Hey Nn Li I am very happy with this video, it will definitely be an asset for me in game. However, on my first run I made sure to look around thoroughly after defeating the Moblin and in that area there are crates you can destroy which has a shield in a chest behind it. I know it won't respawn, and I don't know if you already knew about it but it is a Savage Lynel Shield with a 62 strength level, (I think that's what that is called). Thank you so much! Even though I have already defeated Vah Ruta, all of my weapons broke and I was stuck using Bokoblin clubs and bows. This helped so much!
I followed this guide one year ago and it was a bit tough being a noob and not being able to parry or flurry but helped a ton! Although if you want a harder more emersive experience then don’t do this because you will be MASSIVELY overpowered and it takes the whole zero to hero aspect of the game out
This tip is for those of you who are able to brew or find an elixir that boosts your speed (not sure at which point in the game this is... fairly early in still I believe) if you use the elixir when trying to run up the “shrine” looking pillar it makes it a lot easier. Hope this helps, and thank you Nn Li for the tip on weapon collecting!
The most helpful tutorial I’ve ever seen in my life no matter what circumstance it is. Was afraid of this first time watching, but it was a breeze when I did it myself. Thank you so much😭
If you have the BOTW Dlc you should get the majora's mask beforehand because if any of the enemy's spot you they won't attack and you can just take the weapons. If your climbing that weird tower thing you should do a glitch that makes it so you can run and not use stamina, to do it just hold the whistle button and mash the sprint button
Thank you! My first time visiting your channel and this is one of the most excellent videos I have seen yet! You explain everything so well without over-explaining! I am so looking forward to the rest of your videos, thank you so much!
Subbed thanks for the video man this is a life saver. This is the like that I have dropped with a feeling that you really deserve it. Make more videos like this and you will have me hooked.
Dude I had to write and give u credit for this amazing video. I'm tight on time and the game is hard as hell so this video made it more fun to play. I have all the needed weapons from the beginning. BTW where u fight that tall pig looking guy there is a lynol shield there. Thanks for the awesome video
REMEMBER: There's more than one way to enter the castle! The steep wall I climbed in 5:45 to 9:00 is meant for players that want to get in as soon as they get the paraglider with no further requirements. That being said, it takes practice to climb the wall, but you get used to it! If you have the Zora tunic, you can swim up the waterfalls, and if you have two stamina wheels, you can just climb up from the bottom (or use the bottom half of the glowing wall as a jump-off point)!
Nn Li that route you have is alright but the other half of the good gear you missed. On the back side of Hyrule castle is pretty easy to paraglide to get into the docks. You can get the Hylian Shield but at early stages most new ppl can't get it but if ppl are willing, there are other royal and royal guard weapons there. Also if you go left into the docks, *boom* you get the great flameblade pretty easily as it just sitting in the ground. You then sneak strike the lizaflos next to u, sneak up the left stairs and activate the shrine. Now you have a teleport straight into Hyrule Castle without having to waste like 3 to 5 min up the pillar (which again is a pain, especially when it's raining). Also as you make your way up the stairs past the shrine, you'll hit the library section of Hyrule Castle. Sneak past or kill the lizaflos and follow ur map deeper into the castle, you'll find the great frostblade. This by far the most useful weapon early on as it freezes enemies on the spot. it also respawn after Blood Moons too. You should try it if you didn't know about it. I do like your route for the extra ancient and bomb arrows though.
^Damn, that's a really comprehensive guide in and of itself! There's a ton of stuff I missed. The amount of details and loot in Hyrule Castle alone is mindblowing; just another thing that sets BoTW apart from the other games :D
I also want to point out that in the armory room where you fight the Giant Moblin, there is a chest underneath the stairs. It contains a Savage Lynel Shield.
There are 3 of the Lynels by the Sha Gehma Shrine going east and west. I killed one and almost crapped my pants when 2 more popped up. I was up there meat hunting. I remember when I would transport out of the areas when a Lynel showed up......Now they have to die. Once you get them figured out, they are a piece of cake. Good thing because it takes a lot of Lynel parts to upgrade armor. Good video.
