I have 923’s, and they look way better than the 925’s in my opinion. Naturally being just one year old I won’t be changing my 923’s any time soon, but your results here have just confirmed it isn’t necessary anyway. I am indeed a toe striker like you mentioned at the end, not all the time but enough that the 923’s are a huge help to me when I do. Love your reviews, nice and to the point.
Outstanding video, sir... I am switching from the 919 (pro) to the 925 'standard' Five years makes a big difference when you're talking about the age of 52 to 57. The 30% more offset helps me now and the tech from the 919 to the 925 is distinct. Hope this helps somebody. Cheers!
Hi Fred, thanks for the kind feedback, have just replied to another viewers comment about should he upgrade model to model and explained that manufacturers don't expect the users of the previous model to be upgrading it's more the golfer running 2 or 3 or more models older, and this is exactly the case I was making... You are bang on with a lot changes in 3 models so really glad you are happy with your new purchase and may they serve you well going forward 👍🏻
@fredgaither1484 thank you! I've been waiting to see how much difference there is between the 919 HM's & the 925 HM's. I game the Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metals and have done so since March of 2019. They have been true magic for my game, hence my hesitation to upgrade. I've been thinking of getting fit for the 925 HM's and your comment, along with @AskGolfNut's review are definitely encouraging me in that direction.
I really enjoy your videos. You may be the most thorough reviewer on RUclips. The heel/toe comparisons are great for those of us who don't always find the center of the clubface. I recently picked up a set of 923 HM and love them. Wonderful forgiveness in a great looking package. IMO the 923's are a better-looking club. Keep up the wonderful content!
Thanks, Jay! I have JPX 923 irons I bought about 18 months ago. I have liked them, but I was wondering if I should run out and trade them in for 925's now. Your review has convinced me that all I need to do is hit the ball like you and I can continue to use the 923's. 😅
Really like the new info graphics in channel But I mostly like that I was gifted those 923’s yesterday. 6- pw Having a Son that reps Mizuno and gets new ones regular is handy!
Tested the 7-iron 925 Hot Metal last night at a Golf Galaxy (U.S. chain store) that uses Trackman. I currently use the Callaway Mavrik. I found the 925 to be slightly softer in feel, and the spin rate (about 5,400) to be higher than my Mavarik's. Distance is comparable. My club head speed is around 82/83 with about 168 carry. The 925 has less offset, which I prefer, as I normally hit a draw (in-to-out swing with a slightly open face) and the 925 was a little straighter. I am likely to order a custom set in 2-3 weeks. Thank you for the test.
Good deals are always wonderful to see and hear.... Not a fan of free fitting if you buy due to the clear selling aspect of the promotion. I always would prefer people pay for an unbiased fitting where commissions are removed from the process to allow for a fair and transparent fitting process 👍🏻
I was wondering if we would be seeing the 923s going on sale in the near future. My back surgeon has ruled out golf for me for the rest of this year, so I guess that I'll be putting off my iron shopping until early next year. 😢
Thanks! Ive got the 923 HM HL, based on this video, no point switching to the newer model 😂 the 923s are so great, I've lowered my HC by about 16 strokes since putting them in the bag. And they dont look like a game inprovement iron (too much haha) still big, but they look great in the bag. Great review!
This is exactly the video I've been waiting for. I'll stick with my 923's. BTW Jay....have you ever done a video of your single plane swing and why you use it/where you learned it? My old golf coach used to try to get me to convert. I hated it at the time (20+ years ago)....tried it again last spring and I'm loving it. Would love to see an instructional video from you on your swing.
I did do one similar to what you say about a little while ago but no one really cared to watch it... For fun here is the link for it.. ruclips.net/video/rFEX6W54zVM/видео.html
Being honest it's GCQuad thd launch monitor that keeps everything honest above board and transparent as if doesn't care what club I use, it just reads shots 👍🏻😊😊
I purchased my 923 once the 925 was released. I upgraded from the 825 to the 923. Frankly, there is no difference in the 925 to 923 but there is a HUGE difference between the 825 and the 923, once Mizuno released the 925 I got my new clubs on the low . Great review
Bought some 923s from 4 iron to gap wedge for $580 today at golf galaxy. I was shocked when the guy scanned them because they were priced at $789. So even better for me lol. I have only heard good things about them so i can’t wait to try them out
Coming very soon, hopefully on Thursday. Makes sure you are subscribed and also have the bell notifications turned on so you don't miss it's release 👍🏻👍🏻
Another great video! I’m gonna swap my 923 HMs for the 925 HMs. Although I prefer the look of the 923s, I like the slightly higher launch angle and better performance on low, heel and nominal toe hits. That said, mostly because I’m gonna switch to graphite shafts to save my 64 yo elbows. 😉
Great video, thanks for doing this one. I currently play 921 hot metal pro's. Thinking about the 925 pro's vs the 245's. for my next set. I swing 82 mph with a 7 iron. I love the forgiveness of the 925's, but I am intrigued by the 245's (looking to improve on the feel). Thoughts on that balance?
