  • Hey Cake Chums and welcome back to another video.
It's a bit of a random one this week, as I promised the attendees at my recent Norbert the Nordic Gnome (or Gonk) Zoom Demonstration that I would film an extra video to show them how I built the structure for Norbert. Surprising simple, it's the perfect base on which to structure all sorts of gravity-defying character cakes, such as gonks, minions or even elephants balancing on ornate plinths (it will all make sense when you watch the video).
I'm also announcing the winner of this year's CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY, so be sure to watch all the way to the end!

Thank you so much for sharing! You are so talented & your videos are so easy to follow. If you haven't already made one, I would love to see you make a Minion or a character from the Trolls movies using this structure.

Great videos and I love the fact that you make all of us ‘new’ bakers feel like it’s something we can achieve and don’t need a doctorate in sugar craft to even have ago 😍

Brilliant tutorial Rob...... Well done on battling through the man flu! 😉 Definitely want to see how you'd use this with an actual cake (not that I'd be brave enough to try myself! Haha 🙈) x

Fab video, been desperately trying to figure out how to make a structure! Quick question, instead of the mdf board, can you use a cake drum instead or does it need to be mdf…🤔😊

I buy all my ‘hardware’ from a local independent store near me. I prefer them to the big chain places because they can usually answer any questions, listen to whatever elaborate plans I have and point me in the direction of what I need.