This is a really good walkthrough just to note when I followed the video in the Armory under the stair cases there are 2 chests one as got a Shard of Naydras Fang the other as got a savage Lyne shield the access point was cover by boxes I blew them up and walked in to get the goodies Thanks for the video
There are actually not one but THREE Lynels right around that Sha Gehma Shrine in the Hebra area. The other two are just off to the left and right of the one you have marked. They also happen to be holding one of each weapon type, so you can get all three types of Lynel weapons from them. The one marked is a Savage Lynel Sword & Shield holding Lynel, the one to the Left is a Savage Lynel Crusher holding Lynel and the one to the Right is a Savage Lynel Spear holding Lynel. This definitely makes it the best and easiest Lynel farming spot in the game. Also worth noting that there is yet another Lynel in the forest just below the one he has marked near the Akalla Tech Lab.
I have all the lynel points in the game. Theyre usually in bunches of 2 or 3 per region. (excluding some places like eldin, Dueling peeks, wasteland and tabantha regions) but there are 19 that spawn in the overworld. This excludes the castle which has another 2. Your surprisingly not far from their relatives. For example, your favorite lynel has two relatives near him. One to the east and one to the west. About a one minute jog in either direction.
Just FYI: the best way to consistently 'charm' a horse is to use a spur, wait for it to slow down again, and _then_ press L. Doing that will increase your bond with it every single time, as noted by the sparkly pink hearts.
or just feed them enough apples! Hold an apple and stand near / hold it near their mouth, wait a bit, and they'll eat it and it ups the bond gauge. I think they'll only eat a few at a time (or maybe just until its maxed?) but it is a fairly easy method that doesn't actually require continuous riding. Of course you still have to sneak up to it and all of that first, to my understanding.
@@katherinehutchinson7830 Yeah, I got tired of spamming the soothe button. I have nearly 200 apples that I go apple picking to replenish every so often, so even a difficult wild temperament horse will be 100% bonded after like 5-7 apples, in my experience anyway.
You know, I was half expecting you to also talk about the Hylian Shield in this video. I've heard it's not that hard to get and it seems like a pretty damn good shield for early game.
Nn Li dude I gotchu. I should note some minor spoilers incase you wanna find it yourself though. If you head to the entrance bridge and head left into the water, there's this entrance into a cave. You'll know if you're in the right place when you see a cooking pot and a torch. If you head through the cave, it should say "West Passage" and have a minecart which you activate via remote bomb. Ride it a bit and you should enter into the second part of the cave and if you explore a bit there should be a few statues to your left and decayed guardians to your right. I think if you just keep going you should hit a bombable wall and after that there's a fork in the road, which is when you wanna head left and hit a place called "Lockup". Afterwards there should be another bombable wall that opens up to a closed cell. Then you shoot the eye monster and head left to a pile of bones and it's kinda self explanatory after that. I think with the gear you gathered in the video it's definitely possible.
ArosofWind7 The Hylian Shield would be ass easy after all the steps that the guy has talked about. Just spam Ancient Arrows at his eye and use the Royal Guard Claymore and tada!
ScyCorp Me too. I actually found it later, Stalnox isn't too hard. Plus he drops good weapons and (obviously) leaves the chest with the shield in it for you.
If you want to avoid combat in this area, I would advise you to get Majora's Mask if you have the first DLC. You can get it from the garrison ruins near Komolo Lake, which is literally within sight from the north of the Great Plateau.
Just to add on, in the final room with the moblin and lizafalos (I tried) under the staircase when going to the moblin there is a breakable wall with a savage lynyl sheild on the other side
I have just started playing not to long ago and I just did use your video and I did as you said and I found something you didn't know about. After you get the Royal Claymore there are some wooden boxes on the left of the stairs as you climb them. Drop back down and throw a bomb by them and a secret bomb wall is behind the boxes with a chest. A Savage Lynel Shield is in that chest.
