Remember, Kevin thought he made his family disappear. He didn’t know they actually went to Paris.
So, he probably assumed that If he called the police, they would put him in foster care and remove him from his home.
Well, it’s also because he thought he was now a criminal after shoplifting a toothbrush earlier in the movie

Ah yes, the movie about two immortal idiots going up against a ten year old psychopath. One of my favorite holiday movies. (I’m being sincere. I really do like it)

In Kevin's defense when you see these guys continue to get up again and again and proceed to try and rob your house, you gotta take more drastic measures. 😂
Kevin isn’t a psychopath. They still got through all of his traps, so he had to step things up or he’d literally be killed.
Lol...I think the idea is that THEY (the robbers) are the idiots, and so they keep asking for more by making bad decisions and trying to rob the little kid, and choosing to stay. Kevin had all these traps set up for defense which he should be able to do in case of intruders. It's not his business that robbers never give up . If they robbers would have walked away, Kevin would not try to pursue them any further. It is definately going to far, I think to say Kevin his crazy . I think anyone in his position should do anything possible to defend themselves as long as anyone is in their home.

Airports were more relaxed before 9/11 as for the old man looking at Kevin all weird, it's because you are watching him through Kevin's eyes. He's a little kid, everything's scary.

I've gotta say, great reaction.
And the reasons why Kevin didn't call the police was because of him shoplifting that toothbrush, so he felt he couldn't confront the police after become, in his own words, "a criminal".
Interestingly, looking back into the movie can show how things went the way they did. From the rush to the airport to the toothbrush shoplifting, the movie does show good reasons why Kevin did, or didn't, do what he did... or didn't.
Someone probably said it already but this was before all the security at the airport.
It's a good reminder of what airports were like 11 years before 9/11...

Hell, I’m white American and my mother would’ve *knocked me into next week* if I talked to her the way Kevin did to his mother. I remember my jaw dropping when I first saw it 30 years ago. In the late 80’s, kids in U.S. movies and commercials really started to be brats.
This movie was made before 9/11 so security was very relaxed
Fun fact 1: Joe Pesci, the actor for Harry, did suffer serious injuries from the traps, especially the blowtorch trap (not sure if Marv was also injured from the traps but it’s probably very likely)
Fun fact 2: Daniel Stern, actor for Marv, has an actual fear of spiders, so in the scene where the tarantula was placed on his face, the scream of fear probably wasn’t too far off from how he felt
Anyways, if you’re gonna watch more home alone movies, definitely watch the second movie, the third movie is decent so you can watch that, but DON’T go beyond that, the 4th, 5th, and 6th movies are horrible
Marv was probably mentally injured since one of the pigeons flew into his mouth during the bird lady scene
I watched a video of a doctor reacting to their injuries and it was really funny the whole time he is like "They're dead"

There's a similar video called "Honest Action" that has a computer voice narrating the injuries each trap would do to Harry and Marv in the first two movies combined; and keeps count of their fatalities. According to that video, each would have died twice in the first film: Harry from breaking his neck on the second ice fall, Marv from getting hit on the head by the falling iron, and both of them from getting hit with Old Man Marley's shovel. The second film was much deadlier, and IIRC, the total count was "you would need 9 Harrys and 14 Marvs to get through Home Alone 1 & 2!"

Idk who picks out the movies but you guys movie mondays line up is immaculate. Also everyone loves home alone. I don’t trust anyone that don’t this is just an amazing classic. The part 2 is just as great (my fav one tbh)

The house that was flooded was the Murphys the kid they counted at the beginning that wasn't the family, that's his house. The old guy lives next door to Kevin not across the street. That guy is always out shoveling and possibly seen what was happening and followed them in.

In 97 ' i arrived at my local airport 10 mins before takeoff, and I made my flight w/o any trouble !
When watching these older movies, please think about the time they're taking place.
it was much quicker to go through the airport before 9/11. That's when security and check ins became longer and took more time, so it's actually not cap lol
You could also just go to gate and see your family off to their flight. My dad and I used to go to the gate and just watch planes take off. Never happening again unfortunately.

@43:03 After all these years of watching and loving this movie, I only now realized that the reason why Old Man Marley is still around is probably because of the fact he was on bad terms with his son. He didn't have anywhere to go, nobody to go anywhere with, or anyone to see like the other people on the street who left on vacation. Which was fortunate for Kevin because he ended up helping Kevin with the "Wet Bandits". Oh, and the reason why Kevin didn't call the cops earlier is because there was a power outage and the phone lines were down...
Airport security used to be very lax pre 9/11, hell in the 80’s, a friend and I went to Mexico and she bought a sword for her brother. It wouldn’t fit in her luggage, so she carried it on the plane and they LET her, it’s a much much different world now.
I subscribed just because of the guy getting freaked out about the tarantula.

The nightmare before christmas
She played Sally the rag doll who will later become Jack Skellington wife. There is a new book came out last October or November in 2021 the book is titled The pumpkin queen. And it talks about so many on sally story currently after that sweat romantic kiss on top of the spiral hill it talked about in the intro of they're wedding ceremony and what are they up to and then it gave us alot which I really loved of Sally's backstop of where she came from which I won't spoil but the book was a hit and it still is. So check it out.

Airport security was tough but not as bad as nowadays. 9/11 and all the crazy things since have made it much stricter.
The sequel only proves that the two guys are immortal. Survives a can of paint to the face not a surprised they survive a brick to the face. Out of all the scenes it is the nail in the foot that I can’t watch.

His family blames him tho didnt hear Buzz or even see the cause they just assumed Kevin they all just mistreat him or not even be kind to him or educate him at all or deny their terrible they just say wish for a new family. And far as what he does to Harry and Marv they deserve it. Death or harm dont matter when your breaking the law and robbing or entering someones home uninvited, or wanna harm a kid, you get what you deserve.
