Thanks for the review Mos, and buying this so we don't have to! ;-)
I must say I'm still not convinced by these Airfix "Mystery Bundle" sets. The items that really drive the RRP prices up are the scenery items, contributing over £120 to the RRP. Given that these were recently in the outlet sale for a fraction of those prices...I'm not so sure about this one. The 1/35th tank bundle seems a much better buy...just my $0.02...!
@@pepwaverley2185 Cheers!
Fair enough! the outlet sale is a pain in the butt really to them..
Seems to be their current AFV range - do people really want so many in one go - in saying that I would be interested in release of the 1/76 Centurion & Chieftain
@@MOS6510Models For retailers as well!
Well Moss that was interesting and whilst the biggest bundle, for me it’s got to be the most dull bundle! I have several of the tanks and didn’t pay RRP for them. In your maths Moss you should also allow the individual purchases to be from a club member and so take 10% off that £360 as well?!
Moss I am pleased you buy them and love them, for me even if it’s only £40 or £50 saved, you still get a big box to open up and excitedly find out what the mystery is!!
I feel Airfix could be more generous with these Mystery box’s and I agree 100% with MMM’s comments, spot on! Enjoy Moss, keep buying them as it’s fun to watch you. I doubt I will buy anymore.

Once I deduct the cost of the steps and the banks that I would never use, it all seems much less of a good deal.
Obviously there's a huge difference in the price of the bundle and the RRP of all the individual kits, but it is only a 'saving' if you intended to buy all of them anyway. It's classic marketing, convincing the customer to buy more than they need then telling them they've saved money.
Sad to say that most, but not all, of these 'vintage' kits are way past their sell-by dates. The only reason I've bought the Churchill Bridgelayer or Sherman Calliope in the past is to 'kit-bash' those newer parts onto way better alternatives from other companies to build a half decent replica.
If Airfix really want to offload older stock, then the original RAF vehicle sets (which are still pretty decent) combined with the newer Bomber Resupply set and maybe even the Control Tower would be something I could be right up for.....
Agree. Bought the Panther a couple of years ago and it was the original tooling. Oh dear - ! 😮 Probably the same with the Stug 3, the JS3, the half track and the tank transporter.
A nice collection of classics. I've built most of them, many decades ago. I'd like to make a new LCM and Sherman again.
Very cool unboxing Mos!
It seems to be a very large selection of excellent, good and somewhat old tat Mate. the Panther is a joke of a kit now and shouldv'e been updated years ago and the Jeep in the Buffalo kit I believe is designed from a very blurry picture taken during a very heavy thunderstorm. But that said I think it's not a bad deal so happy modelling or should I say auctioneering mate!!!!
Intresting selection...i think a few figure sets should have been included seeing as they included the ruined building sets to make a diorama
It is cal-eye-oh-pea Mos!
Haha.. yep so many ways of saying it lol
@@MOS6510Models This one is the most agreed upon pronunciation
@@TheRealNSA yep you are right. but i say it wrong so people comment on the video.. the algorithm loves it :)
I think that this would be good for a youth group who are into making models but those old kits can be either ok or "tricky" especially the rubber band tracks. That said, it is good vfm particularly for club members who get the 10% discount and a shed load of "flying hours" tokens (not sure if you get them on the diorama items) to go towards getting a "free" kit.
Seems at first a good deal if you are into armour. However Airfix gives you two kits that are the same, and they do it twice. And these kits are in a different scale. Would have been better to add a couple of more 1/76 kits and with some figures and to adjust the price down to account for the smaller size kits.
1/76 and 1/72 is basically the same
@@MOS6510Models True. But the rivet counters will know if you diorama the two scales together.🙂
So if you aren't interested in the out of scale diorama items you can buy the 24 AFV's for a couple of quid cheaper than this bundle... not a good deal at all as far as I am concerned
1/76 and 172 is basically the same
Got to say Mos, as you went through the delivery I was going……built that……built that…..built that…….and if I didn’t… one of my brothers did.
Very nostalgic and a very very long time ago…😂
Good review.
Best Gary
i'm like that.,. some i missed out on and some ive built twice lol
Thanks for the vid but after building most of the Airfix 1/76 armour range as a kid I wouldn't touch them again. It seems like most of the savings are on the steps and the bank, the two most expensive items and they double up on them, it doesn't really seem much of a bargain bundle to me but so long as you are happy that's all that matters.
Bizarre bundle! Like opening your own 1980s newsagents shop, minus the opal fruits and dodgy top shelf magazines. A lot of money for very old kits, so you'd have to be very nostalgic to buy it. If there was less 'mega' bundle - 6 or 8 of those classics - I'd be up for it. Odd that the diorama parts are 1/72 scale when everything else is 1/76, so I wonder who made them for Airfix?
Also all WW2 except for a weird WW1 tank inclusion.
I'm jealous Mos. All I can afford are these sort of kits Can't wait to see what ideas come up with. Great scope for diaramas
i think ill give them away as prizes.. we will see
You should off added the flying hours too as there enough there to get at least 2 or 3 more kits : D
But yea like someone else have side this bundle should defo be aimed at Youth groups as you can make a really decently big diorama with the Western front kits. Like I've said above with the flying hours you can get a couple of Hawker typhoons flying over. That should really make it look nice.
Good shout
Cool.
Just a small point on pricing.. the dioramas are priced /each/ so you don't get two City Steps or two Polish Banks for £24.49 and £35.99 respectively. I know as I added these up myself a week or so ago when this bundle was mentioned on Facebook.
I say you get 2 and they are 24.49 each,, if you do the maths it is correct
@@MOS6510Models What you said was 'you get two of these at £24.49..' 'not two of these /each at £24.49', Small point and I know the maths was right as I recall the total.. although I forgot the saving for Airfix members which you mentioned. Mind you, wouldn't they get the same saving if they bought the separate kits so the bundle saving would be the same?
@@julianmhallyes you get a 10% discount regardless of what you buy if a member
Blimey, some of these are old. I was in primary school when I had the Sherman, and I am retired now! I recall buying the Scammell when I visited the tank museum in Dorset the same month Apollo 11 landed on the moon. The Buffalo is even older I think - in plastic bags when I bought them. Some good Roy Cross artwork though.
Yes.. the tank museum has been around for a very long
Not for me, I'm afraid . Fed up, trying to mix 1/72 with 1/76 .There is no real point with 1/72 diarama .
1/76 and 1/72 is basically the same.. in fact most of these kits were released at 1/72
I used to mix 1:76 with 1:72 models when wargaming in the 1970s. No problem.
Looks like Airfix can't shift their 1/76 kits 😂
How do I get this in Australia!
👍👍Interesting
Glad you think so!
Nice bundle, but why do you get 2 Polish banks? Why would you need 2 of them?
You could make two dioramas I guess. It looks like they're having trouble "shifting" them.
Most of the tank/vehicles are old toolings and there are much better versions from other companies. Not good value at all, come on AIRFIX you can do better than this.
All very well but most of the kits are 1/76 scale and the buildings and a couple of the kits are 1/72 scale.......
1/76 and 172 is basically the same
Wonder what the live stream discussion tonight will be about 🤔
Never heard of 1:76 scale kits. Usually it's 1:72, 1:36, 1:48, 1:24 and 1:144 for ships and airliners.
They are the same scale as OO gauge model railways.
@@jerry2357 so OO gauge is 1:76 scale then? I didn't know that.
I would be a little disappointed to find that it’s mostly old kits
One bundle I wont be buying . Bought all the others but this one , just doesn`t cut it.
Wow, really cool
where is this bundle been done, europe, asia, america, uk or world wide
I think they can go worldwide.. just check
Wild stab in the dark MOS.. the dog isn't in the bundle ;)
You didnt see the bit when he cocked his leg... lol
Hmm rather save the money for the Gannet.
cant wait for the gannet
Are all the vehicles 1/76 and the buildings 1/72?
yes but they are basically the same scale. its millimetres in difference..
Some of the newer vehicles are 1/72 but, like Mos says the difference is hardly noticeable.
Way over priced as most if these kits are50 years old plus the resin kits are in a different scale. Think itsmore of getting rid of old stock.
1/76 and 1/72 is basically the same
kuh · lai · uh · pee 😂
$250 seems awfully steep for a load of old braille scale jobbies.
Reason you don’t get subscribers might be most watchers live outside UK, I live in oregon. - That’s still lot of money to buy here online…
??
Gary sir you made an ugly plane into a very good model! Congratulations mate, this one however will not be adorning my stash!!
Bob