Thanks A LOT for this video! I originally saw it like 2 years ago, and it helped me to enjoy even more this game. The first time I did it I used the weapons to kill the Lynel at Zora's place. I broke most of them doing it, but hey, I did kill it! And I still go to the castle after starting a new game even now days :D
Preeeeeetty informative video, and I'm sure you know this three years later, but it's honestly 10000x easier to just learn to deflect Guardian lasers than to take SUCH a roundabout path to Hyrule Castle. I'm no pro speedrunner, but basic savescumming makes doing so infallible (And rewarding)
Now link he come to town he come to save the princess Zelda ganon took her away now the children don't play That song is stuck in my head when I hear the Hyrule castle botw soundtrack
super awesome video, I had zelda botw for almost a year now and I didnt want to play it because it felt boring runing around in a basic hyrule outfit with weapons that break after 1 or 2 hit without effectively kililng anything. This will help me on my journey I am now gonna start lol.
If you have they money, I personally recommend buying it 100%. In my opinion, BoTW isn't just the best Zelda game: it's the best game Nintendo has ever made! :)
If you haven't played the game yet going to the castle is just going to get you killed a million times unless you get good fast. It will take dedication, time, skill, and also not getting hit at all. I 100% recommend the game, don't worry about getting the best gear on your first play through, just enjoy the game.
I haven't enjoyed a game this much in a long time. I've put more time into this than I have into all my games on Xbox One combined. It's sort of reinvigorated my love for gaming. I'm excited to see what else Nintendo can do with Mario and Metroid after this game. Buy it!
Simon buy this game!! I actually bought it because my mom made me, she always enjoyed playing zelda games and when she saw a zelda game for the switch she practically ordered me to buy it, so I bought it, and at first since this is my first ever zelda game, I felt like I was at mars, since I didn't even know link was or Ganon, but now this game has taken my heart! I play it 24/7 and it's indeed best game Nintendo has made so far.
Thanks for everything. Literally I was lost this whole game. This is my first time playing Zelda, I feel like if you never played Zelda from the start, you will never get it and you helped me learn to love the game to be honest. Thanks Mr. sir.
You can also get the Edge of Duality by getting a treasure from the Trial of Power, in a shrine close to the Central Tower. That rhymes, I know. In the shrine there are some things with each of the four original runes (not camera, MC0 or amiibo) and 2 mini guardians that you have to defeat (that is the room that it is in)
just wanted to say while following along with this there are some shock arrows in the chest in the river to the left while ur outside on the castle walls at around 5:00 to the left and also a chest with a "shard of naydra's fang" and a chest with a "savage lynel shield" under the stone staircases when u fight the two lizalfos and the moblin just wanted to mention it thanks for the video
Under the first set of stairs in the Guard's Chamber there are some leaves hanging along the side and if you burn those there is a treasure chest under those stairs. Also the second set of stairs down where you fight the big Moblin there are some crates and if you bust those up there's a treasure chest under those stairs as well.
Great video. The room at 15:15 has a secret chest under the stairs. Blow up the boxes to reveal. It is a 62 Savage Lynel Shield. Back up stairs where the 2 Lynel were there is a chest behind the leaves under those stairs. It holds a Shard of Naydra's Fang.
You don't need to beat the game to get silver lynels outside the colosseum; I haven't beat ganon yet (on purpose) and most of my lynels are silver. (and I know the difference between white mane and silver lynels.) enemy scaling seem to be a mix of number of whatever type of enemy you killed and number of divine beasts cleared for others.
I've been hearing and researching a lot of varied ideas of what the exact conditions to spawn Silver Lynels are (outside of the coliseum, of course). I'm going to have to verify later, but as far as I can tell, beating Ganon is the guaranteed way of getting them to spawn.
Didn't he say the one at the Gerudo Higlands would always be a silver lynel? Aswell as I'm pretty sure he meant that they change with the amount of divine beasts you've done.
No, he said the gerudo highlands lynel is always a white mane lynel, not a silver one. White mane lynels are the equivalent of black enemies while silver lynels are well...the silver equivalent.
