I think that the viewer got invaded by Anastasia while playing alone and he thought it was another player. In several fromsoftware games you get "invaded" by npcs.
I thought that about the npc invaders at first. I even turned off online because I read in the multiplayer info card invasions don’t happen offline. I was really frustrated since I couldn’t figure out why until I went forum searching.
I think he got confused because you need a furcalling finger remedy to activate the taunters tongue.
Y'know, that makes a lot of sense.

It ain't an easy life, but it's very important! I enjoy being invaded as part of multiplayer playthroughs - it adds excitement and variation to PvE that you just don't get in solo. Still - being an invader is usually too frustrating for me. It's honestly a problem that you have to be way too good at the game to have any real success as an invader.
You finally started playing the game

Some people think npc invaders are actual players. This may make them believe they are being invaded when solo
I bought the game because of your videos, and so far in my 20 hours of gameplay, i can certifiy i've seen about 0 human invaders in my game.
Yep, you can only get invaded when you summon or use Taunter's Tongue. I encourage you to try either, it's tons of fun!
Wow, you must've been tremendously "lucky" then 🤡
@@OnlyWaifuYT I meanwhile am just playing offline, though some NPC red phantoms (namely Millicent and the Great-Jar's Knights) are giving me a bad time. It was only yesterday when I found out that all three knights MUST be killed in ONE GO! Return to another Grace Site, you have to do it all over again. At least the Golem Archers can't easily kill you if you're far enough from the arrow's blast radius's. Though getting killed by one while fighting the jar's duelists still kind of makes me shit bricks a bit.

The mistery weapon is the Glaive! I'm a smart little Volkswagen , it seems.
You guy's are what inspired me to try PVP and it's become one of my favorite things to share with my community.
ER's the most tame ngl.
DS1 never had anti-cheat until it was too late, and half the time the invaded host could just sneak out of the map forcing the invader to leave or roam around endlessly.
DS2 was built off of the soul economy and couldnt be controlled unless you wasted a ring slot, which also kept you too broke to afford consumables, repairs, arrows, et al.
DS3 just straight up had the whole PvP spectrum; Crazy PvP, Sunbro PvP, Wolf PvP, Normal PvP, Boss PvP- And even when they told you where players were 9/10 you'd get sent halfway across the planet to fight people in 'dead' areas.
ER's simple; Use a tongue, sit on horse, when horse gone, invasion happen.
Or play Pokemon in the Arenas. 🍷🗿
Thanks for the explanation! Even as a seasoned FromSoft game player a lot of this info was new to me, since I don't usually engage with PvP :p

People wanting to not get invaded when playing co-op while I’m still here hoping for an automatic taunters tongue (or there is one and I’m just dumb)
This is interesting information. I actually have Elden Ring installing now, and will likely be playing for the first time tomorrow or the next day. Not sure if I'll like it, or finish it, but to be fair this clarifies a few things. I was just in a lengthy discord discussion about whether a couple of former players I know should "twink" me and how that would affect things like PVP and invasion calculations. For my part however I'm not really in a hurry to catch up or be ready for the expansion when that comes up, as it's hard to actually learn anything that way despite certain RL issues.
That said while I plan to try and slowly do my first play through solo if I can, it is good to know that early on at least if invasions are a problem I could just stash some overpowered piece of gear (if I am actually gifted any, not sure how that would even work in a game like this) in storage or whatever and effectively "turn off PVP" until my level and gear sync, though to be fair that is an exploit and if I never fight anyone I'll never see if I can get good at it.
To be brutally honest though, while I do get the idea of why they set these games up this way, I think most PVE/PVP hybrid games like this suffer from them trying to oversimplify as they just want to sit back and let the game run itself.
I've been of the opinion for a while that something like "Souls" games should probably have something like an overall tier list and point value created by the developers according to their intent, and then likely released after the game has been out for a while. Then match making should happen based on a combination of overall power score combining things like level and all equipped/carried items at the moment (with this score being computed by how the developers intend PVP viability) and then greatly adjusted by win/loss ratios in a true sense, where say some scrub with huge numbers of losses only gets pitted against people with similar losses, where those who win frequently likewise only get pitted against those with a lot of wins. Given the sheer number of players something like that could work, at least until interest dies down to the point of it becoming a retro game.
Of course then again I'm not a game developer, so there might be some reason why they don't do that... well other than the fact that they get off on the reputation systems like this gain and how much it annoys people. Sure this might mean the you wind up with the vast majority of players in something like a "Scrub vs. scrub" league where the high end players simply encounter each other again and again, but it would allow the same elements to exist without the same constant sense of victimization unless people cheat the system... which means they of course need to actively watch it during the game's heyday and make quick patches when needed.
Such scores can also tell you what the developers intended, thus instead of player tier lists, people can tell if something is working as intended and filling the niche it was supposed to, and thus end most community arguments over such things as it will always be about making sure the weapon, technique, or whatever , fits in where it's supposed to rather than being far more subjective like it is now.
Of course this is to be fair mostly from the perspective of someone whose only done Demons Souls as an import and is just now going to be trying this again. :)
Thank you for explaining the tongue thing I've been wanting to get invaded and I was sad it wasn't happening 👍
Another fun video!