I recently had a few hits with the 925 on tour s shaft…… unbelievably soft and a good 10/12 yds longer. My only worry is, you term this as game improvement and I’m thinking I’m not in that bracket; play off 11.5, and currently use Taylor made rsi 1. It’ll also upset the rest of my hybrids which I use for 150 yds upwards. Is the 925 too soft with little feel which I do like?
The other was also toe down also but just not quite as much. The Stability Frame on the 923 HM was built around Toe Forgiveness when the new tech is more neutral biased in the head so physics will always win so it gives up some extreme toe forgiveness for being better from more useable parts 👍🏻
Absolutely, play my blades to 7 iron and then transfer to something like this that would effectively replace my longer irons with options that are easier to control. Absolutely makes sense 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Are the length between HM 923 and HM 925 different? Looking at a spec sheet looks like (5i) on 923 are 38 inch vs 38.25 inch on 925s. Does it make a difference ?
So just a bit of background, Mizuno have changed the way they measure irons. There has always been 2 ways to measure clubs and where most of the manufacturers have migrated over the years to the more now standard way, Mizuno had dragged their heels changing and that's why Mizuno have been seen to have been slightly made shorter than other brands when in fact they were basically the same. So no need to worry about length and either way if it was only 1/4 inch then the difference is so small it wouldn't make any difference 👍
@@AskGolfNutthank you for the insight, appreciate it. I ended up finding a mint set of 923 HM (still had wraps on them) for $710 that had the specs i needed ! Made my decision alot easier 👍🏻
Great bargains to be had but remember rarely are fully custom fitted options on sale as Mizuno and other manufacturers discontinue the old from custom when the new model is released 👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut true! I'm lucky enough to have a launch monitor and bending jig so I do my own tweaking. Would be nice to have a full custom fitting some day but even the good people around me do little more than I do in my garage.
Each model is now sold with it's own wedges GW etc as before they had the JPX wedge which was supposed to try and blend all the sets which was obviously difficult due to slight loft and look differences. Having their own wedges allow for the golfer to have a set which doesn't now differ from the top to the bottom 👍🏻
Generally never is between models.... Manufacturers as a general rule see golfers changing between 2 or 3 models old sets to upgrade so you've got a couple of years grace before you should be thinking about needing to upgrade 👍🏻👍🏻
Sad as it is with the time of reply here in the UK but I'm working on the edit now with it hopefully being released tomorrow afternoon..... Make sure you get the notification 🔔 bell on so you don't miss it's release 👍🏻
They've done very well to increase its forgiveness level over that of the 923. Is it enough to justify upgrading if you already have 923's well I'd probably agree, but I guess thats down to the individual golfer to decide 👍
@AskGolfNut I just hit them better for some reason, and the Pro's I have Graphite shafts and was fitted for both sets and still have both sets. Not a lot better but more consistent with the Pro's, could be the shaft.
@rickvann3489 interesting that, you were, fitted for both sets but you have Steel in one and Graphite in another, did you go through big swing changes or injury causing the shift? 👍🏻
@AskGolfNut nope, McGolf said I was fitted wrong and should not had been fitted for the 95 Regular flex steel shaft. So I was going to reshaft them after 6 months and just instead paid extra and hit the pro models better. But to be honest, I don't play enough to notice huge difference with any of the 6 sets I own. I got into a buying frenzy last year and bought some old McGregor irons with to stiff of shaft supposedly and hit them really good just about 5 yards shorter. I believe it's in the swing more so then the club. I have owned a set Mizzuno MP 32 and they were to stiff, reshafted them and when your swing is correct it is a very buttery feel like a pure feel or one where you hit a soft rubber ball.
