Harry and Tennis Spin team, I think it is time for you guys to do a top 10 Yonex video. Seems like you guys feel Regna 98> DR98> Vcore 95 '18> Vcore 95 '23> Vcore 98 '23?... or maybe 98 is greater than 95 on the '23... Maybe the Ezone 98 beats VCore?
Anyway, think it would be an interesting video and would love to hear your thoughts on the All-time great Yonex racquets.
Thanks, you convinced me. I just ordered mine from Windsor Racket shop and will pick it up with a friend of mine when I go later this year to Japan :)
"this shouldn't even he held by you" burnnneddd🔥🔥🔥
Harry, thanks for the review, ordered, liked it, never switching! Strung mine with Solinco Confidentials on mains at 48lbs and Luxilon Alu Power rough on a crosses at 46lbs, both strings 16 gauge.
After watching the video of his trip to the Windsor Racquet Shop in Shibuya, it appears his "out-the-door" cost for the racquet was approx $275 (after subtracting the cost of the free set of string and no tax). Yonex actually recommends you use one of their multi's, but I've found Yonex Poly Tour Rev 1.2 white or Tour Bite Soft 1.2 white feel awesome at 48#s. I personally like the 100" over the 98" due to the weight distribution/difference. The 98 is good for baseliners IMO. I also have the Vcore Pro 97 (330g) and Vcore 98 (red). The Regna is so much better in feel and control and I win more points with this racquet.
Thank you for your review! Just got my hands on this Regna 98! Looking forward to trying it! I was thinking to string it at 50lbs with Zero Restring, do you have any tension recommendation? I mostly hit with from the baseline with a good amount of top spin.
I currently use the 2023 Vcore 100 with Zero string at 50lbs and love that setup.
Thanks!
You guys are awesome players and should use the Regna! Life is short. Happy tennis.
That´s my thought. If you own it, use it, don´t put it in a box. Enjoy what you have.
Amazing!
Will buy ya a coffee if you review the new Wilson Pro Staff X V14…bronze gold looking thing. ☕️🎾🎾
My best friend is living in Tokyo so i'm super lucky to have 2 Regna 98 310g : the best racket ever !
Pure Strike is better
I was lucky to get a new Gen 2 and 3 at the same time few months ago. Only Gen 2 was strung with Yonex Aeron guts. Hits like a beauty. Anesthetics wise, Gen 2 looks better in the matt finish.
Harry, I'm glad you found your favorite racquet. Yes it's expensive but you worked hard and provides good content to your viewers so enjoy it! Your trip getting this racquet is like the old kung fu movie going afar to the mountain top to search for the jewel sword. Lol. Enjoy your racquet! Look at your smile when you hold the racquet!
What an incredible looking racquet! This is going to be your next giveaway, right? 😂
hello, what's the differences between Regna v1 and V3 ? i read the V2 has added the dampening system that took away a bit of feeling, but how v1 would compare to v3 ? wait your reply thanks! 😎
How does it compare to the Yamaha Secret 04-06/EX models or the Mizuno 8.9/9.2 frames ?
Wait, if it’s new, where can I order it? Can’t find it except on eBay😅
TW had a limited number of these earlier this year. I bought and pwn more than a few of them. Is it better than every other frame? I cant say. Is it different than every other frame, especially considering its specs? Yes!
What did you string this up with?
If you love tennis and Yonex, this is the best, compare it to golf, it's so much cheaper than a full set of clubs lol. There's no way people shouldn't try this. Plus, anytime I see people complaining about the price, I wonder if they have 5-10 inferior rackets at home they spent their money on when they could have purchased Regnas.
wait harry. I got The version 3 myself and I got the regna bag.. not the nbig bags you got... didn't you get it? also have you got the buttcap yet? since I noticed I think you shot those few weeks ago~
Hi, how did you string the Anger (sorry! Regna) 98?
What string would you recommend?
I have this racket - with tour bite 1.25 and it's literal heaven
Sounds like a winner...