Love the videos. I learn quite a bit watching these.
The telescope you purchase from Kalé can be used to aim spells similar to the binoculars in DaS2, except it locks your position in ER much like a great bow.
I love that this game brought new players. The problem is that the tourists overstay their welcome and cry about invasions etc

Yes this does allow you to have 2 invaders in your world with TT, but as far as i know, if you TT solo, you will only get one invader, if you have a hunter or a summon to help you, then you can get 2 invaders, i do a good bit of TT invasions and not once had i had 2 invaders come in while solo.
Thingy is a weapon I didn’t even know existed: the Glaive. Apparently one spawns near Sellia as a drop. Or you can farm skelingtons.
Can’t wait to be called an M1 Abrams by Roderika.
Once again, you do have good points about PvP. I encountered few invaders who have actually DCed whenever they didn’t get an easy kill on me, or defeated. Those people simply DC the moment they were defeated to deny the victors runes.
YOu know I like how we keep seeing Malina in the thumbnail. And yet we don't see her often if not at all in a video. Is she camera shy or something?
Never the less this is a well thought out lesson to those that want to know more about invasions and how they work. I tend to only do PVPs whether I'm bored or I need some practice. Never the less the mystery thingie is the Glaive. It's one if not the only weapons who's magical guard stats are 38 in magic, fire, lightning, and holy defense.
Melina does avoid the camera a lot... just like me for real for real.
I like how I started a new playthrough online expecting to get invaded, but never did because I never used the tongue lol
The mystery weapon that i definitely watched the video before mentioning is the glaive although from has been confused about weapon types a number of times
to add a thing for it comes to co-op
If you really don't want to be bothered by invades (besides npcs) and want to do the whole adventure with your buddies
Install seamlesscoop, it runs elden ring out of anticheat and without going by fromsoft server by using another save format and a password you set in the mod settings
Plus it counts the game progress for both of you guys
I believe our mystery thingy of today would be the glaive halberd
Unrelated to the video, but for a next video or short, could you highlight eternal darkness? it's a sorcery that works like vow of silence in DS, but instead of blocking spells and miracles, it summons a blackhole which sucks sorceries and incantations. I feel like more people need to know about this, since it can turn a fight more dynamic and force the opponent to engage in melee combat instead of being a gideon ofnir 2.0. Cheers!
I did my most recent playthrough with Taunter's tongue active for pretty much the whole run and it was incredibly fun. Open world 1v1 duels are incredibly underrated and while I definitely did get ganked by twinks a handful of times, most players especially under lvl 100 weren't using meta setups making it a good variety really upping the games difficulty.
Actually you can boot invaders from your world with the finger severer buts thats only if you summoned them via a red summoning sign I know cause I did it before back when eldenring was maybe a few weeks old at best
Yes you can send home summoned duelists
the mystery thingy is the Glaive, i hope Roderika calls me a little Porsche
I really just wanna say i upped my vigor for my squishy caster and now im not getting one tapped by invaders! THANKS ONLYWAIFU! this one invader thought they had me with a parry but i survived and went on to chasing them throughout the DLC area, eventually killing them.
I have over 800 hours in elden ring and have never been invaded because i have not used coop or the taunters tongue at all

