was all over the place
The 245's are seriously good irons
Hollow body in the long and solid forged in the short and a combination of everything in between
Every iron is bespoke
They felt incredible flew lovely and are probably the best all round iron set on the market
But all three sets in the Mizuno pro series you need to be a good ball striker before considering them
Titleist have the playable irons market sewn up with the T150 and T200's without going into split sets
It's an exciting time for irons right now
I'm drooling over the Taylormade P7 cb 🤤
I have the Mizuno 923 hot metal pros. Absolutely love the irons.
As always a good honest review, I have been thinking of changing my clubs and was keen on mizuno clubs this has got me thinking this could be my club
I tried Lazrus irons this summer. Have been very dependable. How about a review of them? Let’s do it Shiels.
went from old 695CB irons to JPX921 Hot Metal Pro. very hot faces (and too strong of lofts IMO), but for a non-forged iron that is "game improvement" they have a great feel and responsiveness that I am not sure other club makers can compete with.
Just picked up a used set of 921 hm pros this summer. Absolutely love them! I’m a mizuno guy now I think.
I bought myself a set of 923’s like a month before these got announced and I was like damn as soon as I buy them they bring out the new and improved
I game the 923 Hot Metals and couldn't be happier, they're fantastic
Jpx 923 hm/jpx 923 hm pro combo here. Fab irons. Best move i made
Man these lofts are insane!
I got fitted for mizunos this year and I like em a lot. My first second hand set 8 years ago when I started were mizunos so I’m a big fan here.
Bought the hot metals early this year and they are great!
Finally Rick is finding out what everyone else knew when the 923's hit. The HL was/is a game changer. Notice how many other brands have done the same?
I have 921 hot metal pro and they've been great for my game just for a bit of consistency after getting back into playing since a junior
The amount of people saying they have the 923 HM Pro.... I too have them. Incredible!!!! I'm a 6HC and they have easily dropped 3 or 4 shots
I use 932’s and love them
Mizunos still make some of the best irons and more affordable too.
And alot of notes to dial it all in
@@nicksttrs That's mad, bet that will take some time to get used to the new yardages!
I play the 923 pros and they are a dream!
What about Srixon? Been playing them the past couple years after trying all the major brands and they are a fantastic iron, but all we hear is TaylorMade, Ping, Callaway etc. the ZX5/ZX7s are outstanding.
Love my mizunos 923 hot metal with Aerotech steel fibers get decent spin numbers and personally have good decent numbers.
I have the 900 Hot metals and love them. I'm a +25 and even I can work these irons.
Like how they look like the older JPX irons. Good looks.
Im still using the JPX 900 hot metals. No reason to change them since they've been so good to me.
Mizuno makes some of the nicest irons IMO
Got the Pro 223, love them!
my real question is how do they feel when they hit the dirt 10cm before the ball?
Played MB 714’s for almost a decade, just moved into the JPX SEL, night and day feel.
Big fan of nickle chromoly.. still playng maxfli revos black dots because of this. Cant wait to try these 923 Pros!
Mizuno!!!! they have always made amazing clubs!
These need to go in your bag Rick!!
I have a set of 223s and they are a wee bit tough but when you hit them clean....whew.....WHEW. Mizuno = quality....big time.
I’m currently using the 923 hot metal irons and they are great, before them I used the 921 hot metal pro irons and didn’t get on with them.
I’m still on my mp32’s from 2005. All flies off them and feels like butter.
I just bought a set and took them out and shot my lowest score ever (94)! Absolutely love them!
I still rock the MP30s 😂. They still feels so good
Mizuno is the absolute best for irons.
I love my Mizuno irons; bought a Mizuno driver a couple months ago and HATED it!
Would love to see you give the Mizuno Pro line a look. Think the 243 is right up your alley.
Hot metal 921 been great for me and confidence.
Those hot metals look amazing!! I have remember a few pro ever playing mizunos. If I could afford them.. I would make those hot metals my gamers.
Rick, swing is looking really smooth!
Rick can you do a video on Range Balls vs Major Brands, would be interesting to see numbers!
Or maybe you have already?
Good idea. They say add 10% but I would like to see some numbers also to gauge if 10% is applicable to all the clubs.
@@osiris7800 Yeah that would be great to see, also very interested in shapes and ball flights, if range balls dont move so much.. coz i'm always straight on the range haha
Mizuno is by far my favorite.
Not a fan of the strong lofted forgiving irons but then I'm not the target market. I'd consider a JPX 3 and/or 4 iron for a little help there but currently using MP-20 MMC set and not looking to change for the sake of change.