I own a Gen2 98, played with many different string set up for 10 months. Recently got the Gen3 98 and the first time playing with it, I could feel the difference in the Gen3. It is an absolute awesome racket if you are able to swing it. This racket provides very good control/ power/ spin. I have been able to generate more controllable power than ever using the Gen3!
where did you get it?
wait, what? Didnt just the paintjob change?
What is the different between Version 2 and Version 3? Which one was the model available at Tennis Warehouse recently? According to Yonex Japanese site (2021-08-06 tennis news), they mentioned that 1st Gen Regna was released in 2014, and 2nd Gen was in 2019. So the current iteration may be a redevelopment of the 2nd Gen Regna in Version 2 & possible version 3??
Same doubts!!
I was a big fan of Vcore 95 and vcore pro 97 but these have been sitting in the dusts after I was able to get my hands on the 3rd gen regna. Is it worth the $? For me, yes.
are you playing like goat tennis with it?
How does this compare to Regna 100? Thanks
What was the specs of it strung?
Am a fan of yonex, still love using mg very olad rackets. Paints and grommets are looking bad now bad still makes me wanted playing with it. Best quality rackets
I use the diadem elevate tour 2023 model and it's amazing. Favorite racket I've ever swung. Just a brick house of a racket.
Same materials than the old Graphene Head generation, same muted feeling...
@@seachangeseachange Kraibon yes, but the rest of technology is the same? Foam etc? Never used Head G, that's why I'm asking. I play with Diadem Elebate V3 for over one month and it feel little different than Elevate V2, but I'm very happy to be honest with it.
@@jj_nashtackle I respect your feelings, I don't have the same
What strings did you use on the racket and what tension did you end up stringing at? Also what store in Japan did you find the racket at?
Watch his Japan videos you’ll see it. You want one?
@@DainichiKichi I mean if you saw it you could of just told me the price. :p. Heading to Japan in a few weeks might be able to grab one if I see it.
I was able to purchase two 3rd gen frames from a proxy service called buyee after Lafino play tested and tennis Windsor interviewed the engineers
Yeah, I bought 2 frames from buyee as well, that's the way to get them!
Thanks for the info, Akira. Just placed an order for a pair via Buyee!
Now you (Harry) have both the regna 100 and regna 98. Which do you prefer? Coach Gu is a better player and obviously prefers the 98. Harry as a recreational player, which do you prefer? And is the grip size on the Regna larger as some reviews have said? Thanks as always. And go back and purchase a Proton tennis ball machine.
You should give it to coach Gu for helping you out with so many videos :)
what is the specs strung?
Strung with what at what tension?
But why no pros on the atp tour use Regna if it’s that good?
I would never pay $475 for a racket. I don’t care how nice it is, it’s a f’ing tennis racket!! I’ve watched the price point for rackets tick up from $200 to $269 in the last decade, while the quality control standards get worse and the rackets are almost all made in China, (except Yonex) with the cheapest labor and materials possible. The Regna is a test to see how much people are willing to pay for a niche item that’s hyped up to be the greatest racket ever manufactured. I guarantee you every racket manufacturer is watching this closely and laughing. They’re all going to come up with a similar scam. Don’t fall for it people.
People also pay for shirts that cost this much. Even if it's not better enough to justify the price, the price might justify the price alone. You know what I mean? It's a flex. It's a rarity. It's a luxury item. If I really wanted one, I'd pay for it. It wouldn't be about getting a good deal on a racket, it would be about getting the Regna. Same reason you buy a Lambo or something. You don't get it because it makes sense or because it's a better car. So it's nice the racket world has something like that and it only costs maybe twice as much as a regular racket. I really don't think it's something to get mad about.
U clearly have no idea how much japanese craftsmanship goes into it
What strings did you use and at what tension ?
He usually strings with solinco confidential at 50lbs
How can you tell the difference between version 2 and 3 ??
Just a new paint job
I live in Tokyo and always go to Windsor when I want my rackets restrung. They always seem to have some Regnas in stock, so as long as people can make the trip, I don't think most will have a problem purchasing it.