Huh two years of playing Elden Ring and I didn’t know the Tongue was for single player invasions until this video, I expect to be having a lot more fun going forward :)
I always wanted to be called a space rocket. Thanks Roderika!
5:08 thank you for answering the exact question I was looking to get answered for the exact weapon I had been wondering about lmao. First time trying invasions was after I completed the game without leveling any weapons, so I was using +8 Rogier's Blood Rapier and +0 poison Antspur rapier at around level 130ish. I thought I was gonna be invading players with higher leveled weapons and much more health than the 35 vig I had, going up a challenge that probably won't be winnable, but would feel awesome if I managed to win. I ended up not feeling awesome about winning, just confused on how the system actually worked and wondering if I accidentally became a "twink" or something lol
If you lose to an invader to cool down timer is extended longer than an hr, only if you win is in the shorter one
That was the biggest issue on my first playthrough, I played the whole game without getting invaded because I never summoned, at first I thought it was supposed to be based on rune arcs, but sufice to say I got frustrated to learn how host-oriented the whole pvp design was.
And yes, I completely forgot about the taunters tongue 10 minutes after I got it.
Sometimes I feel like some people haven't even played elden ring and just watched others on youTube, because if they played and had even a little brain would realize that they are invaded when summon someone to help
In Elden Ring, you only get invaded by players if you use a Taunter's Tongue (explicitly meant to invite invaders) or summon a player cooperator. If people don't want to be invaded, they can simply not do those things.
If they insist that they NEED player cooperators in order to beat the game, they can always use those crazy mods that make it impossible for people to connect to them unless they're on the same thingamajig. Alternatively, they can go back to playing Hello Kitty dressup games.
The Magma Whip Candlestick is my favourite beside tool.
On the topic of matchmaking, I implore you to try making a character, at least level 100-300, with level 0 weapons. You will get comically bad players who had runes dropped to them, and don’t know how to upgrade a weapon… and it’s a surprisingly active bracket. And you guessed it, none of them level vigor.
Weapon for the video is the Glaive if im not mistaken (I was so confused when it wasn't a greatshield because of the no inherent elemental damage ngl)
All of these pet names just make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
I've never really thought about pvp and invasions before, but I guess it makes sense why I'm never invaded. I don't do co-op.
Are the full sized images for these adorable character fanarts anywhere online? I adore these outfits especially Roderika’s and I’d love to see the full images but I don’t know which videos if any even have them, and it doesn’t seem easy to find them on the onlywaifu twitter page or anything either.
Not to mention that sometimes the invader in actually an NPC from the game it self that spawns when you reach certain areas and drop items when killed but newcomers don't know about that and think it's another player invading them (I was new to souls games myself and elder ring is my first game in this genre and I assumed that as well until I searched more about the whole system)
Wonder if the weapons upgrade matchmaking would work if applied to yellows summon pool...
I think the mistery thingy today is the Glaive... Roderika I love you ROMANTICALLY!
The finger thing can boot invaders if you summon them yourself. Me and my brothers use this way of invasion if we working on fashion souls. This way we don't get things stolen, and once done I banish him.
7:04 I mean you’ll need more than just vigor for a twink… smart ones vs a Hank squad or another twink generally have consumables that are harder to counter like frenzy warming stone… they can heal and you can’t in there… spark aromatic if you try to get close, that’s 600HP gone in a flash and all it’s gonna take is poise plus aromatic to end an invasion in 2 button pushes… alternatively if the invader has the opportunity to red finger teleport they can swap to a bow and fire golem arrows at a distance or frenzy laser the host while wearing the talisman to conceal their body and now it’s an invisible enemy firing high damage shots that can drop FP and HP
Love your vids and your ranni
The mystery thingamajig is the glaive :3
I'm a souls like game noobie. I somewhat figured out how the invasion works to a point. I played this with a friend shortly after its release date. We got invaded a lot. Though I found it weird when I played by myself, I was never being invaded. I thought, maybe it was late, people went to bed, so the invasion rate was going to be super low. Then the next time I played with my friend, the invasions were back on. We didn't play as long as we did the previous time because my friend had to go, so it was still early in the day. I went on playing by myself. Surprised that I again, wasn't being invaded. I figured out then that co-op was triggering the invasions. At the time, I never read any text for the items I got. It's pretty sad being a noobie to the series and I was able to figure this out on my own, and you got people who play all the souls like game and say it does happen.
I learned something that the elden ring wiki has wrong, it says you can't parry mad pumpkin heads but you can actually parry when they try slapping you with their left hand
Nvm it has a buckler picture next to the attack when I scrolled down I was wrong x.x
im like 70% sure the mystery thingy madoodle is the glaive, thats a neat weapon, right? its like a weird halberd right?

