I am very interested in the HL's too. However, I am fearful they may be too left biased because of the amount of offset. How do they perform for you regarding shot shape?
I use the 923 HLs which are not much different than these 925s. I lost about a club of distance but now have much better dispersion and stopping power than my previous set (PXG 0211.) Of course my scores have gone down noticeably after the switch.
I will stick with my Cleveland Zipcore XL, most reviews I have seen rate them above these. And reading the posts where you discover that you had already done a review on these is wonderful, "Daddy Duty" what a wonderful reason to be tired!!!!!!
I have the HM 921 pro and I have no problems getting the long irons to stop on the green. Great forgiveness and easy to shape. Overall great club that I’ll play for another 5 or 6 years
Just had a fitting at sggt where these came out on top with the la golf graphite shaft which I saw you trying on their video. Great set of irons, replaced the p790 purely for more help in the longer irons
I have the 921 hot metal pros and they are the best irons I’ve had in 40 years of golf, most of which I’ve used Mizuno. I’m sure these are just as good and can be used by any handicap IMO.
I think you keyed into something really important. There are plenty of mediocre to bad golfers like me that struggle much more witha left miss.. many of these game improvement irons have too much offset. That’s why I ended up getting hot metal pros.
I am a relatively low hcap golfer (sub 5) and i find the whole "game improvement" thing quite interesting. Irons get bagged into game improvement and yet woods never seem to befall the same fate (and i do get the difference in terms of control vs distance). There are irons like these that have very respectable spin rates, good (if not tour standard) angle of decent, relatively workable (if not tour standard), that are more forgiving and add distance. These sort of clubs will help 99% of golfers out there (maybe not tour standard) to shoot lower scores. The argument of just going up club has a lot of holes in it (especially when you run out of irons to club up to). Would love to see a real long term test to see if these clubs improve scores for golfers playing off 25, 18, 12, 5, 0.... I have owned JPX clubs and loved them btw
I have the 923 hmp’s. It’s not often you see a brand make something look bigger but Mizuno have done that with the 925s for some reason. They just look chunkier. One thing to note the gap wedge may be new, the 923 gap wedge was more wedgey different design from rest of the set
I am really glad they went with a hollow body gap wedge. On my 923 hot metals they are a regular wedge and the gapping is not good for me and it doesnt feel the same. Lets be honest the "Gap" wedge is really just a pitching wedge. I get 145 y out of the pwedge and only like 110 from the gap. I definitely prefer to see it in a hollow body and match the set verses what I got.
Agree, the GAP is not gapped correctly as I too have a 25 yard difference between my PW and GAP but only a 10 yard difference between the 9 and the PW. Thought they would fix that after a few years.
I just got a set of these, but ordered them before I found out that I need another hand surgery. Only able to try them once, and really couldn't go all out. I conceded that old age meant that I should stick with the lighter 65 gram graphite shaft, rather than the heavier 85 gram version.
After watching you, Mr Dennis, and to a lesser extent Gaz, play your way around Woolley park multiple times, I feel like I know my way around your course lol
Never liked my JPX 919's with the little "vanes" in the cavities to improve feel and sound. Whenever I swing the longer irons, 4 and 5, I get a horse cough sound on the forward swing. Also cleaning the clubs the heads hold water which pours out when you turn the club over grip side down into the bag.
Personally speaking, I think it’d be like hitting a ball with an air wair boot. Let’s get back to forged blades where you risk rattling your arm up to your shoulder, that’s reet golf.
I have recently bought new clubs, (Callaway Paradym X). I still watch these review videos for the entertainment value. Keep them coming…maybe give Bobby a bit less stick though 😊
I imagine if you'd find these a bit long but like 'em, having the lofts & lies adjusted would pay big for ones' game and mental positivity!!! : ) ... esp with the HL! Be Safe
Pictures already out in the FE and look gorgeous. I play the 923 Forged and feel wonderful, far better than these normal ones. Well worth waiting I agree
@@chriscollier3197 they've already been released in Japan, I've seen pictures and I've got the spec numbers, I can't wait to hit them, I love the Forged feel, but I'm looking for a higher ball flight than I get from the JPX 900 Forged.
JPX 919, 921, 923 have the same tech with better looks! I play JPX 919 with Project X Lz Graphite 4.5 shafts perfect combination. Great carry and stopping power on the greens.
I played the hot metals for the past 4 1/2 years they are amazing and took me from a 12/14 to a 6.3. I started running into the problem of unintentional flyers. Literally having an 8 iron fly an additional 10 yards out of the blue. I do like to practice a lot is it possible that I have worn the clubs enough that I am getting a knuckle ball every once in awhile? Regardless they make the game easier and more enjoyable. Thanks James
I started with Mizunos Mp30 irons in 3-pw, they cost me £450 new and I'm still playing them as I love em. I wouldn't mind a set of 243/ 241 combos but At today's prices I'll have to stick with the Mp30s.
@JamesRobinsonGolf well yes, but you also did one month ago..., the thumbnail is called 'PERFECT!?'. Look it up yourself. That video ended with you complaining about the 9 iron not stopping quick enough and suggesting they don't spin enough. But this video today you're saying the landing angle makes them fine...?
Hahahaha I’m an idiot and owe you an apology! 😂🙌🏼 sleepless nights on daddy duty means unproductive secondary vids! Regards to the 9-iron stopping. It’s amazing how different conditions makes such a difference isn’t it! Also I guess it’s nice to get Chris’ opinions on them I guess 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@JamesRobinsonGolf ha, no problem. Both vids are good and fair reviews and I'll likely make them my winter clubs as a result. Now have the weekend off and catch up on some sleep. 😂
I do not like the look of these, but I suspect I am more of an MP range of iron player than the JPX range. Like James I loved the JPX Tour irons. As for performance, 175 yards carry with a 7i is impressive until you consider the loft of 28.5 degrees, that is a degree stronger than my i210 6i which I carry pretty much the same distance , although with less spin and has the peak height and descent angle to stop reasonably quickly on all but the hardest and bounciest of summer greens. And I do not swing my irons as fast as James does The problem for me with these irons is that the Srixon ZX4 just look so much better and perform really well.
You know exactly where you are: MP series - Trad look blades JPX series - Flat out "what can we do" 925 - model released in 2025 Then they optimise the gapping, and launch/descent angles re swing speed: HM - Hot metal Game improver HL - High launch for slow swing speeds Pro - slightly thinner, higher swing speeds, lower launch
Often we have found your reviews valuable. However we were extremely disappointed in this one due to your uncharacteristic unapologetic condescension. Obviously you do not understand the audience for equipment these days. It is the mid and high handicappers that keep the equipment business alive! Hopefully you will approach future reviews with a healthy respect for the audience.
Performance and feel improved over the 923’s. Just a shame about the looks, cos that is definitely a backwards step. But you take the performance gain all day. Might have to wait til late 2026 for the 927’s to come out - see if Mizuno can keep the performance and feel, but improve on the looks
Looks are subjective, I think they look fantastic, an ugly looking iron is the Cobra irons or the frankenstein PXG range of clubs with its mass of bolt heads all over it, now they are fugly.!
So guys… turns out I have reviewed these already… good news. We’ve gone mega in depth… I need more sleep 😂
It would be nice to see them compared to the mp 245’s
I have a set of HL’s. The have transformed my game. I’m a retired disabled Vet with back and neck issues. I can now hit approach shots to the Green!
My Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal have been amazing. I sold my TaylorMade P790s, because it wasn't even close for me.
I am very interested in the HL's too. However, I am fearful they may be too left biased because of the amount of offset. How do they perform for you regarding shot shape?