Which store did you get it from?
Watch the Japan trip...
Hey I’m 13 and I use a Wilson clash 100L V2 do you think that is good for me?
Your Clash V2 is better
You should have bought a pair of those Regnas... Just to make the trip worthwhile
How much is it ?
380
Looks really nice but I am pretty sure it's no better or worse than most racquets. I have tested different tweener racquets and they are all very playable. Maybe I am just not very equipment sensitive.
Thanks for the content. I am a little confused why you’re not playing with this racquet given how much you adore how it plays. You say they’re expensive and hard to find… yes, but you actually own one! Do you need more than one before it passes the play test? If so, that’s crazy and sounding a little entitled given the majority of rec players out there only have one stick. Life’s too short, just enjoy this racquet which gives you so much satisfaction out on court.
RA should be 63, Tennisonly had (or still has?) its specs on their homepage.
If you get past its vanity, the Ezone 98 ‘22 is a better racket. I am sure it’s amazing…but a lot of marketing. Do any pros use this?
Its just like a Pure Strike VS/97 and simular to Prestige MP.
Low swing weight no?
👍
For such an expensive racquet, it's disappointing that they don't come with a better quality cover.
I think it depends on the shop, i also bought regna in osaka japan, and i got a better cover, thick scuba material, regna logo, i really lucky🤟
@@dinaegg5175 , same here. I bought mine in Osaka at Racket Plaza, and the cover is really nice...
I love Yonex the best
Looks like DR shape...can you check
$313 is not alot of money if you earning dollars. It's only about $50 more than any other good racquet.
I only play with my Regna. We only live once to enjoy it… 🙂👍
I played with the Regna 98 (Gen 2, Gen 3 is just a paintjob anyway) for some time now and I prefer another racket. It is a very good racket though, but so are other ones. I feel the Regna 98 is a bit underpowered against hard hits. The RF97A or the T-Fight 305 ISO, Blade Pro or even Ezone 98 leaded up are better options for me.
The argument that no pro players use this stick is 100% valid. If it would be actually better than the other rackets, they WOULD use it. It's nonsense to think otherwise. Let's keep it real...
Agreed. Blade Pro (H22) and Pro Staffs are great, aren't unusually expensive, and are probably the most accessible pro-level frames. You need to add weight to be like the pros, but so do the pros, and it's not difficult to do. As for a $700 racket, no thanks, because it's not going give me enough edge to beat a better player, and losing with one would be super embarrassing!
Harry, you didn't mention what you strung it with. If you prefer not to reply here, please mention it in your next video. Btw, I have never heard Coach Gu gush so much over a racket...
Yeah I wanted to know what strings he used
I’m sure it’s confidential, always his go-to
@@jorgetirado3201 , does Confidential come in black? I'm not sure, but it should be easy enough to find out...
@@walterhayley7252 it's a pretty dark grey that looks almost black in the videos. Really good string
I could maybe afford it, but I just can’t.
Compare it to xi98
It's more round, like tennis racquets are supposed to be.
463 on eBay!
Question to everyone here -- why do you think we don't see more pros use / endorse the Regna?
The pros may very well be using the Regna but not endorsing it. It is more profitable for Yonex to have them endorse models with mass appeal. I am sure that the Regna's design was influenced by Yonex's experience with its professional clients.
Pro's actual racquets are all likely customized to their own specs already, and Regna is a low-volume luxury product that is not mass manufactured. There's no need to endorse Regna since you can't buy it anyway. :p
I'm shocked Yonex haven't yet got a restraining order against Harry for stalking their Regna.
No actual description of how it plays...?? Just fawning over it.
It may be lovely, rare, pretty, all that but what's it like to use?
They did a review of how it plays before. The version 2 and version 3 of the Regna is the same racket mold and materials with a new cosmetic
We can't all get everything for free now !
why don't pros play with this thing?