not sure, but the timer thing may be bugged in the ice region / not sure but it felt literally like mins between a couple encounters (granted... that area is quite wide) so our encounters with some invasions were like 30 mins long between people running away or just not running into each other
pretty much we are kinda speed running my main character before DLC releases in a few weeks. never finished with this character but did on another but we had to play the mod seamless coop so we could play with a fourth member (ironically... the mod doesn't run the anti-cheat so we actually enjoyed the game more as we always ran into connection issues with specific areas.. also we could all use torrent so it played completely different as well)
unreleated but i love the use of final fantasy music in the background, always makes me happy to hear it

The mystery thingie is 100% the Glavie. Also I would like to hug Roderika and give her a headpat and let her know that's she's doing a amazing job and to keep it up 😊
What do you use for your voice synth? I'm not sure I've ever heard a better ai voice gen.
The mystery thing has to be one of the larger weapons to have a guard boost of 46 but can’t be too large because of the lower defense. I think it’s most likely to be a halberd. So it’s a middle of the road, physical only halberd. I can’t think of anything else that would give it away so I’m just going to guess my favorite looking halberd, the glaive. I’m not too sure about this one but we’ll see.
mhm I was wondering today, if I had to use a FURLCALLING FINGER REMEDY before activating the TAUNTER'S TONGUE or if that merely worked out of coincidence due to the tongue looking to get invaders into your current summoning pool (e.g. near you)
you can also boot red duelists. although you did consent to the pvp by summoning the duelist
The smart little Volkswagen would guess the Glaive to be the mystery thingy!
2:51 Yeah, me too.
Sometimes i think there should be a cure for stupidity.
Alright question time then as this information matches or is similar to what I've known and seen in dark souls and elden ring. Knowing rhat RL and weapon lvl both intertwine with pvp.
Correct me if Im wrong but dont boss weapons count higher than normal weapons? And if dropped from higher level players to lower levels can sway that weapon level stat? Plus does the data coincide with players of similar level under password coop?
2 coop players of SL 25 with non upgraded gear being "possibly" invaded by higher.
Well you didn't give up on the tarnish who chose you as their ending I chose my first ending to be the age of stars because one I like your character second it's one of my favorite endings and I was like why not
Invasion timer is 10 minutes from when it ends, either with host dying or invader dying.
That goth Melina design is amazing! We can't wait to see her in action.
7:22 very true I was invited to shade castle in for a guy who was around level 180’s fight lasted for well over 10 minutes. It was just me, and this other guy holding him off until the host came. He was using the terrain to run away and gain distance he was good. But he could not when I had on confrontation with the 3 of us, or even the 2 of us being a invaders is one of the least fun things in Elden ring cause getting jumped is a very real feeling
Yeah I answered two different ones the confusing part was there's two weapons that start up with fire and regular damage at 72 and that threw me off I was looking through my Arsenal and found the actual answer