@@zazhou I don’t have your problem 😂 I could see where the offset could be an adjustment.
I don't really care how far the clubs go. What I need is what the distance between each club in the set is. Is it consistent and predictable.
Great irons. Love Mizuno. Many upgrade options (shafts and grips) at no charge.
Another great one James, keep them coming brother. Cheers

been playing JPX919 HMP for about 5 years now, such great irons got them fitted with DG 105g S-flex which has worked so well.
I think you keyed into something really important. There are plenty of mediocre to bad golfers like me that struggle much more witha left miss.. many of these game improvement irons have too much offset. That’s why I ended up getting hot metal pros.

Never knew that acoustic ribs would make the ball travel so far
Just been down to SGGT today and ordered a set of these, 63 yr old and needed a bit of distance and forgiveness back👍

Love Mizuno dating back to 1984 when I bought a set of Mizuno Pro Originals
Personally speaking, I think it’d be like hitting a ball with an air wair boot. Let’s get back to forged blades where you risk rattling your arm up to your shoulder, that’s reet golf.
Yep Mizuno irons so good you had to have a second look lol, but they are good 👍.
I have recently bought new clubs, (Callaway Paradym X). I still watch these review videos for the entertainment value. Keep them coming…maybe give Bobby a bit less stick though 😊
Do they have a forged face insert?
Hi James. The 925 Forged is available in Japan. Any news of the UK release date as I’m waiting to upgrade my 919 Forged set.😊
The tours you mentioned aren’t coming in jpx anymore, that style is being left to the MP line. The forged look much better n will be out next year
I imagine if you'd find these a bit long but like 'em, having the lofts & lies adjusted would pay big for ones' game and mental positivity!!! : ) ... esp with the HL! Be Safe
How do these compare to the Mizuno pro 225?
The Mizuno Forged come out in the next couple of months, so I'm waiting to see how they look and feel before I make any purchases.

Good review, could be my next irons.
Damned good looking club heads
Intrigued to know why you've done a 2nd review of these?
So you didn’t see me literally get them out of the wrapper in this video?

Will there be a Forged & Tour version I have the 921 forged and ❤them
My 923 hot metals are amazing and I can't see myself taking them out of my bag for a long, long time
well wrapped up! winter has arrived. maybe time for a trip to warmer climbs
"yeah it was the offset" ha ha ha ha ha ha

Selling my qi10s for the pros with mmt 105 stiff shafts. Hit them farther with more dispersion
They remind me of the Taylormade Sim2
Used to have jpx825 now got jpx 921 love both. Got me from 28 hc to my lowest hc of 8.9 I'm 64
They are forged and so much softer than TM P790s, the i530 is the closest but not as good a feel.
My Jpx 923 forged are the best irons I’ve ever hit and played
I love Mizuno’s I play the MP 225’s
Played the jpx223’s and they felt better on all strikes than my friends p770’s. Even if the p770’s look way better.
Test these vs. T350s
Nice.
Go Richard Jones get your self a set 😀
I will receive maltby ts1 IM heads next week

Are they better then 921 hot metals 😂😂😂😂. Come on mizunos stop releasing the same thing with a higher number
I’m first! Woohoo
Mizuno’s have looked awful over the last few models , the 921 range was great but these look horrible
They are mizuno so I’m sure will play well but they are ugly. Normally mizuno makes beautiful irons.