Ah, I hear it now! What I meant to say is, if you didn't progress the plot at all, it will be a White Lynel, guaranteed. However, if you defeat Ganon, the spot will have a Silver Lynel. I worded it differently, so I can see why I could be misunderstood!
After defeating the monster who holds the royal guards claymore (I forgot the name of the monster) under the staircase are some wooden boxes that if destroyed will reveal a chest holding a Savage lynel shield
My go-to spot for good equipment early game is a cave just northwest of Gerudo Tower. You just need to use the Bomb or Stasis Rune to get the boulders blocking the entrance out of the way, and inside you a Moonlight Scimitar, an Edge of Duality, a Gerudo Spear, a Golden Bow, and a Radiant Shield. You'll also find a couple of chests, one of which holds a Gold Rupee. Best part, it all respawns after a Blood Moon, so until enemies start dropping Royal Broadswords regularly, it's a great spot to get re-equipped.
a good thing I found to start a save file is to enter the colusseum from the top and stealth loop the enemy to get an entire Soldier's set for little effort, then the ancient tree stup is great to get a 32+ damage very early on. Another thing I could suggest is to clear a Shrine in the Hyrule field with an edge of duality as first reward but that doesn't respawn so if you want to have a good high damage weapon early on without worrying about abusing it and breaking it too early I'd still suggest to stick with the great flameblade. You can also grab a moonlight scimitar and some other goodies by sneaking on the Hinox west of the outskirt stable for some better gear than what you would find in the colusseum and that's pretty much all I'd suggest really early on in the game if you do want to 100% it and not just pseudo-speedrun trough it.
15:21 under the stairs there you get a savage lonely shield it has 60 defense I didn’t see that in the video so I just wanted to point that out Edit: in the guards room look under all the stairs because under another set of stairs in them at room I found a shard of naydras fang
I actually did this by accident to be honest, I thought I was supposed to go there immediately. Later I found out that I was insanely unprepared but still got so many high level weapons and sellable gems that it was worth it.

I followed this guide one year ago and it was a bit tough being a noob and not being able to parry or flurry but helped a ton! Although if you want a harder more emersive experience then don’t do this because you will be MASSIVELY overpowered and it takes the whole zero to hero aspect of the game out
I been playing for 45+ hours and this was still SUPER HELPFUL. Thanks so much!
Ps: this was uploaded on my birthday:D
Pavansai K Glad I could help! And happy belated birthday!!
I'm using this again after a blood moon XD cause the weapons enemies drop are really good
Sai K happy late birthday
My birthday is March 5th 😊
iv been playing for 440 hours... HELP ME
This tip is for those of you who are able to brew or find an elixir that boosts your speed (not sure at which point in the game this is... fairly early in still I believe) if you use the elixir when trying to run up the “shrine” looking pillar it makes it a lot easier. Hope this helps, and thank you Nn Li for the tip on weapon collecting!
The most helpful tutorial I’ve ever seen in my life no matter what circumstance it is.
Was afraid of this first time watching, but it was a breeze when I did it myself. Thank you so much😭
The first lienell I've encountered was the one near zora's domain
Edit: fixed spelling
Lionelle?
Lynel
@@allforeverything4572 yeah Lionelle. The female one is by Zoras domain
Same
I didn’t defeat the Lynel, I just got the shock arrows by sneaking. Lol
finally someone that just states the info straight up rather than endless padding thank good sir
Kinge Rhoambospherous Hyrule: don't go directly towards the castle
Nn Li: fine, I will get a horse, and *then* go
I’m a beginner and by no means a gamer and you got me through doing all of that so obviously a great tutorial!!!
Agree
thanks so much. im tired of using the damn boko spears xD
When link was running up that wall all I could think about was "Spider-Man Spider-Man"
You're not the only one.
*DOES WHATEVER A SPIDER DOES*

This is the most clear and helpful guide I've seen thus far. Thank you.
You good sir deserve a like for that awesome horse landing in the intro 👍🏻
Awesome guide dude. I know this game came out like 6 years ago but I finally got around to it and it’s amazing. Will keep me busy for weeks.
