There's fan theory that the old woman at the beginning of the film is Anton Ego's mother. The old woman wore pink like Anton's mother in the flashback, & she clearly had experience in cooking, hence how Remy was able to learn from her cookbooks. Also, it's believed that given the flashback we get from Anton's childhood, he's so critical of other cooks because no one in his mind will ever be better than his mother. So, when Anton eats Remy's food, it reminds him of his mother who's probably too old to cook anymore, & it brings an additional meaning of the phrase "just like mom used to make."
people are so creative with their theories! :D I personally don't think Anton would leave her to live alone in the country, especially if he misses her food so much. My first impression was she is gone from this life and that's why he melts when he gets to eat food from childhood again. taste and smell are heavily connected to memory. But it's a cool theory to think about
There's also the fact that, while it's only the doorframe wall, and kitchen corner we see in the flashback, they actually match up quite well with the Old Woman's house. Along with the hill we see outside of the flashback door, with a tree matching the same spots.
@@BigMoneyChao So? As her house is in the countryside RIGHT outside of Paris, he would've been going to a French school. He could've just as easily be a "White" person who grew up in France. Which is kinda funny, considering MOST French people ARE, y'know, White lmao
When Colette trains Linguini she says “You can’t cook like Mommy.”, but when Remy cooks for Ego it is the reminder of the cooking like Mom that brings him back and makes him love it. One detail I love is how Ego is so thin as he says “If I don’t like it I don’t swallow”, but once he receives good food he starts to put weight on by the end. Also the fact that Ego is voiced by legendary actor Peter O’ Toole makes him even better!
As a channel of 3 brothers, my request is for u guys to watch brother bear. It’s a story of 3 brothers, who actually remind me of y’all quite a bit. My favorite movie as a kid
@@alecLogan Yep. Spoiler alert: Kenai, the youngest was trying to prove his manhood, and when he messed something up, he tried to make it up by hunting a bear. The older brothers went after him to make sure he was okay and all three end up fighting the bear Kenai provoked. The oldest dies protecting the other two, Kenai goes after the bear again, full of rage and grief and kills it. The spirits turn him into a bear so he can take care of Koda (a little bear) because Kenai killed his mother. The middle brother thinks Kenai is the bear that killed the oldest and now he thinks she killed his little brother too because he found his clothes on the floor (ripped from the transformation), so the whole movie the middle brother is trying to kill Kenai thinking he’s the bear that “killed” both his brothers. I don’t know if that makes sense. I’m sleep deprived lol
This movie is a true masterpiece. I love Ratatouille as a kid. Great actions, awesome food, learning new things and funny moments. Everyone has a dream of their own and we can make it come true 🐀🍝🥖🍷🥘😢🤣
I can truly say that your movie reactions are the only ones in which I've ever sat down and watched an hour long movie commentary. Lol. This is how I pass the time when I struggle to clean or get depressed because you guys are right up there with Billy Binges, Mr. Video, and The Matthews Fam. I hope this channel sees just as much success. :)
It's theorized that Linguini's late mother was Gusteau's secret lover, known only to the chef world and not publicly, and he wooed her with the beautiful studio. They might have died of a shared STD as they seemed to have died at similar times, too.
What happened to Ego is what us french call " une madeleine de Proust " an expression about something who reminds us memories (often of childhood) in reference of the MC of a book of the french writer Marcel Proust, who, after eating a madeleine, remember of his aunt who always gave him one after put it in her tea.

Got a really obscure underrated gem recommendation! It’s called “where the wild things are” This movie was one of the best stories I’d experienced in years, I remember the first time I watched it like it was yesterday. Rats really are the most hated animals on earth and all they do is fight to survive. This movie open my eyes to the plight of the worlds “vermin” they’re all just out there living their lives and doing their best, just like us
Raphael asked the difference between a rat and a mouse. Reminded me of "The Tale of Despereaux". A good film/animation recommendation; really underrated.
Now after this I want them to react to "Mouse Hunt", it's not animated movie but damn it way to good I just remembered how much funny and great it was, i watched it when I was kid but I still remember it that's how much good it is.
My one major objection to this movie, and for that matter to all the Harry potter scenes where Ron carried his rat with him, is that...well...rats are incontinent. All rodents are. They can't control their bowels. And that means that they just let it go wherever they are. Whether in Ron's pocket, or on top of Linguini's head, and certainly in proximity of food, everywhere is their toilet.

Recipes and cooking times differ widely, but common ingredients include tomato, garlic, onion, courgette (zucchini), aubergine (eggplant, brinjal), capsicum (bell pepper), and some combination of leafy green herbs common to the region.
Critics make money because they carry a lot of sway in the press through their reviews. The bit with them all pausing and glancing cautiously up at the attic was gold. 😂😂
Fun Fact: The shop window where all the dead rats were hanging is based on a real shop that the crew came across while doing research in Paris.
"She went from attempt at murder to attempt at having a child." 🤣
