  • Some cake designs just need that extra stability or maybe you just want a less stressfull cake delivery - knowing that there is a safe structure inside the cake holding it all together ;). In this tutorial I show you an easy and inexpensive way to achieve this!
I use this structure ALL the time! Especially for cakes that have more than 3 tiers or intricate 3D cakes like my Paw Patrol Lookout Tower. I use this cake structure in combination with the Wilton Cake Circles, because they have a hole in the middle already - this saves all the time & trouble of drilling holes in the cake circles as well. I hope you enjoy watching it! X
I'd love to see your baking creations! If you post a picture online, please hashtag #abbyliciousz

Haha I needed this the once I did a sculpted cake! Literally never even heard of a rivet but before, you can tell DIY is not my thing!
I managed to bitch together something like this, but good to see how it's meant to be done 😁

Hi! I use gift wrapping paper and wrapping film on top of it to prevent stains on the paper 😉

Hi Abby....love love love all your work!! Truly amazing ❤️❤️❤️Also, how and what do you cover your boards with? I use fondant, but I would like to explore other methods. Ty...you rock, I have learned soooooo much from your enriching tutorials!!

Thank you so much 💕! I use fondant to cover my round boards for weddingcakes if the colour needs to be an exact match as the cake itself. As an inexpensive for other projects, I usually use gift wrapping paper and wrapping film on top of it to prevent any stains on the paper 😊😊😊

Thanks for this tutorial but I want to make a horse structure and yes I need the 4 leg and the neck also the part for the head and let’s not forget the body can you come up with a less expensive easy to make structure we all can make and use for 4 legged animals please!

Hi Marilyne, I don't have a cake project like this planned in the near future, so I won't be able to make a tutorial for this any time soon 😊. Buttt.....
You could use this methed I showed you for the 4 legs by using 4 threaded rods and add bolts and to hold another MDF board in place where the body starts. You could add another threaded rod from the MDF board from the body to support the head. If you like one leg to be bent, I've seen people using copper wire, you'll have to wrap this in cling film/ganache/candy melt, because it is not foodsafe and too big for straws 😉.
      Hope this helps!