You should definitely have more subs, because these are great tutorials! Keep up the great work!
Marvelous Mudkip Tcg I'm just happy to help people maximize their enjoyment of my new "All-Time Favourite Game"! :D
Same here! This game is da best
Nn Li my god you sound like a youtuber call batsee lol
btw nice video
What is "batsee"? Lol
First time playing Zelda (July 2020) and I did everything step by step (with the latest update applied). Thank you very much!! 😃👍🏾
when you say 'this is our destination", showing the map for reference would be extremely helpful
Tom Bombadil he hasnt unlocked the map yet
Teo Kaucher he has, unless you do a glitch, it’s literally a minute into the game including the dumb cutscenes.
@@valsagar4917 no you idiot, you need to go to towers to unlock the map, he just unlocked great plateau
I literally followed everything you said from the beginning and now I'm kitted up. Thanks a million friend.
I also want to point out that in the armory room where you fight the Giant Moblin, there is a chest underneath the stairs. It contains a Savage Lynel Shield.
Dude I am more than halfway through the game and it STILL helps THANK YOU
Wow great weapons never gonna throw them *Breaks* GAHHH
They respawn after a bloodmoon
Yeah he’s right
There are 3 of the Lynels by the Sha Gehma Shrine going east and west. Good video.
13:57 "perfect dodge"
LOL only frame perfect gameplay here! :D
Lol
This is a really good walkthrough just to note when I followed the video in the Armory under the stair cases there are 2 chests one as got a Shard of Naydras Fang the other as got a savage Lyne shield the access point was cover by boxes I blew them up and walked in to get the goodies
Thanks for the video
I spent 20 minutes watching this without noticing the time
There are actually not one but THREE Lynels right around that Sha Gehma Shrine in the Hebra area.
Gene Gorzynski Ah! Very helpful to know! Thanks :)
(Lynels are gonna be extinct before long)
Do any of those lynels shoot fire or bomb or regular arrows? Because all the ones I find shoot ice or shock arrows and they keep killing me.
Simon Maier They shoot fire arrows too. Not sure about bomb or regular.
Wow. This is useful information.. It was a nice bonus having Kumar narrate the video.
Just FYI: the best way to consistently 'charm' a horse is to use a spur, wait for it to slow down again, and _then_ press L. Doing that will increase your bond with it every single time, as noted by the sparkly pink hearts.
Good to know! Going to have to do that the next time I decide to tame a horse.
or just feed them enough apples!
I have nearly 200 apples that I go apple picking to replenish every so often, so even a difficult wild temperament horse will be 100% bonded after like 5-7 apples, in my experience anyway.
i did that without even knowin lol
Seven years later and i’m still watching this awesome video. I’m honestly not sure why though, I don’t even play botw anymore.
You know, I was half expecting you to also talk about the Hylian Shield in this video. I've heard it's not that hard to get and it seems like a pretty damn good shield for early game.
Bit of a confession: I have no idea where it is LOL
But you're right, it's definitely within reach if you know how to get it!
Missed a chest in the room at 20:00
If you want to avoid combat in this area, I would advise you to get Majora's Mask if you have the first DLC.
Ni li:can’t carry any more shields that’s embarrassing
Me:it happens to everybody
Did this on my first try, dodged all guardians. Took no dmg. Ur a beast, ty.
There are chests underneath the guards chamber stairs, one of which contains a savage lynel shield.
Whats happened to your channel bruh?? 8D. One minute your at 200, the next 700?? Congrats, just subbed!
Welcome aboard! Together, we can rule this world!
Nn Li Yeah. I can already imagin the crown. Do you know the youtuber BeardBear?
Yup, his videos are incredible! It's thanks to them that I learned the existence of Silver Lynels :D
Nn Li He is great. An amazing player too
i subscribed
This is the single best BOTW guide I have ever seen!!!!