With the right player, a Regna would be considered one of the finer choices available but for the average player, it's probably not a tool they would find deceptively better than a racquet that is built more closely in line with their level of ability. Construction and attention to detail-wise, it likely has few if any contemporary peers but from an ownership perspective, it could be a horrible choice for someone looking for a muted experience or a racquet with a bit more sweet spot and thus, something more forgiving to a problematic elbow. It's why one player's gold is another player's sold.
LMAO
Why any pro used this Racket 🤷🏻♂️❓
சுழல் டென்னிஸ்
No the best racket is the clash 98 v2!
If this racquet is actually that good and special, why are there like NO pros using this mold/layup? Seems to me like a modern marketing machine... "I'll tell you its the best and you pay me for that" LOL
Pro players are endorsed with the purpose of selling racquets to the public. They use custom made racquets with paint jobs of the racquet they are trying to promote. The Regna is expensive and exclusive. There is no point of advertising it. Companies want to sell the mass produce racquets.
@@eduardohuerta5460 I get your point, but as you said sponsored pro players could use it if they want to. They all use customised frames with new paintjobs but from my research there are no current pros who are using the regna mold/layup... makes me wonder!
Do you know he actually sells it at his store? As far as I know he doesn't stock them and they are hard to come by
@@nightowldickson Yes, for normal consumers like us they are very limited and expensive. But if you're a sponsored pro, yonex will prob. give you access to any of their racquet molds/layups...
Why pay somebody to sponsor a $400 racquet you can't keep on the shelves? It's like if Wilson actually paid somebody to endorse the H22
For a proper objective review instead of all this fanboy slobbering, watch the Regna playtest by AC Tennis. And he refers to the racquet by its correct name. Only Harry will continue to insist on his inane practice of calling it “Ray-na”, even after he’s visited Japan where no one says it that way. 🤦♂️
It's just an overpriced Vcore 98...
there is no way you're supposed to pronounce that "G" in Regna. I feel like you're trolling us.
In Japanese the "g" is always hard...
@@walterhayley7252 you just blew my mind
wait, so is it a Japanese word or name?
@@RollinLeonard , well Regna is made in Japan by Yonex, but the word "Regna" does not exist in Japanese (at least as far as I know). Still, I've heard a few people here say the word, and they always pronounce it with a hard "g"...
@@walterhayley7252 since it isn't a Japanese word or name that hard "g" rule can't apply right? Maybe they chose that name because it's beautiful. When you throw a hard "g" in there it is absolutely revolting.
If its so great , why do no professionals use it , i mean its not like someone playing professional tennis couldn't afford it. I tend to think you're over hyping it or at least a few pro players would use it.
They tennis spin a fair amount of bullshit
I've never played one either. So you may be right, but it's a pretty big deal and sometimes a bit of a gamble for pros to change rackets. They usually play with the same models for 10+ years. Then just have their rackets painted to match the new models. If I remember correctly, Yonex only started making the Regna line in 2019. Plus they're rare and expensive. So no one has grown up playing a Regna.
Demoed every racket under the sun, when I picked this racket up blind tested not knowing what it was. I never picked up a different racket….it just is perfect
Maybe some professionals do play with it and have it painted to look like an Ezone or Vcore because that's what they're paid to endorse.
Maybe they do use it. Who knows what pro players use as they paint their racquets to look like whatever yonex is selling at the time.
REGNA backwards is ANGER. Bc you get angry realizing you spent way too much on a racquet that feels like pretty much any other racquet. Personally, I prefer the feel of my Wilson Blade Pro.
A good spotting regarding REGNA vs ANGER 👍👍👍
😄😄😄
Your comment makes you come off sounding a tad jealous...
Very witty .😀
@@walterhayley7252 i have the Regna 98 (2022) and have been hitting w it for a year, rotating it with the Wilson Blade Pro and Pro Staff 97 v 13. Why would i be jealous??
@@grokker99 nothing special--I've got one too (two years now). What you wrote indicates somethings up--who knows what. Maybe you're angry? How can you say it "feels pretty much (like) any other racquet" and then say you prefer xyz. What you essentially expressed is that they all feel the same. If so, why buy one in the first place, and how can a Blade feel different enough to create a preference...