there out of stock ..lol noooooo :P
What is the fascination with WW2 armour? Do Airfix actually make modern vehicles! I once built the 1:72 Willy Jeep and cried with laughter at the size of the box in comparison to the model. I'm afraid that I'm more a modern-day model enthusiast as that old stuff quit frankly bores me
......but you'd never buy all this 😂
Too many vintage kits for me. I was never a fan of old Airfix kits
Hmmmm. Aiirfix have been coming up with some awesome stuff of late. Until now that is.. This resembles a car boot sale to just rid of some old clutter. Sorry to say
Yes, build more models and don't give a shit what happens to the world outside.
1/76 NO

£250 mega expensive the resin buildings was a famous fail by airfix cant believe they still have stock lol how many did they order ... nice idea but i don't see the value for regular model makers, but also i am not nostalgic for the brand definitely one for the cultists of airfix.
subscribed to your channel ages ago mate.
👁👁
Calliope never was a real Airfix, nor was Bridgelayer...Matchbox?
I think it's different from the the Matchbox/Revell version. The Airfix version doesn't have a turret and the track joints are different. Looks like they adapted the old Airfix Mk VII like they did with the "crocodile".
I can;t see where the bargain is to be honest. I just checed quickly some of these items in biggest online shop in Poland (Hannats will work as well) and their regular prices allow me to hit 250 in total or just exceed it a bit. On the top of this fact you can get most tanks from Airfix competitors with recent tooling, better quality and price also being reasonable. Maybe if they offered something like "pick at teast 10 of these and we will discount you by 30% 40% 50%".
Who's going to be the first to build them all lol
hahah.. be a challenge
Auto Stash !
Thanks for letting me know what NOT to buy. Not impressed. Too many hard to move junk kits that probably no one wants to buy. Also, most people build 1/35 scale, not the dinky 1/76 or 1/48. Nope not for me.
yes i guess its aimed at a particular modeller my friend
Why would you waste your time on old garbage kits like this? Why buy $250 worth of kits when you’ll only be interested in a few of them? Sad to see that airfix couldn’t even include their new tool Firefly and Tiger
cal eye o pay. pronunciation