Would it be possible to get the Hylian Shield in this run?
yep, just drop in from the north of the castle instead of the south
1matto your gonna need to beat a boss tho
And you'll prob need arrows to shoot the eye. It's a Stalnox. But ur still gonna get a bunch of weapons stuck in the stalnox's skin.
1matto Tried it myself, SUPER easy, actually, if you grab the good weapons. Took me literally a few seconds to beat him.
Indeed very easy to beat the Skeleton Hinox
Preeeeeetty informative video, and I'm sure you know this three years later, but it's honestly 10000x easier to just learn to deflect Guardian lasers than to take SUCH a roundabout path to Hyrule Castle. I'm no pro speedrunner, but basic savescumming makes doing so infallible (And rewarding)
11:45 aw omg! Look at link when he kicks the box, he hurts his foot! I didn’t know he did that if he has no armour that’s actually hilarious
Thanks man! Just got this game and was getting close to finish the lynel. Very helpful:) liked and subbed
Now link he come to town he come to save the princess Zelda ganon took her away now the children don't play
That song is stuck in my head when I hear the Hyrule castle botw soundtrack
Ganon took her away, now the children don't play, but they will when Link saves the day, HALLELUJAH!
super awesome video, I had zelda botw for almost a year now and I didnt want to play it because it felt boring runing around in a basic hyrule outfit with weapons that break after 1 or 2 hit without effectively kililng anything. This will help me on my journey I am now gonna start lol.
Oh man, im torn between buying this game and not buying, and it feels wrong to Watch all these Straight away.
If you have they money, I personally recommend buying it 100%. In my opinion, BoTW isn't just the best Zelda game: it's the best game Nintendo has ever made! :)
Nn Li I will think about it, thank you :)
Dude thank you so much for this video! VERY HELPFUL. Now I can beat those Lynels!
Oh my goodness! I somehow managed to do it! Lmao. Thank you so much!
I don’t understand how you did it so easily. ;-;
Started following your guide and i found a savage lynel shield under steps in armory
Wut
Whoops sos
TheSabre74, You mean guards chamber.
0:51 so what you want to do is take your horse to the old town road and ride till you can’t no more
Lol
You don't need to beat the game to get silver lynels outside the colosseum; I haven't beat ganon yet (on purpose) and most of my lynels are silver. (and I know the difference between white mane and silver lynels.)
enemy scaling seem to be a mix of number of whatever type of enemy you killed and number of divine beasts cleared for others.
SKKiro I almost feel like everyone is going back and forth on which Pokémon versions they saw available at GameStop
Ah, I hear it now! What I meant to say is, if you didn't progress the plot at all, it will be a White Lynel, guaranteed. However, if you defeat Ganon, the spot will have a Silver Lynel.
I worded it differently, so I can see why I could be misunderstood!
This was actually so helpful I bought the game a few years late and my friends wouldn’t help me
After defeating the monster who holds the royal guards claymore (I forgot the name of the monster) under the staircase are some wooden boxes that if destroyed will reveal a chest holding a Savage lynel shield
A moblin had the royal claymore
thanks!
At 15:47 there's a chest under the stairs behind the wood blocks if you explode those you get a savage lynel shield which has 62
When you have already best the game but your just wachting for fun
Kind of makes you miss the hookshot
Maybe botw 2
They said it was to OP smh
Imagine if they made a hook shot rune and they limit its range more and you need to have some stamina for each shot while climbing
Why Did They Take It Away ?
maybe we get lucky and 2.0 will give us one yeah?
a good thing I found to start a save file is to enter the colusseum from the top and stealth loop the enemy to get an entire Soldier's set for little effort, then the ancient tree stup is great to get a 32+ damage very early on.
15:21 under the stairs there you get a savage lonely shield it has 60 defense I didn’t see that in the video so I just wanted to point that out
Edit: in the guards room look under all the stairs because under another set of stairs in them at room I found a shard of naydras fang
I think you mean lynel. Not Lonely.
I actually did this by accident to be honest, I thought I was supposed to go there immediately. Later I found out that I was insanely unprepared but still got so many high level weapons and sellable gems that it was worth it.
