    I'm sure you already figured it out by now, but you get both ears with on mic by setting it to Mono. Also, you asked why you would want one person in one ear and one in the other... well the answer is you don't. You have to mix both mics in post and set it to dual mono so you can hear both people in both ears. If you just want to hear both people on both ears, then set the mics to Mono. It's better when they're separated though since you might not want the audio coming from the other mic. You have more options to work with when they're separated.

      Hello and thank you 😊 that is a lovely helpful reply. Yes I finally worked it out and another RUclipsr like yourself was kind enough to spell it out in simple language for me.
      It proved useful knowing for whilst I've not yet used two together when I used one by itself for internal audio (it was pi ssing it down with rain) so I used gopro with no media mod and put one of these under my jacket to keep it dry I could fairly easy sync the audio to gopro and remove gopro audio. But that had audio in one ear so right click in premiere pro on timeline over audio allows both ears to hear it. All clever stuff. Not sure how I'd mix the two etc and first up if ever needed I'd stick to mono from get go but worth investigating in future. All those extra audio clips with separate voices would do my head in lol thanks again for stopping by. Too many less than helpful or friendly folks out there we can't all be expert and sometimes nice to share a problem or question because I can't be the only person wondering this and someone might stumble this way and find this additional info helpful. Pinned your kind reply for ease of reference.

      A really useful video and comment.
      I'm very new to editing and trying to learn fast and have the Hero 10 and media mod,but, looking for a simple improvement to the gopro audio and negating the need to have to switch mics on the media mod !
      When exporting my gopro video to my windows laptop, does the dji audio have to be exported separately and then syncd with the footage? I'm guessing yes. If so, is it easy to combine the 2 in post? I use capcut and capcut Pro.
      Thanks both for your help

      @mikesalmon14 dji audio is instead of gopro audio
      So in otherr words its all together zero syncing. Its really easy.

      @TonyHobbs really appreciate the quick reply Tony, thanks very much. Im new to editing, but beginning to enjoy it but didn't want to have to do any audio editing. From what you've said, this looks like a great solution if they are already syncd together (I'm guessing from the dji receiver being plugged into the gopro).
      Not having to have to do any audio editing is great for me, but I guess the big question is, in your opinion, is the audio difference worth the cost over GoPro internal mics? I didn't see much difference between the media mod and internal mics and its a real pain having to switch mics on the media mod?
      Thanks again for your reply which I reply appreciate

      @mikesalmon14 hi Mike its a tricky one tbf as I started with media mod and Rode Go mk 1. I never used or trusted just gopro. Media mod as you say is front or back and swapping mid chat is ridiculous.
      Then I switched to DJI as in video.
      Then to Tentacle track e fairly recently but that's a league up and is good fairly easy with gopro labs on gopro but it is an additional few steps. I had a faulty unit after a bit and didn't want to go to dji mod again as it does add bulk and weight so I tried wind slayer foam cover and was pleasantly surprised it's pretty decent all round sound as long as arms length lol six of one half dozen of other lol
      Yes as dji or Rode plugged in it replaces gopro audio so all self contained. Try the wind slayer first you might be surprised it is OK..... my last two or three trips were with it. Recent Scotland trip I used track e but only one day of five plus for a interview with Chris and in editing I added echo a bit 😀 ops but good enough for me. Its not finished yet. Good luck.

    Recording each mic in a different channel (left or right), allows you to have each speaker (person) separate and then post process each one independently. Let's say you're recording two people, and when you're editing you realise tat one is much quieter than the other, with a mono mix you're pretty much screwed. But with a stereo recording, you can raise the volume on the quieter channel. Stereo gives you more options in post. Mono mix is simpler, but only if you get everything right while recording

    • @TonyHobbs

      Hi Boatsuk, did you watch to the very end, if not can you look at my last bit where I show premiere pro. as I am confused on one thing. Notice that Premiere Pro (PP)has audios ie audio 1 audio 2 etc. But the mic in stereo when using one mic in stereo uses hand ie left ear of the audio 1 (or 2 whichever is being used) and at one point I take out the second mic and that picks up the audio but is still on the same audio ie 1 or 2. The only way to adjust is with
      L R
      00
      M S 00 (write key frames)
      How on earth does that help make one person louder or quieter
      I thought that the audio ie Audio 1 only DB (decibels) could be altered for the whole audio (ie audio 1) What I see is that stereo left right is on just one audio. (I expected left to be audio 1 and right audio 2 lol but its not like that.... Can you explain the above esp how to balance two people using two mics.
      Also is it possible to get stereo with one mic? Again look at my PP view at end and you see mic only goes to left ear.... if using one mic only do I need to use MONO???
      I hope you don't mind me asking. Thank you for your help so far I really appreciate it.

      @@TonyHobbs You need to change how Premiere interprets the audio from Stereo to 2x Mono. Then you will get two separate (mono) audio tracks that can be edited individually. By default, they'll be centre panned. Take a look at this video ruclips.net/video/YFFQDYadyYQ/видео.html

      Yes unfortunately to attach mic you need media mod or ulanzi box with separate dongle cable thing.

    Hi Tony, just wanted to ask a quick question. When you place that cold shoe adapter onto the Mic Receiver in order for it to be able to clip onto the Media Mod case, once you take the receiver off the media mod case and place it back into the case to charge, do you have to remove the cold shoe adapter for it to fit inside and charge or not?

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs  Год назад

      No the fittings ie cold shoe one can stay in place. The other two ie usbc and Apple one might need removing to charge though. But it’s no big deal. I rarely used them anyway. Thanks for watching and asking

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs  2 года назад +1

      That was me playing with it lol I don't think it swapped itself. The Rode is mono as far as I can tell so I'll just plonk this into mono too as mono still uses both ears etc
      I'd like to know more about using the stereo on it but difficult to figure or find out lol Hopefully it might attract more attention and we might find out more and if Rode do this we will still need to understand it which we don't yet lol
      I've never used Rode Go 2 with two people 🎤 Ed up or seen in post production.

      I found a RUclipsr who actually actually answered in simple terms. I'll do a video on it next I camp next week but in nutshell
      Use mono for one
      Use mono for two people but watch levels of audio out there as can't adjust in post much
      Or use stereo and ignore left right get home set levels in post and merge to mono so everything in both ears.

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs  4 месяца назад

      Change setting from stereo to mono on it
      For those done if premiere pro highlight audio in imported files box ie bottom left box and right click modify mono to stereo tick both
      So yeah it sounds odd..... mono on unit
      Stereo in editor

      @TonyHobbs  2 года назад +1

      Hello great to see you here thanks 😊 I have a couple of other videos up on this probably a bit to waffly for most but yes I do believe you're exactly right
      I don't know how etc etc but yes it definitely seems from my nosing around RUclips you record separately and export into one track so both ears hear
      It sounds long winded for a simple camper blogger so I'll stick to mono from get go lol
      Bur if you or anyone takes it more professional than me then yes and I'd imagine the results being quite good too .thanks again for stopping by and posting a comment.

      Fit media mod to Hero 10 then supplied black jack from dji mic to media mod the bottom point of media mod it'll only fit one and then to the out (not headphones input) on the receiver of dji mic. It should work OK. If not let me know
